Great place located in heart of Macon. Atmosphere is casual and ample seating. Parking is street parking with meters. I sadly ate not too long ago, so I couldn't get a whole meal. We started with onion rings which were fantastic and huge. We then split a burger with battered fries. The fries had a crunchy,crumby texture on the outside and soft on the inside. The burger was good. Definitely fresh. I didn't get an adult shake, but they are known for both regular and alcoholic shakes with flavors such as Moon Pie and Jimmy Carter. OMG -- the best burger I have had in years. Perfectly cooked and tasty-- just a wonderful morsel from first bite to last. Mine was actually a patty melt. My dining companion ordered a burger with no bun -- I forget which actual menu item -- and likewise said hers was perfection, as was the veggie side selection. I also liked that they invite you to substitute a shake for your sides (for an up-charge). That was also outstanding. We would definitely go back if we're ever in Macon again. read more

I can't for the life of me give a restaurant that has "to go" options that are NEVER available a rating that's more than 1/5. You cannot advertise take out if that's never an option. They're always "too busy for takeout." I have called to make to go orders over five times and each time I call, they're too busy. Quirky and unexpected. There was a little waiting time probably due to the Covid restrictions. We went for a short walk just in time to get a text that our table was ready. They had a number of beers on tap though from the look of it, none were local. I tasted 2 IPA's and landed on a beautiful hoppy choice. Also we had the fried green tomatoes. They were a hit. They were not the best I ever had but in the top. They did not fall apart when you cut into them. Stopped by after work for a quick bite for the first time and not bad. It's definitely a bar and grill vibe. The bar had that "bar smell". While dining I opted for fried green tomato BLT with cole slaw and not bad. I wish I would have opted for the wheat bread and if I would have know about them buttering the bread I would have asked them to go easy. A little on the greasy side. Could have used a little more bacon as one side on had 1 strip all together and larger tomatoes to cover the bread. Overall not bad, I liked the addition of the chevre cheese and the cole slaw was good as well. Some patrons put some money in the juke box which was alright as well. We went here for the first time recently. It was cute, we got a seat at the bar quick. The bartender was nice. Got our drinks in decent timing. We ordered some egg rolls and a salad. The bar started to fill up some. We kept talking and visiting, started to see people who ordered after us get their meals. We kept being patient bc the bar was filling and bartender did seem busy. We couldn't get his attention to check on the order. After the third guests that sat after us received their food we just let the bartender know to cancel the order because we were on a time schedule. He was a little upset about it. He didn't charge our drinks which was nice and he lets us leave him a tip which was nice. I just didn't love the way the situation was handled... maybe we will try it again eventually and I can change the rating. Like a real college-meets-biker bar, a place for everyone, even kiddos are there with families. It's just a classic place. Burgers are good. RUDE STAFF! Go elsewhere. It's not THAT good. We had been once before and really liked it. So, we were so looking forward to our stop tonight on our 8 hour drive home. It was a 20-30 min wait. There was a packed waiting room so we waited in the stairwell away from the door. But a host or server (a tall white guy, brownish hair) came up to us and demanded we leave the area snd go outside or in the packed waiting room. I expressed concern over the amount of people and he said "well I guess you can go outside then." He was very rude. Got take-out to go one night, and was still pretty pleased with our food. I got the black and blue burger and thought it was phenomenal--although I did add bbq sauce on it at home. We also got root beers to go and they were some of the best I've ever had. My significant other wasn't too pleased with his meal. He got a chicken salad sandwich, and didn't realize it contained raisins (which he hates), so he didn't enjoy it as much as his burger the last time. I came in this place to have dinner with my girlfriend while in Macon. It's a Macon restaurant that gives you the feeling that you are in Little Five Points in Atlanta, which I really enjoyed. We ate dinner there tonight and it was great! I would say one of my favorite things to eat is fish and chips! My fish and fries were delicious! The tarter sauce was excellent. Our waiter, Shawn, was very good and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. At the end of the meal where you usually say no thank to desert... we said we wanted milk shakes-double chocolate for me and chocolate raspberry for my daughter. I'm so glad we did! I really enjoyed my visit here! I live in Warner Robins and rarely make it out to Macon. Walking in, the atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was nice! Loved the look of the place and we were seated right away. It was a Sunday and around 3pm and it was decently packed. Not sure what to order, being that i am pescatarian, I sought to order the Fish and Chips but the waiter recommended the burgers on the very back and by my surprise there was an option for a veggie patty! AWESOME. Got the side of onion rings as well, just as he recommended, and they were yummy! Overall, I'm not a burger person but my burger was delicious! I forgot the name of the burger but mine came with cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, mushrooms (per request, instead of applewood bacon), and lettuce, tomato and red onions! It was $10.50 for my burger, not bad for the size and quality! I enjoyed it and will be back! There were a couple highlights of our weekday evening dinner experience. First, Rudy, our server, was phenomenal. This girl could keep the Rookery in business with her personality and attention to detail. Second, I ordered the salmon Cobb salad and the salmon was cooked to perfection. We were seated upstairs at a cozy table. There were three of us and we all enjoyed the ambiance, food and our wonderful server Tamika. She was so sweet and helpful with recommendations.
