We enjoyed our trip to The Roost tonight! Great family owned spot in Fair Oaks Village. We even got to meet the owner, and she was very nice! The ice cream was delicious, which isn't a surprise, as they serve Gunther's! I got Cookies and Cream, and other members of the family got chocolate and mint chip. Delicious! We stopped by after playing at the park, and it was a great spot for a sweet treat! I'm sure we'll stop by again after the park or after having dinner in the Village. Thank you! read more

Let me start by saying our service was amazing even after the person had to deal with the chaos. We were so excited to try this new place out. It was hard to hear each other to talk about flavors. My daughter said she didn't like the ambiance of the place...but that's was due to other patrons. When walking up, people inside were being thrown against the windows. We get inside and there were 2 adults and about (15) 6th graders. And all of the kids were screaming. This spot is super small which made the volume sound louder. One girl throws out a 'you guys!' They quiet for a second and go right back to it. The blatant disrespect towards the poor girl that worked there and us was astounding. I looked over at the adults several times. They didn't just do nothing, they were acting like this behavior was fine. I couldn't take it anymore. I met their volume and screamed 'YOU KNOW BEING THIS LOUD IN HERE IS SUPER DISRESPECTFUL, RIGHT?!' The kids did lower their volume but the adults still said nothing. One adult told the girl it was some 6th grader graduation thing. After he paid he had the audacity to say 'tell the owner I was here'. read more

Opening day! Cute little spot right at the corner of the intersection right on Fair Oaks Blvd. Staff were super friendly and excited to be part of the neighborhood. The ice cream was delicious with good portion sizes. I forgot to take a picture in my excitement, but I purchased a waffle cone with mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's Gunther's ice cream so you know it'll be good as it's a local favorite. No seating inside but there's a nice area to sit right along the curb outside. T shirts also available with more merchandise on the way. Looking forward to coming back and trying all the flavors and the shakes too! read more

Came here with the family Wednesday evening after dinner time. The location has plenty of parking (not only on the street but also the village parking lot is right around the corner with plenty of spots). It was hitting 90+ degrees so we knew it might be busy. We walked in and its a small little area but they make it work and its nice and fresh inside. People were grabbing their ice cream and they were moving out of the way. Once of the girls working asked us if we were ready to order or if we had any questions, and my daughters immediately asked for their vanilla ice cream cone...and once the lady handed it to them they politley asked for sprinkles and the lady added them with a smile saying "of course!" I went with the 50/50 which is Gunthers Freeze at the bottom of a cup, vanilla ice cream in the middle, and another Gunthers Freeze flavor on top. I did Guava freeze and Straberry freeze...and as a longtime Gunthers patron...this is identicle to Gunthers and its in our own backyard...Fair Oaks. I love this. My girls loved their cones and I am sure we will be back plenty more times this summer and I will have chance to try all the flavors. This place is super cute and a good ice cream spot to visit! We paid about $8 per ice cream. Service was great and the girl working there was really sweet. After a couple bites of the ice cream it started to taste just okay- nothing crazy. Couldn't finish it either. read more

Such a cutie little spot and great addition to the village! Ice cream options & concoctions are 10/10. The sweet gal working, I unfortunately didn't get her name but she was a 1 woman show and rocked it with a line almost out the door! So pleasant and friendly, offered us samples even though (to me) it seemed busy, she was fantastic! (Wednesday 6/10 7:30pm-ish so she gets credit!) The CUTEST ice cream shop. Yes, there were no chairs and parking can be tough, BUT how amazing is it that this shop is a short walk down to the historical Old Fair Oaks Bridge or that you get to walk around a cute little town if you do have to park down the road!!! There's also Village Park a short walk away with picnic tables, a huge grassy area, and a park. So many places to enjoy this delicious Gunther's ice cream. We will take definitely be driving 45 minutes across town to enjoy some delicious ice cream and a beautiful walk down to the river. A much needed addition to Fair Oaks Village- finally a delicious, reasonably priced, dessert option to wrap up date night, family night, or just something to enjoy walking around a beautiful part of Fair Oaks. A cute little place for ice cream in Old Fair Oaks Village. It's just opened, and is working through the process. Went there on opening day, and YAY, the line was out the door. I'm so happy that we have Gunther's ice cream in the Village. Maybe the person who gave this great little place a one might try to understand that during a soft opening, things aren't going to be perfect. The Scoops were quite large. They were NOT two tablespoons. The other complainer, from the soft opening day, may not be familiar with our very small Village, but there's parking to be had. You can walk to the park from the ice cream shop or the American River. The prices are reasonable for these days and for the quality. read more

Scoops are SO small. Like 2 tablespoons. We went on opening day and the staff was not friendly or welcoming. They seemed annoyed we were there. Parking was hard to find, and there is no place to sit inside or outside. I take my kids to ice cream as a special treat where we sit down, chat, and bond, and there is not a chair in sight. read more

This is my new favorite ice cream shop!! I have gone two times and got the rocky road both occasions. It was exactly what you look for in a perfect ice cream and ice cream cone. The whole vibe of the shop is great and I love that it is in a shaded area so you can sit outside and enjoy your ice cream. The workers were very kind and gave me a perfect scoop.
