The afternoon/early evening crowd and bartenders are great. The night crowd is sketchy and the night bartenders are rude. It is a true dive, is in, actually smells like sewage most of the time. read more

You won't find a bar with bigger shots than here! They are also being compliant with the stupid Covid bull-shit! The beer is ALWAYS cold! Best dive bar in Longmont. Your other options are 3's or Speakeasy. To stay focused on this review, it's better than those two. The draft beer is cold. And delicious. They have decent food too which is a surprise. Darts, pool tables, and a very spacious patio. My only gripe is parking, they are busy and very limited on parking. But it's a fun environment with great bartenders. If you act a fool they will take care of it asap and that's where the negative reactions are coming from here. If you're visiting Longmont for the first time, I highly recommend this if you're a dive bar fan. read more

Terrible place. Terrible service. Rude bartenders. Was with a group of people that were playing pool, drinking, spending lots of money and tipping. We were all having a good time until I tried to order another drink but was instead yelled at for my friend's "rude behavior", even though he had no interaction with this bartender at all because my friend was playing pool and didn't order drinks from this lady. The rude bar wench then kicked me out for simply asking what happened and what did he do? Then the witch behind the bar proceeded to flip me off, clap and yell at me to get the f out. Making a whole scene purposefully trying to humiliate me for no good reason. Don't come here if you're looking for a fun dive bar. This place is full of sketchy creeps and terrible bartenders. I don't know why all the reviews are bad, if you're looking for something boujee than go somewhere else . This place is obviously a dive bar but the customer service is always good . Drinks are somewhat cheap. There's pool tables and smoking area where U can see a view of the parking lot . It's hard to park there when it's full so watch your car. Most of the people who go here are locals and are down to earth. Probably the only bar I'd drink till I throw up or pass out at. Lol .. nothing negative about this place . Our group got kicked out five minutes after arriving but only because the bartender screwed up the drinks and when was asked to fix them, management was too sorry to take care of the customer and actually ensure they got what they ordered. Too bad sad service would still have gotten over $100 in tips from our group alone. We found a much better place to hang out, thank god. Seriously a nasty dive bar, so if you like stinky dirty dive bars with POOR service and nasty waitresses who will get you kicked out if THEY screw up, this is the place for you! Best dive bar in Longmont. Hands down. I agree with Darryn above. Great place. You can walk up to 99% of the patrons and start a conversation. Bartenders are 8/10 on the friendly scale, and a 10/10 on the service scale, as long as you tip. Included: -Karaoke nights on Tuesdays. Very fun!! Contests, prizes, and even if they laugh at you you get a congrats and a pat on the back and high fives all around. -Bowling game(2011) -5+ dart boards (with league nights) -All the time: 50C Hot dogs (Free on mondays as of 10/2010) -Bar menu (fryer) -Pool tables -Internet Jukebox -$1 PBR cans -Ladys nights on wednesdays -Outdoor heated/covered area -banquet room -Holiday specials (potlucks, etc) All they are missing is a sunday morning sidewalk special! To all my frrrrriiieends, go to Mccarthy's! *Edit- The tenders are certainly fair-weather(tipper) friends. I always tipped $1 per drink order, usually more, but one day I had nothing to tip and even apologized. The tender got nasty with me and I told her I didn't appreciate her attitude. This is the diviest bar I've ever been in. Bring your Clorox wipes and don't touch anything. Stools and tables are rickety and some broken. The female bartenders are horrible, rude and just down right unfriendly. The choices available for beer or mixed drinks is almost non-existent. However, the DJ is extremely nice and fun on karaoke Friday nights. Most of the customers are usuals and extremely friendly. Mccarthy's is one of the more popular dives in Longmont, and for good reason. Their beer selection is small but cold as all hell, the service is friendly and efficient, and the clientele are all down-to-earth locals looking for the same thing as you. The only complaint I have is that I often don't get out until after 11-12 at night, and once in a while I drive by and they're -- GASP -- closed? Yeah, that was a shocker. LOVE this place. The people that run it are very friendly and welcoming. Unlike a few other places like The Bootstrap! Fun playing pool and darts and very good drinks. And karaoke!!! I highly recommend this fun and friendly pub. read more

The bartender chicks are terrible, minus one of them. This hole in the wall is now charging $2 for any purchase over $10 when someone uses debit/credit Also did I mention the service is terrible? You'll be disappointed - don't go. They recently just fired and 86'd their only nice aspect ( a nice couple with karaoke business) what Dbags! The bar is poorly lit - the bartenders aren't really bartenders at all. they're slow, lousy company and well...bullies. Can't wait for you to go out of business!! read more

I was there on a weekday looking for a dive, and McCarthy's definitely filled the requirements. The crowd seemed a little shady, but they all kept to their own group of people. I was glad to find a place with pool tables, multiple dart boards, and a decent jukebox... Oh, and they also serve reasonably priced beer; not sure about the mixer prices tho. They have a nice "tiki" bar out back as well which could use some work. Overall tho, it's just a run down bar to go and kick it. read more

Went down to this pub for a two shilling ale, but the bread on the counter was going stale. I told them that my girl patty and I needed fresh bread soon or I'd punch them in the face and bark at the moon. That was probably uncalled for, but we were having a nice time at their party. Patty was nice. She was pale and cute, but they wanted to throw us out of there like an old piece of fruit. The manager told me something about shotgunning beck's and drinking tequila with our waiter Andrew. I respectfully declined but I asked for some Guinness in cans. He said no, so I told him I had a friend at the liquor store. We wanted to stay forever, but this one guy named "Fat Lenny" (who was wearing a funny hat, listening to reggae, and I think was high on herion) pointed at Patty and said, "She's your baby?" That was when she wanted to leave and I was like "Take me away. Now I'm freaking out!!" Sorry Charlie! We won't be back to this Basom!!!! read more
