One of the most boring clubs I have ever been to. Techno music blaring, meh drinks, and thin go go dancers that have class in the morning. Not very diverse in music selection and no room to dance. Works for the 21-24 crowd who just want to be around ppl but if you are used to places like Dallas, Houston, NYC, Philly, Miami this ain't it. Assault Overload. Best parts: visuals: entryway, talented dancers with light toys and aerial artists. Worst parts: sexual assault (was touched inappropriately twice), very crowded 'dance floor' (so i couldnt even tell who it was who was assaulting me)...almost sardines but could still wiggle a bit n get bumped by other wigglers...what else...oh yes assault by steam or fake smoke/fog machine. It literally blasts right down onto you and you are forced to inhale it and endure a complete lack of vision for a minute. That was very frightening and dangerous to have vision impaired with no warning. Pretty sure my sinus problems are gonna be back from inhaling god knows what chemical. Auditory assault: sound physically blasting to where your lungs and eardrums bounce with the impact...i honestly couldnt even tell you if the music was good but im pretty sure it wasnt great. So yeah, come to Rose Room if youd like your senses assaulted in almost every way. I lasted less than 20 minutes inside before I left. The blast of fake smog to my sinus whih blinded me temporarily and shocked me was the last straw. I was very impression with those many floors, lights, and music in my first times. I was amazed. But that night, My friend and I was looking for my friends and cant found him. So we enter inside dance stage from third floors outside. we went to down stair and happened to stop in middle to take look for friends. Bouncer was there and speak in my ear, which I cant hear at all because I am deaf. He give me unclear gesture that i will never understand what he mean. then I look at my friend and told him if he understand him. He said no. Bouncer tap my shoulder very hard to get my attention. I was pissed off being get hurt from that bouncer. Then, other bouncer come to us and give simple sign that very clear. he said go down or up cant stand in middle. First time here and didn't have a great experience. One of my friends had on a popular shoe called Jordans and was denied at the door. There were other guys there with converse and Adidas on so?? Strike 2, when we got in, 2 of my friends sat on the couch that is to your right when you get off the cool escalator. Within 1 minute, a bouncer approaches them and tells them "this isn't a hangout spot". OBVIOUSLY. They were waiting on us to finish taking pics. Strike 3, I set my drink down on a ledge to take, yet another picture, and was yelled at to hold my drink... Overall, okay place but didn't live up to some of these reviews. read more

The Rose Room has a great vibe and a pretty fun place however when it's packed it's PACKED. Not much room to walk anywhere. 100% sure they aren't following fire code. I really wish they would keep track of how many people they let it and cap it. It's not a popular thing to do however it's just not safe to have that many people in that space. read more

This place is cool, cause it's really the only luxury club type of thing that exist in Austin. The go go girls are a good touch and who doesn't love the lit up escalators. However, the place is def a tad bit small. Esp for being a night club...I've been to several night clubs that were huge and spacious, sometimes w multiple floors and extremely over the top light shows. but it's fine it's not a huge deal. But the only thing I truly hate about this place and the reason i don't go to this place regularly is the music. Or rather the Dj. It's awful. The several times I've been there I literally just almost stand there not knowing what to do bcs every time he did put a somewhat good song on that I could dance to, he would mix it up completely awful and then transition it to a completely different genre of song. I think the only time I had a good time from the music was once and it was bcs I came there almost to closing time and extremely drunk already so I didn't notice much. I know several people who feel this way about the music, and I heard thru the grapevine that the management there refuses to pay for higher paid Dj's like the ones @ dt, which may be the reason the Dj at rose room is subpar. I highly recommend hiring a better Dj, the business would end up doing extremely well and they would see more crowds coming from all over Austin & not just the ones living near the domain. read more

If the security doesn't know you they will make u wait in line and let their friends go through without problem, then when u confront them about what they doing they get the cops involved bc they don't want people saying anything to them.also they say they have a strict dress code but only if you are not a regular, again they will get the cops if u confront them on that, also the manager when I ask to speak to him came down and told me he wasn't the manager. I came here with a friend on a Friday night and it was very crowded. No complaints as far as the bouncers or bartenders go. The most important thing about a "night club" such as what this joint is trying to be is the DJ. WELL the DJ is absolutely awful. I didn't come to a club to listen to Justin Bieber and other top 40 crap,I wanted to hear some deep house beats or something at least danceable. I honestly think my mom yelling at Alexa to play her book club party playlist could have had more people dancing than this DJ. On more than one occasion, we have had female members of our group inappropriately touched and groped (aka sexually harassed). We have witnessed a male patron remove his t-shirt and touch himself right on the dance floor. The management seriously needs to reconsider the admission policies or else risk losing patrons and reputation. read more

Being the only dance club in north Austin I was hoping this could be an alternative to going downtown. Looks like I'll have to keep waiting. The biggest problem with this club is the DJ. I don't think the music was mixed to be danced to. It's fine if you just want go out with a group of friends and laugh and dance ironically to bad music. If you want to get some serious dancing on this is not the place. Not only does the DJ ruin the beat to every song but it's far too crowded. I went over to 77 degrees hoping there would be different music out there, no such luck. They were pumping the same office party mix from the dance floor. I was at the Rose Room this weekend and I have to say it validated some opinions I have received in the last 6 months in that this establishment does not cater to African Americans. I was racially profiled at this establishment and as a result will never set foot in there again. Additionally I will encourage others to do the same! Being someone who has lived in the Domain for the past couple years I have established positive relationships with bar/restaurant employees and the police/security in the area. While most of the bars are inclusive at the Domain, the Rose Room time and time again holds up to the reputation on not being a place where African Americans are welcome. The staff at the Rose Room would rather jump to a conclusion and pass judgement rather than listed objectively to both sides of a disagreement. It is an environment where certain people are singled out which is very discouraging. There are more options in the Domain I would consider for an outing that provides an atmosphere that in inclusive and appreciative for all people. I will recommend the staff to include the management to attend diversity training so they are able to communicate effectively to people who are different than themselves. But until then stay away!! read more

So, I tried to get into this establishment because some local Austin folks said it was the place to go in the Domain. Walked to the door with some new shorts I purchased earlier and some solid colored Nikes thinking what I was wearing was good since the guy at the door was letting lots of folks in dressed similarly. Now I am the last person to pull the race card & hate when it is used in excess just because someone didn't like the service or was looking like unpresentable to be in an upscale establishment. The guy at the door told me my new shorts I was wearing were 'TOO BAGGY'. But this was clearly a case of it being a 'WE DON'T WANT BLACK PEOPLE SPENDING THERE $$$ HERE' night. I know this to be the case because a few white individuals standing in front of me with 'BAGGIER SHORTS AND DIRTY FLIP FLOP SANDALS ON' were let in with no problem. I should have taken a pic but wasn't in the mood to make a scene when there were plenty of bars in the area that had no problem taking black people's money. So FYI, if you are black THEY HAVE A SELECTIVE DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENT AND ONLY CHOOSE TO ENFORCE IT WHEN THEY DECIDE IT'S A NO NEGROS ALLOWED NIGHT. I've had the same experience at Kung Fu saloon but they had to get sued numerous times in order for them to quit enforcing there Jim Crow policies. So as a frequent visitor to Austin, I now know as a black man with excess income to spend that I am not welcome at Red Room/Club 77 since my clothes must be tighter than other patrons who have privileged skin tone. Overhyped dance-lounge. Despite awesome decor, free cover and relaxing appearances, this place is not too fun. The music mix is AWFUL and too rapid inside and out on the patios. Ladies beware: creepers abound. The gogo dancers and Latin nights are the only thing this place has going besides location, decor and hype. Don't wear high-tops or they won't let you in ( not that you'd like to like to once you see the sad dancing and hear the least enjoyable music mix in the city.) I went here once for my cousins birthday and went in, the DJ was horrible and would start a good song and then it just died, he'd spin and move to a horrible remix or a slow song. I tried the Salsa/Latin affair night and I will say that night was fun but when I attended the 1 year anniversary night that they had. There was a gentlemen who had been standing behind the seating area I was in for a while and then started to shout/cuss/become very irritated and crushing his cup. He was swearing at several of our guests sitting in the area who had never once turned around and said anything to this man. When I went to the bar and let the staff know they sent a manager over. The manager came over asked the man who clearly was on something more than just alcohol if he was all good and then walked away. (I work in a field where understanding what is a medical condition, substance use, and other things affecting life. I've seen what mixing alcohol and other substances can do to a person).I had asked that he be moved from our area because he was making several of our guests feel uncomfortable. When I contacted the rose room by message, I received no response from a manager in regards to my concerns and how the manager dealt with the situation. They have very poor management staff, I've had several drinks thrown on me from patrons from above down onto the dance floor, never once addressed. I have grown up around restaurants and know plenty of family members and friends who own clubs, the way that the Rose Room management staff handled the situation and never once reached out to apologize or even address my concern clearly shows they don't care about the patron but also if that was to happen to a staff member. None of my family members or friends that own their own clubs or manage one would ever allow that to happen and would find ways to improve the experience. read more

This place really was disrespectful tonight, as we were celebrating my friends birthday on February 25 we got denied entry due to the birthday boy wearing Jordan's. Which is completely BS because I've been in there multiple times and saw people with jordans on but whatever. Everything about this dance club is pretty much awesome. Except for their lack of dance music. Which you would think might be an issue. If you're really into dancing to the sound of shoes tumbling in the dryer, occasionally spliced in with a spot of music on the occasion, then hey, this is definitely your spot! Stop and take your money elsewhere...especially if you are of a race other than white. We were doing VIP/table service there a couple of weeks ago - which setting that up with their VIP host was a feat in itself. Nonetheless, we eventually get it set up. We're having a great time until I walked a friend outside to the curb to catch her ride. At that time I was denied re-entry, although my entire party is upstairs and we're spending hundreds of dollars. Eventually I am detained by police, but observing that other people are going in/out of the club, even a member of my own party. I start to pay attention and realize the only thing different is the color of our skin - they're white, I'm not. I've read many of the Facebook reviews since then and see a common theme with this place is mistreatment of people that are not white. My whole experience with this place, from the time I started to set up the VIP service til the time I made it to my car was a nightmare. One of the officers agreed that I was being mistreated by the owner - yes THE OWNER - and that I should file a complaint. My advice to you is to turn around and enjoy many of the other establishments within The Domain. read more
