Ferdi Special Po'Boy (roast beef debris, ham, provolone, shredded cabbage, shaved onions, mayo, hot sauce)

LOVED this sandwich! Service was really quick, just a few minutes to the table. They have plenty of drink options and several TV's if you want to watch a game. It's a fun vibe inside.

    The restroom sign!

Great food and service. Not top tier ambiance, but interesting none the less. Pure NOLA!!

Finally tried this place for lunch and could not have had a better experience. My husband and I split the roast beef debris po boy and it was amazing! So much food I could never have finished the whole thing. Gumbo and hush puppies were so good as well. Absolutely will be back!

This location is in a really nice part of town with a beautiful ambience and surrounding building architecture outside to match it. The young ladies who took our order were really friendly and helpful. I ordered a fried shrimp po'boy and it was DELICIOUS. Very flavourful and fresh. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Everything was great!! The only thing I didn't care for was their Gumbo, it was a little too salty for ME, but other than that the Oysters were fried so lightly! I had a slush Hurricane for my drink! The fries that came with my oyster basket were great!! Shout out to McKenzie the bartender she was awesome!! And the ambience if you love the movie water boy then you will love the ambience is very Louisiana very New Orleans but very much Water boy I loved it!

I got the shrimp gumbo with the hush puppies as an appetizer and both were very good. I will have to come back and try one of the poor boys.

The more polished cousin of the Forest Park location. All the food is delicious. If you're craving beach food but find yourself inland, the basket of fried shrimp here is delicious. Light, fresh breading, good shrimp, and crinkle-cut fries with cajun seasoning. The remoulade and cocktail sauce had a great flavor. I ordered both to maximize the flavor payoff of my dipping. Fast-casual! Order at the front and they bring it out to you. Great spot to hang out for an afternoon drink, too. They had a few frozen drink options like hurricanes and bushwackers. Count.me.in. Overall, great place for a quick lunch with a friend or coworker! Parking is a little bit difficult and there's been construction going on, causing traffic in MB Village for what feels like one million years. I will definitely be back to have some drinks with my friends on hot afternoons this summer!

Delicious Cajun food in a casual joint with live music. There's a lot going on inside The Rougaroux, and it's all good! You order and pay at the register, they give you a number, you find a table, and they bring you your food. The staff here are super friendly and very helpful! I had a Caesar salad with fried oysters along with their "World Famous Crawfish Zombie Bread." The salad was fresh with an excellent dressing, lots of freshly shaven Parmesan cheese, and 6 perfectly fried plump oysters. It was delicious. The Crawfish Bread included crawfish, spices, and cheese on an open-faced fresh hoagie roll. I would have liked to see a few more crawfish for the $18 price. The flavor profile was a bit mild, so I added a touch of hot sauce. The restaurant and the restrooms are both very clean and well decorated! I really enjoyed my visit and I look forward to returning soon.

We came to Birmingham to do some scouting and brought Mom & Dad's pup, Lucy. So our search was narrowed down to dog friendly places. The Rougaroux offer shaded, patio seating in the back of the restaurant which was perfect. We arrived at about 1315 with a line from the register to the front door. Everyone order was taken expediently and then seating was open. We waited only 5 or so minutes for our food. Everything tasted okay. Nothing that we tasted exceeded expectations but we did notice many other delicious menu items worth trying next time. Looking forward to going back and updating our review to reflect 5 stars. 02-08-2025

The catfish is made fresh to order which takes a little bit of time but the wait wasn't horrible. The fish was hot but just alright. The Cajun corn was just straight corn out of the can but I got it replaced with greens which were very tasty! The portion size is VERY tiny though for the price. The fries are frozen shoestring fries but the seasoning was very tasty! I want to try the chicken wings if they still have them whenever I come back to the Pizitz but no rush to get back.

Occupying the space previously used by Spoon and Ladle, Broad Street is next to Uno Tacos and across from J Wings. A native of New Orleans, Kelli Caulfield was raised in Birmingham and never forget her fondness for New Orleans food and culture. So much so that she started a New Orleans themed sno-ball "truck" called NOLA Ice in 2011. Six years later, she added another venture to her resume and started the Broad Street Peaux Boy food truck. It's success has now lead to this location in the Pizitz Food Hall. By the way, I love the clever spin on the spelling and pronunciation of "poboy" to "peaux boy". Unlike Walk-On's or Pappadeauxs, the menu at Broad Street Peaux Boys is short and delectable. It has the basics such as chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice and chicken and sausage pasta jambalaya (or pasta-laya). This menu also has some changes from their food truck menu, but their peauxboys are basically the same. Broad St is proud of their "overstuffed" peauxboys as advertised on their menu and website. All their peauxboys are "dressed" with lettuce, tomato and pickle on french bread and served with your choice of chips or cajun fries with one additional side of dirty rice, cajun corn, or collard greens. Their choices of Peauxboys include: The Parkway is their classic fried shrimp, catfish peauxboy. The Hot Boy is a lemon pepper "hot" catfish on french bread. If you like your catfish blackened and covered with their remoulade sauce, try the Parkway. The Cassie is their classic fried shrimp but tossed in hot buffalo sauce then topped with blue cheese crumbles and ranch on french bread. Finally the Hollet is a peauxboy made with roast beef in their special au-jus sauce. Beyond Peaux Boys, they have what they call Broad St Boxes which include Shrimp Box, Catfish Box, and a Catfish n Shrimp Box. There's even a Broad St Salad Box which can be served with your choice of catfish or shrimp. These are also served with a choice of sides and hushpuppies. Studying their menu, I had planned on trying the gumbo, red beans and rice, and a shrimp peaux boy. Unfortunately that didn't work out as planned because when I arrived, the kitchen was shutting down. They were closing early due to impending storms. Although most everything was already put away, the last employee there felt sorry for me and offered to cook some simplified boxes for me. I couldn't say no so I got a shrimp box and a catfish box. Both only had cajun fries. The catfish and shrimp were both fried in the same "fish fry" powder. The catfish filet was a nice size and fried perfectly. The batter wasn't thick but just enough to seal in the oil and juices of the catfish. The catfish was oh so good. Yom Yom Yom. It wasn't too salty or overly covered in a thick batter... just the way I like it. The fries were on par and complimented the catfish and shrimp. The shrimp box had about 8 large shrimp that were also fried to perfection. With the same delicious light "crust" that meets your taste buds first, you then taste the inviting shrimp underneath. I'm quite sure that the shrimp that's used in their peaux boy will be cooked the same way so I'm trying to imagine how these shrimp would taste sandwiched between their french bread and dressed with tomatoes, lettuce and pickle with possibly mayo or remoulade sauce. It was torture trying to imagine that so that's why I'm definitely returning. I'm not a big roast beef peauxboy kindaguy, but I may even try the Hollet. If you fancy sno-balls, feast your eyes on all the different flavors that NOLA Ice has to offer right under the same roof. Also owned by Caulfied, it made sense for NOLA Ice to also be there next to Broad St Peaux Boys to tickle your taste buds. Broad St Peaux Boy may not be a big place, but they have big flavors. Nothing fancy about their silverware or dishes since everything is served in disposable containers, but their food is cooked fresh and to perfection. Don't forget that they still have a food truck and they cater. Welcome to the Pizitz Food Hall, Broad St Peaux Boys!

Our waitress was very, very nice and personable and knowledgeable. Any questions that I had she always had an answer for and she was very patient with me as I am kind of a picky eater. The crab claws were amazing the seasoning on the crab claws Were a hit. I ordered the redfish Rockefeller and my daughter ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Let me say the red fish Rockefeller has a distinct taste. It is very overpowering from the fish. It has a sweet onion taste and if you like that, then I would recommend this dish, but I didn't like it at all. Our waitress was very nice and told me to pick another dish. I decided to go with chicken dish. I think it's called Bayou chicken I'm not quite sure but it has a crawfish Louie sauce. I asked for the sauce on the side just in case I didn't like it and I'm glad I did. The sauce is thick, very thick like a gravy and was tasteless. I told her I would just pay for the entrée and not worry about sending it back, but the manager came over and asked me how was the dish and I told her I wasn't a fan but I would pay for it. He said no and brought me the menu again and told me to pick another entrée I was surprised because normally by this time you know, people are over it and, not really willing to please the customer but they were. I decided just to play it safe and go with fried shrimp which came with fries and coleslaw. I'm glad I chose this dish because I really enjoyed it. Also, the French 75 was really really good.

However, I took off a star because not a single staff member shared how things work there! After being told we could sit anywhere, we found ourselves just waiting without any guidance. At last, a server delivered food to the table next to ours, which prompted us to ask why no one had come to us. She was super apologetic and handed us menus while explaining that we need to go to the register to order and pay first, and then we'd get a number for our table. As for drinks, if you want an adult beverage, you have to order those separately at the bar. You'd think there'd be some signage indicating the process since it's a bit different from the usual! But let's talk about the food! We split the shrimp & grits and chicken & pancakes. While I usually prefer my grits creamy, I still found the shrimp mix to be tasty! The pancake was a tad thick for my liking, but the fried chicken was definitely the highlight--it was absolutely delicious! Oh, and the Hennessy Margarita? Totally on point! I was excited to try the stuffed grape leaves and my plan was to get the hummus with pita bread and add lamb to it for my entrée. Unfortunately, they were out of the stuffed grape leaves, and when I tried to order the hummus, they were also out of the hummus. That was unfortunate, but I went ahead and ordered the chicken Shawarma roll which came with french fries. We both liked our food, which was fresh and flavorful.
