Menu was a good size and everyone sounded delicious. For appetizer we order the lumpia. They came out nice and hot and were yummy. For dinner I got the chicken adobo and my husband ordered the Bicol express. Both dishes were yummy and tasted fresh. We ordered flan to go for dessert. The restaurant's decor is fun. The night we went they were having karaoke, which is fun to watch. Overall great experience, glad we tried it and we will def go again!

The slightly sweet bun perfectly paired with the pork meat. The Shish Kabobs were perfectly seasoned and grilled. For drinks we had the Bunko Pandan latte and their strawberry cheesecake latte. Both the drinks were perfectly balanced and wasn't too sweet. We went for a late brunch and ended up missing out on their delicious pastries. Looking forward to being back and trying the rest of their menu. The service was prompt and this place is great for larger groups as well.

We've only tried the restaurant side but one of these days, I will try their cafe and the many offerings. They were busy when we came, had a huge party but they were able to seat us right away. The place was lovely with space to lounge around in the sofa. We started with some lumpiang Shanghai. While that didn't blow me away, the rest of our meal did. I had the pork adobo and my husband ordered the pancit. The serving is enough for 2 people but it was a great way to try different things and have some leftover for the next day. I had both leftovers. The pancit was really good. Not dry and not oily either, just right. Staff were friendly and pleasant. I can't wait to come back!

I confessed to Randy that I wasn't familiar with Filipino food, so to just bring me something as a newbie to their cuisine. He brought the Adobo Chicken, which is chicken braised in garlic, vinegar, soy sauce, peppercorn and bay leaves along with steamed rice and Lumpiang. The chicken was a very generous portion and silly me, I asked for a knife. I didn't need one as it was as tender as could be. My only wish was that it came with something green, a veggie or something, but there were lots of other dishes that had some green, so it was obviously just the recipe. The rice was also a generous portion and done perfectly. The Lumpiang were very tasty and the chili dipping sauce accented them nicely. While not crowded on a Tuesday at lunchtime, Randy told me they often sell out on weekends, so plan accordingly. This is the kind of place where you go when you want to try something different, but either don't know what, or are afraid to venture out. But do give them a try, and I think you'll go back. We had a choice of two Pinoy restaurants in the St Louis Top One Hundred, so chose this one in the Gravois Park neighborhood. Parking is all street but wasn't too hard to find a spot and it was unmetered. The inside has been lovingly remodeled with a giant mural depicting a Filipino marketplace, and a set-up that supports a coffee shop atmosphere. It hadn't yet got too busy, so the group was able to find seating while we stood in line to order. It's a casual style, where you order and pay first (they use Square so got the receipt via SMS), and the food is delivered to you as it is made, with self-bussing. They have both a lunch and dinner menu. The Fattened Caf. (abbreviation for cafe NOT cafeteria) is marketed as bbq, so our group focused on the meat dishes, all wanting to make it shareable. Bistek ($22) - my wife's go-to when eating at a Filipino restaurant, this simple dish of beef pieces flavored in a strongly soy sauce based marinade was good, much better than most versions I've had restaurants in LA. The presentation was fine-dining, with enough gravy (sawsawan) to pour over the white rice that accompanied. Lechon Special ($20) - this was an off-menu addition, and was the one dish (presentation and taste) that would fit in to any fine dining restaurant, a must to be eaten on-site. It's a great introduction to show how awesome pork belly can be, if prepared this way. The texture contrasts hit in each bite, and the curry based sauce was different but worked really well with the meat. Housemade smoked Spam ($15) - This pork product is house-made, so not sure if they got permission from Hormel to call it this. In any case, it was delicious and the grilled pineapple slice that came with it was a perfect accompaniment. Spicy Chicken Longganisa ($15) - I had given up finding a good Filipino sausage that I liked until this one..and it's chicken based! It had the right amount of spiciness to counter act the slight sweet, and loved how the natural casing had been crisped to produce the snap that I adore. Plus the meat grind wasn't so fine...really loved this dish. Most of the dishes came with garlic rice and red cabbage atchara, which I liked (they also sell the green papaya version as well). Ube Banana Pudding ($7.50) - this dessert really worked with the mixed flavors of the banana and ube, with the one bite that I took enough for me to finish the meal. My wife also got the San Juanico Mango Bourbon ($11) - a mango bourbon kalamansi lemonade, which she enjoyed. Other drinks were offered in cans, along with a self serve water station. Service was OK throughout, as it was more of a fast casual restaurant. I think the quality of food deserves a more formal sit-down experience, mainly because we had to place multiple orders as we found the food to be so good. This meant getting back up to stand in line which is fine if dining alone, but not so much when with old friends. But the price reflects this fast-casual way, and can definitely appreciate the proprietors doing what they can to keep prices down.
