We came here for a birthday brunch and were pretty impressed with the restaurant. Ambiance: The restaurant is very big and can clearly accommodate big groups. They have booths as well as tables. It's cute as they've created a nice flower wall for pictures. They also have a nice outdoor area. Service: Everyone was very friendly and nice. Service was fairly fast too Food: We chose to order off the menu instead of the buffet. We've found that in general buffet food is average so as a family we tend to avoid those. I liked the way the menu was organized by vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Their appetizer menu is quite extensive and had a lot of great choices. The entrée menu was the typical options that you'd expect to see. They did have a lot of bread options which is always a plus. Appetizers: The appetizers were amazing and on point. It felt like. sliced chicken breasts were tossed in butter chicken sauce, so I give it two stars. The rice was light and fluffy, but slightly greasy, a 3 1/2 starside dish. The dal dish was a very big disappointment, especially at the price. All in all, with the exception of the non-which was delicious, just. an ordinary meal. I was staying at the Holiday Inn Westbury for the first time. The Royale Indian restaurant is connected to the Holiday Inn's hotel lobby so you don't have to walk outside. I found that the restaurant named "The Royale" Indian restaurant was rated #1 on Yelp, therefore, I ate dinner here. I love good Indian food. The Royale was empty when I arrived at around 6pm, therefore, I chose my table in the middle of the dining room. Their knowledgeable server Gabby recommended their Kashmiri Lamb Rogan Josh for $19.99, which I enjoyed with medium spice. I enjoyed my garlic naan for $2.99. I also enjoyed my Sam Adams draft IPA for only $3, because it was happy hour. My total bill including taxes, but less gratuities was only $28. I also enjoyed a complimentary basic buffet breakfast at this restaurant compliments of the Holiday Inn. My server asked me if I wanted some bacon, which I responded in the affirmative. Heard about this place from some food pages and unfortunately my friend and I were incredibly disappointed. The prices charged for the food and portions do not really add up. The dishes lacked spices so that was a little underwhelming. Additionally, the waiter never notified us about any allergies- the sambosas had peanuts in them and that was not indicated on the menu, my friend noticed them and she told me about it. As someone who has a peanut allergy, I was incredibly uncomfortable because after we told the waiter, he laughed at it and was not at all apologetic- it was incredibly unprofessional. This is my second time dining at the Royale. Interestingly the menu changed between the two visits. We started with the chicken samosas which my husband said were good but he was not accustomed to the flakey texture. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi Mutter, Paneer butter masala, and garlic Naan. The establishment is decorated nicely and the service is friendly and efficient. We enjoyed all the dishes, I really loved the paneer it wad so creamy and delicious. Clearly we had left overs for the next two days which I love. Randomly dropped in to this hidden gem of a place, we are very pleasantly surprised by the fullness of their spices and the quality of their fresh ingredients. A "Royale" disappointment suffering from identity crisis! My husband and I are connoisseurs of Indian food (and I am half Indian). I was excited to try the Sunday buffet as so few restaurants offer a buffet in post COVID world. For $20 per person, my expectations going in were elevated. The experience was sub-par overall and I would not return. Food: We were shocked to see chicken francaise, garlic knots, pasta on an Indian buffet. The very limited Indian dishes were average (chicken curry (watery), spinach (ok), chickpeas (undercooked) and chicken kebab (some pieces undercooked). NO pakoras, samosas, chat, NO Naan or any indian bread, NO condiments such as cilantro, mango, or tamarind chutney. Had to wait till 12:15 for white rice to be put on the buffet. Service: Dirty plates sat on our table until we paid our check. A few young waiters walking around, pleasant but inexperienced. Ambiance: Clean, open space BUT if you say you open at 12 noon, then I don't expect to see the staff moving tables and doing chores in the dining room at 12:15. Background music turned on when we were paying our check. Outside of ourselves, not a soul dining in the restaurant. In summary, there are other places in neighboring towns which offer a wider array of Indian cuisine at a better price. Most importantly, don't try to be everything to everybody....if you're an Indian restaurant, then be one and do it well. With the great flavor, spot-on consistency and perfectly cooked lentils, this is now my go to dish at The Royale. Utter disappointment. I follow them on social media, or rather "followed" them on social media and their food posts looked absolutely mouth-watering, We finally decided to go for a Sunday buffet they kept advertising. It was an absolute disappointment. We got there right at Noon and a young man at the door barely acknowledged us and actually seemed rather confused as to what we were doing there. Finally, we asked someone passing by whether they had a Sunday buffet. The person said yes and told us we could sit anywhere and enjoy???? It was incredibly awkward, confusing, and unwelcoming. At one point my partner went to a wall closer to where we decided to sit and the young man from earlier told us that was not for us and only the buffet along the entrance was for us. So we stuck to that, A different man then headed over and said that's not true we could eat from the entire row along the wall. Anyway, the food served in the buffet was bland, and NOTHING like what is shown on their social media posts. Even the Naan was terrible like someone took pizza dough and turned it into a naan. I have had the same dish in the past from them, it had nothing but Cholas (like it should be). So much so it was not enough for even one Bhatura even though one order comes with two Bhaturas. I called the restaurant and told them about it. I ordered another order of just Chola in the middle of my dinner so that we could finish eating our other Bhatura. If the owner pays attention to the complaint, it could be avoided but he doesn't seem to care anymore. I had to pay for the extra Chola order I placed because the first one was too small. I keep hearing from the owner that they have hired new people; hence the problem (that's the case each time I talk to him). It is no wonder this restaurant already has so many 5 star ratings because they certainly do not disappoint! I just went to The Royale today with my family for my birthday. We had a lovely time! The food was so flavorful and nicely presented, they didn't go wrong with a single dish we had! It was all delicious! And so reasonably priced as well! That was a nice surprise for a place that looked that good and food that was that tasty! The atmosphere of the place was excellent as well. My mum and I were mainly checking out the exterior pictures online before choosing the place, but the wind was kind of strong, so we ate inside instead. The interior has an excellent high end vibe while retaining a very comfortable feel to it. And we all loved the lights hanging from the ceiling, they were an excellent artistic choice for the space. I would say, they could use some nice paintings on the walls, because they're a little bare, but they're still a new restaurant, so there's always time to add. Notwithstanding, that certainly didn't detract from the experience. But now to the main reason we will absolutely be returning! And that is the service. Haven't had such nice and pleasant service like that in a long time. Our waitress, Lakshmi, as well as the owner took care of us! They were very attentive, but also gave us enough space. Their kind and pleasant demeanors were calming and sweet and their smiles were beaming and genuine! They were both very helpful when it came to describing the food so we could narrow down what we may like. My husband and I are huge fans of Indian food and have eaten at countless Indian restaurants over the years. Plus, I spent three weeks traveling around India with a friend a few years ago, so I can say that I have eaten some fantastic Indian food over the years. My husband and I agree that this was some of the BEST Indian food we have ever tasted. We shared the Vada Pav, the Kesari Malai Kafta, and the garlic naan. Everything was SO good!!! The service was perfect, and the room was peaceful and lovely. I am baffled by the less than flattering reviews, because their experiences definitely did not match ours! This restaurant is attached to the Holiday Inn that we were staying in, so to say that it was a bit of a surprise to get to eat such a yummy meal in our hotel is an understatement.
