I used to go to The Rustic Dallas frequently when I lived in Uptown as it was walking distance from my Uptown condo. After moving from my Uptown condo to Addison and then to Richardson where I now live, I guess I made the mistake of going to The Rustic Dallas on September 15, 2019 wearing a USA patriotic shirt, cowboy boots, blue jeans, and a United States Air Force bill cap which I almost always wear now as I am a patriotic US citizen although I am a constitutionalist not either conservative or liberal. I am NOT an extremely left-wing liberal as The Rustic Dallas staff must be. There was a Washington Redskins fan sitting by himself in a booth watching his Washington Redskins getting beat by our Dallas Cowboys that Sept. 15, 2019 afternoon. I made the mistake, I guess, of walking over to the Washington Redskin fan's table to talk to him, which I guess must be a "horrible" thing to do at The Rustic in Dallas. I did not realize how intoxicated this Redskins fan was until I returned to the bar where I had been sitting watching the Cowboys vs. Redskins game prior to going over to the Redskins fan's table to buy the Redskins fan a beer. I had been drinking very lightly - I did not drink any alcoholic beverage(s) prior to driving to The Rustic Dallas establishment that September 15, 2019 Sunday afternoon. The Rustic Dallas bartenders refused to serve the Redskins fan any more alcohol which was totally appropriate since the Redskins fan was quite drunk. The Redskins fan got really upset and cussed out the bartenders before storming out of The Rustic Dallas (the Redskins fan had already settled his tab with his waitress). After the Redskins fan stormed out of The Rustic Dallas, I told the bartenders that I did not blame them for refusing to sell him more alcoholic drinks and that I did not know that Redskins fan until I walked over to his table that September 15, 2019 afternoon. I've been both a bar back and a bartender when I returned to university to get a second bachelor's degree so I understand liability regarding serving alcohol to customers who are obviously quite intoxicated. I left the Rustic Dallas right after this. But I guess I was "guilty by association" because when I returned to The Rustic Dallas the Sunday in December to watch the second Cowboys vs. Redskins game, no one at The Rustic Dallas would even acknowledge my presence, much less serve me a beer. I was once again dressed in, I suspect, "enemy clothing" according to The Rustic Dallas staff, as I wore another USA patriotic shirt, cowboy boots, blue jeans and a United States Air Force bill cap. When I finally asked the bartender for a beer, he refused to serve me and shortly thereafter a 20-something woman who I guess was the manager-in-charge that evening told me I must leave The Rustic Dallas immediately. It was extremely embarrassing because I had been talking to other Rustic Dallas customers who had walked over and asked me questions about my USA patriotic attire. To be "walked out" of The Rustic Dallas by a short brunette who I would estimate was about 22-years old was extremely embarrassing. Other Rustic Dallas customers who I had been talking with looked at me as if they were "quite perplexed" by why I was being forced to leave The Rustic Dallas that Sunday afternoon. I posted a 1-star review on Yelp after this experience and the next day I was contacted by a customer service rep representing The Rustic Dallas. NOTE: "Free Range Concepts", owned by Kyle Noonan and Josh Sepkowitz of Fort Worth, Texas, is the name of the company that owns the The Rustic Dallas and The Rustic Fort Worth franchises. I first wrote the review on 4/25/14 Yelp removed it for naming names I di not know that you could not. I reposted it with no names. and come to find out Yelp has removed it again. So I will post one more time. 2nd posting name deleted. I was in Dallas a few weeks ago and my hotel suggested I try The Rustic. I went and found the bar busy and fun. My bartenders were quick efficient and knowledgeable about the beers I wanted to try. After an hour or so, I decided to get some food at a table. Big Mistake It took over twenty minutes to be greeted, the waiter didn't want to answer my questions or did not know the answers about what I wanted, so I ordered the Pork chops. 45 minutes later it arrived, cold and not appetizing. I told the waiter and 20 minutes later he returned same plate and said the were out of pork. I asked for a manager and waited 20 minutes no one ever came so I paid my table and walked around. That's when I saw a lady chastising and scolded an employee in front of me and several other guests. I asked a waiter who she was and he told me the GM of The Rustic While I stood there I became completely bewildered as I could not believe the way this woman was talking to her employee. Had it been me ( but then again I am 42) I would have taken off my apron and quit. There is no excuse for a manager to ever talk to an employee like that especially in front of guests!! I went back to the bar and ordered a coke, I wanted to sift through my thoughts on this situation I found my self in. Then I saw the GM again berating a bar tender for not pulling beers fast enough ( this place was crazy busy by then and the machine just kept spitting out tickets) and the GM kept this bartender in a conversation berating him and belittling him for a 5 minutes. Once again I have never seen such unprofessional behavior in front of guests. I waited about 15 to 20 minutes and asked for the GM It took her about 20 minutes to get back to me and I started to tell her about the service and food I got and she was so distracted she could not pay attention to me. That's when I told her I would not ever come back and that the attitude she displayed with her employees and lack of focus on my situation was reason enough for me to never return. I informed her " she should try and not scold her employees in front of guests" She then informed me it was not my concern, she would deal with her employees the way she saw fit Good luck Rustic your GM is going to sink you with her behavior. I have many friends in Dallas and lots and lots more that travel there for conventions and trade shows. The Rutsic is one place I will tell them all to avoid. Congratulations MS. I truly want to like this place but they have got to get their act together. The service is ATROCIOUS! I went for brunch with a fairly large group but the waiter did not write a single thing down which resulted in wrong drink orders and one member of our party not getting her carafe for almost an hour. It also took 45 minutes for anyone to get a water, which we asked for as soon as we sat down. We asked for our checks to be separated when we first sat down and were assured this would be no problem. Of course it came out as one which resulted in a massive headache and time trying to figure it all out, wrong orders and all. I decided to give it another shot which was a terrible decision. I went with 2 friends and we had a few drinks then decided to order food and another round of beers. They received their food and beers yet 35 minutes later, and despite ordering the same thing as one of them(!), I had received nothing.. I flagged down the waitress to cancel my food order as they were done eating and it was no longer worth it. It took an additional 10-15 minutes for my draft beer to finally arrive. The waitress assured me that the manager was coming by to speak with us so we ordered our checks and waited another 20 minutes but no sign of any manager. Both times we dropped quite a bit of cash to wait 45 minutes to an hour for simple drink orders which is completely unacceptable. Had the manager come by to at least apologize, I might not be as upset but apparently they couldn't be bothered. The Rustic has so much potential with a great location and atmosphere plus pretty good food but until there is a drastic change to the service, I will not be frequenting this establishment and will be warning anyone and everyone to avoid it like the plague. read more

Our experience at The Rustic on Wednesday evening was nothing short of a disaster. Despite having a 7:30 reservation and specifically requesting outdoor seating, we were completely neglected. From the moment we arrived until our departure at 7:55 PM, we were ignored and left to fend for ourselves. It took a staggering 13 minutes just to get someone's attention after multiple attempts to flag down a server and speak to the host stand. When we finally managed to get their attention, the excuse given was that they were "busy." Well, being busy is no excuse for outright ignoring guests who have made a reservation and are ready to spend money on food and drinks. It was abundantly clear that our presence and our business were of little importance to the staff. What truly astonished us was the lack of remorse or concern shown by anyone on the staff when we decided to leave. No one seemed bothered that a table walked out due to their incompetence. This speaks volumes about the lack of attention from the host staff to the waitstaff and the overall management's attitude toward customer service. Finding a restaurant open after 8 PM on a Wednesday is already a challenge, and to be treated in such a dismissive manner is completely unacceptable. The Rustic clearly believes they have enough customers to disregard basic courtesy and service standards. However, relying solely on your current clientele without striving to retain new customers will only lead to eventual decline. In conclusion, our evening at The Rustic was a disappointing and frustrating experience. We will certainly not be returning, and we will be sharing our experience widely to warn others about the poor service and lack of professionalism at this establishment. read more

Was excited to bring my hubby to this restaurant. I wish we had gone somewhere else. Our waitress, Savanna, acted as though we were bothering her when asking questions about the menu and ordering food. It started off wrong when I asked her the size of the onion rings - she implied they were about .25 to .5 inches in size - I told her I liked my rings thin. I trusted her and ordered them and they were the size of my head--not really but at least 2 inches thick. She asked me if I liked them and I told her no, reminding her that was not what was described. We kept them because I ordered them. BTW, she never apologized or offered to take them back. My quesadillas were laying in a plate of grease. I literally used the cloth napkin to wipe away the grease. Anytime we asked Savanna for something it felt like we were an imposition. It was so bad I would have my husband ask her for what we needed. She didn't perk up until she brought the ticket. First time in forever that I did not leave a tip, but instead wrote her a note to how she impacted our dining experience. I like to be totally forthright, the Peach Tea (Bourbon) was great. My husband liked his salmon burger. The atmosphere is okay and the greeter was friendly. That being said, I don't pay to feel mistreated and we will not return. Nor will I recommend this restaurant. I am very forgiving of someone having a bad day, but bad service and attitude are unacceptable for me to pay for. We were at the Rustic for 2 hours. It was busy but not as busy as I have seen in weeks prior. We were greeted and seated quite fast. The drinks and appetizers orders were taken and received quite fast . The server informed us that she was leaving and another server would be taking care of us. I completely understood. Her shift was ending. The second server did not come for another 37 minutes. I should have left then. She took our order and we didn't see her again for another 45 minutes. Our food was wrong and cold. The soup was flavorful and cold. The hot Cheetos fries were cold and not worth the money. The burger was ok. The server never stopped by to check on us. The manager did twice. Our drinks were watered down and empty. The server never refreshed our drinks or asked if we needed anything. The 3 stars are for the atmosphere and greeting. However, service and quality needs work. I understand that many businesses are rebounding from the pandemic. There were plenty of servers standing around laughing and chatting with one another. My experience may have been different if I had ordered alcoholic drinks. But I don't drink alcohol. I just wanted to show my niece a good time. I support local business at least twice a day. It's a personal goal. Unfortunately, I do not recommend The Rustic and will not go back. read more

Very nice place that is decorated with a minimalistic vibe. Hence the name the rustic. Few things right off the bat. The music was just a little too loud. You were unable to speak in a normal tone and here the people across from you. You had to half shout to have a conversation. Later in the evening they did turn it down when the live music started. Now on to the food. We did the Sunday night family dinner. Their sides are great. The jalapeño spoon bread and cheesy hominy were my favorite. Their potato salad is like your grandmas. The green beans were flavorful and crisp since they were only blanched. I like them more than I thought they would. And the kale salad is great. The appetizers we got were the double queso. It had a little crab mixed into both. The fried and grilled chicken were ok. Both were cooked but had a little more pink in them then I would have liked to see. Their fried chicken had so much breading in them that it is almost inedible unless you pick some off. The pork chop was good though. The service was also lack luster. We'd have 2-3 severs ask if we needed any help. Unfortunately I had to ask all three for hot sauce and wait nearly 10 minutes before one of those waiter brought any back. read more

Very poor treatment. My sister and I asked the hostess if there was outdoor seating and she told us it was open seating. We found a table outside and was ignored by the waitress. We thought maybe she was just busy and didn't see us so we waited for another table to leave and went to sit at that table. The waitress then approached us and told us that we needed to vacate the table and that a hostess has to seat us. We told her the hostess told us it was open seating. She walked off with no response. A manager then came to the table and said she was sorry for the confusion but we needed to leave the table and return to the hostess to be put at the bottom of the wait list. I told her we had been misinformed and had been waiting to be served for 15 minutes at two different tables and didn't think it seemed reasonable to have to wait even longer with our names now at the bottom of the list considering it was an error on the part of her team. She said sorry but that's what you will need to do. No offer of any other options just too bad. After years of working in the restaurant industry myself I couldn't believe how unprofessionally and quite frankly rude the behavior was by both the waitress and manager. read more

The Rustic isn't exactly in my neighborhood, but it is definitely a place I love to go. There always seems to be something going on there. Never a dull moment! For me the decor of the restaurant is inviting. I like being able to see into the kitchen and watch the "goings on" behind the scenes. Perhaps seeing my own food being prepared! I find the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. No matter when I have gone, I have never had bad experience. The staff has always been accommodating, professional and friendly. At first when you sit down and check out the menu, it can be a bit overwhelming because you just don't know what to choose. Yet it seems like no matter what I have eaten there, I have always walked away satisfied and excited to come back and try something else. And if you are looking for a sweet treat their peanut butter pie or key lime pie are AMAZING!! I have been to The Rustic many times and have to say that I absolutely love the new weekend Brunch! I really can't decide what was my favorite part, but it was nice to be able to sample everything and not have to decide on just one item from the menu. Very innovative approach!! read more

Had a pretty good experience over at the Rustic. First time I've seen an early musician on a Wednesday. I like it! I heard their late night band Buffalo Ruckus? Get them back, those guys were awesome. Service... Surprising was pretty good. Outside was packed luckily the bar wasn't. Was met by Steve, and he immediately introduced me to Joe. They both joked with my friend and I and made it a great experience. They suggested a drink called the Bobby Ray, was pretty damn good. My buddy got the Lonestar sour, it was a jalapeño drink. Was right amount of spice and sour. I was impressed. Had their fish tacos. Were good but wish there was 3 tacos, for 18$ wish there was 3. Meatballs were good but over priced. Place is beautifully decorated. Love the 'Welcome Home' embedded on their wall. Awesome atmosphere. Great drinks. Food overpriced for portions. Why is there not a happy hour special?! 4 stars you get. But definitely check it out. read more

I have been to the Rustic twice and both times have been great experiences. Great atmosphere, crowd, food, music and service!! I was amazed at how great the service was especially with all the out door space and the number of people. Not only was our waiter and waitress very on top of things but others pitched in to bring out drinks, clean up the table, etc.. when or waiter/ress I could see is taking another tables order. Okay maybe I am a little old too, but loved the fact that you can hear the great music without having to yell to have conversations. Oh yes, loved the crowd too, all different ages and dress codes. Big shout out to Taylor our waiter last night for his birthday tomorrow! Great job Taylor and I wish I could remember the name of our waitress we had the last time she was wonderful too!! read more

Came in today this Sunday, was surprisingly very chill day for the rustic. Got prime seating at the bar. The women here were gorgeous. Only problem, lack of girl bartenders. Problem solved by really cool guys behind the bar. Entertaining group of guys though. I think I personally met Jeff, Joe and a guy who enjoyed singing named Chris. Place was decorated nicely to a place named Rustic. Stage had a real cool set up, band was viewable inside and outside. Real cool. Other than that, music was solid. Chill crowd, good vibes. Ran out of Revolver Blood Honey but had to adventure out and try something new. Day Break was delicious. Total Dallas Uptown scene but not as overwhelming as some places today. Definitely will be back on Sundays more than Saturdays though due to overwhelming crowds on Saturday. read more

Unbelievable- I'm writing as I walk out of this place with my partner and best friends. What a terrible first impression. We have lived in dallas for over a year and never had the opportunity to come but it looks like we chose the wrong day. We were seated outside and ignored by multiple servers for over 15 minutes. They can't say they didn't see us because one server and another bus boy talked to the host about getting us a server- how disrespectful. I can understand why you chose this name. What a Rustic way to treat your customers. Totally lacking the sophistication of the city, backward and provincial. Lacking EVERYTHING you can expect from a restaurant/bar. I just love the Rustic! You can always count on friendly staff and delicious food. Today's pick was the center cut ribeye and an old fashion. No pictures of the meal because I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into that beautifully cooked steak. It was exactly what I asked for such an amazing cut prepared to perfection. Well balanced meat to fat ratio and the ancho butter smothered on top really brought it together without over powering the natural flavors from the steak. The bourbon selection is top notch and the bartender executed a perfect old fashion. But the real gem of the Rustic is the incredible staff that they have. Such a phenomenal energy at this place. This place is hands down is one of the best places to eat and drink in dallas. I came in as a first time guest with my family and we've never felt more welcomed by a server than we were with Matthew. He was so happy and has one of the best personalities you can find. I love dining at places where you can tell the server cares about you and your experience while waiting on you and Matthew showed us all of that and then some. Never waiting too long for anything and I never had to flag him down for anything. He was always there when I turned my back and he created an experience where none of us asked for a thing. I like Pat Green and support his music so i decided to try his restaurant and honestly I didn't expect much (i mean, what does a country music star know about food).... i am here to admit I WAS WRONG. The whole look and feel was awesome. not to mention: Food: PHENOMENAL. oh my goodness my hubby is gunna have to take me here more often Drinks: I tried two light beers from their HUGE selection of draft beers (lots of texas stuff!!!) I have, along with my family and friends have visited The Rustic many times throughout the years and have always enjoyed ourselves. A few of us went in today and the visit wasn't as pleasant. Yes the food, drinks and music were all great! However, our waitress Jasmine wasn't pleasant at all. Her demeanor was disinterested. She did serve the items we asked for but she never smiled, she doesn't have an upbeat type of personality. It almost seemed as if she didn't want to be there. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or if this is her personality. Either way, it's a shame because she is a beautiful girl. We will continue to visit The Rustic but unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'd want Jasmine as our waitress again. read more

Took my mama, and my best friend there when my mama was visiting from out of town. Our server Karyssa was a delight. She made a few good jokes that made the lunch memorable. The atmosphere was pretty neat, including the viewing window into the kitchen. The food was wonderful! I only ordered a quesadilla for myself, knowing my mama would not eat her sandwich. My mama ordered the soup and half sandwich, which she said was really good. I ate her sandwich, and my quesadilla, which was a bit more food than I needed, but couldn't resist because it was that good. I recommend this restaurant quite highly, but since it is in uptown, be prepared for slightly higher prices than other barbecue places. read more
