Diamond in the rough!!! What a find in this tiny little town!!! Walking in, I had no idea what to expect. The dimly lit bar had hints of grandma's basement. I was warmly greeted and ushered into the main dining room by Semmes, a sweet Southern belle who is the owner's daughter. I started with the sautéed crab claws, which were delicate and buttery, and a tasty intro to the meal. For the main, I feasted on the surf and turf, sweet sea scallops and a filet that just melted in my mouth. It was a perfectly cooked medium, warm pink throughout the center with a crisp outer sear. Accompanied by al dente Brussels sprouts and a baked sweet potato, it was like thanksgiving in July. Even though I was stuffed, I kept eating since it was that good. I couldn't pass up the dessert menu and dove into a warm, strawberry pound cake with white chocolate sauce. A sweet treat to end...for now. I will definitely be back and getting the surf and turf on my next visit. read more

This is the best steak in Meridian. The crab claws are amazing. The atmosphere and service is impeccable. We arrived at 7pm on a Sat night and there was no wait time. All of the staff was so nice and the food was amazing. The salad was so fresh and the ranch dressing tasted home made. The steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had the filet Hailey and I would highly recommend it. 8oz filet topped with crab and shrimp sauce. One person in our party got a caramel cheesecake and it looked amazing. I am very late posting this review. This is from December 7, 2018. We always go to The Rustler for our anniversary, and several other times throughout the year. If you want the BEST steak come to The Rustler!!! For appetizers we always get the crab claws (half fried and half sautéed) OMG! The BEST!!! And their ball of sour dough bread always comes out piping hot! So be careful cutting it! Then the salad, wow, delicious!! I always get warm bacon dressing. It is my FAVORITE!!! My husband loves the cracked peppercorn ranch! And then that BIG ole steak!!! Cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth! With several sides to chose from! Many desserts to choose from also! Bread pudding, cheesecake!! Ummmm!!! Reservations are not required but I would definitely suggest it for Christmas season and any major holiday! Please go check them out! Holy cow! They know steak. My husband is from Nebraska and is impossible to please when it comes to beef. He proclaimed his filet to be one of the best cuts he had ever eaten. It was also cooked to perfection. I had the New York strip and agree. The bread was fresh and irresistible. Salads dressed with house made dressings. We ended our evening with the best cheesecake I have ever had. Staff was attentive and it was a pleasure to meet the owners daughter, Semme, who runs the front of the house. She was as charming as the restaurant itself! What was surprising to us, was the value for this level of quality. The sides were included with these incredible cuts making our final bill very reasonable. I understand why they been in business for over 20 years. Definitely a hidden gem and worth the drive if you are on the road. On a personal note - Would love to see what you guys would do with creamed spinach and mac and cheese! Really nice place to go for a date or celebration! Was wowed by the interior as soon as we stepped inside. Water was always kept full and a fresh loaf of bread was at the table soon after sitting down. Not a long wait time for food at all. Onion rings were delicious, as was the salad. Our waiter checked up on us the perfect amount of times, not too many, but we were never sitting there looking for him. Absolutely delicious steak, cooked perfectly medium rare. Funky building, funky location, great experience. We try to avoid chains when we drive cross country, and this is why. My wife and I found The Rustler by it being recommended by our hotel. We took a chance and drone a few miles to get there. On the outside, it was fine. Looked well kept. The inside was wonderful and warm. Not too many tables. Just right. The food was outstanding. I had a ribeye with all the fixings and my wife had the shrimp. Crab cakes before. Wonderful warm fresh bread was included. The steak was on par with any of the super high price steak houses in San Diego, where we live. My wife loved her dinner as I did mine. My steak was perfect. We couldn't finish due to the large portions. Service was excellent. Plenty of parking. I highly recommend this outstanding, very reasonably priced steak and fish house. At first glance, this looks like some sort of road house or small pub. It's tucked away in an area where you would NEVER think that there would be food more than pub snacks. Boy are looks deceiving! This was one of THE MOST amazing steak houses I've ever visited. (And considering that my husband is a meat and potatoes kinda guy, I've been to a lot!) First off, the ambiance is lovely. The low lighting, the linen tablecloths, the seating - everything was lovely without being over the top and uncomfortable. We were a party of four. My husband ordered the 28 ounce steak which looked like half a cow but was as tender and juicy as you could possibly desire. The others in our party also ordered various cuts of steak that were phenomenal and I ordered the blackened grouper that was probably the best fish I've ever had. The service was beyond outstanding. Dinner was started with salad. This was not your typical bagged and thrown in a bowl salad. It was cool, crisp and the dressing tastes homemade. It was nothing less than amazing. The wait staff was attentive without being in your face constantly. Dessert would have been nice but we were stuffed and couldn't possibly do it. This is absolutely Meridians well hidden gem. Driving up to The Rustler was off-putting for me considering it looked like a trailer and the location seemed unusual, but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. Upon walking in (on the bar side) I was greeted with a smile by the bartender. He kindly directed my friends and me​ towards the main dining room. The elegant dining room was dim-lighted and beautifully decorated. Bradley was our server and he definitely deserves a five-star rating. He was so attentive, kind, and knowledgeable! The food was superb. You must try the following appetizers: Crab Dip (best seller), Crab Claws, and the Stuffed Mushrooms. You will do yourself a disservice if you neglect ANY steak option. My entree recommendations: Petit Filet Hailey (shrimp and crabmeat included), Petite Filet, and the Filet. Any stuffed potato for your sides (thank me later). If you want a PERFECT steak, this is your place to go! We had a fantastic meal! We were a party of 8, celebrating 3 birthdays. One of which was my father in laws 80th birthday. Everyone enjoyed everything. My father in law is extremely picky, had to tell the wait staff that it was THE best steak he's ever had!! One of my son's ordered his steak blue rare, most place do not know how to prepare that. The Rustler on the other hand, prepared it perfectly.
