Our group's experience at this restaurant was an absolute disappointment. We specifically chose this place for our last vacation meal and made a reservation by calling since we had a large party. According to the Google reservation website, reservations for groups larger than 12 require a phone call, which we did. We were assured our reservation was accepted over the phone, and they mentioned a short wait upon arrival. However, when we got there, they shockingly informed us that our reservation wasn't accepted. I spoke with the hostess, and her response was shockingly callous, insisting we should have booked online. I pointed out their own website's instructions, but she simply brushed it off, blaming the person who took the reservation. It's infuriating how this mistake was handled. We had four small children eagerly waiting for a meal, hungry in anticipation, and the restaurant showed no effort to accommodate or rectify the situation. They had the audacity to suggest splitting our party and starting the wait all over again. This completely defeated the purpose of making a reservation in the first place. Again, the four small children are hungry. What's even more disappointing is that no one from the restaurant bothered to call us to inform us of the error. In short, the restaurant's rude and cold response to their own mistake left our family deeply dissatisfied. They not only failed to take responsibility but also made no effort to make things right. It's truly disheartening to witness such a lack of professionalism and care towards customers, especially when four hungry children were involved. We certainly won't be returning, and I strongly advise others to think twice before choosing this restaurant. read more

This is my third time to visit the Rusty Rooster. Tried breakfast twice before and it was excellent. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the booths are roomy. Nothing worse than a tiny booth with no room for the girls to breathe. A friend mentioned the burger there was great so tried it out today. The burger was fabulous. I mean a burger done right. I like medium rare and it was perfect. Veggies were fresh, cold and crisp. I ordered the cheese wrapped burger, but it was lost on me. Fried cheese on top of a burger might be the new thing but I prefer a regular piece of melted American cheese personally. Why mess with perfection??? Anyhow, steak fries were great and very hot and salted perfectly. Will definitely be back since I'm kinda obsessed with the grilled burger now. Happy eating. You will not be disappointed. read more

We had such a great experience at The Rusty Rooster at the Lake of the Ozarks! My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and absolutely loved it. I had the Eggs Benedict Florentine, and it was excellent. The hashbrowns were honestly the best I have ever had -- perfectly crispy and cooked just right. Our waitress, Hope, made the visit even better. She was the sweetest, kindest, funniest server and provided excellent service from start to finish. Great food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service. We will definitely be back! read more

My husband and I went here for a brunch. This is our first time, so we first read the reviews before coming in and the reviews were inviting and glad that we had an excellent experience. We loved their food, service, and the simple atmosphere. I had the chicken salad sandwich while my husband had the eggs benedict and steak salad. We also shared some quesadillas, tots, and banana split- THAT'S A LOT!!! and everything we had was worth every penny. Would love to go back here! read more

A nice family restaurant/bakery/gift shop on the other side of the lake. We were greeted by a lovely lady and immediately shown to a table. We were there for breakfast and had my hubby's usual ham and cheese omelet and I tried the Monte Cristo sandwich. Both were excellent and my sandwich actually had hand carved ham inside. Love Rusty Rooster! We meet my Military brother and his wife there sometimes. And take my granddaughter and her boyfriend there sometimes and then when my daughter comes in town we take her and my grandkids there. And you never know if my girlfriend will call to meet me there!
