I posted my RV need this morning at 7AM. At 7:20 i received a reply from Ming at Mings RV repair. He had the quote ready and I called him back to ask some questions. He was spot on with the answers and offererd to come fro Chino to Newport Beach to do the upgrade. Said he had the stock on hand and couls do it today after 1 PM. I took the Chinook to his shop, he was ready to go and finished a new solar panel and lithium battery in two hours. I bought a converted camper van back in the in fall, and after a few weeks, everything stopped working: the electrical unit, the water in the sink, something was leaking, etc. I didn't know where to turn. All the camper conversion companies I called were booked out months, if not years, because of the pandemic (everyone wants a camper these days!). Martin was able to fit me in and WOW - I really hit the jackpot with him. Turns out, whoever had built my van had no electrical training and likely just learned about electricity in a few youtube videos. It was a huge fire hazard and pretty dangerous. And on top of it, it didn't work. Martin was able to rewire everything and ground the electricity. This guy knows what he's talking about and knows what he's doing. It's been almost 8 months now, and I have had no trouble at all with the electricity. I use my camper van for my business and I needed a way to stay cool inside of it during the hot summer. Once again, Martin went above and beyond - researching all the various ways I could get AC into the camper. In the end, the solution was brilliant. He was able to install an AC in such a way that it barely takes up any space, looks clean, and works great. AND - on top of it all - it works on solar! So it's eco-friendly. Long and short of it: If you need something for your camper or RV and are willing to be a little patient (remember that because of the pandemic, all the RV places are slammed!), Martin and his team are phenomenal. Thank goodness for Martin the RV Repair Guy! We were plannning an extended RV trip and needed to find out why our Solar / Lithium Battery install was shutting down at 65% of charge. Martin spent 4 days rewiring, securing, sealing, the entire system, installing safety breakers, fuses, junction boxes and a leaking roof where the solar wiring went inside the coach (no sealed box initially). Even the battery cables were cut in half to use smaller cable ends (lugs). PIctures will follow. Martin is very knowledgeable, honest and actually was recomended by BattleBorn Battery, the manufacturer of our batteries. He also reached out to other manufacturers to assure all ofhis work was done correctly and safely. I will update this posting once I get resolution on the initial install. I highly recommend Martin! I have an old coach, a 74 Revcon, and it isn't easy to find people willing to work on it. Their crew seemed eager to get into it, so I described the work and was quoted $6K and an 6-8 weeks. They had a project manager keep in touch with me, which seemed professional. His job was to keep me apprised of the effort and budget status. Bottom line, Martin took 2-3 times that much time and charged double his budget and didn't complete the work. The PM commented that they knew I was "good for it". Well I am not, they have failed to answer my follow up inquiries. I will return to this post in a week or so to deliver feed back on Martin's customer service. read more

You may have to wait to get help from him, but Martin is worth the wait. We have a super rare, high end, 2016 Bowlus Road Chief. You would think paying $$$ and there being a super limited number of these trailers on the road that the customer service would be exceptional right? Not the case sadly. So after an email where I tried to gently point out to the owners of the family-run biz how I felt about their customer service (having been on the receiving end many times) went sideways - well I was looking for a new place to repair my rig. Enter Martin. He took on our Bowlus and did the repairs on something he had never worked on before like it was the easiest thing imaginable. He texted constantly to let us know he was running late due to a job taking longer than expected before us. HIGH prices. He texted me a very vague $400-$600 (plus an additional $75 service fee) quote for a 4 wheel bearing service / repack. No details about his service though. Others were charging $200-$375 INCLUDING their mobile service call!! Even if no other parts were needed, his low-end is very high for just grease and labor. At his later convenience, he could have called or emailed me a more detailed quote. But he seemed like he didn't appreciate my asking him to detail out his large quote range. I'm a mechanic. I build things for a living, I weld machine, plumb and do wiring. I know when I have a fellow pro on my hands and when I'm in the presence if a goofball. Martin is a pro. Worth every penny. He is extremely meticulous, he inspects every part and NEVER cuts corners. After working all day on a Sunday, then working with me until 3 AM Sunday night/Monday morning... Most people would be willing to wrap it up and call it a night. MOST PEOPLE wouldn't do a full and complete inspection of all functions, welds and wiring at 3 am on a Sunday. Martin isn't most people. If towards the end of the job that you hired him to do he is doing an inspection or studying a component of the vehicle carefully, this is for your and the other people on the road's safety. Trailers can be dangerous, Martin makes sure there will not be a problem. Let him do his work and you will have safe travels. I tipped him well over 100$ because he made me feel safe. Martin just repacked the bearings on my cargo trailer I've used for 10 years without doing proper maintenance. I watched as he did the whole job and man am I glad he did! He showed me what a bad state the bearings were in. I was driving my trailer around oblivious to the risk was in of catastrophe going down the highway at 60 mph! A reminder to all you trailer owners, do yourself a favor, have Martin re-pack your bearings. Save yourself a major headache. Martin is a real pro. I have a 30 year old RV that was incredibly out of shape when I got it. Ongoing has been 2 unrelated problems in the 2.5 years I owned it - batteries (all 3 of them, all new) would discharge overnight, even with nothing on at all; and when filling the fresh water, the carpet in the back would somehow get soaked. Martin very rapidly identified both problems (I think the electrical within minutes). He worked with me to get the right parts (which I bought on Amazon), and he cleaned the water tank, and took it out for repair. When the part came in, Martin came back (did I mention he comes to you?), and quickly installed both the tank and the electrical part. The whole job was quick, fairly priced, and well done. Martin is a very skilled craftsman. He knows pretty much everything about RVs inside out. He is also very reliable and trustworthy, you can always count on him to diagnose the issues correctly and get the job done on time. His prices are pretty reasonable and way less than other mechanic shops. We took an RV to a music festival in SoCal last year and when we left, the RV broke down after a couple of miles and wouldn't start. This was literally in the middle of nowhere and very early in the morning (~7 am). When we contacted him, we were surprised that he was willing to drive out to us right away and take a look at it. He arrived within an hour or so, worked on it for a couple of hours and fixed it and sent us on our way. And he didn't charge us an arm and a leg as we were expecting. When I realized my mistake I called and talked to Leo who seems like a really nice guy and was very helpful on how I should proceed to make an appointment and get on a waiting list to have work done. I decided to upgrade my motorhome with Battle Born Batteries and asked them to recommend someone local who could install the system. They gave me 3 names and I chose Martin, since he was the nearest and had the soonest availabliity. From beginning to the end of the project I was impressed. He would keep me informed every step of the way on the progress. After the project was completed, he tested the system and one leg of the 50 amp would trip a circuit breaker. After back and forth with the service department of one of the components, he narrowed it down to a bad cable, which was brand new. He replaced it and everything is working. Have you ever heard a diesel engine hum? Well mine does after letting Martin tend to it. I've always had my '03 Sprinter engine maintained by Freightliner or MB dealerships but I don't think it has ever sounded as good as it does now. Martin & his partner had ordered all the filters (some are hard to come by) & even special oil needed to do the annual maintenance on it before our appointment. They inspected everything & even told me which items didn't need to be replaced at this time. It was a dream to drive after they serviced it. And that's just the start... My propane generator hadn't run in a couple of years. I was afraid it was a goner & had asked Martin to look it over & see what he thought. First of all, it is a terrible location - up under the rear of the chassis extremely hard to get to much less work on, but Martin got under there & proceeded to see what he could do. Long story short, he got it running. He cleaned it up, changed the oil & made sure it would start up & run cleanly from now on (as long as I do my part of running it monthly). He's also offered to review any batteries that I consider as replacements for my current dead ones. I couldn't be more pleased to have found 'the RV Repair guy' - he's the real deal, a professional in every sense of the word, talented, extremely knowledgeable & fairly priced.
