Service was super attentive but not pushy. The restaurant closed and they didn't pressure us to rush as we finished another bottle of wine with some dessert. It was my first time here. Cocktails were fabulous! It's a very small and charming atmosphere. I loved it. We decided to do the three course meal. I started off with the pate, which is absolutely delicious with the tangy mustard and Cornishon's. Yum! My friend got the apple Andy salad, which is quite generous and delicious. For entrées, we got the beef Bouruignon and the Coq au Vin. Both entrées were outstanding and the sauces were memorable. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and. The chocolate mousse. Dinner for the four of us. Spoiler alert - we loved it and are already planning to return! The "no corkage charge on Thursday " drew us in. The friendly, capable and accommodating service made the experience outstanding and the food itself is what clenched the 5 star rating! There's a full service bar equipped with the Absinthe drip. Of course we had a taste of that as an "after dinner treat". We opted for the prix fixe menu this evening and were each satisfied with the options offered. The mussels with fries were perfectly cooked although the broth was a little too spicy for us, the delicious French fries softened the blow. The grilled salmon was well prepared and flavorful, and the home made sausage was delicious. The portions were generously plated and we were able to share tastes all around. Found this gem in our area and overall enjoyed it. We made a reservation for day before mother's day at dinnertime and it was fairly crowded before the holiday. There were plenty of street parking outside. The place is on the smaller side and can get pretty loud when there's a lot of people, but overall nice environment. The service I would say is on the slower side, but seems like there is only one waitress to serve the entire place. She moved fast from table to table and we had to make several attempts before we were able to get her attention in a relatively noisy setting. The food was great! Definitely comparable to some other expensive French places in the city and you are getting more for the price you are paying. We love the cozy and solid cooking style. The chicken liver and beef tartare were delicious, so were the endives. For the entrees, we liked them but the sauce in the steak wasn't really my style, that being said the steak was cooked very well so if you liked the flavor of the sauce, this would be the perfect dish for you. I came here with some coworkers for a holiday dinner. I made the resy for 8P, and we were seated upstairs. It felt like we reserved the entire upstairs because it was completely empty, except for us. I loved that. The entire upstairs is adorned with wine bottles in the walls. It looks very chic. We started with drinks, oysters, warm bread, butter and cornichons. They have a three-course, pre-fixe, menu of the day, from which most of us ordered. I loved the mushroom bisque. They were unfortunately out of the fish of the day, cod, but we were able to order their trout from the regular menu. It was very good. We ended the night with profiteroles, crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, and espresso martinis. The staff was very accommodating. We literally closed the place down. It was hard to guess being, upstairs and away from everyone. When we first arrived, the place was packed. When we left, it was completely empty. The guys were very understanding, although, I'm sure they were waiting for us to skidaddle so that they could get home. They never made us feel as though we were a bother. It was a first for my office, to have this kind of outing, and I enjoyed myself, immensely. I will definitely be back here for a date night with hubby, or a girls' night with some friends. I'm not sure why this restaurant only has 3.5 stars. The food was phenomenal. The service was also top notch. We came for restaurant week. Thursdays they allow no corkage fees which is INCREDIBLE. They even allowed it if you were participating in restaurant week. The escargots were delicious. The oysters were top notch and came with freshly ground horseradish. WHAT?! I've had an uncountable amount of oysters in my life and never had freshly ground horseradish. The gnocchi Parisienne and the sauciesse were phenomenal . I'm so glad my husband and I split them because there's no way I could decide between the two. If you're getting dessert get the mousse! Absolutely fantastic Sunday brunch. Prix fixe menu. Attentive service from a lovely staff. The downstairs dining room looks like something out of a history book. Entirely tin walls and ceiling. Beautiful wood bar. This is the best pate I have had in the states. This may be the best burger in the region. Makes Minetta taste like McDonald's. The steak frites is perfect. We met my brother and sister in law here for the last day of HV restaurant week. I brought two bottles of Burgundy to pair with dinner ($25 corkage each). It's a cozy place, we were seated upstairs on the wine room which has a lovely atmosphere of a classical French Bistro. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. My wife started with a fresh Apple & Endive salad with walnuts, Roquefort cheese and crème fraiche. Delicious. I went for the Mousse de Foie Volaille with toasted sourdough points. This was so rich and decadent. For dinner she got the Flat Iron steak Au Poirve that was cooked to perfection and just flat out delicious. I opted for the Beef Bourguignon. This just melted in your mouth. Sooo good. For dessert she got the Crème Brûlée which was fantastic and I got the chocolate Mousse which was probably the best one I've had outside of France. Delicious French favorites in a historic building what's better than this!? My oysters were briny and perfectly shucked, the filet mignon in béarnaise sauce cooked to perfection with thick, crispy frite. So yummy! and the chocolate mousse was rich and light and just the right amount. I had a glass of bubbly with the oysters - perfect. Tomato Corn soup Pate Moules frites Lamb shank Profiteroles Creme brule Cocktails, wine, and coffee I could criticize each in turn except for: Moules frites - big, crisp, generous fries. Well cooked mussels. Caveat, is this came out extra fresh because of a miscommunication with our order. Tomato - luxuriously huge slice of heirloom, well dressed with balance of acid and salt. The rest, sure I've had better but nothing was unpleasant. My preference for more fat and a softer texture to the country pate? Meh, flavor was still good. Ice cream hid my ability to assess flavor and texture of profiterole pastry, fine, just eat it your sundae. They're cooking reasonably well, but not sure what it's like when they're in the weeds. This is a restaurant that should have closed its doors long ago. Against my better judgment, I decided to give it a second chance after a truly abysmal dinner months ago--mussels so overcooked they were practically the size of ants. Today's brunch was no better. My partner ordered the "French toast," which turned out to be exactly one--yes, one--lonely slice of brioche. No sides, no garnish, nothing. He did ask for bacon, still waiting for that...Sixteen dollars for that insult. I ordered an omelette, which came with a sad little handful of greens. When I asked if there was any bread--toast, brioche, anything--to accompany the eggs, the waiter flatly said they didn't have any. Twenty-five dollars for what felt like 2 scrambled eggs dumped on a plate with some tinned mushrooms and maybe a minuscule piece of cheese. And the coffee, brown hot water, or instant. I understand food prices are high, but this place is ridiculous. The near-empty dining room says it all--people have clearly caught on. This was once a respectable place, with attentive servers and quality food. Now it has the aura of a business on life support, one that probably won't survive the year. They should spare customers a prolonged death and just close up. It even has the unsettling vibe of a bar that refills "top-shelf" liquor bottles with whatever cheap generic is lying around. And to top it off? Fruit flies everywhere in the dining room--clear evidence that the place can't even be bothered with basic cleanliness. read more

Prior to my most recent visit, I had only visited Saint George once for happy hour, so I had only tried their drinks. After that point, I pretty much forgot about the spot until Westchester Magazine recently published their Top 36 county restaurants and listed Saint George as one of the top spots. This article motivated me to make a reservation and give their dinner menu a try. And, as you can likely deduce from my 5-star rating, I was more than impressed by Saint George, and I highly recommend it. Below is a short summary of some of the standouts for this visit. Appetizers: We tried two appetizers on this visit--the escargot and pâté. Both were super flavorful, and I would order either of these again. Mains: First, I'll start with the Chicken Coq au Vin--the classic French stew with chicken braised slowly in a red wine sauce. Saint George's version was stellar. The chicken (which is dark meat and on the bone) melted in my mouth, and the sauce was rich and satisfying. Next up was the restaurant's other chicken dish--Poulet Frites, which included a pressed Statler chicken breast (a.k.a. chicken suprême) served with a Béarnaise sauce. [You're likely familiar with this cut, which is a chicken breast with the first joint of the wing still attached to the white meat cut.] I have to admit that this second dish was truly out-of-this-world. The chicken itself was tender and succulent, and the sauce was rich, creamy, and complemented the chicken perfect. The fries that were served with this dish were among some of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure how they were cooked, but they were truly magical. Drinks: Saint George features a wide collection of bottled wine as well as wine "by the glass." You're sure to find something to complement your meal. Ask the waitstaff, as they are well versed with the restaurant's wine selections. Final Thoughts: Check out Saint George if you haven't already! Saint George Bistro - Egg Benedict - French Near Me - Hastings on Hudson, New York

This was a transporting experience. The first thing that catches your eye when you're inside is how well thought out their French bistro aesthetic is. No half measures, they went all-in! (I half expected a half-full ashtray on the bar counter but thankfully there was no such thing.) We started with a couple of cocktails, and obviously I needed to try the secretive Anna's Dry Gin Old Fashioned, which went down very easily. The prix fixe dinner was incredibly enticing, even though our server told us about their jumbo prawn special - which looked pretty amazing and pretty jumbo when they were being carried out of the kitchen. The escargot were served sans shell, and carried plenty of garlic. Just superb. The salad maison was fresh and light. We then moved on to the braised chicken leg - it's the whole leg! - and it was braised so perfectly, no knives were necessary. Rich in flavor, and the rice with fried onion topping were perfect with it. We also had a lamb shoulder - thick but incredibly tender chunks of lamb with similarly sized chunks of carrot, turnips, and onions. The sauce was so good I had no choice but to mop it up with bread. Dessert comprised of a very balanced lemon tart as well as a pair of profiteroles stuffed with ice cream. Our wine - a Sancerre and a Cobieres - were excellent also. Being a Monday night, the joint wasn't packed. The lively folks at the bar, the patrons dining outdoors, and the few tables inside were all very well tended by the very capable pair of servers. They really were terrific keeping the place humming. Very happy with our experience. We look forward to another visit. read more

In retrospect I wish we'd chosen someplace else. 1, The food: adequate but underwhelming; it was food, it was fully cooked, but utterly undistinguished, especially considering they prices charged. The service: again, adequate but underwhelming; orders were taken, food was brought and plates removed, but this was done with little attention or apparent concern for the quality of our experience.
