My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant after seeing a Yankees game! The server was very friendly and attentive to everything! The ambience in the dining area is very classy with a beautiful view of the Hudson River. The wine list was reasonably priced and the bread, onion soup, tomato/onion appetizer were spot on! The 10 oz filet was cooked to perfection and was brought out sizzling with a wonderful crust. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be back next time I am in town! We went here for Restaurant Week and we will be back after that's over. That says a lot. This experience was perfect in every way. Impeccable service, delicious food, and a lovely, cozy setting. Many restaurants do not do restaurant week well. They bring out a menu that is not representative of what they serve regularly. Hudson Prime was wonderful. We had a filet, and skirt steak, salad and delicious meatballs for appetizers, and chocolate lava cake and creme brulee for dessert. We ordered an additional appetizer, the crispy Brussels sprouts with bacon and Gorgonzola. These were particularly excellent. Our waiter had them prepared extra crisp, which is great because there is nothing worse than biting into a raw Brussels sprout. The wait was terrible we had 6 pm reservations to be done with dinner way after 9 the lost one of to gos which the mislabeled; the fold my steak temperature was wrong ....and kept us waiting for water and drink refills . This was the first time coming to Hudson Prime steakhouse. We made reservations and were seated quickly at a small table in the corner. The restaurant has a touch of elegance to it. You can have sparkling water or tap water. They do give you a basket of bread with soft butter. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered the thick cut bacon as an appetizer. It had a honey bourbon glaze to it and cut like a steak. I wanted to try the octopus but I couldn't get myself to pay $28 for an appetizer. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay. There bottles of white run from $40-$120. Glasses are $15 The wine list was extensive and well balanced. They do have a full bar of course. For dinner I chose the Duck. I know Duck is more of a harder meat to cook. It was fine but not exceptional. It came with a cement plate of mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus. If I'm in town again I'll choose a different dinner. I did like the feeling of privacy and elegance here. The restaurant didn't peak until 8 pm. So making reservations is highly recommended. If you're looking for a treat with a price, you can expect that here at Hudson Prime Steakhouse. Go and enjoy. read more

First time here and I thought it was terrific. Food was great, delicious. My French martini was on point. Interior was nicely decorated. We sat in the room that has river views. I'm sure it's beautiful at sunset. Our waiter was professional, courteous and helpful. For dinner two of us had the filet mignon, other entrees included lamb chops and halibut. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The filet was tender and flavorful. My only wish is if they had someone smaller than 10oz. For sides we had the broccoli and mashed potatoes. What a horrible experience ! First off- there's no parking. We had high hopes for the food but the food came out room temperature/cold. How are you serving a steak cold ?! They also didn't know which steak was cooked rare or medium. The service was horrible - we waited over 30 minutes for a second drink. Another guest was drunk and started disrespecting us and when we responded in a calm manner, the waiter came up to us telling US not to interact with other guests! We did the Happy Hour thing, ordering the Crunchy Sushi Bites (pictured), Chicken sandwich (pictured), short rib tacos, and short rib French fries, along with a peanut butter and chocolate dessert (pictured). Sushi Bites ($3 each) were great. Chicken sandwich ($15) was amazing. Short rib tacos ($4 each) were decent but a little dry, short rib fries ($17) were nearly untouched because we tapped out from the volume of food. Dessert was rich and tasty but probably not worth $18. The vibe was clean and professional. We got there early (4:20pm) so it was pretty empty. Came to Hudson Prime Steakhouse after a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. The outside looked small but inside was very spacious and big. Parking was easy to find, lots of street parking in the area. We had made a reservation a few days prior with plenty of openings. The inside of the steakhouse was very well decorated with holiday decors and it was very warm and cozy on a cold winter night. Our service was very good I would say, our waters were constantly being filled, servers paid attention to our table and efficiently took our orders and brought out the food. The food was pretty amazing. We got the ribeye and lamb chops, which were both sizzling when it came out, which we loved. The steak was amazing, and lamb chop was actually a lot better than expected! Before all that we actually got beef tartare, french onion soup, and thick cut bacon for appetizers and was so surprised at how the beef tartare came with a big piece of bone marrow. The french onion soup was a little salty for my liking but overall all delicious! And in the end, it was cheaper than what we expected from a steakhouse this level. Friends of ours who we haven't seen in a bit selected Hudson P. for a Friday double-date dinner. And for good reason- because even though this is their 2nd time coming here- about a block away from the Irvington Metro North station, it's become their 'it' place. Widely touted as the best steakhouse, dinner and a good view combination of the Hudson River is what will happen when you request the window. Different from usual woodsy brown steakhouse designs, Hudson is mainly black: flooring, seating, tables, board and batten. The menu is condensed at this Albanian husband and wife steakhouse- but to the point. It offers several classic cuts of beef, appetizers, salads, seafood and sides. Our wine was served table side and immediately ordered appetizers. Between our friend's slab of bacon, a wedge salad, my husband's Arugula salad and my shaved Brussel sprouts+quinoa salad, we were all satisfied. Our friend had the tomahawk steak (I think) while his wife had the filet mignon surf-n-turf and loved it. Hubs ate his already-sliced juicy NY strip- but wanted lots more char. My sea bass was chunky- yet subtle in taste. We each drooled when our server Terry brought over the dessert tray filled with all that yumminess. In the end, we all enjoyed it- but not for nothing- my peanut butter cream layered chocolate cake was divine. Our server was attentive to all our needs including my mustard allergy. Thank you. We brushed it off as "no one is perfect" and when we returned for a special occasion with family it was a night and day scenario experience. Something had changed. The service was not as crisp, the meat was NOT the same and the food overall wasn't as great as our first endeavor or round 2. We were wanting steak and my kids pressed me to go back and give it another try. Well, I am sorry to say that I will never return. Our Clams casino RAW. Sides - Potato Au Gratin - RAW. Steak came ordered MR, was in fact .... you guessed it - RAW!!!. Tough, fatty and after more heat, just pushed me over the edge. I told the server we were NOT looking for anything free, we just thought it would be important let the owners know about the food that night. We got the check, paid it and there was a moment before we finished our wine that I expected a Manager or the Owner to appear to talk to us about our experience. Sadly, no one appeared. I tried going here twice for happy hour but they had private parties. I was sooo happy for this venue getting a great crowd and it seemed to be rocking! So I tried to come on an off day when there was a heat wave and the timing was perfect for me. When I came in, the server was happy to seat me in the back but the bartender stopped him and showed him his phone, something that seemed to be very important. The next thing I know the waiter said he can't seat me because it's too hot outside. But something didn't feel right. The bartender was with a friend (probably from Brooklyn or something) and it just seemed like he thought of a quick reason. Strangely I insisted after kind of being kicked out. So the server said OK if I want to sit in the heat. Meanwhile the back was enclosed but it's true that no AC is back there. So now the manager comes over and I asked him if they really don't want people out here in the heat. He said, definitely during heat warning they don't allow it. He said they even posted it on their Facebook page or website (forgot which he said). So I checked their Facebook page and website and there are no signs of a heat advisory and that the back will be closed. In fact it advertised happy hour with exclamation points!!!! Back to my time, it was OK. The drink was nice and so was their steak taco. But for some reason I wanted to leave realizing I am the riff raff in my own town. So I paid the bill and tipped well. The manager said see you soon or something but didn't look me in the eye. I scooted out the back door that leads to the street and that was my time there. Simply the best! Table for 2 out back on the newly enhanced patio, after enjoying a couple of bourbons at the outdoor bar. The exceptional quality and breadth of the bourbon (and rye) selection was heartening and an auspicious beginning to the epic meal that was to follow. The Octopus came out first and was quite literally the best octopus dish I've had, ever. As someone who judges restaurants in no small part by the quality of their Octopus -- and in this case the heavenly potato salad style accompaniment serving as a bed for the perfectly charred, flavorful, and GENEROUS feast of freshly grilled octopus. And, it came out PIPING hot served on a hot plate. We then ordered the porter house for 2, and a rib eye for added diversification. I was immediately brought back to Peter Lugers Brooklyn in its prime -- on par with Wolfgang's on its best night. SIDES. At this point these guys walk on water and can do no wrong. Potatos au gratin which I had sampled at the bar from a new friend who offered were lights out. Served in a tower / layered format also at extreme temperatures may have stolen the show had it not been for the wild mushrooms. This made it official: 3 of the best individual dishes I've had, having spent the better part of my life frequenting Del Friscos, Strip House, Sparks, Shulas, Keans etc I am thrilled to report this humble Irvington Westchester steakhouse is right up there with the best of them. A spectacularly bad steak. If eating is a journey then Hudson Prime takes you on a journey to hell and back, with pit stops along the way. Heresy: the "Thick Cut" bacon came out and immediately brought shame to every cow that came before it. Scrawny slices cut so thin it'd make Oscar Meyer from the frozen section at CVS look like the heavyweight champion. If you've ordered and enjoyed bacon as an appetizer at steakhouses before...just don't do that here. Preserve your innocence. Lust: i ordered the dry aged ribeye, convincing myself that the bacon was a fanciful detour from where this steakhouse must obviously shine. The steak! A steak that I waited for with the delusional optimism of a Nebraskan transplant on their first Tinder date in Bushwick. We should know this will end badly, but we all have needs and use punishment as a path to enlightenment. Pride: the "ribeye" was, naturally, thinner than a pounded sirloin. It feebly wafted on a bed of watery oil. It's hard to describe how the steak looked and tasted after cutting into it - like describing an alien species from space, you've never before encountered such a thing in this mortal world. I struggled then to find the words, much like I struggle now. Watery bed of flavorless oil, conspicuously thin, dull coloring, and no fat content other than inedible chunks placed about like landmines in a battlefield. How? I asked the young waiter if the steak was OK the way an innocent bystander might ask a paramedic if a cyclist freshly hit by a Mac truck is alright. Shocked, incredulous. Driven by the sheer extremeness of the situation to say something to someone in a position of power. I was informed that it was both a perfect phone call and a perfectly cooked steak, and asked if I've ever eaten dry aged beef before. Greed: the Roman's said that there is no disputing one's taste, a saying that this establishment has managed to invalidate while giving new context on the empire's fall. While I give the staff chutzpah for saying they hoped we enjoyed the meal while carting off $100+ of barely eaten Ribeye and Filet Mignon, I cannot give anything but 1-Star. read more

Had dinner here on Saturday- party of 4. Firstly, they put us at a table for 6 as that was the only table available (we did have reservations!). It was difficult for us to hear each other talk due to the lay-out of the table. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks- the waiter actually brought 2 drinks first and went back to get the other 2 drinks, which took another 5 minutes. There was not bread put on the table- this is the only high end steak house that apparently does not serve bread. As for the food, mediocre- had bacon and calamari for appetizers. Fine, nothing special. We shared Porterhouse for the table. It was the worst porterhouse I have ever had at a high end steak house. The meat was tough and fatty- we all had to cut around the fat to get to the meat. Had creamed spinich and onion rings for sides. They were fine. We ordered two additional drinks to eat during dinner- took another 10-15 minutes to get. Finally, the waiter was completely inattentive and never checked in on us during the meal. Overall, one of the most disappointing meals I have had at a steakhouse that was certainly not cheap. Have dined at Benjamin's, Ruth's Chris, Luger's, Wolfgang's, Keen's etc. Hudson should never be spoken in the same breath as these others. read more

Our main server, Davin, in particular was wonderful. All I can say to this valet parking is that our rim was damaged by the valet guy. He looked like a kid to me but either way it's a mute point now. I noticed the rim (passenger side front) rim scraped like it had road rash the following day. My wife and I never thought to check the entire car after we got it from him. The service here was really on point. Our server, was so very attentive to us. He recommended some wines. Let my friend taste them, then she went with his recommendation. We started out with the oysters that were charbroiled. Delic! Then we were talking to the server about a steak. But the issue we have, is I like it raw, she likes it dead!
