Tried this place in Miami a few years ago and was excited to see it pop up on Tennyson here in Denver. Have tried several different doughnuts but really love the glazed vanilla bean and the chocolate cake. The others can be hit or miss for my preferences. The summer flavor of key lime pie is really great though. My vegan friends love the pbj doughnut! Definitely worth a stop if nearby. Really cute space. Nice ambiance but not a lot of seating. The flavors are really creative. I'm gluten sensitive so I was happy to see they have both gluten friendly and vegan options. (I'm not vegan but nice that they have that!) The gf flavor today was "Whoopie Pie". Really decadent made with good chocolate. It didn't taste chalky at all but had a nice rich flavor. The cake was just a touch on the dry side and It's super sweet. A decent cup of black coffee was a great addition. Who comes out on a day where a historic snowstorm is hitting Denver? Me! I have been wanting to get here since first seeing an ad on IG and signing up for emails. Today was the day after I got the Movember Mustache Boston Cream Pie email notification. I just couldn't resist! Located on busy Tennyson on the corner of 41st, perfect spot with ample room and a bright, welcoming vibe. The donuts displayed at the register is such a great move. Delicious, creative flavors ~ don't pass on the cragels - they're delicious, fluffy, and light. I had the everything and took home a jalapeno cheddar which was amazing! Coffee is Intelligentsia and enough options to suit most every need. If it's busy, you can bypass coming inside and order from the walk up window. Decent, probably more like 3.5 stars. Price was fine for me since I know LaMars sells a basic (sad) long john for $5. - Cheddar jalapeño cragel. I liked that the cream cheese was baked in. But personally I would not buy again since the dough was too sweet for me considering it's a savory pastry. - Strawberry shortcake doughnut. Too sweet, more like a dessert. Husband found a long dark hair tucked in the frosting, which is not ours since we have short hair. Not sure if they use hair nets in the back.. - Pistachio seasonal doughnut was my favorite. Just right sweetness. - Raised doughnuts were not really light and airy. Husband described them as dense. Not my preference but he enjoyed it. - Busy on a Sunday but the line went fast enough. I was very excited to try The Salty. I saw a lot of praise online and decided to stop by on an early Saturday morning around 7:30. The building itself is in a beautiful location surrounded by many local small businesses and shops! The staff was friendly and quick to get my order out. The coffee was good, not watery very and a smooth flavor and over all a very nice latte. The brown butter and salt donut was my favorite of the two, but unfortunately the chocolate cake donut was a little too greasy for my liking. I understand donuts are literally fried dough, but there is a line. I'll have to come back to try another selection but overall, it was okay. read more

Incredible donuts! I popped in here one day as I was passing by and I got donuts for me and my husband because donuts are his favorite treat. I wasn't planning to get anything for myself, but when I saw the donuts, they looked so amazing that I couldn't pass them up! For him, I got an apple crisp cinnamon roll and for myself I got one of their Halloween donuts. It was called the Boo Berry and it was in the shape of a ghost. It had a berry glazed and berry filling with a hint of lemony flavor. Absolutely delicious! Not just the flavor of the donut, but the actually dough. It was perfectly pillowy! Husband loved his cinnamon roll, and that's saying a lot because he can be pretty picky! The customer service was also excellent. Very quick and since I hadn't been there before, the gal that helped me explained many of the different options and made suggestions for me. Highly highly recommend this spot for a tasty sweet treat that's not sickly sweet, but just right. We walked in here on a Saturday morning around 10 AM. We had been here once before and the donut we had was amazing. We anticipated it would be busy on a Saturday and it was. The line was about five people deep and there were two employees. We were in the back of the line and the person in the front of the line did not have her order taken for about 10 minutes (or that's at least how long we waited, I never knew if she got her order taken or when ) I understand weekends are busy and I don't mind waiting, but the issue was that nobody was actively taking orders. We decided to leave and go to call her mother instead, where yes there was a line, but at least there was somebody taking orders. Not sure if somebody called out at the salty donut or if they normally only staff 2 employees who were both pretty busy on Saturday. Manager needs to come in and help out if that's the case and not leave 2 employees to struggle. Visiting from Los Angeles I had to try some of the more hyped up dessert spots. Luckily The Salty didn't disappoint despite some of the online hoopla! Service was quick and friendly. The interior is well designed and with a nice view of the baking process. We ordered the brown butter and salt, candied pistachio, and the everything cragel with a maple/brown sugar cold brew. The brown sugar donuts is cake donut with a deep and rich nutty flavor you can only get using brown butter 4/5! The pistachio is airy but still has a medium dense chew to it and the icing gives it a nice sweet crunchy texture 4.5/5! The cragel is awesome for you savory lovers! Crispy, salty, great texture and with the cream cheese inside it's just convenient 4.7/5! I'm not a coffee guy but the cold brew was tasty and my wife loved it! Is it expensive? Yes. The texture and flavor of the Brown Butter & Salt donut is amazing. I also enjoyed their version of Cookies and Cream, with the added salt. Saw this place all over Instagram and as someone who loved eating donuts in Chicago, I was very disappointed. The actual place was very cute. The worker didn't really greet us. Just got us our order and that was it, which was fine. The presentation of the donuts was incredible leaving us with high hopes. However, the actual donuts themselves were stale. I'm not sure if it was because we went so early in the morning but the flavor was not there and the donuts were hard. For 5 donuts we spent $24 not including tip. I wat in Denver over the weekend and craving donuts the last day we were in town. Everyone I was staying with was hungover, and I didn't feel like driving alone, so I had a delivery of donuts once I was up and moving. Upon receiving the delivery, the one savory item was missing. I called up after we cleaned the air bnb and was met with the kindest voice, immediately ready to help me. I decided the best option was to go in and grab my one item. When I got there, the building was gorgeous, the interior was a bakers dream, and the staff, including the person I talked to, were so sweet and efficient. They ended up giving me two of the savory item I was missing, and a box of 4 more donuts! It made the ride home even that much more enjoyable. These donuts are so good! I cannot complain about a single thing. From the way their made to displayed is absolute perfection. They nabbed a lifetime fan with me! I've never been disappointed in a donut from The Salty! The white chocolate pistachio was my favorite but recently I had a banana cream pie-esque situation that might be even better. The texture of their donuts is unmatched, and NEVER greasy- I don't know how they do it. I always have to get an egg and potato croissant too- so flaky and tasty.
