This was my second time here; first time bringing my MIL. The food, as usually, was amazing. I had the Kentucky (so good). My sandwich had more personality than the chick at the counter. She had a mouth full of food while we were trying to order, she just stared at us when we walked up (no ,"how are you, what can I get you, here's a menu" nothing). When she brought us our food she walked over to the table and just stood there and stared (didn't say anything just held our plates). I had to initiate everything. It's decorated different than other breakfast joints I've seen tables and breakfast books, chairs and sofas at certain tables and the decor is adorable. This place definitely has character. When you first arrive you can browse the menus up front and then order at the counter and sit wherever. My fiancé ordered The Bennie and I ordered The Kentucky and I will say both dishes were so good. I did have a White Chocolate Pumpkin Cold Foam as well and it was *chefs kiss*. I will say if you are a picky eater or love just a standard breakfast then this place is not for you. Almost every item is unique and there isn't a dish that's just plain eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage etc without ordering all items separately off the Ala Carte which can be pricy doing it that way. Now, to the reasons why I did not give this place 5 stars. As first time customers I felt we were not greeted appropriately. The staff weren't rude but they also weren't as inviting as you think they would've been at a smaller business. I also asked the lady about water and she looked at me and pointed to the basket of carafes of water at the front counter as if I should have known that was the process and then didn't say much after that. Another reason is my grandma was with and was clearly elderly and could not eat a normal plate so my grandma asked if she could get something off the kids meal since the other plates had too much food for her to ever finish. The lady without hesitation said no and wouldn't budge on that so my grandma just ordered a plain biscuit and we had to go somewhere else for her afterwards. While I do understand the 10 and under rule for the kids menu I do feel as a small business they could have accommodated her for goodness sake. That was such a disappointment having to see her sit there while we ate our stuff because we had already ordered it and for that, this place was a slight turn off. read more

Lucky find. We were looking for a place to eat breakfast and stumbled upon this sassylicious cafe. The menu is not like any other I've seen. The decor comfortable and charming. Ordered the Johnston style biscuits and gravy, and subbed the rice for grits. It was delicious- gravy was a bit salty but not too much. Egg was a little over cooked but yolk was still runny. The combo of all three was delicious. My daughter had the kids French Toast, which was filling and light at the same time. It's made biscuit style. Can't wait to come back and try some of the other menu items. This will definitely be a regular go to. PS loved the style of service. Order at counter and find a table. My hippy heart loves this little hipster joint. My hubs and I stopped in after driving into town from Cody. This was the first place we hit. I loved that this place serves their drinks with the reed type straws that are biodegradable and water in reusable bottles. My hubs got the Sassy - Which I guess are waffle pressed biscuits... They were waffles to me... really delicious waffles! That cinnamon butter was soooooooooooooo goooooooooood. I got the Firecracker... It was chicken and an apple coleslaw topped biscuit. So yummy. So, of our entire trip to Montana, The Sassy Biscuit was by far the most disappointing experience, despite friends and family suggesting it highly. That said, one employee alone lost three of the four stars here. We walked in this morning and staked out a few tables near each other as we had 5 people and there were only two-person tables available at the time. No biggie. It's Sunday and brunch is busy. Once everyone was there and had reviewed a menu, we went to the counter to place our order. The cashier, who seemed entirely uninterested, took our order and provided us with a number to display where we were sitting. We displayed the number and shortly thereafter a gentleman very loudly demanded to know if we'd ordered a particular dish. When we said it didn't sound familiar, he demanded to know why we only had one number for three small tables. He then lectured us that we should have multiple numbers if we have multiple tables. Next, the same gentleman came out with some food. He brought out mostly accurate food but one dish was duplicated and one dish was missing. When we explained this, he absolutely insisted we had ordered wrong. When we pressed the issue, he blamed the kitchen staff and explained that to fix the issue, it would take a while. Within just a few minutes, the same gentleman came back with the dish that had actually been ordered and again blamed the kitchen staff for the mix up. During that interaction, one member of our party asked him about a side of bacon and a coffee that hadn't yet been brought out and he got right in all our face and explained he was a "prep cook" and we needed to go to the counter it we had questions like that. He made it very clear that even though he was delivering food, that wasn't his job and we should appreciate it. Not more than a couple minutes later, the same gentleman walked past another employee who was clearing tables and knocked a glass off his cart which shattered in the middle of the restaurant. The "prep cook" shrugged it off and kept walking while the other employee had to get cleanup supplies and take care of the mess the other gentleman made. I've never seen a restaurant employee with such complete disregard for their customers and their fellow employees. As to the food, I had the Cluck and my husband had the Kentucky, it had wonderful flavor, but the serving was chaotic and the food was mostly cold or Luke-warm at best when we got it. Really sad, because this place has so much potential. But I wouldn't set foot in here ever again based on today's experience. read more

Staff finally got around to opening the door somewhere around 10 after. Hostess could not spare a welcoming smile or kind word -- very un-southern. Took another 10 min standing at the cash register before she took our order. Again, not a smile in sight, just the standard excuse in 2024, "short staffed." well guess what: we are all "short staffed", and frankly not really interested in hearing about it anymore. Don't complain to your customers, or in front of your customers, about your back-of-house problems. The payment app, of course, asked for a tip before the first molecule of food or dollop of service was rendered. I'm *really* over that. My wife and I both ordered breakfast entrées under the "dropped biscuit" category. My wife's entree was missing that biscuit. My biscuit was tasty, but my "not a bit runny" egg was quite runny, yolk squirting out at me when I cut it. The rest of the food was cold, which is hard to understand given that I was among the first to order and be served. On the plus side, the coffee was good, although we had to chase down the other server to get a refill. neither of us liked the bacon, which was more like pork belly, and was also cold. Other than the coldness, I understand the bacon is a matter of personal preference. There were no paper towels in the men's room dispenser. However, someone did manage to simply leave the 1 foot diameter bulk paper towel roll on the sink edge to get wet, because evidently refilling the dispenser was too much to ask. It's the small things that convey to customers that they are a nuisance, rather than the reason the business exists. I work in a public-facing industry, so I understand the challenges businesses face post Covid in finding and keeping employees. I don't want to see anyone's business fail, but I simply cannot recommend this place to anyone based on the poor food and indifferent-to-rude service we experienced. We were greeted with a friendly enough woman at the register but she wasn't very helpful in suggesting anything. My mom and I opted to split the shrimp and grits. She had a coffee and I ordered a blueberry lemonade. Later to be told they didn't have any and had to opt for an ice tea. They had you a number and you go sit and they bring your food. The shrimp and grits was ok. You get 4 large shrimp. I'm so spoiled when it comes to grits that if you're going to advertise them they shouldn't be lumpy or gritty. They should be smooth and creamy. Unfortunately they weren't the later. The shrimp and sauce was ok. Very garlicky. The biscuit however that was served with it was very tasty. Would I come back? Meh. Maybe but unlikely. read more

We were visiting family for the weekend and before heading to the airport they suggested stopping here for brunch. Always up for a good brunch. Walked in and the first thing I noticed was the unique use of space around beams that would otherwise be a pain and prevent seating. The menu was interesting and full of items that looked delicious. While ordering at the counter I had placed a $25 gift card that was printed out from the computer on the counter that my father in law had purchased last year to go towards the bill. The cashier didn't see it, and frankly I didn't remember to remind her of it, until our order was placed. I made mention of it, thought it could be adjusted somehow but was met with a look of confusion. Ok, I own that. We were a few seconds from 11 so couldn't order mimosas. I walked to the back of the line to order our bucket and apple spice mimosa to find out the gift card couldn't be used for alcohol purchases which confuses me. Food begins to show up and the individual delivering the food dropped off to Kentuckian biscuits, which was wrong. It was to be a Cluck and Kentuckian. To make sure I didn't get charged for two KY and a Cluck I walked to the counter and a nice individual who was making coffee was able to confirm I had not been charged twice. While at the counter, I watched as the individual who was delivering food to tables coughed into his hands, touched tickets and items at the expedite area, cough again into his elbow and never once wash his hands. The entire tables food was cold unfortunately. The biscuit was very good. We ordered a side of sausage and you could tell it was made by hand, nice! Unfortunately it was so salty it was not edible. Not a fan of self serve stations and restaurants where you order and then go sit down and wait.I love them in urban big citys where there is limited space but loathe them in my little city of Billings. It's not a good system and they dont explain it very well so you kind of feel stupid walking in. My biggest pet peeve ever is standing in line at a new place looking at a menu and having to order. The joy of eating out is sitting down and having a moment to look over a menu. Otherwise it causes me anxiety and feeling rushed to order while people stand behind me who are also waiting to order. They get points for decent food but I dont like the lack of interaction with people and self serve water station. I say decent food because my food really was just okay. I like the kind of food they offer. Its pricey considering they dont have any help or servers to pay. We were one of two tables in the restaurant, and somehow our food took 25-30 mins.. all for us to get this. I have no idea how they couldn't tell that the cheese wasn't even melted when they cut this and plated it. The cheese was still cold, falling off the bread, and hadn't even begun to melt. This used to be one of our favorite places in Billings. Paying $50 for a super disappointing lunch is not something we will choose to do again. read more
