We hosted a surprise college graduation party for my son, and from the very first conversation, Joanne, the entire Handlebar J team, and the Herndon Brothers went to the moon and back to make sure every detail was flawless. This was not just another event for them--this was personal, and it showed in every single moment. The menu was incredible--beautifully presented, thoughtfully curated, and absolutely delicious. The service was seamless, warm, and attentive, making every guest feel genuinely cared for. But what truly set this experience apart was the emotional support and compassion they extended to everyone in attendance. This celebration held deep meaning for our family, especially for a brother who lost his little sister, and the Handlebar J team handled it with grace, sensitivity, and love. Whether you're looking for a fun night out with amazing country music, outstanding food, or a venue that will treat your private event like it's the most important one they've ever hosted, Handlebar J is the place. I cannot recommend them highly enough--contact them immediately if you're considering an event. There are two true testaments to a great business: longevity and loyalty. Handlebar J has both. There's a reason they've been here for decades and why people keep coming back--it's their passion for people, their dedication to their craft, and their genuine love for the community. In a world where so many places come and go, Handlebar J endures--and it's because of their staff, their entertainment, and the undeniable heart behind everything they do. Thank you, Handlebar J, for making a once-in-a-lifetime moment truly unforgettable.

It tries to be those things and fails in all. The layout: It's a long narrow room. The stage is on the smaller far end. The tables are arranged going back along the long direction. If you're sitting more than halfway back you'll be disappointed in the seating. In the back are high-top tables which are very small. The "bar" is along the long wall. The "restaurant" is catered food ( I don't think the venue has a kitchen). It's arranged buffet style on portable tables in the lobby. You go in a line and chose your dinner and they hand it to you in a plastic to-go container. You eat at your table and then bus your leftovers and trash to the trash can. There is no wait service. Just like eating at a fast food restaurant. If your sitting at a small high-top table there's not enough room for more than two people to eat. You'll be seated with strangers and they'll be right in your face as you eat. The "bar" only has beer and wine for alcohol. Or you could get a canned mixed drink. Stand in line and wait your turn at the end of the bar. The bar seats are reserved for the show. Remember no wait service. So if you want a drink during the show you have to go to the bar. Music was not Jazz. Very slow, boring folk. The crowd was 70+ year olds. And they charge for this experience? Won't be going back.

I haven't had a drink I haven't liked, you can't go wrong with any of them. The 50 first dates has become my favorite, however. For food, the milk bread is a delicious starter. The chicken tenders are also amazing. Can't wait to go back!

We made our way down the stairs and the hostess was there ready to check us in. We didn't wait at all and got seated right away. Once seated it took a while for the server to come take our order. There was live music going on which kept us entertained for the time being. After about 15 minutes, she finally came over to greet us and take our drink orders. We ordered: 1 WILD STRAWBABY - Ocho Blanco Tequila, Bergamot, Strawberry, Pineapple, Lemon, Almond Milk $22 1 50 FIRST DATES - Bumbu Rum, Cascara, Brown Sugar Date Syrup, Coconut Milk, Cinnamon Sprinkle $22 1 BLUEBERRY MULE - Blueberry, Lime, Ginger Beer $13 The drinks didn't take too long and another bartender dropped them off. Water was never offered to us and was only given to us after we asked. All the other tables were given water once they were seated. Our drinks were good but we chose to just have one each and we left. The live music was great. The musician was playing the piano and kept it fun and upbeat. The inside is pretty cool and unique but service could've definitely been better though. *There's a $10 cover fee per person when there is live music*

For almost a year, my boyfriend and I had been talking about visiting Grand Hyatt Scottsdale. We…read morewatch Next Level Chef featuring Richard Blais, who has two restaurants on this property - Tiki Taka and La Zozonna. This inspired a weekend stay for our one year anniversary of officially dating that falls on 4th of July. Upon arriving, there are both valet and self-parking. We chose self-parking, which ended up being $30/day and a $.50 fee for processing via the QR code on the receipt. I find this easier than the hassle of someone grabbing items, then bringing up. Though, you will have to wheel them through the parking lot so chose which works best for you. Our Room: - King Bed + sofa - 4th Floor (highest) - Pool view + balcony (very spacious and would book a pool view in the future again) - Balmain Paris shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion which were fabulous! Dining Options (separate reviews if dined there): - Two pool bars (H2Oasis and Sandbar) - Canyon Market - Mesa Centrale - Grand Vista Lounge - La Zazonna - Tiki Taka - Room Service: I believe this is serviced by Canyon Marketplace or Mesa Centrale. A bit pricey, but enjoyed a burger to our room one night. Actually ended up preferring that one to the one served at H2Oasis. 4th of July Fireworks: - Our room had a balcony on the fourth level, and ended up being perfect for fireworks as they shoot off from behind the pool. If your room is not situated to see, there is reserved spot for hotel guests, but we chose to view from our balcony. 4th of July Festivities: DJs, live music, games, curated menus, a bald eagle in the lobby, resort specific fireworks, and more! If you are looking for a destination for your next 4th of July, I'd highly recommend this! Pools: - Adults Only (our preferred as less busy and enjoyed H2Oasis) - Family Pool Over our two night stay, we had plenty of dining and activities that we didn't leave the property. We both throughly enjoyed, and it was hard to return home even though nothing beats cat snuggles. Love to return for another staycation and will be on the lookout for other events and activities that will draw me back.

Nice Resort, But Very Slow Cabana & Food Service…read more We recently spent Mother's Day at the pool with several families and rented three cabanas for the day. Each cabana included a bucket of drinks, and overall the property and pool area were very nice, which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of less. Unfortunately, the service throughout the day fell short. We waited close to an hour before anyone checked on us at the cabanas or brought drinks, despite paying a premium price for the experience. Food service was also very slow, with long waits for basic orders. Our waiter was polite and apologetic once he finally arrived, but for a resort at this price point, especially on a busy holiday weekend, the service should have been much more organized and attentive.

The restaurant and bar were not busy, so I expected prompt service, but unfortunately the service was surprisingly slow. I ordered the Fish & Chips, and I will give credit where it's due, even though it wasn't a large serving, the food itself was good. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the visit. The noise level inside the restaurant was overwhelming. The music was excessively loud, and to be honest not all that good of selection, making conversation difficult, and the staff were laughing and talking loudly just to be heard over it. It created a chaotic atmosphere that wasn't enjoyable, especially for an early evening meal in an almost empty restaurant/bar. What concerned me most was the overall cleanliness. There was food on the floor, crumbs and debris on the tables, and dirt and food particles and trash along the ledge surrounding our booth. It didn't look like these areas had been properly cleaned for quite some time. The television above our booth was covered with fingerprints, smudges, and food splatter, and the windows and patio doors were equally dirty. When the front-of-house is in that condition, it naturally makes you wonder what the kitchen and back-of-house look like. To add to the disappointment, my bill included a 4% "Event Venue Fee." There was no live music, private event, or special function taking place, just a quiet early evening meal. Charging an event fee under those circumstances felt unjustified and left a poor final impression. While Whiskey Row may be a fun destination for live entertainment or a special event, I would not recommend it as a place to enjoy a meal. Between the slow service, excessive noise, lack of cleanliness, unexplained additional fee, and super high prices, the experience simply did not live up to the reputation or the celebrity name attached to it. Very disappointing. I won't be returning.

You can taste the difference when everything coming out of the kitchen is made in-house. The happy hour and lunch drink specials have a nice kick to them--nothing over the top, just well done and fairly priced. It fits the vibe of the place perfectly. Now, I'll be honest--my personal weakness here is the creamy coleslaw. It's that good. I'm talking "I could eat a full dinner plate of it and call it a meal" good. Not many places get coleslaw right... they do. Service matters, and we've found our spot with Holly's section. Bottom line: Village Tavern is one of those dependable, comfortable places you keep coming back to. Good food, honest atmosphere, and service that makes the whole experience easy.
