This place has an eclectic menu that covers a lot of ground--great sandwiches, solid seafood, and well-executed entrées. What really stands out is that it's a true scratch kitchen. You can taste the difference when everything coming out of the kitchen is made in-house. The happy hour and lunch drink specials have a nice kick to them--nothing over the top, just well done and fairly priced. It fits the vibe of the place perfectly. Now, I'll be honest--my personal weakness here is the creamy coleslaw. It's that good. I'm talking "I could eat a full dinner plate of it and call it a meal" good. Not many places get coleslaw right... they do. Service matters, and we've found our spot with Holly's section. We went for a quick lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. There were several affordable options for lunch and the kids menu was great. My little baby was happy with his grilled chicken breast, apples and greens beans. I ordered the prime rib sandwich with fries it was so good, probably the best one i have tried. I had the Prime Rib and it was excellent. It was cooked a perfect medium rare. It came with a loaded baked potato. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich with a salad. The crab cake was excellent along with the French onion soup. My husband enjoyed his bbq babyback ribs --they fell off the bone! Village Tavern absolutely nails the balance of a relaxing atmosphere with one that feels upbeat and positive. The interior is warm and calming with rich dark wood, soft low lighting, and subtle lively background music. The outdoor patio is shaded and inviting with red tablecloths that make it feel clean and intentional rather than like an outdoor sun-blasted seating area. Service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Every employee was smiling as they walked by, even while clearly busy. We went on a Sunday during the lunch hours and didn't have to wait (which already put them ahead of the other places nearby where we've eaten after church), -- and it got even better with the service and food here. We sat in the bar area so my husband could watch sports on TV. (I'm one of those people who takes a little too long to "savor" a meal). The space opens directly to the patio through large wall doors, so you get a nice flow of fresh air throughout. With the full bar and an additional row of seating behind it, there's plenty of room to relax, watch a game, and enjoy a casual meal. Our server, Macy, was outstanding -- such a great personality, positive, professional and attentive. She noticed when my Arnold Palmer dropped below half and had it refilled before I even had to ask. Now the food -- very generous portions (you have to see my photos) & delicious! My husband had the French Toast With Fruit which came with fresh banana slices, strawberries, and blueberries, and was made with FOUR thick slices of French brioche bread (rich, soft, and perfectly fried). On the side were their signature "hash browns" -- roasted baby red potato halves. I'll be honest, I usually get disappointed when it's not the classic shredded kind... but these completely changed my mind. Theirs were genuinely delicious, like they'd been soaked for hours in some special herbed-oil goodness before roasting. I had the Quiche Lorraine (a large slice with a light, airy egg filling and just the right amount of cheese) which came with a blueberry muffin and those same incredible "Village Hash Browns." I was surprised how good it was. I came here a couple times for lunch and wasn't too impressed but dinner is a different story. They have a great extensive menu. There's something for everyone. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and they are probably the best scallops I've ever eaten in my life; the bacon was cooked perfect and wasn't too salty which is really nice with the lightness of the scallops. We also ordered the sea bass that came out really delicious - the sauce is good but the fish may have been a little bit overcooked but was overall still very good. The butter cake here is delicious as well; super sweet and just melts in your mouth. I wish I remembered the name of our server because he was really nice and very educated on the food and wine selections and was able to tell us a story or a really nice description. 10/10 will come again! read more

This is a great restaurant. It has kind of a lodge feel with beams and rafters on the ceiling, two big stone fireplaces, and lots of wood. I guess you could say it has a "village" feel to it, which--duh--is in the name. There is a great bar with hightop tables and a stone fireplace. It was full and so was the seating at the bar. You go down a little hallway around the corner to get to the main dining room which is quite large. Toward the back of the dining room you see the brightly tiled kitchen, which has a fire oven. I will say that this place is LOUD. It isn't because of music, just the acoustics and people talking. it was hard to converse across the table. We had a reservation and waited about 5 minutes for a table. Our server came promptly and was great. We ordered: *Three amigos margarita *Triple berry cosmopolitan *Chocolate Martini *House made potato chips with ranch *Greek salad with salmon *Maple glazed pork chops with apple chutney, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans The cocktails are all delicious. The chocolate martini was a perfect dessert drink. The Greek salad was good, but was definitely not a Greek salad. In fact, it did not even have cucumbers. But the salmon was perfectly cooked, high quality salmon and the salad was Good, so It was fine. The pork chop was really good. The glaze was perfect and not too maple-y. The mashed potatoes were good and the green beans were very very good, but I did not care at all for the Apple chutney. While we were way too full, we did notice a lot of desserts going by. Very nice, fancy place! I came in with colleagues for dinner and we were able to quickly secure a table without waiting, even though it was packed. It was a seat yourself situation though. The server was very kind and knowledgeable, he was very charismatic as well. We ordered a variety of things from fish to vegan burgers and everything was good. The drinks are well made, and prices are reasonable for the type of atmosphere. I'd say there was definitely a more senior crowd than younger people. Overall 10/10! read more

Cannot rave enough about Village Tavern!! Food, service, atmosphere; the whole nine yards! I was in Scottsdale on a business trip and always look for the small hole in the wall places to eat. This looks like one on paper (name sounds like a pub), but clearly not; or, at least, they don't act like it! Being alone, I chose to sit at one of the two person tables in the bar! Glad I did!! I would never have received the attentive, warm service given by Macy and her gang had I not. They are all very friendly and very dialed on the customer experience! The menu was very thorough on choices covering just about every eating style and type out there! I went twice and I chose the clam chowder, spinach salad with chicken and Brussels Sprouts to start the meals. The meals I chose were the salmon and prime rib sandwich. All items were banging and I would have had more if my stomach and time allowed! The setup of the place was well thought out also, in that, the bar area was separate from the larger eating room area by the reception area. Also, the decor has a very English/Irish pub feel to it! Which I love! Located just a block away from my hotel, I could not visit this place only once! SO GOOD! I will return every time I am in Scottsdale and you should go as well! We usually come to Village Tavern specifically for the prime rib and ribeye, and we haven't yet had the chance to try the other menu offerings. The service was top-notch when we arrived. We had called ahead for order pickup, and although there was a miscommunication between the call and the pickup, the manager was incredibly kind and helped us out right away. The ambiance is what you'd expect from a restaurant/bar setting. It's always busy when we visit in the evenings, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance--especially if you're coming with a large group. I drove by this place the other day and decided that I needed to order from there the crabcake sandwich immediately caught my eye my significant other is for Maryland and we love the crabcakes there I've honestly had three of these sandwiches since I drove by this place they're so good. I will say this something about the sweet potato fries. The first time I got them was way better than any other time. Sometimes they're a little soggy and I like them when they're crisp and they have like a brown sugar on them or something they were so good the first time We also had the tacos soup salad everything's amazing. Second time visiting and had a great time celebrating a birthday with friends. Our party of five was seated promptly in a large booth that I had called to request earlier in the day. The service was impeccable. She asked all the right questions and answered questions about menu items along with great suggestions. She also came back to confirm for the kitchen which meal was for the guest with celiac disease. I loved the shrimp and grits with just a little bit of spice to it. My wife and I went to Village Tavern last night for dinner. After some challenges on a previous visit, we had been asked to visit again, and we are glad we did so. We experienced great customer service from our server to the host podium, the food was delicious, and everything progressed well in terms of time. We did experience a small issue with drinks, but the restaurant did a great job managing that. We certainly had an all-around good experience, and we will continue to visit Village Tavern in the future. We arrived about ten minutes before our reservation time (on a Saturday evening on a holiday weekend) and were seated within a few minutes of arrival (still prior to our reservation time). We were seated at a spacious booth table, and our server arrived soon after we did. Our server was very friendly and attentive and provided good recommendations. We started off with drinks where I inquired about a fruity and sweet drink, where the blueberry mojito was recommended (Bacardi® Limon, blueberry, mint, hand pressed lime, and sparkling water). We saw in the photos how dark the drink was, and it was clearly a fruity drink, so we both went for that. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it was almost clear, and in one sip, neither of us could taste any of the fruit flavor (blueberry or lime), but rather the sparkling water. My wife had that drink on our last visit, and she clarified it wasn't supposed to look or taste like that. When we pointed that out to our server, she quickly brought it back and offered us a different drink. I chose a glass of moscato (Seven Daughters, Moscato, Veneto, Italy, 2023), which was refreshing and sweet as expected. My wife decided against a replacement drink at that time. We kept this meal simple as we both ordered burgers with fries. I ordered a cheeseburger, and my wife ordered a salmon burger. Both burgers were delicious, and the fries were a nice side for the burgers. We were not as hungry as we thought we would be (probably due to the Thanksgiving holiday only two days earlier), so we ended up passing on appetizers and dessert, though on our previous visit, we only had good things to say about their appetizers and desserts on the menu. Went on a Thursday night for date night with my husband. We made a reservation thinking we could do happy hour, but it turns out reservations are only for the dining room section. We ordered the crab cake, which was soft, flavorful, and full of crab meat (I just wish it was a little bigger!) We also got the short rib quesadilla , the short ribs were juicy, tender, and melted in your mouth. We finished with a steak, and everything was great. Our server was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. We have been quite a few times and last night was great again... and a good value. We had the tender and tasty Grouper special, a perfectly cooked large Delmonico Rib Eye, a full rack of fall off the bone barbecued baby back ribs, and a perfectly cooked medium rare tender prime rib. We had wine. All four of us rated our meals perfect! We ended the meal with their famous warm butter cake and a large slice of an awesome key lime pie with an amazing graham cracker crust. Lunch time and happy hour time is the busiest. You don't need to have a reservation, the wait at the longest for the dining room is usually only 10-20 minutes tops. I've been in a handful of times but on my most recent visit, I was with a party of five. We were seated in a booth in the dining area. Some of us had wine to start and we shared the brussels sprouts and cauliflower appetizers. Both were very good! For entrees, a couple of friends went for the fish special of the day (Grouper) prepared to their liking. One friend went for the French Dip sandwich, and I tried the spaghetti squash entree and added shrimp. I normally love spaghetti squash, but this version was filled with all kinds of other veggies and it was light on the squash itself. I would not order that again. We did share a couple of desserts (butter cake and key lime pie). Both were very good and a nice sweet ending to our meal. Service was mostly attentive and prices are fair... I debated giving 3 or 4 stars for this tavern, but I'll round up due to it being an "oldie but goodie" (not great but good!) I did find it quite weird we had to ask for the cocktail menu at dinner instead of being handed that when we arrived. Their large variety is what drew us to try this place. For drinks we had a cocktail and the pomegranate sangria. The cocktail tastes of straight lemon juice and the sangria just tastes like syrup. Those were very disappointing.
