NEW House Made Veggie Burger
Sundeep I.

Went to village tavern on Sunday afternoon and they are packed with people. We tried garden salad and veggie burger. Both were fantastic and the fries that came with the burger were delicious. Service and ambiance were good. Slightly on the pricier side but the taste justifies it. Tip - if you have Amex gold or platinum card, you can use your rest credit at this restaurant

I loved the setting and the atmosphere. Our food was amazing. The steaks were perfectly cooked as ordered. The menu had a lot of items on it. The staff were very friendly the minute we walked in. My only problem was the wait which was excruciating !

Warm Butter Cake

We went for a quick lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. There were several affordable options for lunch and the kids menu was great. My little baby was happy with his grilled chicken breast, apples and greens beans. I ordered the prime rib sandwich with fries it was so good, probably the best one i have tried. The meat was sliced thin, just the way I like it. My guy had the bacon cheddar chicken sandwich and he said it was really good. Then we tried the butter cake for dessert, it was amazing. I would come just for dessert. The cake was soft in the middle with a little soft like crust. The ice cream melted just right and the drizzle. Yum

Village Tavern is a rock solid establishment. I dined here with my wife when we were in town for our anniversary. We walked over since we were staying close by. I had the Prime Rib and it was excellent. It was cooked a perfect medium rare. It came with a loaded baked potato. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich with a salad. She enjoyed her food as well. The menu has a great selection of items no matter what you're in the mood for. Had a few cocktails and they were well prepared. Good selection of beer on tap. Service was great with zero problems. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Scottsdale.

The outdoor patio is really inviting and comfortable.

Village Tavern absolutely nails the balance of a relaxing atmosphere with one that feels upbeat and positive. The interior is warm and calming with rich dark wood, soft low lighting, and subtle lively background music. The outdoor patio is shaded and inviting with red tablecloths that make it feel clean and intentional rather than like an outdoor sun-blasted seating area. Service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Every employee was smiling as they walked by, even while clearly busy. We went on a Sunday during the lunch hours and didn't have to wait (which already put them ahead of the other places nearby where we've eaten after church), -- and it got even better with the service and food here. We sat in the bar area so my husband could watch sports on TV. (I'm one of those people who takes a little too long to "savor" a meal). The space opens directly to the patio through large wall doors, so you get a nice flow of fresh air throughout. With the full bar and an additional row of seating behind it, there's plenty of room to relax, watch a game, and enjoy a casual meal. Our server, Macy, was outstanding -- such a great personality, positive, professional and attentive. She noticed when my Arnold Palmer dropped below half and had it refilled before I even had to ask. Now the food -- very generous portions (you have to see my photos) & delicious! My husband had the French Toast With Fruit which came with fresh banana slices, strawberries, and blueberries, and was made with FOUR thick slices of French brioche bread (rich, soft, and perfectly fried). On the side were their signature "hash browns" -- roasted baby red potato halves. I'll be honest, I usually get disappointed when it's not the classic shredded kind... but these completely changed my mind. Theirs were genuinely delicious, like they'd been soaked for hours in some special herbed-oil goodness before roasting. I had the Quiche Lorraine (a large slice with a light, airy egg filling and just the right amount of cheese) which came with a blueberry muffin and those same incredible "Village Hash Browns." This is one of those places where the food, atmosphere, and service all align, and you walk to your car saying, "That was really good! We've gotta go back next week."

Overall a solid 4.5/5 but rounding up due to a comfortable ambiance and great service. Stopped in for a weekday lunch and ordered a variety of items. The crab cake was excellent along with the French onion soup. My husband enjoyed his bbq babyback ribs --they fell off the bone! My shrimp Hemingway was decent although the shrimp was pretty overcooked. The dining area is large and full of booths and pretty comfortable overall. The menu has something for everyone and there is a large brick pizza oven in the back. I would definitely return to try more of the menu items when I'm back in the area!

I was surprised how good it was. I came here a couple times for lunch and wasn't too impressed but dinner is a different story. They have a great extensive menu. There's something for everyone. The service was great. The food was good. They have a great wine selection. I definitely do want to come back. The pork chop that I ordered was cooked to perfection and was so delicious. We started out with the salad and crispy brussels sprouts. Both were yummy. My husband's fillet was also cooked to perfection, juicy, and tender. So I definitely recommend this place. If you haven't tried it, you should.

This is a great restaurant. It has kind of a lodge feel with beams and rafters on the ceiling, two big stone fireplaces, and lots of wood. I guess you could say it has a "village" feel to it, which--duh--is in the name. There is a great bar with hightop tables and a stone fireplace. It was full and so was the seating at the bar. You go down a little hallway around the corner to get to the main dining room which is quite large. Toward the back of the dining room you see the brightly tiled kitchen, which has a fire oven. I will say that this place is LOUD. It isn't because of music, just the acoustics and people talking. it was hard to converse across the table. We had a reservation and waited about 5 minutes for a table. Our server came promptly and was great. We ordered: *Three amigos margarita *Triple berry cosmopolitan *Chocolate Martini *House made potato chips with ranch *Greek salad with salmon *Maple glazed pork chops with apple chutney, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans The cocktails are all delicious. The chocolate martini was a perfect dessert drink. The Greek salad was good, but was definitely not a Greek salad. In fact, it did not even have cucumbers. But the salmon was perfectly cooked, high quality salmon and the salad was Good, so It was fine. The pork chop was really good. The glaze was perfect and not too maple-y. The mashed potatoes were good and the green beans were very very good, but I did not care at all for the Apple chutney. While we were way too full, we did notice a lot of desserts going by. They looked amazing!

Cannot rave enough about Village Tavern!! Food, service, atmosphere; the whole nine yards! I was in Scottsdale on a business trip and always look for the small hole in the wall places to eat. This looks like one on paper (name sounds like a pub), but clearly not; or, at least, they don't act like it! Being alone, I chose to sit at one of the two person tables in the bar! Glad I did!! I would never have received the attentive, warm service given by Macy and her gang had I not. They are all very friendly and very dialed on the customer experience! The menu was very thorough on choices covering just about every eating style and type out there! I went twice and I chose the clam chowder, spinach salad with chicken and Brussels Sprouts to start the meals. The meals I chose were the salmon and prime rib sandwich. All items were banging and I would have had more if my stomach and time allowed! The setup of the place was well thought out also, in that, the bar area was separate from the larger eating room area by the reception area. Also, the decor has a very English/Irish pub feel to it! Which I love! Located just a block away from my hotel, I could not visit this place only once! SO GOOD! I will return every time I am in Scottsdale and you should go as well! Thank you Macy (and enjoy nursing) and Village Tavern for the hospitality and making my trip just that much better! (Sorry I didn't get pix of the rest of the meals)

I would definitely recommend this spot for an eventful dinner or a great date night. The Food & Drinks: We ordered the red snapper served with a side of whole carrot and the sea bass served with a side of broccolini. The fish was incredibly fresh, light, and flavorful! To top it off, we ordered a classic margarita on the side, which paired perfectly with the meal. I already need to go back just to try the other specials on the menu. The Ambiance & Service: We made a reservation ahead of time to be safe, and we were seated immediately upon arriving. We visited during the transition from winter to spring when the evening air was a bit chilly, but they had a heater placed perfectly near us to keep everything warm and comfortable. The service was top-tier our food arrived in a quick 12 to 15 minutes after ordering. Logistics: We used their valet service for the car, and just like the rest of the night, it was prompt, professional, and effortless. Money and time well spent.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

The customized menus for occasions are a staple and always super fun and a fantastic touch and a way to stand out and be unique compared to other high end restaurants. I loved the classic but modern feel of the whole restaurant. Our server has medium length hair and there's an open flame live lit candle and every time she bent over to clean the table or put food down, I was extremely worried her hair was about to catch on fire, she did not tuck her hair or anything just free will letting it dangle hoping it wouldn't catch on fire. Very concerning. We've been here a handful of times before for special occasions and it's been fantastic. However I don't know why the flavors this time just were not it. Everything, I mean everything, was so extremely salty. Not just the seafood tower we got and the lemon pasta but the steak, the sides, everything was so so so salty. I finished 5 glasses of water that night. We also specifically requested to save the bone from the tomahawk because we like to make stew from it. Sure that's not very fine dining of us but I also don't think that's for other people to judge. But the servers didn't pack the bone like we requested. The sides were very delicious though! Slightly salty like I said but the flavor itself was fantastic!! Plenty of free parking at the nearby parking garages at the mall, just a 5min walk is all

For a little less than a year, my boyfriend and I have said if we make it to our one year of dating…read morethen we'd book our anniversary at Grand Hyatt Scottsdale to try both Richard Blais' restaurants as we are fans of Next Level Chef. On the day of our anniversary, we booked La Zozzona after dining at Tiki Taka the night before (see other page for review). What We Ordered: - Beginning Toast: we tried a lovely brut to toast with, and greatly appreciate the sampling even if we both settled on ordering cocktails instead. - Bread Service (focaccia): we both loved the bread service, and I really enjoyed the rosemary on top. - Classic Negroni: my boyfriend said it was very good, and one of his favorites that he has had dining out with me. - Grey Goose Martini with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives: my usual is a dirty martini, so I decided to order as they had blue cheese stuffed olives. I started with grey goose, and it was a great martini. - Belvedere Martini with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives: after my first, I switched to Belvedere as I wanted to determine if I liked Grey Goose better. The jury is still out as both make a great martini, though I forever love Double Cross Vodka that is found at Carthay Circle in Disney's California Adventure. - Crispy Mozzarella: to begin the meal, we started with this as I love cheese and what's not to love about a giant mozzarella stick?! The batter was seasoned well, and was complimented deliciously by the marinara served on the side. - Raviolo, spinach artichoke, crispy shallot butter sauce, cured yolk: our server suggested, though we both didn't particularly care for. We believe it was possibly the cured yolk that was off putting. It's a pass for next time, but we understand it was just not our flavor palate as it was executed well. - Rigatoni "alla Zozzona": A house speciality, so we had to order to try. My boyfriend chose this as his dish and I tried a few bites. Definitely a delicious dish, and he was very pleased with choosing this one. - Dry Aged New York Strip Steak: My choice and don't regret the $110 price tag one bit. This is the dish of ingredients sourced from the top kitchen if this was Next Level Chef. The demi-glace was decadent and rich. It paired beautifully with the steak, and loved the potato purée. Always see purées on Next Level Chef, and other cooking shows, so it was great to see one executed to this caliber. It truly complimented the dish and paired nicely with the roasted carrots and snap peas. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this dish if you dine here. - Tiramisu: To end on a sweet note, we were intrigued by table side tiramisu as we've had at a different restaurant where they assembled it entirely at your table. This is just scooped from a tray, so the experience was a little disappointing. The flavor of the tiramisu was very coffee forward, so it was still a hit. - Complimentary Anniversary Gelato (Strawberry Shortcake): This came out with a sparkler and an adorned with a beautiful piece of chocolate that said "Happy Anniversary." Though both of us aren't fond of Strawberry Shortcake, we enjoyed the beauty of this dessert and appreciate the gesture. Shout out to Robert and the other staff who made our anniversary feel extra special. If this was Next Level Chef, they would earn the immunity pin! What a beautiful dining room, exceptional dining experience, and incredible service team. One of my top five dining experiences in the last decade - thank you! The menu claims the pasta is house-made, but it tasted more like boxed pasta than anything freshly made. Worse, nearly every dish lacked flavor. The gnocchi was especially strange, it had the texture and flavor of stale bread, making it one of the oddest gnocchi dishes I've ever eaten. Across the board, the food felt uninspired and poorly executed. Given that Richard Blais' name is attached to this restaurant, I expected much more. Based on this experience, it's hard to believe he had much involvement in developing the menu.
