I haven't been on the ferris wheel for a ride (yet), so this review is only for the beautiful view it provides on the waterfront. Yesterday, it was a gorgeous day in Seattle and I hear its rare to get sunny skies here, but goodness, I got lucky! After a work event, I didnt feel like being cooped up in a hotel room so I took a stroll/jog down by the waterfront which was close to my hotel. The ferris wheel is beautiful and lights up at night and makes for a very beautiful addition to the waterfront. It was really fun to check this ferris wheel out up close and I got some good shots of the ferris wheel up close and from the ferry station closeby. A true treasure of downtown Seattle, worth a visit, even if just to admire from on the ground.
The Great Wheel is the most iconic attraction of the Seattle Pier 57. There's about 42 gondolas. They load up all of them at the same time, each group gets their own. Then the wheel goes around for 3 uninterrupted loops for about 15 minutes. They have a bar before the entrance, but you can get adult drinks only if no kids in the group. They also take pictures which are available for purchase after the ride. We were lucky it was a beautiful sunny day in Seattle the day we took the ride. We bought tickets at the counter. We waited about 10 minutes to get on the gondola. It was clean and glasses were clear. From the peak of the wheel, we were able to see the whole horizon from Mt. Reiner to Mt. Olympia. The pier also had a good view. Overall it was a good activity to do as a couple or with family.
Had a pleasantly good time at the Great Wheel! Came by after happy hour at Elliot's and was walking around the pier. It was $23 a head. Weird admission charge and retail tax came to $26.50 per person. Waited maybe around 10-15 min. Fun souvenir. Print gives you free digital (not outrageously priced). Staff said it would be 3 turns around, but I think we counted it as 4. Wouldn't recommend on a bad weather day if it shakes a lot or visibility isn't great.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up and feast your peepers upon the spinning superstar of the Seattle waterfront the mighty Seattle Great Wheel. Now listen here: when you visit Seattle there are a few commandments carved in Pacific Northwest stone. Thou shalt gaze upon the glorious Space Needle. Thou shalt cheer inside T-Mobile Park. And thou shalt yes thou absolutely shalt ride the big spinning beauty hanging right over the docks like a giant carnival halo over Elliott Bay. Now I'll confess something: the first few times I saw that wheel, I just stood there gawking like a confused seagull eating a French fry. "Nah," I said. "Too touristy." But then one day my wife said, "Get in the gondola." So I did. And let me tell you holy spinning cinnamon biscuits I should've done it years earlier. The wheel lifts you slow and smooth, the city starts shrinking, the water starts sparkling, and suddenly you're floating above the docks like some sort of happy human chandelier. You can sip a drink, relax in your cozy glass cabin, and watch ferries glide by while the skyline of Seattle shows off like it's posing for a magazine cover. Round and round the wheel goes, Up past the seagulls and waterfront shows. The harbor gleams, the skyline sings, While your little glass cabin gently swings. You'll laugh, you'll grin, you might even squeal "Why in the world did I wait to ride this wheel?!" So here's my advice, straight from the waterfront gospel: don't just stand there staring at it like a puzzled pelican. Buy the ticket. Step inside the gondola. Let that giant wheel carry you into the sky. Because sure, the Space Needle may be the king of the skyline... but the Seattle Great Wheel? That's the fun-loving jester of the bay spinning, shining, and proving that sometimes the best way to see a city... is to take it for a ride.
Rode the Seattle Great Wheel and... okay, yes--it's definitely overpriced. No way around that. That said, I'm really glad I did it. It goes around about four times, which gives you plenty of time to take in the views, and they're honestly beautiful. You get such a unique perspective of the water, the city, and everything around you that you just can't replicate from the ground. It's one of those experiences where you kind of wince at the price, but still walk away thinking, "okay... that was worth doing at least once." Would I do it again? Probably not. But am I glad I did it? 100%.
Solid (and scary -- I'm scared of heights!) experience, but definitely overpriced at $23 per person. My boyfriend and I just wanted to go on it for vibes haha. It does shake or rock a bit and you get to go around 3 times. You also get the option to take photos right before heading into the line with a digital option or physical print ($8-$12) for a memorabilia moment. Staff didn't seem intrigued with helping people out at the wheel though. Definitely a one and done activity!
The beautiful view from the Great Wheel was a great experience. It was a bucket list thing I did to celebrate an event. We went at night and seeing the city lights was really cool. It was raining this evening so there was no lines. The price is $23.00 USD plus tax. The ride was about a solid 6- minute or so. I believe we went around 3 revolutions and paused at the highest point to take in the views. Upon entering, you will be offered the opportunity to have a photo taken as a keepsake, I don't know how much it costs for that. Also they have a bar you can purchase adult beverages and probably none adult drinks. This definitely a tourist attraction but at least a once in a lifetime thing for locals like me.
Expensive for like 5-6 turns but it was a cute, get it out the way experience. Would recommend maybe some music or something in the carts but yeah. Try it out.
First night out on the pier and riding the Ferris wheel was on my to-do list so here I was! Riding under the classic Seattle weather, the Ferris wheel provided beautiful views of the water, pier and the city itself. Words do not compare to what I experienced in person--live! Photos don't do justice either. Must experience in person. I rode alone and found myself meditating as I enjoyed the beautiful views. Their summer must be gorgeous out here. This is a must-do and experience it for yourself. I do wish that it was less rainy but hey that's Seattle for you!
It's a-ok. Definitely not a must-do attraction. And certainly overpriced. But the view can be nice (but not great). Underwhelmed is the word that comes to mind. Come with patience as the wait can be long. And the rotation is short. Once we got on, we did get to go around 3 times, which made it seem a little better. There's a bar once you get in line where you can grab an adult beverage. (Note that you cannot take an adult beverage on the wheel if are with anyone who is under 21.) Admittedly, there wasn't a whole lot to see at night. I do feel like this would've been a better experience if we had gone during the day:
Amazing views! It was super warm outside and therefore our capsule was super hot. Air comes off and on a bit but it made for a sweaty experience. Staff couldn't be less engaged - not not friendly but completely asleep at the wheel (pun intended!)
Staff: The team here was really nice. Everyone from the ticket window, to loading, to unloading. Quality: This is something that we wanted to try since the last time in Seattle 2 years ago. The waiting area to load is cool as they have music playing and a bar to enjoy a drink while waiting. The pods were spacious, clean, and provided a great view. Value: I think it is expensive at $120 for 3 people for a 10 minute ride. I'm glad we did it but not sure I would again at the current price. Overall: Cool view, fun experience, but a bit pricey in my opinion.
This is more like 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. The Great Wheel is an iconic part of Seattle, so we had to give it a go. To be honest, it's more spectacular from the outside than it is actually riding on it. The ride was $23 per adult for about 3 revolutions. The line to ride was longer than the ride itself. There was also a lot of stopping during the ride. On the plus side, the ride is very smooth and you do get great views of Seattle. The wheel itself is really cool to look at, especially in the evening when the wheel lights up with various colors. I recommend doing it once just to experience it, but would not need to go again.

Riding the Seattle Great Wheel is one expensive ride ($50 for two). The Ferris wheel takes you on four rotations, and it's a smooth ride, which helps if you're afraid of heights. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, and I went mid-day on a Saturday. The line wasn't too long, and my partner and I decided to purchase alcohol for the ride. He ordered an IPA and I ordered a huckleberry Bellini ($8 per drink). Both came in souvenir cups, and the trick is finishing it before the ride ends. We had a great time capturing pictures from new heights, but this is an attraction you'd only need to experience once. read more

Came here with some friends and that's the only reason I'd do something touristy like this because it's pricey at around $22 or $24 (I can't remember which). Nice views and if you're with friends, it's a nice, fun way to take in some of the scenery. The line moves pretty quickly and even though you get just three rotations, it lasts a while because of the loading and off loading. The wheel moves slowly and usually I don't like rides that are suspended in the air, but the slowness of the rotation helped me to relax. Each car has two benches, so one faces the water, the other the city and both offer nice views. If you want to see both sides, but trade seats so you get a chance to shoot both views. We went on a clear day with some clouds a little after sunset and it was still pretty. read more

Fun experience, but would recommend getting there at less busy times, line prolly get very long. Also way too expensive for an 8 minute ride. If you have never rode a ferris wheel before, like me, it's pretty cool. Don't ride if you're completely terrified of heights, but it's fine if you are just a little terrified. I would not recommend this though because of the price. read more
This is something that you sort of need to do when you're visiting a city and they have a "great wheel." It does provide a wonderful view of downtown and the bay and is not too high, i.e. it's not scary at all but is a very smooth ride. read more

First time coming to Seattle so of course I wanted to do the Great Wheel! It's $20 per person for adults and they have a bar so you can bring a drink on the wheel with you but you have to finish it before coming off the wheel. You get to go around three times and the views are so pretty. I thought it was nice and worth it! read more

I have been to Seattle many times and always admired The Seattle Great Wheel from afar. So when we planned another trip back to the Pacific Northwest, we made it a point to check it out. The line wasn't long and the weather was ideal for the day! The Great Wheel is located at the waterfront of Elliot Bay, just behind the iconic Pikes Place Market. There was a lot of construction when we were there so you had to work your way through the construction zone to get to the booth. The cost to ride The Great Wheel wasn't bad at all, considering how comfortable the ride was and how long you'd be on it. We paid $18 per person for a view of the bay! Not bad at all! As we walked down the path to The Great Wheel, we were in awe as to how big it was. Each car is equipped with bench seats that can accommodate 4 people. Each car on the Ferris wheel is enclosed in heavy duty glass/plastic allowing for a clear view for the duration of your ride. Also, what I really liked was that they had ac blowing on you from time to time and that there was a small opening on top. This ensured that fresh air was always flowing through! As the ferris wheel began its rotation, we noticed how smooth the ride was. The cars were stable, not swaying or giving any feeling of instability. The blue, clear skies made visibility ideal as we could see The Space Needle, Mount Rainier, and the skyline of Seattle. The sun reflected off of the ocean as boats cruised by. You could even catch a whiff of the ocean as a light breeze flowed through. Some people wonder if $18 is a lot for a ride on The Great Wheel. It was absolutely worth it because we made 4 rotations around the wheel and it was quite relaxing. The ride was slow enough for people to snap beautiful photos. It was just perfect all the way round! If you're in Seattle for business or pleasure, don't hesitate to go for a ride on The Great Wheel. As long as the weather is ideal, your ride should be enjoyable! We definitely want to go back for an evening ride on the ferris wheel because the city is so pretty at night. read more
Cool activity to do if you want to kill some time. Tickets are $20 per adult. The ride is pretty short so I think it's a bit overpriced but totally worth it if you're visiting and want to catch some views. There's also a bar at the bottom of the wheel where you can purchase drinks. read more
Decent views, but only 4 slow trips around the wheel. Touristy, which makes us want to do it! Did it near sunset, so it was a nice time of day to see the suns reflection off the water and the buildings downtown. read more

Great experience! Why the five star rating for such a common tourist attraction? Here are a few reasons. 1) Risers are allowed to bring drinks aboard if purchased at the Seattle Great Wheel's bar located near the line. Drinks can be ordered while waiting in line and without loosing your place. Most Ferris Wheel attractions DO NOT allow drinks aboard (when comparing to specifically the one in Santa Monica, CA, and Chicago, IL). 2) The attraction was generally much cleaner and operated by friendlier staff. 3) Tickets were easy to purchase in person. Other things to know... there are NO Ferris Wheel cabins with clear floors, there is a total of 4 rotations, and the cabin has a table fixed within and perfect for 4 average sized passengers. More than 4 will get a bit cramped. Moreover, tickets are NOT available through CityPass purchases. Around the area, there are many picture opportunities of the Wheel when walking around the city. read more

Definitely a tourist attraction. It could be worth the price tag If you are into capturing touristy moments. I might want to invest in a boat ride instead. GLOWS: -There is a bar to get a drink before boarding the wheel. -Photo ops for purchase with various backgrounds to choose. I Didnt care for any of my pictures. GROWS: There was so much construction going on in the area, the view from the top wasn't that great. It's touristy but whatever. I'm a tourist. The views are very nice and the ride was super smooth. We got five revolutions and the entire ride probably lasted 15 min. It was very relaxing and I wouldn't have minded staying on longer. The line can be long. We probably waited about 20-25 minutes. The capsule is fairly small but it was nice inside and felt clean and secure. I've been on a few other wheels like this (I'm looking at you, Orlando) which weren't quite as nice. It's something to do once. I was happy with our experience. read more
Pretty fun little wheel. I'll call it little, because I am from Las Vegas. Still, real neat to go over the water like they do. The cabins are very small, only enough to comfortably seat four adults. Your average height adult cannot stand up in the cabin. It was nice and cool outside, but the sun was beating through the cabin with no air conditioning, so it got pretty hot. There are some tiny windows at the top that say open for emergency ventilation. So, I did, even though I didn't feel it was an emergency, I merely wanted to be comfortable. However, even with those vents open, it still got kind of warm in there. I'm talking about mid-April! I can't even imagine how it is during the summer. I don't think I would want to try. read more
We love the Great Wheel. We've been a few times, and every time is fun! The lights looked like they were malfunctioning before summer 2023, but they fixed them just in time for the holidays and until now. Ngl, I was scared to go up the first time since heights are a little scary for me, but after a few trips, I'm used to it. The attendants seem very young, but they're doing a great job! This last time, we had a few drinks at their bar stand and were able to take some beers to go in their collectible cups, it was a nice touch! I highly recommend going in a group, it's so fun! Will be back for date night next time. read more
I had such a fun time at the great wheel. My friend and I came to Seattle for the weekend and immediately did this once we got into the city. It's 20$ per person which is a bit overpriced but it's a fun experience. Definitely a tourist trap but so cute for couples or families with little kids. We were anticipating a line but when we got there we barely had to wait. I would estimate the whole ride was maybe 15 minutes. Great ocean/city views but skip if you're looking to save money or have limited time and need to prioritize other attractions during your trip. read more
I wanted to go on the great wheel when I visited Seattle. I am in a mobility scooter and didn't think I would be able to. These guys treated me so good. They took the time to get me onto the Wheel. They had a little ramp that allowed me to ride my scooter right into the the compartment. It was amazing! Super enjoyed the sunset during our ride. I had a great time. read more

Get your tickets on the website it's faster and easier Here is the Sight: tickets.minerslanding.com The line is long to purchase the tickets You can purchase drinks or head right in and wait in line. The drinks are pricy for a can of Cutwater, you get it in a nice cup though. Husband got a virgin slushy since he doesn't drink. They check ID's even if you don't drink. Both our drinks were $25 We waited in line for about 5 mins and the employees were friendly. We stopped a couple times but it kept going afterwards without interruption. Totally recommend if you are playing tourist and want to see the views read more

I went on this ride during the day time and had a great view of the city. However I do believe this attraction is a lot better if you go during the night time since you can see the city lights. I do recommend it. read more
This was so cute, my bff and I decided to randomly come on a rainy Friday and it was so much fun . We had a drink before the ride . It was nice scenery even with all the construction and rain . I wish it had music though we had to blast our own classic of "back that azz up" for $18pp it was def a cute experience we even took a cute couples photo ahaha read more
It's a ferris wheel... Night time was cool and probably not so scary for people scared of heights. There is a heater inside so you don't freeze in this weather we get here. Not sure how it is in the rain. We had 6 people with us and it was a pretty snug fit. Maybe one day in the summer time we can convince these people scared of heights to go. read more
A beautiful way to see the city and the water. I've been on the wheel in the daytime and at night and enjoyed both trips immensely. The line was expectedly longer for the daytime ride in the summer, but moves at nice pace as many folx can get on the wheel at the same time. You get to go around a few times, definitely long enough to appreciate the view and spend a little qt with your special someone. read more
We got off our cruise ship and needed to kill a few hours before our flight, so this was one of the things that we did. The nice thing is you can buy tickets but they are good for a year, so you don't have to use them right away. This is fairly close to Pike Place Market (a little under 10 min walk), so we were able to buy the tickets, go do a couple things at Pike Place, and then head back here to catch a ride. There was a crowd but it was only a 10 minute wait to get on, so it wasn't bad. They do let you drink in line and on the cart, but the beers are $12 (yikes) and you have to finish it once you leave the pod. So, it might not be worth it. They were fine with regular non-alcoholic beverages, so no worries if you got your water bottle handy like me! The ride itself is cool. We got a pod by ourselves (just me and my husband) so we were able to see the city and the water by switching sides. We could even see our cruise ship that hadn't left yet for the next crowd, so that was pretty cool. You go around 3 times and the ride takes about 10 minutes. Since I live in Vegas, it's hard not to compare this to High Roller, which costs slightly more, but is longer. I think this worked well for our limited schedule, and you can see quite a bit. I feel like the High Roller is a little more of an experience, and you can do it at night. So I think it depends on how much time you need to kill. The weather was pretty nice in Seattle when we rode the wheel, but I wouldn't recommend it if the weather is crappy. read more

Seattles Great Wheel, a must on your to do list. I went with my bestie at night so we can see the great view of Seattle. The wheel goes around 3-4 times. The ticket prices are $19 for general. But, they also offer the Vip experience with a table for a little more. Definately fun experience. Would highly recommend! read more
OK, so there is literally nothing 'wrong' with this attraction, but for me it wasn't exactly what I expected. Stand in one line to buy tickets. Then stand in a separate line to get into the enclosed car. They play upbeat music to get you in a fun mood while waiting your turn. We took the ride with a person who does not in any way like heights. They had decided, in the company of persons they trust, to face their fear and plunge in. Good golly. The fear was real, and honestly, I was putting on a happy face to try to keep them calm 'cause I did not really like this ride and I have been on plenty of these wheels before. It's very similar to a standard carnival Ferris wheel only in an enclosed car. Seattle, is quite windy right there on the waterfront. While the car is moving around the circuit, you don't really notice the car is rocking too much, but once the wheel stops to load/unload, it rocks in the wind. That. Sucks. There *is* an emergency button you can push to get off the ride so if you are not sure this is for you, they do give you an out which is very reassuring. The views from the top are pretty good. The seats are OK. For a fee they have a car with super comfy high back seating. Maybe that car would feel safer? We went around three full turns before they began to unload at the three and half turn point. This is where we got to 'enjoy' the rocking in the wind. (I was just hoping we would be getting off soon and tried to be chill) I was so happy to get off this ride. It just did not give me a sense of well being, but that's just me. It was different than the other similar experience I have been on. Not as 'sturdy'. While it was moving around it was fine. You can still feel the wind pushing on the cars, but when it stopped to unload. . . I was not a fan of the wind rocking the car. Maybe choose a calm day if you are unsure. I'm here to tell the tale, so it's all good. read more
I'm a huge sucker for Ferris wheels. As soon as I knew I was going to Seattle, I bugged my best friend incessantly about doing this. It only got worse upon arrival when I saw the Great Wheel from his window. He lives ridiculously close to it and somehow had never been! Anyway, on my first day there, you better believe we went to the Great Wheel. I mean, how could we not? We were already nearby at the Seattle Aquarium and it was right there. Now I have no idea how this is typically during the evenings or even the weekend as we went on a Wednesday afternoon, but there really was no wait. A bit pricey, but this was so worth it. The views are incredible. You see the Space Needle, of course, but more so you see the pier, all the people, and the water. In typical tourist fashion, they took a photo of us that we got to see. We ended up not purchasing it, but we took plenty of photos at the top of the wheel. This was very memorable for us, and quite frankly, I felt like a little girl again, oohing and ahhing at the world. So happy to have done it with a loved one and even happier we got to do the loop three times! read more
One of the most touristy things in Seattle. I won't go as far as to say it's overrated but manage your expectations. I visited and checked the box, though better options indeed exist. It's a giant Ferris wheel with water, waterfront, and city views. You go around two times (maybe three?) and then once more with stops to let out other passengers, and eventually you. ~ The view is good but doesn't hold a candle to the Space Needle. There are other observatories also that I'm confident have better vistas. read more

Tourist alert!! I knew in my head that I was paying way to much to ride a ferris wheel ($17) but I guess you gotta do this as a tourist for the first time in Seattle. I don't regret it because it was nice and warm inside the ride. (Seattle was EXTREMELY cold) If you time it JUST right, you get to watch the sunset over the water and see the beautiful skyline. I went on around 430pm, looped around 4 times, and had a beautiful view of the surrounding area/sunset. read more

We went on the Seattle Great Wheel after going to the aquarium since they are right next to each other. You buy tickets at a little booth and for adults it is $16 each person. You then get into another line to get onto the wheel itself. The workers are not the friendliest & one lady actually yelled at me because I was going the opposite direction of the line entrance (but we were not ready to go on the wheel yet, so she kind of needed to chill lol). The wheel itself went around 3 times & you do stop around the top to let the others get out their car. The views were nice and recommend if you're not afraid of heights or want to just see the views. read more

On friday and saturday nights, what time is the last ride?
last ride for friday and saturday nights will be 9:45pm:)
Someone told me they watch the ride for an hour and only saw loading and unloading they never saw the ride actually make a complete circle for the riders just the one time around while loading/unloading, is this accurate?
That isn't accurate. I went 2 weeks ago and got 4 uninterrupted rotations before they stopped to load/unload.
Do you have to be vaccinated and or need a mask in March 2022 while visiting the great wheel in Seattle?
I'm not sure how tasty masks are 🤣, but, you don't have to wear a mask now unless you're in a federally mandated space like an airport or plane, or a medical facility.
Can you bring your own food for the ride?
It's just a large Ferris Wheel type of ride. It doesn't last very long. I believe you can take food on it because they didn't search our bags, but there's no real easy way to eat it, or need to since it's a short ride.
