There is a max of 4 people per car. I was skeptical about getting on this because I have a fear of heights and I get motion sickness but the ride is so smooth that I actually really enjoyed myself. It gets dark fast. In the summer I would say 6-7 ish. It's just a different ride when you see the sky change and the city light up. The ride itself goes around about 3 times at a good speed so you don't get motion sick. Even if you are afraid of heights, you'll be fine. Sure, it's a nice ferris wheel with a good view but seriously overpriced. I went in the morning during the week so the line and wait weren't bad. Two people will run you well over $30 with the taxes (Even a $3 admission charge on top of the tax?). You'll probably be on it for about 10-15 minutes so that comes out to be $1-2 per minute for each person, and you're not moving half the time. Up to you to decide whether it's worth the price. Bring your masks and no need to show vax proof. (As of November 2021) We got our tickets online so we skipped the tickets line and went straight to the wheel. They open at 11am and the line was SO short, we almost had it for ourselves. As a souvenir they take a picture of you and your party available to purchase at the end of the ride. We got our own gondola with fantastic views of seattle skyscrapers, the needle, my Rainier, the ferries, west seattle and a few islands. The gondolas have AC for hot days and heat for chilly days. We even took our jackets off (47°F outside) There's also a table in case you purchase any booze or chips CHEERS!!! They'll give you 3 or 4 laps to enjoy the view. The Seattle Great Wheel put a bow on your weekend with offering a safe way to enjoy the views with my family. The customer service rendered was fantastic, I greatly appreciate how courteous all the attendants were. Save yourself some time from waiting in the entry line by purchasing your tickets ahead of time (I purchased ours 30 mins prior to arrival.) Each pod was sanitized prior to entering the pod, each pod will hold up to 4 guests within the same household, and the AC will make your ride experience very comfortable. We happily went around at least 4 times, and had plenty of opportunities to take as many pictures as we desired. This was a great experience, and if you're in the area on a day filled with sunshine I highly recommend taking it all in on The Seattle Great Wheel!!! read more

If you're in the area, may as well grab a ticket and enjoy the views. I was able to visit around noon and the wait was only about 20 minutes. It was a nice day with clear skies so I grabbed a drink from their mini bar at the beginning of their line and happily waited (the drink was made well - sip slow, trust me). I went here on a Thursday night earlier this month around 9:30pm to have a ride on the wheel and get a nighttime view of Seattle. There was a short line, so it was about a 10 minute wait and each group gets their own pod. The tickets were $16 per adult. When it was my turn, I liked how there's a table in the middle of the pod and there's a red emergency button to use in an emergency on the ceiling of the pod. This pod also felt safe to sit in since it wasn't wobbly like other ferris wheels I've been on. This wheel also goes around 3 times, but I kind of wish it went around more. I'd recommend this place! This wheel was a nice experience when I was visiting Seattle, but maybe next time I'd want to try the daytime view since I haven't rode this during the day yet. Also, apparently people are allowed to eat and drink inside the pod because of the table, so next time I might try that too. read more

Walked by one evening and decided to jump on the wheel. There wasn't much of a line, so we bought a couple tickets and waited about 10 minutes before we were let on. It's fully enclosed and had vents on each side that could be opened or closed. Also had an emergency button in case something went wrong. Takes a few minutes to load everyone up (a lot faster than i expected - they can load 6 sections at a time). The ride itself lasts about 10 minutes, didn't go too fast, so don't be worried. I wanna warn people about the Seattle Great Wheel. My cousin works there and has had to deal with bed bugs from the job and on top of that they also have roaches and rats. This isn't just uncomfortable for employees, customers are walking into it too. It's honestly gross and unsafe. Thought it would be one of those only tourist thing to do, and it probably is a one time thing for me, but wow, the view in this thing during sunset is phenomenal since it overlooks the water. It also is in a very secured pod that is air conditioned during summer. God, I love having weekdays off, lines are nonexistent so no need to share a pod with random people. There is a photographer prior to getting on and the photos are ready by the time you come back down, of course they will try to upsell with you souvenir photos. Having been in the area for 10 years, I never got around to sitting in the Ferris wheel until now. You can purchase tickets online on their website ($17 per person, kids under 3 are free) and the great thing is, they're valid for a year, so you can buy them in advance even if you don't plan to visit it that day. It also saves time waiting in line to buy the tickets in person. There was a bit of wait to get on the ride, but there's a small bar if you wanted to purchase some drinks (of course with touristy prices) and there's music playing to keep you entertained. The views are great, and you go around at least 3 times. In our case, we went around at least 5-6 times. Go on a clear day during sunset and you can see Mount Rainier in all its glory. The cabins itself are comfortable, have cool air blasting and my 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter was enjoying the ride. The ride is slow enough and not at all scary, the cabins swing back and forth a little bit while loading, but nothing crazy. That being said, it was a clear day with no wind, so YMMV. read more

Even though it was a little rainy, there was still a great view! The lines were shorter because of the weather. There's a little bar after you buy your tickets. The cocktails are overpriced and from a can, but are served in cute little plastic adult "sippy cups". It was a good bribe to get my hubby to ride. I had the pleasure of helping my cousin and his wife plan a Gender Reveal trip to Seattle. We were thinking of ideas of how to do it and were pleasantly surprised that the Great Wheel does light shows! It was about 3-5 minutes of alternating blue/pink until the reveal finally happened! Been there, done that. The Seattle Great Wheel is hard to miss on the downtown waterfront and is usually on people's list of things to do in Seattle. It is part of the larger complex on the pier with other restaurants and activities making it more of a destination experience which does help as the wheel itself is just a large Ferris wheel. Parking is not available on site, so you will need to walk or get a ride. The wheel is pricy and does require waiting in a line that is usually longer than the ride. The wheel is very large, so loading and unloading passengers takes a long time. You will be stuck stationary for about half the time. Once everyone is loaded, the wheel rotates a few times at a slow speed then repeats the unloading process. It is perpendicular to the city, so facing one way will only see the city, and facing the other way will only see the water. Before you board, they do have a bar and photo booth. You can take their drinks on the wheel if you wish. My ride was at night with a clear sky which was rather impressive, but the scenery does not change much. This would be pretty fun on a clear day, but the lines may be horrible! The wheel is a nice option, but it is pricy costing a family nearly $100. As mentioned in other reviews, there are better options for getting views of Seattle. You can also appreciate the wheel from the pier without boarding. But it is kinda fun and a unique experience, once. read more

This one was nicely placed at the pier's edge, so you get the ocean to your front and the city to your back. Several good photo opportunities and was a nice thing to do while walking in this area. Adult tickets are $15 and youth tickets are $10. Per person isn't so bad if it just you and one other person, but when you've already seen all of the other sights in Seattle, this one fell short. The wait line for tickets was about 15 minutes, followed by another 20 or so to get on the wheel. Once on the wheel, it is air conditioned and the seats are very comfortable. The view is pretty once the wheel begins going, but it is over before you know it. This would be great for a first date or a couple traveling here to experience Seattle, but for a family with kids, it just doesn't seem worth the price for the length of time that you are actually on the wheel. read more

This has become an iconic Seattle attraction on the waterfront. With relatives visiting from Florida, we decided to give it a whirl. Even though it was a week end, the wait was not too bad. Our party of 7 was able to fit in one pod and around we went 3 times. However, no one was bowled over by the view etc. It seemed anti-climatic, honestly. In the last week, all I can think is that the wheel is oriented the wrong way and should have been built 90 degrees different from the orientation. Spur of the moment trip last night and it was awesome! This is a tourist attraction but as a local, it was fun to go to for great views. We opted in for the VIP tickets and they were well worth it. I LOVE ferris wheels and this is the best view I've ever had in one. Both times. I'm telling you I'm born and bred in WA and I've paid to go on it twice, it's so lovely. I don't know if it ever gets crowded but it wasn't either time I've gone on weekend evenings in June. I highly recommend going at night to see the lights bouncing off the water. I love to play up and down the shops and have a go on the carousel before, just for good measure. The gondolas are comfortable and big enough for a good sized human to still stretch out, and they are safe and cozy. You go around a fair amount of times and the young attendants have always been super friendly. Is it cliche touristy? Yes. Should you do it? Absolutely yes. Because if you don't, every time you see pictures of the ferris wheel all lit up under the sky line you'll have a little regret you didn't give it a go. read more
