Apparently I like Middle Eastern food... I didn't Yelp this place before choosing to eat here, but it looks like everyone is in agreement: The Sheikh is the s**t. I got the chicken shwarma, and it came with rice, bread (sorry, I don't know the official terminology, it was flatter than pita), lentil soup, and GARLIC SAUCE. I swooned over this garlicy goodness, and will probably stop at The Sheikh just to order some garlic sauce, it is so good. I am very excited to finally find a restaurant in Canton that I like; right around the corner from my house! And the prices are phenomenal. I got takeout, so I can't comment on the service, but everything was fresh, fast, and tasty. I will definitely be going back (probably tomorrow). read more

Good find in yet another Canton strip mall. We had very good service and enjoyed the food. Veggie combo plate was all tasty and a lot of food. Our waiter was a big fan of the deboned chicken, so we tried it and liked it as well- interesting sauce. The Sheikh restaurant is an awesome little casual middle eastern diner, tucked back in a plaza off ford road. Overall spices, flavorfulness and value are a step up from La Sharm, and though the menu is a bit smaller than the aforementioned, everything on offer is absolutely delicious. The Sheikh's one negative is the pita - it is likely not made in the place, and thus has a slightly 'grocery store' feel to it... a shame, because if they were able to offer fresh pita like la sharm does this would easily be a 5 star restaurant. read more

This is an oasis of delicious food and superior service in an otherwise very mundane shopping center. Hands down, the service here is phenomenal! And then there's the food! So good! We visited on a cold night (it's Michigan!) and I started with the lentil soup to warm up. It was an excellent choice. The flavors were incredible! My taste buds were revved up and ready for my entree. Our server also brought a complimentary basket of small rolls which were wonderfully soft on the inside and just the right golden baked firmness on the outside. (Tip: take one home and have the next day for breakfast with honey and butter) For our main course, We ordered shish kabob and shish kafta and were very pleased with our choices. Both were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We left The Sheikh very satisfied. We dined in but many, many people came in to pick up carry out orders while we were there. My one negative comment would be that a "fine" dining establishment might consider a more space between the pickup counter and dine-in patrons. read more

Not a place I'd recommend because they have the same quality food other places but this place is one of the most expensive. My daughter and I had dinner here on our last day of our vacation. Our beautiful server was so sweet! I love the family atmosphere. We started with a huge basket of pita bread and hummus. The pita was soft and warm. The hummus was delicious with a light hint of tahini. Our salads were crisp with a nice vinaigrette. I had the deboned chicken. It was flattened and perfectly grilled. My daughter had the lamb schwarma. The lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned. I wished that we had room for dessert. Instead we will have a delicious breakfast before our flight. read more

The one thing I love about this restaurant are their lunch specials. They have sandwiches and lunch plates for very reasonable prices. The lunch plates include soup or salad too. All of their soups are very good and they have different selections each day. I also enjoy their smoothies and the fruit cocktail smoothie is the best! My husband and I went to The Sheikh Restaurant, as we love Mediterranean cuisine. Former Dearborn residents we enjoyed all of the local Greek, Lebanese and Arabic restaurants. We chose this place for the good reviews. We went on a Friday night. Restaurant is very clean. Nice interior with tables and booths. Waitresses spray the tables and sweep the floors after guests have left. Our waitress was attentive. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma dinner, came with either soup or salad and a side of French fries or rice. He chose salad and fries. Dinner salad was huge and very tasty house dressing. The chicken shawarma was a huge disappointment- just didn't taste right. I ordered the Shish Tarwook with rice and salad - rice was good with toasted almonds - another disappointment with the chicken it had a good flavor but was very Dry. The hummus appetizer was perfect- the pitas were little clouds of delight, hummus creamy & smooth. The tab with 2 fountain drinks was $44. Don't think we'll be back. This restaurant was near where I used to work, so it was my go-to healthy take out place on my way home. I stopped in last night for the first time in months and had an excellent experience as always. The manager recognized me and was so friendly asking where I've been and what have I been up to. The food quality is always very good, everything is so fresh. The prices have gone up in the last few months, but only on some side orders that I always thought were under-priced, like their yummy rice pilaf. Portions are large. My favorite things to order are any of their wraps (mojadara, tawook, kafta, spicy sausage, falafel, etc) -they are huge, filling and always tasty. The babaganoush is addicting - it comes in a huge to-go container with hot fresh bread that I think can easily feed four people. And as I mentioned the rice pilaf is wonderful - I love the crunchy toasted almonds and parsley on top. All in all, it makes a wonderful inexpensive dinner for my husband and I with leftovers the next day. read more

Stopped for dinner based solely on Yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. My wife's kabob was done perfectly (medium rare) and quite tender. Delicious. My (spicy) sausage pita was full of flavor with a great mix of mild spices. The tomatoes, pickles, onions and sauce are the perfect compliment. Our server, Rami, was especially good; friendly without being too much so and just attentive enough as to not be overbearing. 4/5 only because my lentil soup (again, quite good) should have been a little hotter. read more

I love this place. Always consistently delicious. Their hot pita bread and garlic are to die for, and the Chicken Lemon Oregano Tawook dinner is flavorful and juicy. Rice is always perfectly cooked and delicious, and the shawarma is tasty with a generous portion size. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! They also cater to allergies - I am allergic to dairy and soy and they've gone over all their ingredients with me to make sure what I'm ordering is safe. The Sheikh has become one of our family favorite restaurants. Hard to believe they're celebrating their fifth anniversary. We remember the first week they opened! From the shawarma to the shish tawook to the deboned chicken to our new favorite, stuffed lamb with homemade yogurt sauce, you'll always find well-prepared, delicious Middle Eastern food. If you come here for dinner, be prepared to take home some leftovers. The portions are big! My husband, son and myself tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly staff member. Our waitress was very nice and the service was great. We have eaten at a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants and some were good, some bad. This restaurant was excellant. The prices were very resonable and the servings were huge. Before we left the owner came over to our table and greeted us, asked us how things were and told us about the restaurant. He was very welcoming. I haven't seen this in many restaurants. You get a wide variety of middle eastern cuisine, pita, hummus and we usually get the fatoush salad (instead of the french fries.) Staff is always very friendly. Not bad but have had better. I had asked for medium for my meat and when I got home it was well done. If you do not ask for salad dressing on the side they pour it all over the salad and if you have a carry out it is all over everything by the time you get it home. I told them about it the next time I went in and all I got was you have to ask if you want it on the side. Not how can we make it up to you or can we give you an extra salad or anything. Also i have found some of the girls are VERY rude and cold to customers but the guys seem ok. Must say the rice was very good and have only had it as good or better at one place before but that place is not as good as it use to be either..so no names. read more

Having lived in Dearborn for twenty years, I'd like to think I know a good Middle Eastern restaurant, and The Sheikh in Canton is a pretty good one, for sure. Their beef kabobs are incredible (marinated, juicy, tender), as is their shawarma and hummus. Big portions (we get two meals out of one order) and always-friendly service. Might be difficult to find off Ford Road, but worth finding it (just past and back behind McDonald's!) and trying it out. read more

This restaurant used to maintain good quality of their food. The boneless grilled chicken was our favorite. But last weekend, when we ordered this chicken, it was burnt and was horrible. And to our shock, they wouldn't replace it and suggested that it is not burnt because poultry has to be well cooked. Yeah right, like we were having this dish for the first time!! My guess is either - their chef has changed OR they served us leftover chicken, so that when it was recooked, it got burnt. I will rather go to LaSharm on the next street next time. read more

The Sheikh has become our go to place for Middle Eastern in Canton. In fact, there is no reason to go anywhere else in the area. We like to eat in the restaurant just because the staff is so nice to deal with. Sometimes we order carry out though, and it is well packaged and ready in a reasonable time. The Hummus is delicious and they serve good bread with it. I like the shish kafta as it's very tasty and filling. For a real celebration order the Sheikh platter. I stopped in for the first time yesterday, and ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, curly fries, and hummus. I remember thinking; "why does it cost so much for a side of hummus?" I love Middle Eastern food and have eaten in many places including 5 or 6 different places in Dearborn. I have to say that this is the best out of all by a LONG shot. With similar meals, i.e. the deboned chicken as a comparison, I noticed a HUGE difference over even my favorite place in Dearborn. I could tell the difference just LOOKING at the meal. The chicken was phenomenal and very moist with a buttery, garlicky juiciness that I haven't experienced elsewhere. The almond rice pilaf was pretty standard but I only say that because most Middle Eastern places have really good rice. I loved it as usual:) I got a side of hummous which I can't go without and it was perfect. Thick and smooth and coated with paprika and parsley. Lastly, the bread was fresh and hot and very tasty. The food was inexpensive as well, as the meal I had could have easily fed two or even three and only cost $10.50. Needless to say I have leftovers. The setting wasn't upscale by any means (it's in a strip mall) but I thought the decor was very clean and tasteful. Nice colors and no mismatched furniture. All in all, I liked the meal so much I couldn't help raving about it to my waiter and as a thank you for being a first time customer I got a free Baklava dessert!
