Another Great meal at Sherwood. This was "300" chicken wrap and sweet potato fries.

Who went to Sherwood for dinner and as always the service was amazing. It always feels like walking into a friend's house when I go there. We sat at a booth instead of at my favorite bar seat this time. I got the "once upon a Time in Mexico' with a side of broccoli. It was delicious and just the right amount of heat.

So nice to show up with a party of 15 & be greeted w/a smile. The menu is expansive, reasonable prices & we have had Paul as our server the last few visits; he is friendly & efficient, so hard to do w/a large group. This visit I ordered the Chefs special which was Chicken & spinach lasagna, it was delicious! It comes with a side salad which is always fresh. This truly is a great neighborhood restaurant!

I'm a regular here and service is usually really great. Menu has plenty of options available. What's even better is, they also offer a gluten free menu. This definitely puts it on my top list of local gluten free menu restaurants that support this option. My kids suffers from celiac and this definitely a plus for us. Just love coming here. Very family friendly and not too loud. A must if ever in Winston Salem.

So, I have heard about this place before, but never stopped by. It was my GF's birthday and she was wanting Asian food, but Mizu happened to be closed, and this place is a stone's throw from Mizu, in fact it is in the same shopping center as Mizu. We did have to end up waiting 10-15 mins for a table, but they were very busy, and they were working hard to get lots of people sat down and served, so no worries here, they were efficient and orderly. While I am sorry that my girlfriend did not get the Asian she wanted on her birthday, we are all glad that was stopped at The Sherwood, the food was incredible, the service was good, and the atmosphere was nice, and for 3 people, all with sweet tea of a soda to drink, got out of there for under $60 (not including tip). I got the chicken fried steak, my partner got the Rueben, and my mother got the hamburger steak, she does not even really care for mushrooms, but she was eating those up as she consumed her poor man's steak. I am also excited that this joint is fairly local and close to me! It was elevated comfort food, and everyone loves that, and I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu out!

We visited on a Monday evening and were immediately given a table. The place was decorated like a typical restaurant but was very clean. Our waitress immediately got our drink orders and offered us bread service. The bread was delicious. I opted to have the Monday special of Chicken Parm and a salad and was not disappointed. The chicken was crispy and the Alfredo sauce was very good. All in all a great experience and I will be back!

Bottom line: The Sherwood restaurant gave a solid 3.5 star visit but not feeling 4 for this time. Mixed service experience, but ended on a positive. The Comfort Fried Steak did the trick for a diner/family restaurant entree, it was good but not exceptional, and the sides seem a bit different to me. With such a diverse menu, I would probably pick another item to experience in any future visits. The Deets: I had a chance to try The Sherwood restaurant in Sherwood Plaza shopping center with my family which had tried it recently themselves. Hitting them mid to late afternoon during midweek, we were actually the only table being served then. Inside is a nice elevated diner/family restaurant atmosphere with a bar/TV area towards the back of the seating area. Once seated, we were given menus and drink orders were taken. The staff member at this point gave adequate service but did not appear to be overly enthusiastic to have us at the restaurant. Our orders were taken and placed into the kitchen, in which I had decided to go with the Comfort Fried Steak served "over mashed potatoes and topped with a bacon gravy and served with one side" as the menu describes, with the side chosen as creamed corn. This dish when brought out looked a nice portion and had a good country fried steak with gravy flavor. The majority of the dish was a huge portion of mashed potatoes under the fried steak, which had left skin/peel left in. The mashed potatoes were pretty solid in texture and not as whipped smooth, plus the sheer amount was a bit much to tackle after a pretty generous fried steak with gravy serving. The texture of the creamed corn was not like I had before, as all corn kernels seem to be mashed/busted (?blended?) but tasted OK. My meal here cured the midday hunger but I think I might try one of the burgers or other entree choices on any return visits in the future. The young gentleman (different than the staff member we started with) that brought out our meals and kept our drinks topped was very positive and helpful, it was very appreciated. In all, I feel like this visit was a 3.5 star one and hoping to try more of their variety of selections from the menu in other visits.

I never knew this restaurant was here until a friend suggested it. I hate that I've missed it all these years. I had the Maui Lucas. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The teriyaki sauce was light and served in just the right proportion. The pineapple salsa was outstanding. The rice and asparagus were fantastic. This was the best restaurant meal I've had in a long time. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was that of an upscale deli. The rest of the menu looked good. I can't wait to go back and try something else. Do yourself a favor and try The Sherwood.

I don't know what they've done differently but keep doing it. The last time I tried The Sherwood it was not very notable. The food was just OK and our service was not great. We pretty much wrote off this place. But, after a late evening grocery run in the same shopping center we were starving and decided to try again and I'm so happy we did! The Sherwood is a casual bar and grill inside of a strip center. It has a nice size dining room and some outdoor seating too. It would definitely accommodate large parties if needed. Our server was super sweet! She was so friendly and attentive during our whole meal. I ordered the Ground Beef Steak with a side salad and onion rings. My husband got the blackened flounder with a side salad and asparagus. Our food came out quickly right after we finished our salads. My hamburger steak was cooked perfectly medium just as I asked and was juicy and tender. It had that great charred flavor too that I love. My onion rings were thin, crispy and fresh from the fryer. Everything was delicious! The Sherwood has definitely redeemed itself in my book and I'll be back for more.

Had a Christmas Dinner here tonight. Enjoyed myself in conversation so much that I almost did not take pictures. I love coming here especially after they sort of merged with the cooking staff from Oso Eats. The menu changed and got even better. They have options for everyone, from salads & wraps, to burgers & Main Chef dishes. I love their Pecan Chicken as well as the Madeira Chicken with mushrooms. However today I cheated on my diet and went with the Country Fried steak. It is a well coated and fried steak that does not need much else. It sits on some creamy mashed potatoes and topped off with a bacon gravy that's not too watery or too thick. It is the right consistency and they don't smother it, it's just enough so that you can enjoy the actual steak. You get your Choice of side, I went with asparagus so I could convince myself that I was eating healthy. They also have a great selection of desserts. I got a slice of carrot cake that looked like it was on steroids, definitely it good for my diet. I I g was great, cake was a tad dry and I could have used more nuts in.it, my preference. My buddy got the Buckey which looked amazing and was probably about a million calories. He loved it and I trust his word. The ambience is casual family style with plenty of seating. There is also a bar towards the rear with a few TVs to catch sports. I love coming here and have loved everything I have ever ordered. It's a strip mall so plenty of parking. Staff is always on point with taking g orders and getting them right, drinks filled and all with a smile. Love this family restaurant with reasonable prices. They also have two rooms that can be reserved for small parties.

Go to place for when I want a Veggie Roll or Salmon meal. Love the decor and ambiance here! It feels comfortable and spacious. They have the outdoor seating when fair weather permits, a kids place for games and fun, as well as a private room for bigger, private celebrations! The service no matter who is on the floor is always friendly and attentive. I've never had an uncomfortable experience here! Love the variation in side dishes hot/cold options and the bar seating area towards the back to enjoy a drink or two. I'm a regular so this is one of favorite spots in Winston-Salem!

Club Sandwich, big but poorly put together, lacks real flavor.

This is another restaurant that I've visited several times but have not updated my review. This for me is a CBNC spot - Close But No Cigar. It is one of those inexplicable places were everything looks good at first - ambiance, food, service - but at the end of the meal, something seems to be missing. It just doesn't close the deal like Oso Eats, it's sister restaurant always seemed to do! The last meal I had here exemplifies what I mean I ordered their Club sandwich. My first reaction when it was brought to the table was - WOW! It was huge and looked very nice. So big that trying to eat it was a job in itself You could not take a bite of the entire sandwich. You were reduced to chewing off mouthfuls were you could- not a good way to eat a club sandwich which is all about the ingredients coming together as you eat it. A perfect example of more being much less. And the quality of the components was less than top of the line! As I said Close But No Cigar.

My favorite!

I'm never disappointed when I visit Ms. Virginia and her friendly staff ar Forsyth Seafood Market…read moreand Cafe. Since I moved to Greensboro, I take every opportunity I can to stop in while visiting Winston-Salem to place an order just before hitting the road back home. On this day, the cafe was busier than I had ever seen it. There was a conference happening at Wake Forest University, and many of the attendees had selected Forsyth Seafood as their dinner (without calling ahead, I assume). The self-seating cafe is large and adorned with several tables and chairs, so it was well-equipped to accommodate the large group, plus other guests that was there to eat. In stellar fashion, the kitchen staff was taking and getting orders out to the cafe and their usual takeout patrons quickly. I ordered a 5-piece Catfish, an order of hushpuppies, and a small coleslaw via their website, and had less than 10 min. wait for my order, after they recooked my order (it had mistakenly been held too long when they didn't realize I was in the parking lot, due to the large group, not a normal occurrence). One tip that Ms. Virginia (the owner) gave me for longer road trips (over 40 mins.) was to, instead of ordering a pickup online, order at the counter, and then the fish will be fried and hot (instead of fried and sitting waiting on me to pick it up), which makes it even fresher by the time I get home. As usual, I arrived in Greensboro with 3.5 pieces of fish and 1/2 an order of hush puppies because I can never resist putting my fingers in the box and eating some (despite burning my fingers lol). My entire order was delicious, and I had enough for a second meal the next day. As a successful, family-owned and operated business, Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe has been feeding generations of families delicious food for years. In addition, it has been a willing contributor in the Winston-Salem, NC, community for years. However, what speaks the loudest to me is its commitment to remaining in the community and maintaining a quality product and service. Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe is definitely Kiesha Speech-approved. I recommend trying the whiting filets or the catfish filets, with some hushpuppies (or white bread, if that's your preference) and coleslaw. Don't forget the hometown original: Texas Pete hot sauce! ;)

My husband would give this place 4 stars; however, I feel a little differently. One thing I really…read moreliked is that you can select your seafood fresh before placing your order. It's definitely a local favorite. The restaurant appeared clean and sanitized, though the lobby could use some improvement to create a better dine-in experience. Your wait time depends on how busy they are, so I recommend calling ahead, especially during peak hours. The pricing is reasonable, and there are plenty of combo options to choose from. As for our order, the sides were hit or miss. I wouldn't recommend the gumbo, but the greens and sweet potato were good. We chose fried options, but non-fried selections are available as well.

Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. We've had incredible experiences at another Full Moon location. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. We ordered grilled oysters, a pound of shrimp (peeled and deveined), and a half-pound of king crab legs, items we're very familiar with and order often. The grilled oysters didn't seem grilled at all. They looked strange, had very little butter, and were almost completely flavorless. The shrimp was another letdown. It was under-seasoned, wasn't peeled or deveined as ordered, and was gritty. We also never received the corn that was supposed to come with the boil. We could have mentioned it, but by that point we were already so disappointed that we didn't bother. The king crab legs were clearly not fresh. The shells were so old and pliable that they bent instead of cracking properly, and the inner membrane stuck to the meat. We didn't eat it. They made another order which was the same. Our waitress said they don't receive orders for the KC often so they may have been old. Ummmmm! The service didn't help the experience. The staff seemed standoffish from the beginning. Our food was dropped off without any explanation or follow-up, and we had to ask for everything we needed instead of anyone checking on us proactively. However our waitress was happy to help us remove the crab from our bill and she was pleasant. We know this isn't representative of every Full Moon Oyster Bar because we've had fantastic meals at another location. That's what makes this experience even more disappointing. We were celebrating a special occasion and left wishing we had chosen somewhere else.

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! It was a bit on the noisy side but not so bad we couldn't have a conversation. Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.
