Sun-dried Tomato Basil Scone with cheddar and flaky sea salt. Warmed to perfection. You can barely see the hand pie.
    Terri W.

My friend and I went to Copain for the first time today. What a joy! I had my eye on the Sun-dried Tomato Scone but asked if they would be able to heat it up. She said of course! She looked a little taken aback that I would have to ask that. So I explained that I had been somewhere else and they wouldn't heat their food or cinnamon roll and it was disappointing. Let me just say this about Copain...Yum!!! The scone was delicious and the apple Hand Pie was wonderful!! I ate every crumb and their decaf was VERY good. We sat in there chatting for 3 hours and they actually stopped by and asked how our first visit went. It was very nice that they recognized us because they were quite busy. I will definitely return. I see a warmed cinnamon roll in my future!

I was so impressed by Copain!! From the outside, you wouldn't expect it to be as cute and cozy as it is inside! I went with a few friends and our babies, and we were able to comfortably sit in the back for a good 2 hours. I got the chicken salad sandwich, and it was very good! The chicken salad is made in-house. It had the perfect amount of mayo. The bread was fresh and delicious. The side salad was simple and a nice addition to the meal. I can't wait to come back and try more!!

This is such a high end coffee shop, the shop looks so fancy! I ordered a cold brew iced coffee with Vanilla and Lavender. Oh my delicious cup of java! They have so many options for pastries and bread! Decided to get the tomatoes basil scone and a almond croissant. Almond crossiant, have such a great flaky texture, almonds on top with powder sugar. Delicious. Tomato basil scone, has pieces of tomato in it and is not salty at all. Both are so well made! The ladies were lovely there and was patient with me( this is my first time here). There's plenty of parking since there is a parking deck also. Great stop after leaving the social security office on this rainy day. Highly recommend this place, if you need to sit back to work online or to meet up with love ones. This is one of the largest coffee shop I've been to so far, lots of sitting as well. Check them out guys!

This has become our after-church tradition on Sunday mornings. The inside is very chic, with soft French music playing, beautiful tile, and glass cabinets showing absolutely delicious and tempting pastries. Even the bathrooms are chic. We have sampled a lot of their food offerings, including multiple croissants, biscuits with bacon, egg and cheese, ham & brie croissant, and a donut. NOTHING has disappointed. Our favorite beverage is the cafe au lait. The staff is friendly and helpful. All in all, it makes for a splendid place to chill.

Hidden gem!!! Love it here!! Incredible menu items, the best bread, tasty coffee, etc. Kind servers and beautiful interior.

I was extremely happy with my morning visit to Copain's. The space is clean and inviting with very friendly staff. We got different dishes but I usually don't taste others food but even in the fam-bam. I chose the speck and gueyere cheese croissant. *Speck is ham....FYI. It was warmed up and soft and delicious. I would highly recommend.

    Even the bathrooms are Parisian.

Copain is the sweetest bakery tucked away in a busy part of Winston-Salem. There are fresh flowers and linen napkins for each table. Indoor and outdoor seating. As we linger over coffee, croissants, quiche, and cookies, we watch people pop in for quick to-go service. I visit when I can stay awhile because I enjoy the Parisian food and style right here in North Carolina. We've had many celebrations here because the food is delicious and a real treat! Next time you're looking for a special place to visit, try Copain a Bakery & Provisions. Truly a gem in the area. European inspired bakery which will give you Parisian vibes the moment you walk in... only thing missing is the Eiffel Tower. This place has a wide variety of pastries and delicious baked goods. We came in for a light snack, or a meal. Our service was good, the staff working behind the counter and who delivered your food are helpful, accommodating and kind. Great spot, so glad to have been taken here.

The Raspberry Croissant - it is one of the main reasons for coming here.

This place represents a great addition to the WS bakery scene, in fact there is probably only one that can top the quality and variety offered here. Copain Bakery was begun in Charlotte in the early 80's by J. Basul Noble. Chef Noble heads Noble food and Pursuits which operates 5 food spots in WS and Charlotte - Copain, Rooster's Wood Fired Kitchen, Noble Smoke, Bossy Beulah's, and The Jimmy. I came with a single minded focus - the Raspberry Croissant, and that was what I had. This croissant was quite nice - flaky with a great raspberry filling with a touch of tartness. This pastry is huge, and vey well filled. As almost always happens when you are in a spot that has so many choices that are so attractively displayed, you rarely end up with just 1 item. In addition to the raspberry pastry I chose a Blueberry Danish - another excellent item. I walked in at 10:15 AM and was waited on immediately, and was back in my car in 5 minutes or so. Timing will almost certainly effect your experience - my was perfect!

    Fresh baked goods!

I've seen Copain pop up on Yelp a few times, I had the pleasure of chrcking them out! They had a lot of pastry options, and breakfast items and amazing coffee! They had a few vegetarian options as well and some gluten free options! I couldn't take a picture of it but I got a dirty chai and it was wonderful. I also got their spinach quiche which was my first ever quiche, and I absolutely loved it! Copain had a lot of fresh baked items that had their own packaging, from items such as baked bread, banana bread and tons of other options that you can just walk in and buy! It's a very posh environment, and the service was quick. The ladies behind the register were very helpful! I'll definitely be back!

Oh my goodness, what a great bakery in Winston-Salem. So beautiful inside and a great options. I tried the lemon poppy seed muffin which was under $3 by the way, lately these bakeries are charging way too much, so it was refreshing to see a place not gouge just because it's beautiful and French. It was actually a very dense muffin which I enjoyed, great for dipping in coffee. Yes... I dip stuff in coffee all the time. They had fresh focaccia, fresh baguettes, bread galore. They had macaroons and muffins and apple hand pies and quiche. All priced reasonably. My friend tried the caramel oatmeal latte and said it was the best she ever had. I tried the almond milk iced latte with strawberry syrup, so so good. This is going to be my go-to place for sure.

Nice modern place for brunch. Lovely dessert. Eclairs are to die for!! We ordered the Caprese with tomato soup and loved it!!!! My capuccino tasted like latte. Service is alright. Will be back for brunch, coffee and dessert!!

Beautiful space. Great selections for gluten eaters. Tons of sandwich options. I stumbled upon this place looking for a gluten free treat - only macarons, eclairs, and a chocolate chip cookie (no sandwiches even!) I was a bit bummed as i can't eat gluten but I'll say the eclair was good... chocolate chip cookie was hard, not moist - so if you're into that consistency, it's what you'll get!

I chose their original sauce, by far the best selection for the brisket. As usual the to go order was out quickly, just over 10 minutes, and I was on my way, with my meal securely packaged. These folks do a great job filling your order quickly and accurately, and for a reasonable price - things that used to be so common at restaurants stretching from hot dog joints to steak houses - pretty rare these days! This was the typical excellent meal from Honky Tonk - the brisket was very nice, made very special by their original BBQ sauce; the Brisket Chili had its own full smoky taste, with beans included, but apparently no onions; and the collards are good but not great - more sweetness than I care for, no sign of meat onions, or cabbage. I drain the liquid that comes with the collard and add a healthy doses of red wine vinegar and Texas Pete. The sausage included cheddar and jalapeños, and packed a nice spice level. This would be nice served a full length on a hot dog bun with a stout mustard. This Tue and Wed promise to be rather cool, will consider another visit for the Brunswick Stew, more good stuff!

What was left was a juicy piece of smoked salmon. Parts were crunchy and my fear was that there were bones, but once I figured out it was just texture, the food was enjoyable. My fiancé ordered the lil sampler with brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and sausage. Chicken was dry, brisket was good, pork was flavorful and his favorite, and sausage was a little dry. Overall, I'd get my meal again but he would not because he knows what he wants. Nevertheless, sampler was great for our first time, so he could try a little of everything. He also ordered the brisket empanadas. They were crunchy, flavorful, and good amount of cheese to meat ratio. Would get again. There would be moments of a lot of people, but the service was still good. We would finish something, and someone would be right over to take it away. They also had cotton candy, even though we didn't get any, it created a nice, fun feel to the place. We watched soccer and had a great time. Even the music was setting the great tone. Our server was warm, attentive, and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we asked. The space has that familiar barbecue joint look. Nothing fancy, just comfortable and family friendly. Noise level sat right in the middle, lively but not overwhelming, and no one rushed us even as we lingered, laughed, and took more photos than necessary. I ordered the Pitmaster Plate with North Carolina chopped barbecue. You can choose sliced, chunky, or chopped. The pork was tender, flavorful, and exactly the slightly vinegary flavor I love. I added collard greens, coleslaw, and sweet potato casserole. The greens had a slight kick but were balanced. The coleslaw was fresh and necessary alongside the barbecue. The sweet potato casserole was easily the standout side. The only drawback is portioning on the sides. They are a bit small, especially if you are planning leftovers. I went in hoping to stretch this into multiple meals and almost made it. Still worth it, just manage expectations. Also worth noting, bread does not come with the plate, so I added rolls. My total came to about $31 with the automatic gratuity for larger groups, and I added a little extra. For the quality, service, and portion of barbecue, that feels more than fair. Everything was consistently good, and the experience made it even better. Great spot for groups, easygoing, and welcoming. I will be back.
