I've been with my barber back home in Hawaii for almost 3 years and let me tell you, it has been a struggle to find someone who can cut my hair the way I like it. Living in Riverside for almost a month I knew I needed to find a barber ASAP, and it has been difficult as most barbershops were closed due to COVID-19, however, there are a few that are operating and creating a safe and healthy environment. I met a friend online that lived in the SB area and he recommended Obie's Barber Shop & Shaving Parlor. I was a bit hesitant as this would be my first cut in CA and I was afraid of the outcome. I eventually decided to just do it because self-care is super important and getting my haircut is self-care for me. I called Obie's barbershop and they were very helpful, I asked if they had any openings the following day and the nice lady stated that there are, she even asked if this would be the first time I'm getting a cut at their shop, I said yes and that I just moved here. She was very helpful in walking me through the process of their new protocols with social distancing. The next day I received a text from my barber, Miguel, and reminded me of my appointment along with an image of their new protocols. Parking is easily accessible at this shop and you can see the barbers cutting outside. Instructions stated to wait in the car until I received a text to go in. I thought this was very efficient to stop people from crowding and to continue to practice social distancing. I saw how they sanitized everything before a new client arrived, and I really appreciate that because it shows how much they care about their clients. Once it was my turn to go in, Miguel texted me and I was greeted with a friendly environment. He asked what I was looking to get done, and I told him my regular cut, which was a Medium fade for the sides, side comb, no hard part, and half an inch on the top. Miguel really did an amazing job on the cut and I enjoyed the conversations we had. Shoutout to the owner for being the mastermind behind the outdoor set-up and allowing your clients to continue to get their haircuts in a safe environment. 10/10 would recommend this place!

I have had so many hair colors and styles over the years including: highlights, lowlights, balayage, "money piece", layers, undercut, a-line bob, long bob, medium length, long length. For reference my natural hair is dark brown (almost black), very thick (density wise), but fine (in reference to the diameter of each hair strand). He has flawlessly made my naturally dark hair various shades of blonde over the years without ever making my hair brassy, brittle or damaged. I recently went back to brunette after years of being blonde, and again done absolutely perfect without damage. He is a master at what he does. My hair is always healthy, shiny and looking great! He is literally the sweetest and chill person. I will always HIGHLY recommend him! He also stays educated on the latest trends: cuts, colors, styles and products! Random Side-note: My mom is allergic to many things including hair dye. Eddie uses henna dye for her, which many don't know is an option if you have that allergy.
