The Shop CT LLC There is not enough words in the dictionary or paper for me to write for me how much this place will screw you over. I sent my car there for for $2000 (their quote) worth of work. - New clutch kit - Motor mounts - Diagnose why it was getting hotter than usual - Diagnose VSS issue Jimmy calls me to tell me that the head gaskets are bad and the motor needs to come out. I ask him for a quote for the extra work. He says he will send me one. I never get one. I email him asking for a quote for the extra work. I never get a response to that email. He later, sends me an email of the motor removed from my car, and then goes radio silent for the next week and a half. No updates, no nothing. Against his promise of keeping me in the loop throughout the whole process. I finally get in touch with him and he tells me my car will be ready in a couple of days. I go to get my car and the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. It was NOT ready. He keeps the car to figure out why, and still doesn't tell me how much it'll cost. He tells me the car is ready again. I go there and the car seems to be good to go. That's when he gives me a bill for $12,500. After never giving me any sort of quote. He tells me he spelled my last name wrong in their system so his quotes must not have been going to me. I leave without my car. A week passes and I hear nothing. I call and get told that Jimmy is busy and wouldn't be able to talk about this until the beginning of the following week. They do not call me until late Thursday afternoon. I go down there with the police to get my car back because they are unlawfully holding my property. Jimmy lies through his teeth, tells them I never asked for a quote and that I agreed on the price. The officers were useless at upholding the law, and did nothing of benefit. I give Jimmy $6000 to give me my car back. I file a complaint through the DMV. I am called multiple times to be asked to revoke my complaint. I do not revoke my complaint. The DMV finds The Shop CT LLC in violation of multiple factors of the Motor Vehicle Repair Act, and Jimmy has to give me back $4000 (the difference between what I gave him, and the original quote). It's over, right? Wrong. I have had the car back since October 2024, it is not March 7th 2025. The car has been out of working order on 3 separate occasions since The Shop CT LLC has worked on it. First, it had a misfire. I go in to find both drivers side coil packs completely loose. As in - the bolts were not even started. The two on the passengers side were torqued by a man with anger issues I imagine because I have to use a 1/2" drive to get them off. Second, the car was a no start, to a loss of all power. They didn't properly tighten down the ground straps to the chassis, so the car would not start. People who know cars also know that this eats alternators. Thirdly, the heat stops working completely. It didn't stop immediately. It would work some of the time, and then stop. At one point, it stopped working entirely and very shortly after, the car overheated and popped the used radiator that they put in the car, even though I never had any reason to believe that my stock radiator was faulty. Now, right before I started writing this, I found that they cross threaded one of the bolts that connect the intercooler to the turbo. So I cannot take my intercooler off to do flush of my heater core. I can tell you that I got the car back with lug nuts that were not torqued at all, or significantly over torqued. I still don't even know the full scale of what they did to my car, and how badly they ruined it. Do yourself a favor, go literally anywhere else. Protect yourself and your vehicle. These people are complete hacks, or just full blown cons. Pros - Lisa was lovely. read more

Stop reading the reviews and just go! Ever since I first came to The Shop CT I instantly felt at home. Everybody at the shop truly does make you feel like family, not to mention the provide some of the best and cleanest work I've ever come across (I've been to many shops over the years). I would never bring my car anywhere else. My 2020 Supra wouldn't be where it is today without them, they really helped me turn the car into exactly what I was looking for and made sure to keep me up to date throughout the whole process. From all my engine work to the tubing etc. everything was done perfectly and just how I wanted. It's always nice when in todays world you can still find an honest shop that does great quality work. I just want to say first and foremost THANK YOU to The Shop for everything they did for me. They took on my build after Subaru dismantled it and denied my warranty claim, and then another shop failed to do anything with my car other then break parts, lose parts, and waste a month of my time. Jimmy and his Wife were nothing but kind and helpful through the whole process and really helped ease my stress about the whole situation. They walked me through step by step as they sorted through the boxes of parts figuring out what I needed to replace or find. In the end, even with COVID-19 going on they had a very impressive turn around time and even the base map they put on my car while it's still being broke in is running beautifully without even a hint of knock. Short story: Paid a total of $1400+for a tune that makes my car slower, re-attached a turbo pipe that become loose, and a new diverter valve. Drove there 3 times and spent around 15+hours waiting there . Long story:Brought my mk7 golf R to get tuned and there was a issue finalizing installing it on my access port so I left home hooked up a battery charge and installed it on my own in 10min, the tune was slower than the stock Cobb map,came back another time when I had some mechanical issues and it was taken care of in a timely manner jimmy responded immediately and helped me out as soon as he could get me in, still had tuning problems after my 2nd visit along with some error codes due to a diverter valve that was installed on my last visit and the tuner was not responding after multiple emails and waiting over a month so I got in touch with jimmy and he told me to drop my car off and they will take care of it and offered a to install another tune if I bought it off EQT but I refused because I had paid $750 for a tune and got one that made my car slower and consistent error codes pop up, after I threatened to sue the tuner they responded promptly within the hour and offered to re-tune so I accepted and after picking my car up the tune was still slower than the stock Cobb map after initially saying the tune would bump me up around 20hp and 30tq, the tuner wasn't very helpful and barely responded after I paid for the tune but was actually responding quickly prior to getting the tune but jimmy was able to get in touch and get it taken care of, Good shop with some good customer service for most of the shop and I would give them 4+ stars if not for the tuning, I would not recommend anyone getting their car tuned here. read more

Although I did not end up having major work done by them, Lisa and Jimmy took care of me and were extremely supportive and helpful during a very complicated and unusual process which involved some major warranty work. They had no problem keeping my vehicle for several months (!) while I determined whether they would even be able to begin a repair for me under warranty. When I found out that my work would not be approved, they sympathized and completely freed me of any storage fees that other shops would have charged me, despite being extremely tight on space!! I wish Yelp had a no-star rating. Although two of their friends posted and gave them five stars the truth is this place should not be in business. Period. After paying over $5,000 to fix my car they gave it back to me broken...TWICE! They swore I was imagining things so I drove my car home and on the way it over heated and my motor cooked. I disputed the charges with my credit card and was still forced to pay for a broken car because The Shop wanted to handle the situation "amicably." By that they meant I would have to give them more money to fix a car that I already paid them twice to fix! They obviously go through this a lot. If you like your car and your money...please stay away from this place! And, if they get a sense that you have money to spend they will try to drain it out of you. Despicable. read more

These guys will rip you a new one and tell you a price then when the job is complete even after overcharging you. They will charge you a lot more than the discussed price. Avoid like the plague. Installed headers, they lied about saying they could get my car to pass inspections with them. Only reason I even bought and installed the headers in the first place. Maximum PSI in NJ remove the headers at less than half the price and were honest. They work on BMW's and knew what the shop told and charge me was a rip off. read more

The business review: For the last 2 years I've been bringing my vehicles to Jimmy and the staff at The Shop CT. In terms of builds ... I've had two GT-R's, an M4 and an S5 built here. Most of the work was in the 400 to 700 WHP range before our recent adventure with a 1366 WHP GT-R. To this day I've still not had a single issue with any of these builds nor have I heard complaints from the new owners. Aside from performance work they've also performed tons of cosmetic work to the same top-notch degree. Lisa, his wife, wears many hats but you'll always be greeted with a smile, great attitude, and respect. She's the ying to the yang in that shop and you'll immediately feel her good vibes to the point where you'll be wondering what took you so long to leave your other "shop." The personal review: I was on vacation when my GT-R's rims got stolen in my "gated" complex. While still on vacation, I frantically searched for a shop to help me out and lift the car off the calipers onto anything else but the pavement. Luckily, I got in touch with the right people. Without flinching, Jimmy and Angel came through (while I wasn't there) and did me (a stranger at the time) a HUGE favor. Thereafter he offered to let me keep my vehicle in this shop while I figured something out. If you read all of that and said to yourself "wow" you now get exactly how I felt. Most of us don't have friends that pick up the phone let alone treat complete strangers like this. Fast forward two years, we're all great friends. I've made lasting relationships, that I wholeheartedly value, with Jimmy, Lisa, and the entire family at The Shop CT. It's truly a refreshing feeling, besides knowing your car is in the best hands possible, that on a personal level they genuinely care. I hope that my rant paints a visual picture for what you should expect, from both perspectives, when you decide to bring your business to Jimmy, Lisa and The Shop CT. They've built and are continually building a brand worth being proud of. If you live anywhere remotely close to their location and you're not bringing your car to them you're doing yourself a serious disservice. Let me start off by saying I've never dealt a more professional and friendly automotive/performance shop in my life, and I've been an enthusiast for a while. Jimmy and Lisa were super friendly, helpful, informative, and funny and made me feel so welcomed. They were even nice enough to buy me lunch and have one of their employees drop me off at my hotel down the street. Honestly, if I could give a rating worse then 1 star...I would. I have NEVER had a worse shop experience in my life. about 2 months ago, I made an appointment 2 weeks ahead of time (because they were backed up) to have my wrx diagnosed for a no start issue. Brought the car in, waited a few days and never heard back. So i called to check up on the status. They told me that I needed a new ECM, BCM, and a new bulk harness under the dash. Just so everyone knows...the harness alone is 1300 from subaru brand new alone..so of course I wasnt too eager to jump right into it without more digging for other possible issues. Anyway, they were CONVINCED those were the issues and highly recommend that i did ALL 3 at once rather than trying one by one till the issue was resolved. they said doing so could short out a module if the issue wasnt resolved by what had been replaced. Well a few days later I gave them the OK to do it ALL except i would supply the harness because i found one out of the same year car in a junk yard. they said ok so i drove down there (an hour and 20mins) to deliver the harness. they said they will start it in the next week. well..waited till the next week and didnt hear anything. kept waiting and another week goes by so I email them asking if there were any updates. I got a reply back saying they were busy and it is scheduled to get into the shop for next week. ok im a little upset at this point but whatever i brush it off. wait a week and still hear nothing...i email them again for more updates...what do you know..hasnt gotten in but its scheduled to be in soon. my dumbass gives them the benefit of the doubt and waits one more week. at this point i just call and talk to Lisa myself. I asked "hey any updates on the car?" She then tells me that they have been busy and will not get it in until the first week of august (at this point that was like 2 weeks away). I then start getting frustrated and asked who has been emailing me telling me that it was scheduled for so and so day and she tells me that she knows nothing about the emails and that it must have been a scheduling "hiccup".....at this point i was extremely annoyed and she said she will get it in next week FOR SURE. I said ok..guess what..they actually got to it. this time the owner Jimmy talks to me and tells me that no one in the shop wants to work on the car because its "hacked up". He was extremely rude and swore as if he was not talking to a paying customer. I picked the car up a few days later. I got charged 5hrs of diag (dont think car ever even got pulled into the shop) and Jimmy was EXTREMELY rude to me in person as well. Brought the car to ECS performance a few days later and they figured out the issue the day after they received the car and guess what...it had NOTHING to do with an ecm bcm or harness....it ended up being a cam gear issue that caused an advance in timing. they figured it out IN 2 DAYS. the shop had it for a month and a half and did nothing but try and rape my wallet. NEVER AGAIN. They either dont know a thing about subarus or they just want to get every last dollar out of you. honestly i think its both. Please stay clear of these people. They are liars. Ive always heard shady things about them but also heard some good things so I figured Id take the risk....boy was that a mistake. Trust me, if you dont have a high end car or youre young like me and might seem like you're tight with money...they WILL put you on the back burner. read more
