On my way to my good girlfriend's wedding. My hair is done. My nails are fierce and my dress is to die for! My car, however, was not ready for the trip. My car started to chug and lurch and I was panicked and heart broken. So I kept my foot on the gas and hoped I could make it to another exit. I stopped at gas station to see if some gas and oil would help. No such luck. I went to auto zone. They hooked up my car and told me I needed ignition plugs. My mechanic told me it was an easy fix. And he would do it later. PSYCHE! I'm LATE so he told me to see if there were any men hanging around who would consider doing it. I started to drive home and just get a rental car when I looked up and saw Pastir. I begged a man in the parking lot to help me. He told me to please go tell the manager inside because he couldn't do it. The manager was awesome. He ran outside and hooked up mg car to the diagnostic machine. He started poking my engine and figured out what parts he needed. He called and is having them delivered. I don't know if he will be successful in getting my car back on the road, damnit I know he tried and I am so grateful. So so grateful. God is good because they are only open every other Saturday so this was a relationship meant to be! read more

Great service super nice people but I went in 3 times over the last week and not one mask. The front desk person never had one on. Hand sanitizer was empty. Kind of disappointing as this was my first time here and I'd love to keep coming. But if you're the face of the business and actively speaking to customers you really need to have a mask on. read more

Good service and honest guys. We have been going there since it was called Dave's a few years back. They get simple stuff done in a timely manner, and will shoot you straight as to whether a repair is worth the cost if your car is nearing the end of its lifespan rather than string you along. A few times we had major work done and got multiple quotes and they always come in with the best price. read more

I've been taking my car to Dave's for nearly 8 years now, and I haven't lived in Stratford in 4 years! Dave himself is super helpful, as well as his staff. Luckily my cars have been good to me so far and never had any major work needed. I always take my car to Dave's for oil changes, which are by far the cheapest around and they rarely (if ever) give you a hassle. Never try to "upsell" like Jiffy Lube and the like. They've done standard work like brakes and such, and I just made another appointment to fill my freon and get a transmission flush. They've never tried to take advantage of myself or my wife and our mediocre knowledge about cars. You can drop your car off after-hours as well, which is handy since I don't live in the area anymore. Ever go to a garage and say to them...I am sure I need new brakes. They take the car and call you and say, you have at least another half year on these! Saved $500 Numerous times they have been honest, timely, quick, informative, friendly, cost saving, and helpful. One time my wives car was smoking. Brought it to Dave. This car was just over the warranty...5 years old. I was seeing the need for something big. And I am pretty good with mechanics/cars myself. Dave said the emergency brake was sticking. Fixed it, made sure it was back to new, and charged me $30. Customer for life. read more

Good service but concerned about the cleanliness of the shop. No staff wearing masks (also have seen several patrons enter without masks) and I witnessed an employee sneeze, blow his nose, neglect to sanitize his hands, and then take a credit card from a customer. read more

Barry at Pastir Automotive is the best. I live about an hour away from Stratford and was coming into town to have a look at a used car I thought I might buy. I called Barry the day before my trip to ask if I might bring a car by for him to inspect. He was extremely accommodating and despite having a very busy schedule for that day told me I could come by with the car and he would try to help me out. He does a full inspection with a written report for about $120 where he puts the car on the lift and has a good look at everything. The car I was bringing him had a Carfax report of a prior account and therefore before spending $24,000 wanted an expert opinion on the condition of the car. I arrived at Pastir in the early afternoon on a Saturday to find that Barry was indeed busy, but as promised, he took a quick look at the car for me. He immediately found the area of repair that I had so readily missed. Once pointed out, it was easy to see the driver's door panel and adjacent front panel had been damaged and repaired. According to Barry the repair job was sloppy (I agreed once he showed me why) and most importantly pointed out that the two affected adjacent panels were not properly aligned suggesting the possibility of a bent frame. The front door and the front panel were no longer parallel to one another with about 1 mm of clearance (rather than 3 - 4mm) between the lowest point on the panels with the front door barely clearing the from panel when opened. If the panels were to settle at all the driver's door might not clear the front panel with a risk that the door could become obstructed and might no longer open. Further suggesting a frame issue was the fact that one of the bolts connecting the engine block to the frame under the hood on the driver's side next to the front panel was off by 1/2 inch from its original position. In 10 minutes he gave me unbelievably valuable information and did not charge me a dime for his help. THANK YOU BARRY! I went on to telephone my mechanic of 20 years who is 45 miles away and texted him some photos of the issue Barry raised as well as checked several other alignment issues (for example the front tires were not equidistant to the frame - the driver's tire was further from the frame than the passenger tire by about 1/2 inch). My mechanic concurred with Barry and I passed on this "great deal" despite the fact that the car was otherwise beautiful and exactly what we wanted. My mechanic also told me he currently had a car in the shop with a similar frame issue which required $5500 to repair. I am taking the time to write this review because Barry was so kind and helpful to a complete stranger in a way that one does not often encounter in today's world. If I lived in Stratford I would definitely use his garage for any car maintenance or repair issues. Since I do not, my only way to repay his kindness is to recommend you give him your business if you need an honest and reliable mechanic in Stratford. read more

The Trumbull service center worst place I have ever visited, not only did they lie about to the repair bill but then after tried to make me pay an outrageous amount of money that a dealer would not even have charged me on top of the fact that they did not repair my complaint. Then upon requesting the bill, they tried to talk me into more service with them. read more

I just started going to Pastir with my Audi and they have saved me money. They took care of both of the problems I had and also saved me from getting an unnecessary brake job that Audi said I needed. I plan on using them for all of my service issues going forward. read more

Having just moved to Stratford a couple of days ago, I was in need of a mechanic after my Escape was making some funky noises coming from the under-carriage. I called and spoke with Dave on a Monday morning at 8am, he said to bring the car in and they had it by 10am. I received a call early afternoon with a diagnosis after him and his colleague test drove it. He mentioned the car was in good working order and no repairs were necessary at this time. He said the car was ready to be picked up whenever and there was no bill! Unbelievable! Dave's Automotive will certainly be my go-to for any car repairs moving forward. Good, honest mechanics are hard to come by - I've been looking for one for years, and I'm glad that I finally have one less than 2 miles from my house. My elderly mother-in-law lives in Stratford and needed a new car repair shop about a year ago for her ~10 year old car, so I got on yelp and saw the great reviews. Mom has taken the car there a couple of times, and the shop has also come and picked up the car, at no extra charge. For just an oil change! While some shops will take advantage of elderly in mom's situation, these guys have been so completely honest and helpful it's staggering. They have yet to say she needs anything expensive, and this is an older car that a less reputable place would argue needs all sorts of things. Bravo Dave's! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I went in for the $21.95 oil change. when the bill came is was $51.05. When I asked about the price of the bill Scott said it was because my oil cap fell apart in the mechanics hand and they put on another one for $18.00. If I did not ask, they never were going to tell me about the oil cap. I was never shown the old oil cap nor was I told this happened before I was presented the bill. I realize there is a markup on the oil cap, this was a very cheap $5.97 item, I looked it up. I have been coming here, when it was Dave's Automotive, for years. Made an appointment for a Saturday morning to have them see if they could pinpoint a small leak I see when the car is parked overnight. I get there 7:30 when they advertise they open. I walk-in and the employees are all sitting in waiting room waiting for "the boss" to get there.They ask me what the problem is with my car, I tell them, and they all start giving me theories what it may be, and mentiouthey don't really do those types of fixes on a Saturday because they close at 1:30.What??, I got the impression Saturday's are only for oil changes and simple things.I wish they would have mentioned that when I made the appt.They continue to all sit around the waiting room till "the boss" comes in around 8:00.He asks (Ed was his name I think)what I need done, and he pretty much is telling me that they don't have time on a Saturday and I'd be better off bringing it back during the week.He was very short and seemed annoyed I was even there.I asked if they could at least give it a look since Im there. He said it would be awhile because there are other cars in front of me. Now I understand that? But it's now 8:25 and the mechanics are STILL hanging around the waiting room talking amongst themselves. There was absolutely no urgency on their part to do anything.I ended up just leaving, I drove across the street to Firestone, they took it in right away and saw I had a loose clamp. They tightened it and said no charge! Now that was good service!. I'd never go back to Pastir again.Terrible attitudes and service. read more

I live in Fairfield and Daves is by no means convenient for me. That being said I wouldn't think about taking my old truck to another place. Service is great, friendly staff, and prices are competitive. Ted is awesome and he keeps me on the road! read more
