I always enjoy myself no matter what I come to The Shore for. Whether it's a happy hour at the bar, with friends, a networking event, or dinner alone in the corner by the kitchen, it's always a good time. I am a big salmon freak and Chef Sean does one of the best Mediterranean salmon dishes I've ever had. The small plates are also a big favorite and the menu changes seasonally. Drinks are pricey so I rarely indulge, but when I do, the cocktails are creative and tasty and the wine selection is easy to choose from. I'm also not a big dessert person anymore but it's hard to resist the selections here, even though powerhouse pastry chef Kevin Futamachi has since moved on and now runs Sweet Escapes Bakes. I have reviewed this establishment before because the Renaissance hotel is my go to hotel in Reno. It is an amazing place to stay. That said, there is a new chef at The Shore. Started off with the pork belly for $23. Although the dish itself was amazing, this is taking the tapas experience a little too far. It was literally three tiny pieces of pork belly. It was scrumptious, but there has to be value attached to food. I'm not trying to be too harsh, but I would say the value to food ratio on this dish was pathetic. I had the chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and I really liked my dinner. It had a couple pieces of asparagus and I ate every bite on my plate. Was it outstanding? I would not say it was outstanding, the chicken was not quite fall off the bone scrumptious. If you're gonna leave the skin on the chicken it should be crispy. My wife had the salmon. She liked it, but again not outstanding. For $148 bill at the end, I would've rather spent my money at Dukes. Sorry The Shore, I did enjoy my meal, but if I was to truly rate it on value? I would give it a 6 out of 10. Note, the crème brûlée was excellent. Now in the morning we had breakfast. I had the pancakes and bacon, both were exceptional. Of course there's way too many pancakes to eat, they give you four. I have a big appetite but I couldn't even come close. They give fresh cream with it that is outstanding. The contrast in food volume is noted though. Comparing it to my pork belly the night before. My wife had the gluten-free waffles and bacon. Again, outstanding and huge portions. My only sadness was they took the biscuits and gravy off the menu when the chef left. That is heartbreaking because they had the best biscuits and gravy in town. Maybe they can find their way back to it under the new chef. Overall, I will be back because I will be back at the Renaissance and the convenience of The Shore is too much to pass up. This review was for when we dined in for breakfast on Saturday August 15, 2026. I want to start off by saying that up until today, I've dined at The Shore many times before and had nothing short of pleasant experiences. That morning, however, we had a surprisingly negative one. I, along with two of my friends started our morning at The Shore by being seated outside. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash, my friend ordered the Chilaquiles with Chorizo and a side of home fried potatoes, and my other friend ordered the Avocado Toast. The food was delicious as always but we barely saw our server throughout our meal service. Perhaps it was busy. After, receiving our receipt, we left to continue our morning. This is where the issue starts. When dividing up the bill for my friends to pay me back, I realized the subtotal was wrong. I'll provide a picture of the receipt, but if you add up everything which was: the Corned beef hash ($24), the Chilaquiles ($22) add chorizo ($4), side of home fried potatoes ($6), and the Avocado toast ($18); those all Should add up to $74. The receipt says for the subtotal line as $92, which is an $18 difference. I tried calling, but was put on hold for about 10 min until I hung up. I tried calling a few more times but would always get rerouted back to the main menu. So we decided to go back in person to try to resolve the issue. We were able to speak with a manager whose name was Michael Chiacos. Once he confirmed that the subtotal was wrong, he offered me a gift card with "a little more" added to it Or a refund of the $18 back to my card. I opted for the refund of the $18 back on my card. He said that it would have to be processed Monday because the bill was closed and accounting department needs to process the refund. He asked me to write down my name, phone number and email and he added "$18" along with all of my info. He followed up by saying it will take a few days for the refund to be applied and should be no later than Wednesday. As I write this review, it is now Thursday August 20th and I have not seen any refund back on my card. What's interesting is that I asked Michael why or how did this happen. And he replied saying that the avocado toast was a newer item and that they just added it to the POS system. But that doesn't really explain how a phantom $18 was added to the subtotal. On the receipt the avocado toast is listed and evening added up, including the avocado toast adds up to $74. And it's not like the avocado was charged twice. It just makes me wonder if this was an isolated incident or have I been overcharged previous times before? I don't normally double check my subtotals and maybe this is a lesson for me to Always check subtotals on my receipts. But as a customer, we shouldn't to worry if the subtotal was added up correctly. And whether it was $5, $18 or $100; it's the principle of it all. To the management: Please check your system and look into why this happened. If it happened to us, who's to say it could have happened or is happening to others. To dining patrons: Please make sure to double check your subtotals. $18 once, might not be that much. But $18 multiple times does indeed add up. This recent visit, although the food was delicious, was an overall disappointing experience. read more

One of the few restaurants that is right on the river in Downtown Reno. The outdoor deck has better views but you still can see a little bit of the river from the inside dining room, not the bar area. The view is possible (and rare in Reno) because the riverwalk doesn't run in front of this hotel it is in. The ambiance is about as nice as it gets for Reno without feeling too stuffy. The downside of the cavernous high ceilings in the bar area is when packed, it's noisy. Service and food were 4.5 stars for Happy Hour in the bar on a semi-packed Friday. Happy Hour prices on drinks and food are very reasonable given the ambiance and location although you can't see the river from the bar area. I've not had a chance to try the main dining room menu but from what I saw it looks good, although a bit pricey, understandable for the location. The main downside, Reno's fault, not the restaurant, is that in the middle of Summer for most people it's going to be a bit too hot to sit out on the wonderful river-view deck unless you are having breakfast/brunch or unless you are dining very late in the evening (8'ish) and there's a breeze. read more

A very mixed review. I was very excited to see counter seating is open again. Six seats on the counter facing into the open kitchen. I love watching chefs do their thing. And you get a preview to almost everything on the menu. Weekly, if you follow on Facebook, you'll get the three course pre fixe dinner for $60. This has been a great deal in the past. Tonight it felt off. It used to be an appetizer, main, dessert and a bottle of wine for $60. The three shared courses are still served on a single plate to share, but instead of a bottle you each get two 3oz pours. Neither of us are fans of Chardonnay and the waitress had no problems letting us have two pours of the Pinot Noir. The first plate was off to a fabulous start- two huge delicious scallops perfectly cooked on endive and accented with lava salt. The second plate was pistachio crusted halibut with carrot pureé. It was a single serving that we split. A bit small. But the fish was fabulously flaky. Also wishing for a bit more purée. A bit of confusion on the dessert. We were told the poached pears weren't ready yet so we could pick a different dessert. Then poached pears and ice cream showed up. In the past we have left perfectly satisfied. Met friends on a Friday afternoon for happy hour. We haven't been to The Shore happy hour before and it was such a nice experience. Their small bites are $3.00 off for happy hour. And there are drink specials too. I had their salmon tostadas (two to an order) and I was pleasantly pleased of how delicious they were. Lots of flavor compiled on a crunchy tostada! My hubby ordered the meatballs and he loved them! Our friends got a chicken sandwich and also the salmon tostadas. Our friend shared his French fries that came with the chicken sandwich and they were so good. Great to have discovered those. I love French fries! Service from Noah was great. When we arrived, they told us they sold out of the dinner, which was pretty disappointing, but we ordered some other tasty things. On a whim and during a time in which I thought the El Dorado Blues Brews took place but turns out it's this weekend. Initially I was trying to find a pretty place to sit outside and remembered that this place is a long the water. I wasn't sure I would enjoy the menu, but wow, I ordered the Savini salad and added chicken (you have the option of grilled or bone in) but wow this salad was incredible it had garbanzo beans, blue cheese, egg and sherry vinagrette. My mouth is salivating writing this review. My friend and I split the Beloved Herb's foccachia and added whipped herb ricotta. Everything hint was incredible. Years ago in the winter time I remembered there was a live cocktail demonstration in which a cart came out. Low and behold in walking inside I saw we missed the demo but saw the cart and the pitcher with a cocktail mix. I asked our waitress inside if it may be possible to have a sample and she checked with the bartendar who stated it was fine. It was a nice treat to enjoy. Had a good dinner at the Shore, in the Renaissance hotel with a nice patio and soothing river views. I would highly recommend sitting outside by the fire pit in the corner of the patio, very vibey and pleasant. The salmon entree was killer! The salmon had a perfect char and crispness to it and wasn't at all dry. The veggies were really tasty and tender and well seasoned. Also enjoyed the meatball dish with feta so yummy! The service was a little weird, we didn't get seated right away despite there being tons of available tables and the hostess forgot about us so our wait was long for no reason. Then the water person skipped over my partner but offered me water, even though both our glasses were at same levels. Food wise the shishito peppers were a little disappointing and I wish the portions were a bit bigger, the side of mushrooms was tiny and the shrimp tempura bites could have used a fourth one on the plate for $13! Had my birthday dinner here this year and let me say I was surprised by how pretty and aesthetic it is inside. Located inside the Renaissance Hotel and right next to Bundox Bocce. Danelle was our server and she was lovely and fun to talk to. She welcomed us and told us about their special of the day and if we had any other questions regarding the menu. They have a dinner menu for 2 for $60 that comes with a full bottle of wine for the table, salad, main entree and dessert to share. We did not end up getting that and just picked off the menu of what stood out to us. For drinks, we got a glass of red wine and the clean old fashion. As for food, we shared the grilled charred Spanish octopus and sauteed manila clams for appetizers and the liberty duck breast and the parmesan ricotta gnocchi with wagyu beef. My family made reservations for dinner at The Shore Room near the holidays. We had an okay experience as the food was delicious but overall smaller portions and it took a really long time for us to be served our food. We did order 1 appetizer, which wasn't enough for a table of 6 so I wish the waiter would have suggested us ordering more because our entree's didn't come out until ~1.5 hours after we were initially seated. Overall, the staff was nice and accommodating as well. We tried the Grill Charred Spanish Octopus, Grilled Chicken Thighs (my order - really good but my rice was crispy and overcooked), Seared Flat Iron Steak (my husband's order - good but very standard), Pan Seared Black Cod (my in-laws order - good but very small and left them wanting more). We also had a variety of desserts, which were all delicious. My favorite was the panna cotta! We had the Greek Meatballs and the Grilled Charred Spanish Octopus. It was just the right amount to share and both were delicious! The food is so good. Lots of elevated, creative options on the menu. Very friendly, warm service. We came here for a Christmas dinner but just went with the tapas approach instead of their rich Christmas menu. We had the Greek meatballs (excellent, succulent), the spinach and arugula salad (perfectly dressed, with high-quality candied walnuts), the persimmon carpaccio (not a lot of flavor with this one), the duck ham (like the most exquisite lunch meat you've ever had), and the fried polenta (OMG). OK, we had even more than that, but those were the highlights. Loved pretty much everything and was really impressed with the thought that went into every dish. Oh yeah, we had the pear sorbet for dessert--the added hazelnut oil and sea salt made it taste almost savory--perfectly balanced, with rich deep pear flavor . . . was delicious and an excellent value at only $5. Great views of the rushing river right out the windows, and elegant ambience all around without being too fussy. It is a little dimly lit, so bring your glasses and expect to use your phone light to read the menu if your eyesight is poor. Also, if you're planning to do tapas-style, ask for a table bigger than a two-seater; our table was too small to hold all the plates, which made us feel a bit rushed to clear through each course in order to make room for more dishes coming. This place is really good, and something I wish we had more of. Hidden in a hotel just off the main roads I understand why a lot of people don't think of this as a locals place, but it really should be. The patio is awesome in the summer, and the inside is beautiful when the weather outside is not. The shore room is a great spot for happy hour. They actually put out interesting items and change it up from time to time instead of the overdone chicken wings, and flat bread happy hour offerings. The bartenders and staff are great, especially Jake and Jeff. They are friendly to talk to, and always have an eye out for an almost empty glass. I am always on the hunt for a good deal on oysters, and came across The Shore Room, while on yelp. I didn't initially realize it was inside the Renaissance Hotel. They do an oyster special during their happy hour, starting at 4. They have a nice patio overlooking the river, but the weather was crummy so I sat at the bar. They offer their oysters either raw or grilled. I had never had a grilled oyster, so I thought I would try something different. They were good sized and beautifully dressed. They were described as miso grilled with a sriracha sauce. I tasted the sriracha but not the miso. I love raw oysters and eat them everywhere. The only time I have had them cooked, were when they were fried and put in a poboy or something. Cooking them really didn't do anything for me, they were just warm. I won't try that again. I did think the quality of the oysters were good and I would go again to try them raw. The service was just okay at the bar. They did have some fruit flies that were a bit annoying, but that can happen, and they are hard to get rid of. Also, that overpowering floral smell from the hotel lobby is present in the restaurant, and is a bit off putting. read more

I've heard mixed reviews about this restaurant but was excited to come try it when my friend planned a birthday brunch here! We had a reservation for noon but we were not seated until closer to 12:20. The place is beautiful with high ceilings, dangling lights around the bar, and lots of windows overlooking the river. As soon as we sat down, the waitress informed us that the kitchen was pretty backed up and it might be better to put our food orders in early. Not a great sign, but we appreciated the head's up. It took a while to get our drinks but besides that, the wait really wasn't too bad. It took less than an hour for our food to come out which I was happy about given the warning when we sat down; I think we caught the tail end of the brunch crowd. We tried ordering a side dish for our baby and then the waitress said she had a kids menu she could bring out (a little strange she didn't bring it out when she initially brought the high chair). The kids menu was all lunch items, so we decided on a short stack of pancakes for her. The waitress said we could order just a single pancake which was not on the menu, so we did that instead. I had a latte, my husband had hot tea, and others in our group did bottomless mimosas for drinks. My husband's tea was brought out as just hot water and he had to ask for the selection of tea options to be brought out from two different waiters before it came. My husband and I split two different dishes: the chorizo benedict and the biscuits and gravy topped with an egg. The chorizo didn't seem as flavorful or spicy as I expected, same with the jalapeño hollandaise which just tasted like normal hollandaise to me. I've had flavored hollandaise at other places and there should be a noticeable difference. The biscuits and gravy were good, the sausage gravy had a nice country flavor and the biscuits were soft. They did a special birthday dessert for my friend which was a dense and rich chocolate cake. Overall, the food was pretty good for brunch and the wait wasn't terrible. I'd say it was a pretty average brunch experience, but nothing to rave about that makes us have a strong desire to return. Back to The Shore for brunch. This is one of the restaurants I return to again and again for brunch, happy hour and fabulous dinners! Service is always outstanding here and the restaurant/lounge are beautiful. Soon it will be patio weather and they have one of the best patios in town overlooking the Truckee River. We started with the bottomless mimosas and had eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito and egg scramble for entrees. Love that they have a single item option so if you want half eggs Benedict order (which is usually all I can eat) you're able to choose that. I've heard of The Shore and wanted to try them. I didn't know it was inside a hotel, but parking was free and quick. Then we walked over to the main entrance and the restaurant was to the right side. It was my first time in the hotel so we explored the art gallery and Bundox Bocce. At the restaurant, we were offered seating indoors or outdoors. We chose outdoor seating and was brought to the area right next to the river. Definitely a nice view to enjoy some food. The waiter was busy, but he checked in to make sure the we were doing okay. We ordered the following: - Scallop & Wagyu: This is a small plate. The scallop was good, but the Wagyu tasted like regular beef. Even as a small plate and for the price, I expected a bit more food. It was still good though. - Sautéed Manilla Clams: This is a shared plate. The clams had a sweetness to it due to the grapefruit they put and I love how it adds to the flavor of the clams! Definitely would get this again. The bread was crispy and soft. - Pan Roasted Verlasso Salmon: This is a main entree. The salmon and vegetables were delicious and perfectly cooked/seasoned. Tried The Shore in Reno on a bit of an impromptu decision. The food overall was good, solid flavors and quality, but a couple of things missed the mark for me. We ordered the wagyu and scallops dish, and while it tasted fine, the description was a bit misleading. The portion and presentation weren't quite what I expected, especially for something labeled as "wagyu." It just didn't deliver the wow factor you'd hope for with that kind of item. We chose to sit in the bar area, along the back wall, and unfortunately, the service there felt inconsistent. While other parts of the restaurant seemed to be getting regular check-ins and faster attention, we had longer waits and a bit of a disconnected experience. One of the biggest letdowns was discovering they only serve oysters on certain days of the week. That detail wasn't clear beforehand, and it was honestly the main thing I was craving, so that was a real disappointment. That said, I know The Shore updates their menu and offerings regularly, so I'm open to giving it another try. We seated and continued to wait for about 10min before we approached to order food and was never asked if we wanted a drink. When the food finally arrived, all of the french fries were cold. My chicken fried steak underneath the gravy was so crunchy and burnt to a crisp. I couldn't eat any of the edges. I finally had to flag down my waiter to get a drink order in. (which mind you did not arrive until after the meal was brought) I ordered a vanilla latte which was void of any sugar, so I then had to add four packets, and it still tasted terrible and was cold. I'm writing this now and I haven't seen my waiter for like 1520 minutes. I wish I didn't have to mark them down two stars because the service was friendly. But here's the deal, made a reservation at 11am for Xmas eve. The girl on the phone somehow didn't enter the reservation. Fortunately, they were able to find us a booth and it was so adorable. And our waitress was awesome - friendly and didn't get anything wrong but as you can see from the pictures The Shore REALLY SKIMPED on the main entrees - look at the quail on the plate! That wouldn't even feed the smallest of women! The plates weren't under a heat lamp or if they were then the plates weren't heated and the lobster came out cold. Best thing on the menu was the crab and butternut squash bisque. read more

Great lunch sitting outside looking out at the beautiful Truckee river!! Grilled chicken breast sandwich was excellent and the garden salad with a burger patty on the side for an extra 5$ was yummy too. Burger was real deal beef patty seasoned and seared really nicely. Chicken breast was also seasoned very nicely and i ended up eating some of my wife's french fries because they looked too good ...... and they were!! Great place to sit outside on a beautiful day! I have a very special connection to this property and to The Shore Room. I was one of the very last few employees remaining at the former Holiday Hotel & Casino as it closed it's doors in the Fall of 1998. So, when my husband surprised me with reservations for Mother's Day brunch, I was overwhelmed by the gesture and the nostalgia. The setting is stunning, and the ambiance is old Reno glamour. In spite of an 11am reservation, we waited almost 20 minutes to be seated. The Mother's Day menu offered the typical breakfast fare like egg dishes and potatoes, bacon & sausage, fruit, etc. A few upgrades were present -1/2 slipper lobster tails and chilled shrimp and a carving station with prime rib & ham. Desserts, salads, the usual. For $75/pp, the overall experience was a bit of a let down. There were really no stand out dishes, everything seemed shockingly average. A few were quite disappointing - the eggs Benedict English muffins were almost burned and impossible to cut from being over chafing fuel, the rolls were hard and the poke was an off color on top, like it had been sitting out. On the way out I noticed plates of pizzas near the Rotunda, my kids might have actually eaten that LOL. The most surprising detail was there was no complimentary champagne (not even 1 glass!) or a flower or something for the moms! Mimosas or Bloody Mary's were a $25 add on, and not bottomless - for 1 hour. Our server was fine, and it was a lovely idea from my hubby, but a SPENDY meal. Out total bill was $370 with tip. I get it this is a Marriott property now, but this really delivered a standard casino buffet experience at Vegas prices. read more

Absolutely wonderful dinner! Service was kind and attentive and every dish we ordered was full of flavor, beautifully plated and well-executed Highly recommend the Barbacoa tacos, chicken thighs, and panzanella...these chefs are locked in!!! Desserts were interesting and inventive. I can't say enough about the white wine poached pear!!!! Reno is so lucky to have The Shore Room for its ambiance, interesting menu, and overall vibe. read more

Solid brunch fare, with delicious and generous mimosas. The weather was awful when I went. But I would love to go back when the weather is nice and sit put on the patio, which is right on the river. read more
