My onion rings were cold when they came so I only ate about three of them and left the rest there because I hate soggy cold onion rings. Everyone else really liked their food. My husband ordered a bratwurst, and he's been eating bratwurst for 50 years, and he said it didn't taste like a bratwurst, but it tasted like some other general sausage or something. There are games for the kids and my son was able to win enough tickets to get a bunch of little cheesy prizes which he has been playing with for over a week! That part was really nice. Yeah. It took about 20 minutes for an employee to come over to the counter where you pick your prizes or your child pick surprises and if we were there any other time we would've been extremely pissed off. But everyone was laid-back and so were we because we were watching the game. The last FIFA game between Spain and Argentina.. Which, by the way, Spain won.

Now here comes the part that was a bummer. Something was going on with their network so none of the games were working. Luckily since we had ordered drinks and food we had time to see if they would get it back up, but no good. We walked around at the Harbor and still nothing. Son was definitely sad, but he somewhat understood. I believe it was the manager, they helped us get a refund for the amount we loaded onto a card to play. Which when that happened they didn't sound to confident they had done it successfully. I believe we did get a refund for it. Overall, despite that, all the workers we encountered were nice and sweet. We will eventually go back and try it again.

Which is OK, but if there are no seats at the bar (there are perhaps enough seats at the bar for 14 or 15 people) you are out of luck. You stand or leave. And they appear to prefer you leave. In addition, the tables are all the way to the band which allows for no dance floor and the tables and chairs can't be moved even an inch. A couple of the staff and the female manager told me personally that they do not want dancers at their restaurant. They are a restaurant, so everyone who comes there is expected to both eat and drink and preferably "not dance." So, I and my friends who like to dance have found other places to dance. Other places who welcome and enjoy having us. It's a free country, so we exercised our choice to go somewhere else that is fun and friendly. Don't get me wrong, as there were some very friendly staff at the Boatyard Pub who enjoyed having us and we tipped them very well. But the manager and several of her staff are unfriendly especially to dancers and many of their other patrons. So, go.tbere at your own risk. You have been warned warned.

In my many years of writing reviews this is getting very boring, in a nutshell, just another sports bar. Egos out trump customer service, the "you are here to please me" attitude from diva,s from behind the bar and total lack of a warm welcome and eye contact does not help the cold atmosphere you get when you first walk in, for some ridiculous reason they have a poor young person standing behind what looks to be a parking valet desk doing absolutely nothing as everyone just walks right by her and grabs a seat at the bar or a table. As long as you have your friends with you and a game in mind its ok, dont expect any friendship here from the staff, they are too busy talking to themselves and there own cronies at the bar, you are not important as a customer When entering I found a seat at the end of the bar by the waitress station which is good if you want to hear the local gossip and excellent if you want to feel the vibe of the staff, "where is there focus?, themselves or the customer?", well you guest it..... themselves, I managed to listen through a few minutes of the usual staff chat, who,s doing who and what customer does not tip enough etc and finally after looking the the tall blond behind the bar for a few seconds without any welcome or thanks for coming in and a smile I got the usual "i dont care, my friends are here what do you want" response, no smile, no eye contact, nothing. I ordered a club and a 805 and continued to watch the bar staffs response to the customers, outside of their own friends nothing, the only time I got a response i had a mouthful of clubhouse and the bartender asked he "hows everything". Why the F@#$K do they do that?, Wait until Ive swallowed my food!!!!, ask me later! sheesh!. Its the same as most sports bar, testosterone,diva bartenders and egos, but out there are a few family owned sports bars that actually feel warm, George and Dragon in Seattle for one, Rileys in San Fran, I could go on, so don't give up, there out there....just not here. read more

For the main course we both had the filet mignon, rice and tomato slices. The fillet minion was EXCELLENT!! The steak was seasoned, tender and cooked to perfection; medium rare. I would definitely return if only for the filet mignon.

Our server was attentive, friendly, and always made sure we had everything we needed. The first thing that caught our attention was the self-serve wine dispensers lined with bottles ready to sample. We had a lot of fun walking back and forth, looking over the different selections, and deciding what to taste next. Being able to sample wines by the ounce before committing to a full glass made the whole experience feel interactive. I especially liked that I could compare different Cabernet Sauvignons side by side, which isn't something you get to do very often. After trying a few different Cabernets, Chimney Rock ended up being my favorite. The dining room added to the experience. The cave-like ceilings, warm lighting, and comfortably spaced tables made it easy to settle in, enjoy our lunch, and catch up without feeling cramped or rushed. If you enjoy trying different wines, it's easy to lose track of time here. We started with a cheese plate, which turned out to be much more generous than I expected. It came with a nice assortment of cheeses, crisp apple slices, grapes, candied walnuts, crostini, and a savory relish on the side. It was a great dish to share with our wine. My friend ordered the tuna poke tower, and we shared the cheese flatbread and sweet potato fries. I went with the Original Cave Salad with salmon, which came with a generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon over fresh greens, apples, grapes, walnuts, and blue cheese. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous enough that we left completely satisfied. One thing I appreciated was that we never felt rushed. Lunch naturally turned into an afternoon of catching up, comparing notes on the different wines, and deciding which pours we wanted to try next. Before we left, we wandered through the wine shop one more time. If you discover a favorite during lunch, you can pick up a bottle before heading home, which is a nice touch. I'm really glad my friend found this place. The next time I'm in Ventura, it'll definitely be on my list again.

We sat outside, but weren't told that there would be a band playing 10 minutes after we sat down - 15 feet form our table, with their PA system at 11. The band was okay, but the vocalist thought screaming was a solid plan to aid in digestion. It wasn't that busy but it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. They felt bad so they brought part of our order early, then said it would be another 6 minutes. It was more than 10. The server felt bad and halved out bill - but still. Then we saw the 3.5% added tax the Harbor District adds to the bill!!! WHAT?!?!? Needless to say, we won't be going back to Mrs. Olsen's and won't be eating at any restaurants in the Harbor District.
