    Steak & Ale pie. 6/28/26

Would like to give this place 3.5 stars. Food was a solid 3 while the service and staff were a 4. I had the steak and ale pie and while the mashed potatoes and top were nicely baked and the gravey underneath it was good, the steak was a bit tough and chewy. Our waitress on the other hand was very friendly and courteous. Since it was a warm afternoon she kept out water glasses full and brought us another glass for our dog. They gave a nice setup for outside dining and I prefer it it being inside.

We came in to catch the France and Morocco World cup game and enjoy a meal. It was warm inside even with their windows opened. We wanted to sit on the booth which was facing the TV screens but since we were a party of 3 the server asked us to leave that table for a later group that might come later. A group did come later, but they only had 2 people and the server didn't ask them to move... there was an unpleasant smell when we sat down at our table, it turned out to be the menus. The food arrived at a reasonable time and tasted good. Would have enjoyed it more if there weren't any flies buzzing around too.

My husband and I finally made it to Dargin's. We had an early lunch date and decided to eat at this charming Irish-themed restaurant. As we entered, we were the first ones there, so we were able to choose our seats. I opted for a booth, which offered a comfortable and great view of the entire restaurant. The ambiance of Dargin's was great. The overall decor gave a warm and inviting Irish charm. Our friendly and welcoming waitress promptly brought over our menus, and before we knew it, our drinks and appetizers arrived at our table. For our appetizers, I wanted to try something different from our usual appetizers. We decided to order the Tipperary appetizer, which was a creamy deep-fried chip and a rich, flavorful sauce. As for our main courses, we indulged in a chicken pot pie and the Fisherman's plate. Each dish was delicious, but the chicken pot pie stole the show. The flaky pastry and perfectly seasoned chicken soup were simply irresistible. To complement our meal, I had a blueberry Lemon drop martini, which was perfectly made! I wish I would've come here sooner! But I will definitely be back.

Staff was very friendly. I had previously only gone to dargans in the evening for drinks but decided to try out their lunch. I got a chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie was okay. There was not much flavor, but i still enjoyed the service and ambiance.

Took a little lunch date escape at Dargan's Irish Pub & Restaurant today, and if I closed my eyes, I could almost imagine I was in Cork, Dublin, or even Waterford for the day. The cozy pub vibes here always transport me, and the staff makes it even better. The gals here are bubbly, welcoming, and fun every time. I kicked things off with their Irish Bramble cocktail which includes gun-smoke gin, Chambord, and blackberry purée. A light and refreshing cocktail. Round two was a pint of Kilkenny Irish cream ale, and wow! I can't believe it took me this long to try it. Smooth, rich, and definitely a new favorite. We started with a creamy potato & leek soup, the perfect comfort food, and then split the fish & chips along with their legendary loaded potato skins. The batter on the fish was light but perfectly crispy, and those potato skins? Always a crowd-pleaser. I've ordered them a few times with friends and they always hit. Honestly, their appetizers alone are worth the trip, but if you're after true Irish fare, they've got plenty to keep everyone happy. Can't recommend this spot enough. Great Irish pub vibes in the heart of downtown Ventura. Cheers!

You come in and sit wherever you want! There were 3 TV screens playing the game. I decided to order the Leek & Potato Soup with the Chicken Pot Pie. The Chicken Pot Pie was tasty, especially with the golden brown flaky crust that you can dip into the sauce. I would say ordering the Leek & Potato Soup was a mistake since it was a creamy soup and adding that onto a creamy Chicken Pot Pie was too much. I do wish they used dark chicken meat instead of white but I'm having a really hard time finding a place that does dark meat. I'm excited to try the Shepherds Pie and other appetizers next time. Also shoutout to Gabriella for being an amazing waitress!

Lovely overcast day in downtown Ventura. Sat outside and enjoyed a Bkack Velvet and split a delicious Reuben sandwich.

Pretty quick service. The waitress was very nice and refilled our drinks quickly. The food was priced pretty reasonably. Nothing too expensive or too cheap. I will say everything I got lacked a bit of salt and pepper. They did have it on the table though which helped. The steak sandwich was good but a bit chewy.

Another visit and this time was quite nice. Our waitress, didn't remember her name but the nice southern accent from Alabama, she was a doll. Took care of us and was a gem. We got seated at one of the hi top tables along the strip. It was quite busy as Main Street was celebrating cinco de mayo (early) and the classic car show was also going on. Stuck to a pink of cider and lager. It was a slight wait for drinks but was ok. Majority of the people wanted to be outside as it was more lively so pretty busy. Started off with an order of the croquette which was quite tasty. Pretty sizable and came with an order of ranch and chipotle dipping sauce. As well as a side order of fries. Entrees, the classic Irish breakfast which we have had many of time. If you're hungry, this is a must. A plate full of baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, fried tomatoes, Irish sausage, potato croquette, fries, bacon, 2 eggs and brown bread. Quite tasty in my opinion. It's always good each and every time. Everything cooked perfectly and all goes very well. Regardless what time of day, you'll enjoy it.

I've been coming here for years, and just recently it's become a favorite date night spot for my girlfriend and I. Dargan's has always been consistently good, but our last visit was excellent. Everyone brought their A-game. We got to sit down by the fireplace and enjoy the occupied but not too loud section of the restaurant. It felt warm and inviting. The entire vibe of the restaurant is very pleasant. We started with the potato skins with homemade sour cream. A generous portion size for two people to share. We split a bowl of the amazing leak soup. I had a black and tan and she had a whisky sour. Both were refreshing. Finally for entrees I had the Mary Bridget pot pie and my girlfriend had the chicken pot pie. (It's her favorite and she has a hard time getting anything else haha). My Mary Bridget pot pie was outstanding. Piled high with mashed potatoes and a generous portion of hot filling. The lamb was tender and delicious. I'm usually very careful not to give away false praise for food, but it was (for me) perfect in every aspect. 10/10 absolutely no notes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The restrooms are clean and comfortable. If you're here on vacation or a local that's been in the fence, you need to come around and have some grub. You won't regret it.

Hadn't been here in years ! So happy we stopped by during Dia de Los Muertos celebration in Downtown Ventura. We ordered a few drinks and apps . Everything was great . My drink was $11 and not watered down like at other establishments. I really enjoyed it . The potatoes skins were also really good ! Our server , Carley was amazing . Super friendly and attentive . We sat at the patio but there's plenty of seating inside . Glad Downtown Main Street is still closed to cars as I liked sitting outside . This place has invested in having a nice patio, so it would be sad to see it torn down.

Loved this place!!! A fantastic menu, a cool vibe, great food, & exceptional service!!! We decided 2 try a few cocktails & they were good. My only complaint was that they didn't seem 2 have much alcohol in them, but the flavors were great! We tried 3 appetizers & LOVED all of them!!! The waitress was attentive & friendly!!! I would recommend this spot!!!!

We moved to Ventura in July and I've kind of avoided this place because I haven't really been a fan of Irish food. We finally tried it today because we saw they had other options. SO good! I had their Blackberry Twisted Lemon Drop which was fantastic!!! Lemon Drop is my go-to, and this might be the best one I've had. I want to try the Peach next time. I very hesitantly ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. I'm extremely picky about Chicken Pot Pie (I like it with less seasoning so I can taste the ingredients rather than a lot of seasoning). It was also some of the best I've ever had. The service was excellent, the atmosphere is VERY comfortable. Love this place so much.

But if you go to dance, be advised the Boatyard wants people to come to eat and drink (not to dance). They have a dance floor that is extremely small and carpeted which has servers walking though it every few minutes. For those who come over to buy drinks and dance, they must sit at the bar (no tables). Which is OK, but if there are no seats at the bar (there are perhaps enough seats at the bar for 14 or 15 people) you are out of luck. You stand or leave. And they appear to prefer you leave. In addition, the tables are all the way to the band which allows for no dance floor and the tables and chairs can't be moved even an inch. A couple of the staff and the female manager told me personally that they do not want dancers at their restaurant. They are a restaurant, so everyone who comes there is expected to both eat and drink and preferably "not dance." So, I and my friends who like to dance have found other places to dance. Other places who welcome and enjoy having us. It's a free country, so we exercised our choice to go somewhere else that is fun and friendly. Don't get me wrong, as there were some very friendly staff at the Boatyard Pub who enjoyed having us and we tipped them very well. But the manager and several of her staff are unfriendly especially to dancers and many of their other patrons. So, go.tbere at your own risk. You have been warned warned.

We were ready to walk out, but our drinks finally arrived. I suggested we ask for the check sooner than later, considering how long it took to get our drinks. (Others who arrived after us did not seem to have to wait as long as we did.) Moments later, the vibe completely turned around when the bartender blew a conch shell to award a patron a Ventiki fez, accomplished after drinking all 60 cocktails on their in-house passport. That energy really helped recapture any aloha we felt upon arriving and we ended up staying for hours and chatting with staff. The place redeemed itself. We promised to return with some friends shortly who were driving through Ventura. We stepped out to grab coffee while waiting for our friends to arrive. We were excited to show them this place. When our friends got there around 4pm, they received an incredibly cold greeting at the entrance. They sent us a text and we told them we were a block away having just picked up a coffee and heading their way. When we all arrived together, a bouncer was at the front stand, boorish and inhospitable... his immediate attitude was downright insulting. (He wasn't around when we were there earlier.) He had previously refused to seat our friends at a table for four--even though we were just a block away--demanded we throw away our coffees, and asked us for ID. (My husband and I are in our late 50s/early 60s, and friends late 40s.) We literally had just been there for a couple hours and spent a good amount of money. Sure, I understand places have policies, but this attitude was COMPLETELY different than when we were there earlier. The bouncer was a self-important jerk about the whole thing. We went from giving them a second chance after they rekindled the aloha spirit to being completely turned off by the bouncer's egomaniacal attitude. Again, 4pm Sunday, no line or anything. Not some nightclub. Utterly unnecessary brute at the front. Rude and completely uninviting customer service. We ended up going down the street to a local brewpub that welcomed us, no attitude, no carding, and they didn't bat an eye at our coffee cups. AND when we parted ways with our friends, they told us they swung by Ventiki to talk to the manager. The manager told them she supports her bouncer and was unapologetic. If there was a society for tiki lounges with a membership card, this place should have their card revoked. They are not worthy. Tearing up the fez passport I started and will never set foot in there again.
