Looked packed the night before we went so we decided to try it. It was dead at 7pm on a Saturday. We stayed. I ordered an old fashioned which was good but for a $14 drink you need the real dark cherries if you want to charge that much. My husband got a red breast double. They charged us $40!! You can buy a bottle for $60-70.... Insane. Bread was good. I got the braised short ribs. Very good but not $40 good. My husband got the jh strip and it was so thin that it would have taken 3 to be a normal steak. The food tasted good but for the money it was not worth it. Service was fine. This place had some great entertainment!! We walked in one night but were too tired to stay. So, we decided to come back the next night. The band was really great. They were better than some concert performers I have seen. They were from Colorado and had driven to Jackson just for this performance. The performers change all the time though, so they probably will not be back any time soon. Anyway, we got seats at the bar. This place gets packed quickly. We only ordered drinks and not any food. Honestly, the food does not seem like what we would like. It looked okay but we were happy to just order drinks. I remember the bartender had a bit of an attitude. All in all, this is a really fun place to be. I am not sure if you would call it a honky think bar....I do not have enough experience with those to know. Just had a very good meal. The burgers are very good. The chili was great and my friend had the elk sliders.... All very very good. WORST waitress I have had anywhere in years. I asked what she recommended because everything looked good.. her answer to me, "I'm a vegetarian, I don't know." We are in Jackson hole Wyoming. Meat and beef mecca. And she can't recommend anything. Delivered each item by tossing it on the table and walking away. Then asked if we wanted desert. I ate here on a recent trip to Jackson, WY with my wife and mother in law. Overall, the staff was nice, but the food was mediocre at best. Further the speed of the service was poor. The reason why we chose this restaurant is that it was open before many of the other restaurants in the Jackson downtown area. We were hungry and it was before many of the other restaurants opened at 11:30 am. We arrived here at 10:50 am. We asked if we could sit outside, but were told we could not as the outside area was only for lunch service, and that we could not be seated for lunch as their brunch service was still going on, and lunch did not start until 11:00 am. We're decided that since it was nearly 11:00 am, that we would wait. They seated us in their bar area to wait. At just 11:00 am we asked a female staff member, whom would later become our server, if we could be seated outside. She told us yes, and seated us a table outside. A few moments later, a male server approached us and informed us that we "couldn't just sit down," and that we needed to be seated by a staff member. After we informed him we had been seated by another staff member, he relented. So far, not perfection, but not terrible. Shortly thereafter, our server took our order, but if informed us that the kitchen was shifting from brunch to lunch and there might be some delays. I ordered fish n' chips, but only because the restaurant was out of elk meat needed to make the elk gyros I originally wanted. My wife ordered the small plate of nachos. My mother in law ordered a cheese burger and fries. I will admit that I have not worked in food service, and understand that there be some sort of transition from a brunch service to lunch service, but my fish and chips and my wife's nachos were not served until 11:45 (45 minutes after seating and 55 minutes after we arrived at the restaurant). Moreover, at this time, my mother in law's cheese burger and fries were nowhere in sight. Several times, our server apologized for the delay in my mother in law's order assured us that the cheese burger and fries would be served soon. Around noon, the server told us the cheese burger was being "assembled." In the meantime, we were hungry, and my wife and I began to eat. My mother in law shared the nachos with my wife as she was very hungry at this point as well. The food itself was disappointing. My fish, while fried decently, was overcooked. My fries were ok, but not great. The chicken from my wife's nachos was tough and stringy. Both of our dishes were subpar. The saga of the missing cheese burger continued. To her credit, our server offered to get my mother some other food, but my mother in law decline as she wanted the cheese burger specifically. At one point, I saw another table served a burger and fries my mother in law's cheese burger was still tardy. Then, without request, our server brought to the table a cup of tomato, rice and chicken soup. My mother in law did want this soup nor did she request it. The soup so-so, at best. Finally, at 12:25, we asked the server to cancel the order for the cheese burger and fries and bring us the check. The server complied. After paying, and the server profusely apologizing, the server brought my mother in law the cheese burger and fries in a to go box. Ultimately, we were not charged for it. If you are keeping score, that's more than one hour and 25 minutes from the time we were seated with no cheese burger and fries. To her credit, our server was very nice, genuinely concerned about the absent burger, and, at the end of the day, made things right. However, waiting 45 minutes for fish 'n chips and nachos is not acceptable. Moreover, the mysterious delay in the cheese burger and fries just too much. While I am still interested in the elk gyros that I never got to have, and our server was a decent and nice person, this restaurant belongs on the avoid list. read more

I highly suggest the bartenders margarita and a cup of their famous corn chowder soup! I had every intention of revisiting this place, not once but twice and didn't. I wanted to check out their Tuesday Bluegrass band but got back to my hotel and never wandered back. The next day one of their bartenders spotted me in a nearby shop and noted I never came back in the night before. This was probably one of the highlights of my trip, that -people actually notice people- feeling. That's the sort of service you may not expect to receive here just walking in and grabbing a drink at the bar, but it speaks to their staff and service which later made me appreciate my visit that much more. Great spot! Not to be missed!!! and I loved every Mae West quote in the women's restroom ;) Definitely returning, not once, or twice, but probably at least three times on my next trip to make up for the two times I meant to wander back in. read more

Silver Dollar Make ya Holla! Wooohooo! This is such a cool cowboy Western bar. It's part of the Wort Hotel. Wort is technically the term for un-fermented beer. Lemme tell ya- the beer they have here is all fully fermented. I came in for a cold one and to check out the place to satisfy my numismatic curiosity. Indeed, the bar has scores of silver dollars covering the place- if you check closely, you'll see that all the silver dollars were minted in the same year. Whoa. What is it with the State of Wyoming and silver dollars? The decor here is the best thing about the place. It's historic, so there's all kinds of old photos around here of the place, and of Jackson. You can tell that a lot of beers have been downed at this bar. They sell a list of local beers, in cans or bottles, including the Snake River Brewery which is down the street. They have food, but I didn't get to try any of that. The restrooms were super clean, large, and luxurious. Best restrooms in town. Hats off to the cleaning crew here. Everything was spotless and shiny. Possibly the best restroom I saw in the entire state of Wyoming. When I went, they had a live band kickin', playing honky tonk music, cranking out some Hank Williams songs- everyone was dancing. Such a great time. read more

The Silver Dollar Bar is located in Jackson Hole's historic Wort Hotel. My friends and I stopped in a few times during our stay in Jackson. The name comes from the bar that is covered in silver dollars! The history of the hotel is interesting and makes me want to learn more about the history of JH. On our first visit, we were there pretty early in the day so we got a seat at the bar right away. I ordered a drink with huckleberry vodka and it was delicious! Not too sweet, with a light berry flavor and lemonade. They have great daily specials on food and drinks, too. Our bartender was efficient and quick and he taught us the rules of Shake A Day, a Yahtzee gambling game that involves the winner buying the whole bar a round of drinks! We also stopped in on a Thursday when they had a live band and dancing. The dance floor area isn't huge but we had fun dancing, and even more fun watching other people dance. It wasn't super busy that night but we ended up waiting a really long time to get our checks. Then we waited even longer for our server to come grab our cards to pay... so long that we finally scraped together enough cash to pay and tip so we could leave! We stopped in a final time on a busy Friday night. The place was super packed but we still managed to get on the dance floor. It's nice when they have music because they don't charge cover. I had fun each time going to the Silver Dollar even with very different experiences each time. It's definitely a must-do when you're visiting because it's so much fun to watch people dancing and have a couple drinks in this super historic place. read more

Located inside the Wort Hotel in Downtown Jackson Hole we found this gem by inquiring to another tourist carrying a container of leftovers on our walking path We just left a Mexican cantina closed for the evening with no explaton on their sign. The silver dollar had the atmosphere of an old time saloon with the exception of all the tv screens. We were able to seat ourselves in the bar area Our server was terrific even on this busy eve. I couldn't choose between the Ruben sandwich or the meatloaf and asked her opinion. She said she'd go for a Ruben any day of the week, so there was my answer. My partners in crime chose a Bison Burger and a regular beef patty. Everyone enjoyed their meals, although the Bison Burger was not as flavorful as expected. We were told Bison meat is very lean giving it less taste than beef. I don't fault the restaurant as we had not ever had Bison so there was nothing to compare. Our sides were tasty, especially the potato salad loaded with hard boiled eggs and mayo. I caught a glimpse of two plated prime rib dinners at the next table. Wow.. they looked amazing! My favorite was the ginger beer served in a brown glass bottled by Cock and Bull. What a great name and the best I've tasted. I brought home half my Ruben. It was a huge sandwich and the calories were worth every bite. They even packed me up some extra thousand island dressing. I left out the door spending under $20 which suited me just fine. We only had one more eve in town and were determined to find Mexican or we would have been back there for sure. Totally recommend this place for the fun atmosphere and good food. read more

Great food, great service, and the nostalgia of the restaurant in the famed Wort Hotel makes for an overall great experience. My friend and I ate here a couple of times during our stay. They have great drink specials at the bar and the menu will please any palate. I enjoyed the Rocky Mountain Trout with chorizo, wild rice, and asparagus. The trout was fresh tasting and the chorizo was a perfect compliment. My friend had the Salmon which she said was okay but I think she was expecting more mustard sauce with it. It was cooked perfectly though. On another visit I had a bowl of their bison chili. It's spicy and hearty, just the way I like it. Highly recommend! We had few drinks at the bar several times during our stay too. You can also eat at the bar which is inlaid with Liberty silver dollars, really cool. They play music during the week on their stage in the corner of the dining room. Check the calendar. Definitely visit if you're in town! read more

If it's later in the evening in the summer, I highly suggest grabbing an outdoor table at The Silver Dollar Bar and Grill. It's your old school bar on the inside. But what we loved was the outdoor sidewalk seating (due to COVID). At least COVID is pushing restaurants to get creative with their seating options. We loved listening to the live band inside, yet being able to have a conversation. Seating is limited, so either call ahead or roll up on the earlier side for dinner like we did. If you did some outdoor hiking or activities, you'll probably be hungry earlier. The meal is fantastic, especially the bison short rib with mashed potatoes. As we started to go outside we asked if I could bring our menu outside . The bartender and the one slow moving Waitress didn't follow us out with a menu. Inside she just turned her back and started chatting with the Bartender. We waited finally she brought water. No menu, No silverware. Finally 10 min later another waitress came and brought a menu. I ordered the One Elk Slider and slaw. My granddaughter ordered a side salad and A wrap she asked for chicken rather than Elk . She also asked for red wine vinegar for her salad. The waitress was lost and brought a cream dressing and she insisted it was red Wine . The burger was Ok. My Elk slider was dry. No flavor. The Iconic Silver Dollar was again a Big disappointment . Please train your wait staff. 61.00 plus tip. The kitchen staff. Are you just hiring a Body. The waitstaff should be fired . She should have offered me a replacement or taken it off my check . My Daughter use to manage the Silver Dollar. It had a lot more class and the staff use to actually care about excellent service. read more

Had an excellent business lunch here! We were able to eat outside on the patio and there was just enough sun to make the temperature perfect. We were seated quickly and the service was good. This is located in the Wort Hotel close to the main downtown square of Jackson Hole.Parking can be a little tricky, but we were able to snag a spot on the street. I ordered the veggie burger and subbed sweet potato fries. The veggie burger was one of the best I have ever had. Sometimes you get frozen patties that they try to grill or unthaw and they taste terrible. This one was fresh and almost fell apart because they had just made it! I added avocado which I thought was a nice touch. The sweet potato fries were extra but were worth it! Check it out when you are downtown Jackson! My husband and I had dinner here and we should've stayed sitting at the bar (grill side) because our bartender was very friendly and we enjoyed our time. However, we moved to the restaurant side (bar side) to have dinner. We both got a steak and it was honestly the worst steak we've ever had. It was cooked and looked like it was cooked again, they were both burnt and hard to even chew. We told the waitress when she asked how everything was, we mentioned our steak was too done and she looked at it and said it looked fine. This was one of the only restaurants opened for a "nice" dinner given it was our anniversary and a lot of places were closed due to off season so it was pretty disappointing. We are staying at The Wort hotel so decided to dine at their Silver Dollar restaurant. The hotel is amazing so we had the same expectations for the restaurant. Big oopsie. We received our appetizer pretty quickly but no silverware so had to go ask the hostess for some. We ordered our dinner within 5 minutes of sitting down and it took a full hour to receive our dinner. FYI we were one of TWO tables in the restaurant. The chicken quesadilla is subpar. Husband ordered the wings and wild game meatballs. The wings were horrible and the meatballs very average. My husband never lets food go to waste and he ate one of four meatballs. We spoke to a manager (for the record I've been a server before and I HATE speaking to a manager). She comped our food and we only had to pay for the wine, and she was very nice, but just beware if you're heading here that you'll be waiting a while for pretty meh food. read more
