Made a reservation for my birthday and no one mentioned it or checked? I think our waitress was having an off night...Not sure what happened there, no biggie the food we ordered and was great! The hotel it was in was also beautiful. We were hoping for a whistling Grizzly T shirt, my husband loved the logo but they didn't have any Maybe next time :)

A favorite to locals this restaurant is conveniently located adjacent to a hotel and definitely off the beaten path of the Main Street tourist restaurant strip. Dedicated parking makes it easy to access this location in the heart of a busy Jackson Hole downtown area. Offering a really nice selection of American meat staples, there is a bonus selection of game and local fish dishes that are offered on a rotating basis. Cozy, lodge-like setting, makes for a nice quiet dinner for date night! Our servers we're super friendly and made great suggestions that resulted in a wonderful meal. A great value for the money, some creative twists on traditional menu items, you can't go wrong!

Stopped here on a trip to Jackson. The ambience was unimpressive. Felt like more of a diner than a fine dining establishment. Food was so so. Not good, not bad, just average. Beverages were lacking. Wine was not my favorite. Fish was a little better. Cheesecake was good, but nothing spectacular. Those dining with me had beef which was slightly better, but not worth what they are charging. That's my honest review.

Yes, you can chew the bone " they encourage it there!"

What a wonderful way to end our trip. I made reservations ahead of time, which was great. I didn't know that this was part of the hotel but after we got in the restaurant, it didn't matter. The service was off the charts. Wayne did an excellent job of welcoming us giving us great Recommendations drinks, Service the water glass was always full. He went out of his way to make sure to celebrate my son's birthday, which was extra special. We ended up getting the bison special, which was the 30 ounce Tomahawk, which we all three shared it was an epic evening to share such a wonderful decadent meal. It was off the charts we sure enjoyed our trip to Jackson hole in. This was just a wonderful way to send us off. Thanks again, wayne Highly recommend this place. It was super fun and a lovely evening.

Food and service is outstanding. We had the trout, the burger and the chicken dishes - all amazing. Highly recommend!

Went there for dinner as we wanted a Restaurant that served bison. They did not disappoint. It's a small boutique restaurant in a hotel lobby but don't pass on it. The Bison Tomahawk on a bone was delicious. It came with roasted Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes with 3 sauces on the side which fed 4 of us! And just wow!! We also ordered bison bone marrow and elk tartare was also delicious along with a wedge salad and a bottle of wine. Thank you Marcus and the chefs for a delicious meal.

    "Toasted" bread

We arrived with no reservation, but the hostess did offer us to sit at the only high table by the entrance - so we decided to take it. We like to travel to different states and visit steakhouses so we figured this is a good place to try out since the reviews were pretty decent. We ordered 2 drinks, the soups of the day (potato soup), the ribeye, and a side of toast. The service started off good. They brought us the soup, which was good, but not hot - we didn't say anything. We got our bread (that we wanted to eat with the soup) and got a plate of coal.... So this "toasted" bread went through 2-3 ppl... the cooks and the server. So you mean to tell me that the these people saw this toast and were like "f*ck it, just give it to them." ? I got the attention of the host and when he came over, without me saying a word, he saw the bread and said "oh yeah its pretty burnt" and took it away, No apology or anything... After we returned the toast the service was really mute and timid. The steak was cooked well, luckily, but was under seasoned. I hope all the guests that arrive at your establishment get treated with the same dignity as the ones that were present while we were there.

Stopped at Whistling Grizzly for dinner. Service was great, and the food was very good. Got the bone marrow (very yummy) and the 45 day aged Bison tomahawk. Steak was cooked medium rare perfectly, but they cut the steak without asking me- I prefer to cut my own $120 steak, which is main reason I can't give them a 5star review.

The name is disguised as "an entry point with a first number") tour starting at Mt. Rushmore with multiple stops in between ending at the Grand Tetons. This was our final ending meal together. First, I know the management prepared for us. We had to select the entrees a couple of days before. Second, we were seated next to the circular wall towards the street, very accommodating. Noise factor was good to excellent because of the high ceilings (the industrial look you know with exposed duct work now popular.) Third, finally the food what you really want to know... All of us had the house salad. It was lightly dressed which I appreciated since some restaurants over dress or use a harsh vinaigrette. I had their beef steaks which the tour written description was a fillet, restaurant menu list as a ribeye. I 'm not going to complain because it was accurately seared. I asked for mine medium and another asked for medium well. Both were slightly under which was good. Presentation was excellent they did change from sweet potatoes to a couscous ( I think) which was a good switch and tasty. My spouse had the rainbow trout and it was amazing! It a good size, as again presentation was great! Tasted good too! Not dry. Another person had the truffle pasta and there was a poached egg on top. What a surprise! They said it tasted good! If you want someone on the other menu section of yelp list just what was offered to us with a detailed description. The dessert was their donut holes (very crispy and tasty) with three dipping sauces. We had soft drinks and there was a double pour. Every thing came out in a timely manner! Amazing again for such a large group. Check'm out, they're good!

Unfortunately, the bar was painfully slow. Our first round of drinks took about 15 minutes, and the second took closer to 30 minutes after ordering. We eventually had to check in to make sure they were even coming. The food was fine, but not something we'd come back for. The elk pasta lacked the depth and richness you expect from a bolognese. The trout--poblano stuffed and curry-prepared--was an interesting idea, but the curry completely overpowered the fish, making the dish feel unbalanced. We had curry-dusted trout at The Blue Lion earlier in the week that was far better. (One of the best trout meals I've ever had.)

We ordered the pastrami Reuben with fries and ended up splitting it between the two of us. It was absolutely delicious and VERY hearty. The portions here are definitely generous, and one meal was plenty for two people for us. One thing that really stood out was how creative the food seems to be. This doesn't feel like a restaurant simply following the standard pub menu. Several of the dishes sounded like things they've experimented with, developed, and really made their own. There seems to be a lot of creativity and personality behind the menu. The sauce served with our Reuben was especially good. It reminded me of a cross between Thousand Island and a Big Mac-style sauce, but with its own flavor. Whatever it was, it was top-notch and went perfectly with the sandwich. The atmosphere is definitely that of a true bar/pub. We aren't drinkers, and alcohol is obviously a major focus here, from the decor to the overall feel of the restaurant. If you're not a drinker, you may feel a little out of place in the main bar area, so that is something to know going in. That being said, they do have a separate side dining room away from the main bar area, as well as a patio that looked like it would be a wonderful place to sit, eat, and enjoy the beautiful Wyoming scenery. The building itself is definitely older and a little worn down. It appeared clean on the surface, but you can tell the restaurant has seen a lot of use over the years and could probably benefit from some updating and a little extra attention in certain areas. At the same time, the rustic, well-used feel does fit the personality of a longtime local pub. Our one meal came to $25.68, so it is certainly on the pricier side for a sandwich and fries. However, this is Jackson Hole, and higher prices are somewhat expected in a tourist town. Considering how large the portions were, the price was a little easier to justify. Overall, The Bird is a fun, quirky, very casual place with huge portions and some surprisingly creative food. The pastrami Reuben was delicious, the sauce was fantastic, and I would definitely order it again.
