We've never had elk so we didn't know what to expect, but it was SO good. Not gamey and great flavor. Our server was knowledgeable , respectful, and made our dining experience great. Dined here and had a mixed experience. The Buffalo Pops were the highlight. They were very tender, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. I would recommend those without hesitation. The salmon was disappointing. It came out raw in the middle, and even after sending it back, parts were still undercooked. That took away from the meal, especially at this price point. The restaurant itself is very small, but we were still able to get a table without a reservation. Prices felt high for what you get. On the positive side, our server was friendly and handled the situation well, even offering a free beer for the trouble. This review is only for breakfast. We ate there a couple of times for breakfast and we were disappointed. Our group ordered a couple of the entrees and they were not very good. The biscuits were hard and tasted doughy, the pancakes tasted like they were not cooked long enough in the microwave, and the french toast was hard. Not one to typically choose a restaurant inside a hotel, the reviews got me on this one. The service was very friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to extend our reservation time at the last minute. Decor is classic Jackson Hole. Overall, the food was tasty, although I did find the salad overdressed. We split the burger which was delicious. Would definitely recommend it. Having dined at Glorietta, Kanpai, all of the Four Seasons restaurants.and the Bistro at the Cloudveil, this was far and above the worst. As you enter the decor is downtrodden and sullen. Seating for about 8 parties exist under the dim lights of impending doom. The French waiter vascillated between passive and aggressive. He was rude, then overly congenial. Even in Paris, Monaco, and aix en Provence we did not experience such atrocious service. So many better places to try game than a place where one person is serving the whole restaurant and it is a game to get his attention. read more

What a wonderful way to end our trip. I made reservations ahead of time, which was great. I didn't know that this was part of the hotel but after we got in the restaurant, it didn't matter. The service was off the charts. Wayne did an excellent job of welcoming us giving us great Recommendations drinks, Service the water glass was always full. He went out of his way to make sure to celebrate my son's birthday, which was extra special. We ended up getting the bison special, which was the 30 ounce Tomahawk, which we all three shared it was an epic evening to share such a wonderful decadent meal. Went there for dinner as we wanted a Restaurant that served bison. They did not disappoint. It's a small boutique restaurant in a hotel lobby but don't pass on it. The Bison Tomahawk on a bone was delicious. It came with roasted Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes with 3 sauces on the side which fed 4 of us! And just wow!! We were staying at the Wyoming Inn so we decided to try out their restaurant. We were absolutely blown away by how incredible it was! Restaurants in hotels can be hit or miss but this is definitely worth going to even if you're not staying there. We had the elk tenderloin, the burger, and the trout dip. And the chocolate mousse for dessert! I had never had elk before but it was melt in your mouth cooked at medium rare and was not game-y at all. Highly recommend for a less filling entree! My dad said the burger was incredible and it came with literally like three portions of fries on the side which I absolutely appreciated - our waiter Jean Paul said that was purposeful for sharing purposes haha. Mousse was the perfect way to end the meal. Also Jean Paul was absolutely fantastic so if you're lucky you'll get him! The restaurant is quite small with no formal bar space (but you can get drinks and sit at a high top table). They also have HUGE entree options - big cuts of meat that we saw at neighboring tables so that's fun too! read more

We like to travel to different states and visit steakhouses so we figured this is a good place to try out since the reviews were pretty decent. We ordered 2 drinks, the soups of the day (potato soup), the ribeye, and a side of toast. The service started off good. They brought us the soup, which was good, but not hot - we didn't say anything. We got our bread (that we wanted to eat with the soup) and got a plate of coal.... So this "toasted" bread went through 2-3 ppl... the cooks and the server. So you mean to tell me that the these people saw this toast and were like "f*ck it, just give it to them." ? I got the attention of the host and when he came over, without me saying a word, he saw the bread and said "oh yeah its pretty burnt" and took it away, No apology or anything... After we returned the toast the service was really mute and timid. The steak was cooked well, luckily, but was under seasoned. I hope all the guests that arrive at your establishment get treated with the same dignity as the ones that were present while we were there. read more

Exotic mushroom with burrata cheese pasta was extraordinary. The ribeye melted in our mouth. And the crab cake and seafood chowder were A+++. Don't let this location being in a hotel deter you. We did stay at this hotel for a week, and the hotel was great but the restaurant is what really shines. It's been a month since we got back and I still can't stop thinking about the food we got there. Executive Chef Mathew Viereck came out and talked about the inspiration behind the dishes and was simply amazing. During our stay I think we are the entire breakfast menu and multiple dinners. Our waitress Kimi was always tentative and super friendly! A+ We will be back next year and will definitely stay at the hotel again just to make sure we are as close as possible to the food! My wife and i were traveling through Jackson and needed a good breakfast before heading west to Idaho and Oregon. Whistling Grizzly made me want to stick around longer. The restaurant, inside a very nice hote,l was quiet and not very busy on a Wednesday morning. Our server, Drew, was totally personal and professional and took perfect care of us. The menu is not cluttered with dozens of variations on a theme, and this made it easy to choose. My wife specified how she wanted her bacon done (crispy) and that's exactly how it was delivered. I don't understand all the great reviews. This place is average. We had dinner there and it was meh. I've found that the food in Jackson isn't that good, so in a sea of mediocre food, maybe this place stands out. It is quite expensive and not worth the money. The trout dip was good. My trout entree was just okay, nothing special. The fries that came with the burger looked great, but were dry when you bit into them. The carrot cake was ok as well - nothing earth shattering. The blood orange crème brûlée was not good - too thin, and flavor wasn't good. I've never had bad crème brûlée, but in Jackson, we had mediocre crème brûlée twice - once here and once at Kampai. Not sure why they can't get it right. The service was great. Ambiance is ok - pretty small place and you can hear what the people are saying at the table next to you. We ate here once during our stay; we won't come back, as there are better places to eat in Jackson. read more

What a great place to end our 2 week vacation in the 3 National Parks! The service was excellent! Our server could not have been better! With his attention to our cocktail choices and his description of the menu items and specials, he got us off to a great start. The delicious soup was cream of asparagus and parsnips. The food was attractively plated-especially my beautiful burrata salad. The 4 of us enjoyed pork tenderloin, elk and a beef burger. All were very good. Ok, not kidding, this fine dining experience is off the charts good. The restaurant is called the Whistling Grizzly, gets 5 stars on Yelp. I'd give it 6 stars! Ski trip, four hard core skiers in our 60's, not our first rodeo. We walk in with a 6pm reso. There is nobody there. Hmm? Well we order our drinks and apps from Wayne the sole front man, a cool cat from Yardley PA. Drinks are stout. Apps? Jaw dropping good. So good we send a double sawbuck back to the chef. Dinners were just delicious. I had the Elk and another had a steak (can't remember it's name, non-tradional) melted like butter on his mouth. Prices for Jackson were very good. The hotel lobby right outside the dining area is filled with some of the best Teton photos I've seen. The bathroom was so nice looking I could have slept there.
