Great place to see a live show...no doubt about it...they also get a great array of cover bands

I can only recommend this place to see live music. Great space for local bands. They recommend making a dinner reservation to secure a table if you are seeing the show. DO NOT do this. The food was not even good for bar food. Shared a Caesar salad w/grilled (4) shrimp. Overpriced (+$25), over dressed and deep fried croutons LOADED with oil. Ordered the peach & burrata flatbread with speck. Just ok. Dough tasted frozen and bland. Husband had pulled pork sandwich. Merely mediocre. As for drinks, I recommend you drink soda. I usually order Prosecco but they served Elmo Pio and charged $14 a glass. GROSSLY overpriced not to mention TERRIBLE Prosecco. There are many superior reasonably priced alternatives on the market today. So, I ordered a Pinot Grigio. I thought it was the safest choice. Turns out it was awful. As for service...incredibly slow and not very good to add insult to injury. The majority of my professional experience is in the restaurant/service industry so I'm not just a patron, I know what I'm talking about. My recommendation for this restaurant/bar/music venue... Eat before you go. Drink soda. Enjoy some great local music. read more

What a cool place, and area overall! We came for the band - BIG SANDY AND HIS FLY RITE BOYS - but ate there as well. I loved the chill (mainly) black decor and space! The food itself .... I ordered a catfish po boy and subbed the fries for a side salad. The side salad was plain, yet very good. The sandwich was interesting ... not on a long roll (but a burger bun) and only a small piece of catfish was present. It had some tasty "mystery" ingredients. It was kind of good, just not what I expected. (I was still hungry afterward too) ... The band - BIG SANDY AND THE FLY RITE BOYS - were phenomenal! Incredibly smooth voice and such talented musicians!!! Great (professional) sound and "Sandy" was super interactive and damned funny, plus nice too! The opening band were very good as well! (Forget the name!!!) Every single band member of both bands were dressed impeccably and looked amazing. What a pleasure to be vibing with these crazy talented men / bands! My honey is friends with one of the guitar players in BIG SANDY and I loved meeting and talking with him (Ashley)! He made his guitar alive - it sounded insane! Id love to come back for them again in the future or to see another band and to explore this adorable area (lots of quaint shops). Bring a sweater and don't go too hungry! read more

Nice place with good cocktails and food. We sat outside and really enjoyed the music and vibe. Service was great, bussers coming by as soon as we were finished with our plates, constantly refilling our waters. Cocktails were fantastic. We ordered the coconut shrimp which I thought was a bit over cooked but had a great sauce. I had the mahi tacos which were very good; the mahi was cooked well. Don't order the catfish sandwich. At $25 it was small, tasted mostly like fried bread crumb, and was unimpressive. We also made the mistake of arriving at sound check around 6pm. I understand sound checks are necessary, but this particular band wanted to rehearse. I've been here before, and enjoyed myself, but not last week. read more

Don't bother making a dinner reservation before a show, awful experience. The food was mediocre and we got seated at a low top table near the front. On the surface, that sounds OK, but all the people who didn't pay their insane prices for food and drinks ended up standing in front of us blocking our view of the show that we essentially paid a premium to see. Seriously, save your money. If you really want to see a show here, go for the show only. read more

This is a really cool spot, I went with some friends for their open mic night. We reserved a table in advance so we were able to order food and drinks! The had quite a few veggie friendly options, l got the falafel pita wrap which was really delicious. I also the Main Line 75 cocktail which was pretty good too (I would have preferred it to have gin rather than vodka but I would still order again). The performers were great and it was a really fun way to spend a Wednesday night out! It looks like the have lots of live music and cool events, so I would love to check out more! read more

Although very over priced we were pretty impressed with our food. I read reviews ahead of time and did the research to know what not to order and what to order. The 118 burger did not disappoint. Surprisingly delicious and very filling. It's a double burger which is my favorite. And has Taylor pork roll on it which I've never tried before. I don't even like pork roll but this was delicious! The fries were also amazing. My bf loved his cuban - the bread looked great. We ended Up getting the last chocolate olive oil cake - it was really more like a brownie not cake. It was really big we shared it but I could've downed it on my own lol. It was amazing... the espresso beans and fresh cream and cherries were delightful. Such a good dessert. Who's mad at this place. Music is always a good time at a bar especially when it's good music. You're gonna get a crowded spot and service is gonna be difficult the more crowded it gets. Yes they took a hot minute to clear the tables or flag em down for more drinks but it all gets done. Eat first before the show starts of you want a good spot and put up with the crowd once a show starts and enjoy the vibes. As for food we all enjoyed everything we orders. It's pretty great for a bar establishment. Prices weren't tooooo horrible for some good food. We got the brisket nachos, chicken flatbread pizza, coconut shrimp and sweet potatoes. All were winners in my eyes. Dudes especially loved the sweet potatoes and nachos. Me too. Excellent Gastro pub meats super cool music venue. Even if you are not a live music person you might want to swing in for a meal here. Let's start with food. The season inspired menu keeps their popular standerds while mixing it up with additions according to the seasonal vibe. Last night I tried a few new menu items. The deviled eggs with smoked trout row were simple perfection. Recently I've had deviled eggs elsewhere and I have noted that the egg white part has been rubbery. Not at 118 North, The whole egg was cooked to perfection. Yum! I highly recommend starting with an order of theses. And there is another new menu item called sweet potato fries. They are not exactly sweet potato fries like sticks and more like home fries? They absolutely outrageously, phenomenally delicious! The combination of the maple butter and bacon topped with the Remoulade and scallions made every morsel bite delicious. I literally licked the plate/Iron skillet that it came in. I would recommend getting these as an appetizer or even a dessert or just a snack. I will again, maybe tonight. They change the soup to a butternut squash that is reminiscent of their fantastic broccoli cheddar soup in the best way. I love their soup! In the past I've devoured their epic cheeseburger and recommend their short rib nachos and Brussel sprouts as well. They've added a Bavarian pretzel and also offer actual entrée dishes Like roasted chicken with sweet mashed potatoes, Bronzino, filet mignon salad, Poor boy catfish and so on. There's so many good choices in wayne and 118north totally competes. We have seen many bands at 118North ranging from funk, Rolling Stones, reggae music and Thursday night Grateful Dead tribute bands. we've even seen a couple opening acts with cellos and such. This is a very intimate setting to see live music and while I can be tight sometimes it's always has a terrific vibe. If you are afraid of super loud music please bring earplugs. I did last night and they seem to help. It's not death threateningly loud but it wouldn't hurt. It's also nice note that the women's powder room has some stock items and is kept clean. The bar is great with delicious drinks it's priced fairly and stocked nicely. The servers are super great friendly and talented. I love this place! read more

I've come here to see bands on a few occasions and I've been so thrilled each and every time. It's so nice to have a small intimate venue with good sound and lighting that also brings in talented and entertaining musicians. I wish there were more places like this in the main line, but very happy that we at least have this one! read more

Finally got here to see a band, Newspaper Taxis and Dead Flowers on Friday 11/13. Had a good night here, mostly due to the decent band and nice employees. But it is an odd layout and a bit of a strange experience seeing a band here. Bit of an identity crisis, is this a music venue or a bar restaurant? The front part of the restaurant seems to be just that, a bar\restaurant with lots of people having dinner and drinks at the bar\tables. Do these people pay a cover charge to have dinner? Or do you get a free show by having dinner? I'm not sure how that works... They really need some more space here, it's quite tight with their layout. The music area starts abruptly where the tables stop, and the dance floor begins...Is this what intimate means? It's quite tight in the stage area, and since the kitchen is back there as well as the bathrooms...there is a constant flow of people back and forth. It seems funny to see servers dancing thru the crowd with someone's dinner in their hands. Unless it's your dinner, then it may seem a bit gross...your food having to traipse thru the dance floor to get to your table... It is also tough to eat if you are going to a show. The dining area was packed, as was the bar. So I didn't know where I would order, or where I would eat. I ended up waiting till the bar started to clear out and got a spot at the bar. Ordered their burger from the late night menu(which I can't find online), which was decent for 9 bucks. Bartenders were on point, friendly and efficient. I forgot this place is run by the folks at Ripplewood. When I ordered the burger I was asked the same question...Pink or No Pink. I got the Pink at Ripplewood and it was a huge mistake. It was almost like beef tartar on a bun and I absolutely detested it. I got the No Pink this time, and was surprised at how pink the No Pink still was, but it was definitely more to my liking. Same fries as ripplewood too, very good. I'm also glad there wasn't any bologna\pickled onions on my burger...Where would I eat if I didn't snag a spot at the bar? Stand on the dance floor with a burger and drink in my hand? Best thing going here...The staff... Everyone was very nice and personable, from the front desk ticket takers, to the bartenders and barbacks dancing thru the dance floor with their buckets of ice and trays of food... I'm glad to see another place for live music on the main line, but the space isn't the best for this concept. read more

Stopped in for dinner around 6pm on a Friday with my boyfriend and my mom. We could barely hear our waiter, nor could he hear us. It was uncomfortably loud. I suggested we leave but my boyfriend had already ordered a beer. Fortunately we left before we put in a food order. Food is good to VG. Live music here is great. Last night it was the service that prompted me to write a review. The 'door-man' (sorry - didn't get a name, 30-something, beard) was very friendly and helpful, and the servers were excellent. The only name I got was 'Jad' (I hope I got the spelling right). He was very good behind the bar, on a very busy night, but still found time to check on our table to see if we needed anything. I drank beer all night but next time there I might do a Manhattan. Jad's version looked legit! I also had a brief conversation with the owner. He also seems like a very nice guy. The only downside is; it's a bit pricey, but then again 'Mainline' + 'Inflation' will do that. Look for good deals during happy hour(s). I will be back. read more

We visited tonight for a band showcase. The music was the best part. Our waitress was prompt in taking our very simple order, and our drinks arrived promptly. Then things went south. Our drinks--the Main Line 75--were underwhelming and not nearly chilled enough. We waited more than thirty minutes for our waitress to return. When I asked her to please check on our order (three apps), she replied that the kitchen was slammed. A bar restaurant slammed for French fries? And we continued to wait: for all of our food, for our water to be refilled. Fortunately, the band showcase saved the day, but based on our experience and many other people's reviews, the management team at this restaurant needs to take a serious look at their processes to make improvements. read more

We had our wedding after party at 118 North and we loved it! Jake was awesome to work with from the very beginning and we couldn't have asked for a better venue. We probably had around 75 people and there was plenty of space for either dancing or hanging at a table. The drinks were great and the bartenders were super helpful on keeping us up to date on where we were with our tab. We had so much fun and wish we could do it again! Stop reading and go get a burger. The North Burger to be exact. Why? Because it's everything you've been hoping for in a burger. And maybe a little more. Need more reasons to head to 118 North? The beer selection was pretty darn good (we each found a few to try), they have a kids menu (yay!), and the hot fried chicken will take your taste buds for a ride. On top of all this, our service was excellent- our waiter and the lovely young lady he was training were so kind, patient, and on top of things with our kids (and us), and we couldn't have been more thankful. Seriously though, we had a great time grabbing a quick bite to eat at 118 North. I won't lie, when our cheese curds came out and lacked a little something something, we may have been worried, but our entrees more than made up for it. They also have some pretty creative weekly specials (I just looked at this week's specials and we may be making another trip). I highly recommend trying 118 North out - they even have live music! After hearing good things about 118 North from friends and neighbors, I decided to try 118 North for dinner. We were instantly greeted by the host, as well as the bartender behind the bar. Our server, like the other staff members we encountered was very friendly and warm. We tried the Mahi Mahi tacos which were absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly breaded and crispy and the pickled cabbage offered a brightness and acidity. The tortillas tightly wrapping the fish and pickled cabbage were pressed and toasted, giving the tacos a little extra crunch. The next appetizer we tried was one of the specials, the Broccoli Cheddar Rarebit. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted and there was definitely tons of cheese and fresh, al dente cooked broccoli. The only negative about the dish was it was incredibly salty and I'm someone who loves to add salt to many of the things I eat. All in all, I will definitely be back to 118 North in the future! read more

This is definitely a welcome addition to the local music scene. My only visit so far, but I think they should reconsider the volume versus the size of the space. Overwhelming wall of sound that precludes all else. Could use some additional high tops - even if standing only for drink rests. Lots of dancing space. We'll give it another try to see how things play out... read more

Randomly found an resi last minute on OpenTable. Had no idea what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised to find a small; but smart and ambitious menu! A couple of cocktails I would LOVE to try when I have an Uber! Also a few excellent micro-brew draught selections that are NOT in every brew pub! BONUS! The "specials" included a white pizza with ramps and several delish Italian cheeses. We also ordered the wings which were well done. They are not your typical "Buffalo" wings at all! So much flavor and a little kick! Dessert we ordered the chocolate doughnuts! They were pretty good. I never know what to expect from doughnuts. They were kind of a cross between beignet and funnel cake. 80% to what I would have hoped for but a large order! read more

Music was great the food was DREADFUL! Ordered something called a Kale Caesar Salad. Did not recognize the Kale as kale. It was wilted and the whole was poorly prepared. it came with blackened chicken, which was over cooked and dry and just thrown in there. I would never eat here again. This was our first time at 118 North. It's a very narrow space. There was a guitarist playing in the front with many small children dancing (this was 6:30pm on Friday so I think it was the end of happy hour). The bar is along the left wall. There's high top seating in the middle aisle and regular tables along the right side wall. It's very tight in between tables and difficult to walk especially with all the coats hanging off chairs. I applaud the servers and bussers who have to navigate through the people and tables. There's a large stage in the back but we didn't go in that direction. Our server Andriana was ok in the beginning greeting us and giving us menu suggestions. As the dinner progressed I think she became overwhelmed because she really didn't check in and we had to wave her over to get her attention. The table next to us seemed even more frustrated. They ordered dessert but it took so long that they just left after finally being able to settle their check. At her suggestion, we tried the Hot Chicken and the Pork Mac and cheese. The chicken was large enough to share and really delicious. It definitely had a spicy kick and I would order it again. The Pork Mac and cheese was also very good. We didn't order any appetizers or dessert this time yet it took well over an hour because the service was slow. Luckily we weren't starving when we arrived and we weren't in a hurry. The kids dancing to the guitarist was a pleasant distraction while we waited. Because the tables are so close and it's noisy, it's not the ideal place for a date or to discuss anything you don't want everyone else to hear. Parking is on the street or the township lots. Andriana said it was Diet Coke but the check just lists it as soda so I'm not convinced they serve Coke products. read more

Pretty awesome find. I was visiting Philadelphia for business & staying by a massive mall with every dining option in the area being a chain. No thanks. So I googled. Bars, good food, live music plus my location. The 118 North came up as an option and it looked really cool. Appealing website which posted having a band that night called Mas Tequila ... I mean it was Halloween, the menu looked fantastic and "more tequila" sounded a'ok so off I went! Quick drive, cute little shopping district with lots of parking options. I sat at the bar, the bartender was attentive and checked in with me often. I think it was either the owner or the GM who was also behind the bar concocting a new drink he created- it was really good! My bartender made a kick ass Negroni too. I ordered the Filet Mignon salad. It was arugula, kale, roasted Brussel sprouts plus the filet. Very yummy- Yes I ate the entire thing, no shame! Nice crowd of friendly patrons, some people were in costumes for Halloween. Big foot was definitely there & I'm pretty sure PeeWee Herman was in the band. lol The band was just ok. The scrumptious food and finely crafted cocktails is what will bring me back. Looking forward to another visit when I'm back in town. read more

118 North is unlike any other restaurant I've been to! I came here with 14+ friends for my birthday in October (and have been back a few times since) and every single time the food and music are great. This restaurant is super unique in terms of menu options and the addition of live music pretty much every day, and the staff is so nice. The happy hour deals are incredible and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes live music with dinner/happy hour! read more

*DO NOT GO HERE!* GO TO ALESSANDROS. If I could give zero stars I would. This was by far the worst dining experience we have ever had. We started our evening by ordering drinks. I ordered a orange crush that was absolutely disgusting. I took one sip and requested a new drink. Our server, who i believe was named Carissa or Marissa was the worst server I've ever had. She would blatantly ignore tables for upwards of thirty minutes. The people at the table next to us even stated to us how terrible of a waitress she was and how they too felt like she was incompetent of doing her job. The bus boy also decided that as he was bussing the table next to us that he would set down the dirty dishes on our table as he wiped the table he was bussing. This happened before our guests arrived and it should have been enough for us to walk out right there and then. The evening got worse from there. As someone who has worked in restaurants for ten years, i understand that in order to be a good server you actually need to have personality. The wait staff here simply does not know what they are doing. I watched the manager stand around the entire night. A good restaurant manager checks in on tables. Instead, he was standing there on his phone while we had a nightmare of a meal. Simply put This place is a disaster. The food was mediocre bar food, drinks were way too sweet and watered down. Oh and to top it all off- she decided to leave the drink i sent back on the tab. There is no way that this place lasts. The owner needs to seriously evaluate what's happening here because everyone left annoyed. Take a page out of our book and go to Alessandros across the street. Sadly this was one of the worst dining experience we've had in a long time. The atmosphere itself was very warm and inviting but everything went down hill from there. We were seated for a full ten minutes before our waitress came around. When she did appear she only took our drink and app order and then disappeared quickly before we could say anything. It took a good fifteen minutes for our drinks to be brought to the table (I got what appeared to be a very simple cocktail and hubby got a beer on tap). It was another ten minutes before we got our app. We got the bacon gouda fries. The fries themselves were ok, nothing to write home about, the cheese and bacon and pickled red onions were delightful. When we had eaten maybe half the appetizer our waitress appeared asked us if we we enjoying it and then disappeared again before we could even respond. It was another 20 before she came back, in the meantime she was taking orders at the table behind us, but pretty pointely ignoring us. Hubby tried to flag her down several time. We were just about to cut our losses and find somewhere else to go when she appeared again and asked if we wanted anything else. Hubby got the the North buger which sounded amazing but was underwhelming. I got what was advertised as a poboy but was clealy just a fried fish sandwich (if your not going to put a famous sandwhich on the correct bread can you at least warn me?). Since we had fries for our app i had intended to get the side salad but wasn't given the option. I ordered my sandwich and once again the waitress was gone. We can forgive bad food or bad service but not both. We didn't have to wait long to pay only because I made sure to have my card ready when she brought over the check. I wasn't interested it waiting around another 20 minutes for her to come back. If you decide to go to this restaurant I hope you have a better experience. We will not be going back. read more

Wish I could give a 0 star review on this establishment. Went to the bar at 11 bar tender asked for my Id and I provided it. He came back very rude and stated that my REAL ID was fake and continued to kick me and the group of friends I was with out of the bar. On the way back the bartender and or waiter with the red beard said "ur a white and entitled. Go spend daddy's money somewhere else". From that he should be fired. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone especially if you are 21. They will accuse you of having a fake ID even if it real. While I understand this was a Saturday night, this restaurant treated us absolutely terribly. We came here because of the good reviews. Atmosphere was great, the host was also very kind. Sat at the bar very briefly while we waiting for our high top table (only seats available since it was kind of late ~8pm). Bartender acted pretentious... quickly took our drink orders and couldn't get away from us faster. Get to our high top table with the host a few minutes later, and a gentleman came shortly after asking if we needed more drinks. He took that order and disappeared for awhile, even though our table was literally touching the bar. Finally comes back with the drinks and disappears for pretty much good, bussing other tables and never tried to take our food order. Finally we flag a random waitress down who took one out of the four of our orders. She tells a group of fellow waiters that we ordered, and a few moments later the bartender comes over and snarkely asks for the rest of our food order. No one told us the bartender was our waiter ?? He never showed his face to us the entire time we were sitting at our table. I guess we were supposed to read their minds and assume he was our waiter. The rest of the night we had to flag him or anyone down for anything. It was a disgrace. The food was great but not sure it's worth coming back to since we were so mistreated. read more
