Priced right, but not sure if that's the norm. Definitely left me wanting to return! I didn't notice when I first came in that there seemed to be a bar off to the far left as I came in. Someone had asked me if I was in line, so I'm guessing it was open at the start of the show. I'm also aware that this group hosts comedy in the park events in the summer which are free and a really fun community event. Cons: Parking is uncool and there were more than enough shady looking street roamers walking about but considering the location, that tracks. Just dress sensibly and park near a street light if possible. Also, allow yourself extra time to park if you aren't taking an Uber.

When I need to use the restroom, I was directed towards lots of stairs. The seats in the concert hall were very low. It felt like I was dropping down into the seats. The "stage" is the floor level, and the few levels of seating are very nicely graduated, so if you don't get a front-row seat, you'll not have any problem seeing over the person in front of you. The sound system is adequate, although only really audible from the right side as you're facing the stage. There is lots of seating in the lobby, so you can sit while you're waiting for the theater proper to open up. Parking is real pain in the neck, though, and you're probably best off parking at the paid lot on 20th and Pettygrove and walking to the venue. Don't expect a full bar or concession stand, but the production may have their own concessions for sale. Definitely worth a visit!

I almost didn't stay for the second half because of some early morning obligations I had the next day, but so glad I did- because it was amazing! The likeness of the performers to the actors in the movie wasn't exact but accurate. The dialogue was fun, had spurts of relate-able content to the modern-day audience, but didn't veer off of character too far. And the DeLorean + lights show! Seriously and unexpectedly loved it. And the Keller staff did such an amazing job of herding us all around before & after, while getting drinks, and during the intermission. It was a bit miraculous. What show is next? ;-)

It was a little intimidating walking in the dark by ourselves. But at least I now know there are parking closer to the Keller Auditorium for the next time. We got to the door about 10 minutes before curtain call. I was surprised that the line moved quick and with ease. Once we got in, we decided to stop by the souvenir shop after the show and opted to use the restroom on the left side. There was a line of 9 people ahead of us. We stood in line only to find out that it was ONE stall. That explained the long wait. Wish the ushers or staff let people know that there was a ladies lounge on the other side with more stalls. All I heard was that there's restrooms upstairs but it's the same. My impression was that this venue was not equipped for a big crowd. It wasn't a humongous venue and it looked like all or most seats has a good view. We sat on the left side, 7 rows back on the aisle. I think those seats was perfect because we were close to the stage but still far enough back so we can absorb everything. My chair was comfortable and was roomy. I think the lady behind me wasn't too comfortable. She was kinda tall and kept bumping her knees on the back of my seat. My suggestion to taller people, try to get the end seats. That way you can kinda stretch out a little and not be uncomfortable during the show.

Polaris is actually enjoyable to go to and the crowds aren't typically good. The bar is located in a spot that you don't hear talking throughout the show. Overall I enjoy this place. Bonus that it is located by awesome bars and restaurants that are open late.

The production value alone is enough to write a review about. This is no pop-up drag show in some bar, this is a full-on production with seasoned and dedicated queens. We are talking professional sound, multiple lighting engineers, and a legit stage with all of the theatrical bells and whistles. The walls are covered with portraits of all the queens who have graced the building over the years. It's the type of place where you can just FEEL the history. You can tell it is clearly a very special and well-loved place. Have an occasion coming up? Darcelle's is a fabulous place to celebrate a birthday, wedding, divorce, anything! They have seated drag shows Friday and Saturday nights (followed by the men of Darcelle's strip show!), and a drag brunch show on Sundays (only $32 for breakfast AND a show!). On Tuesday nights they do an open call drag competition and it's only $5 to get in and they have $7 drink and food specials all night. You cannot beat that deal...especially being downtown! Up front is perfect since there is a stage. They show some great things and their location truly demands you continue the friend talk about the film at a bar or over some fries next door. A lot of shows have raffles. I have won several things like a gorgeous local artist print of John Waters and a still from Cat People. This is a super safe space for LGBTQ+ and all us local weirdos too. As long as you are not a hateful Nazi, you are welcome and I always have great encounters with so many lovely people. I have attended a lot of concerts, shows, burlesque, drag... all sorts of fun here. Their website is great to check out what is coming up but they are down to show you a good time. Did I mention snacks?? They know what EPIC BUTTER means and their popcorn is delicious! Also, check out their other snacks. I got some Missionary Chocolate covered nuts that were next level.

Just east of the river, in the middle of a residential part of Portland lies this little theater. Something I was not expecting to see when I was invited to watch a friend's movie that he filmed. Let me share some information on what to expect before coming here: * Parking * Once you spot the place and drive past it, you won't find a garage anywhere. Street parking only. So be cognizant of street parking signs as well. * The Theater * A classic type of theater reminiscent of days passed with a marquee above the entrance. Upon entering, there isn't much of a lobby, but a concession stand selling everything from candy, popcorn, and drinks. They even sell beer and wine, and local canned ciders. I also heard, they're cool with you bringing in food from outside. Just not alcohol, which is understandable. Although the lobby is narrow, i still loved looking up at the movie poster decor that lined the walls. There's only one movie screen as far as I know of, so don't expect a huge building with 20 screens. I mean it is an old building with old wooden doors, brass doorknobs, heavy curtains, and tiny restrooms with exposed pipes. Inside there is a small stage in front of the main screen, available for performers and events. Yes, you can even rent out the venue as well to hold an event. As for seating, the chairs are pretty wide and fairly comfortable. There may have been only about 200 seats, so expect the closeness of audience interactions and the quiet whispers to be heard loud and clear. In short, this old school theater is definitely a historical icon of Portland, with its marquee board changed by hand and little box office up front selling tickets. Come here for homemade movies, B rated films, as well as weird random classics. Just check their website for what's showing. I enjoyed my friend's event and I wouldn't mind seeing another crazy movie here like The Toxic Avenger!
