This place is a gem! We showed up to a cute outdoor sitting area near some parking (only about 5-7 spaces from wha I could see) and walked in to find a pretty empty lobby. It's great to get together over Thai food for lunch. Fun and easy conversations. Peter suggested the perfect place and did us the favor of ordering for Terry, himself and me. Inside and outdoor seating. Not crowded which was nice. The patient server with a pretty smile took our order, delivered the food and beverages and was also our cashier at our table. I liked the quietness, no noise coming from the kitchen. Customers came in and asked to be seated outside or perhaps do take out orders very quietly. Saw a show on a monitor when we entered through the back door but didn't hear or see it while we were there. Must be our engrossing topics of conversation. The dishes came out one after another. The sauces and seasonings I thought were very good. The portions seemed on the smaller side more like individual servings than family style. Nevertheless we had some leftovers. I recently heard about this Thai fusion restaurant and wanted to try for our Saturday dinner outing. I was particularly excited about the fusion concept. When we arrived at 6 pm there was plenty parking and the entrance is in the back. The outdoor seating is very nice, you'll forget you're next to Wal mart lol. We requested to sit outside but they said it was going to rain (it didn't) and asked us to sit inside. Would've preferred to sit outside since it's covered and should be ok with rain but ok, inside was nice too. I got the Thai tea, which was solid. I was most excited about the fries because I wanted to see the fusion concept in action. It was unique and the more I ate the more I liked it. The Penang curry is peanut based so peanut curry plus cheese plus fries was a new taste combo but I actually really liked it! I think they should also do this with pasta? That would be a unique way to make some new fusion main dishes, curry pasta. I had something like that in Thailand once and really enjoyed it. The red curry was good but I like the Penang better since it's so rich and flavorful. I also tried the Pad Ma Ma which is a type of instant noodles, it was sweet and I really liked the sweet/spicy combo and a nice change from my usual pad ke mao or pad Thai . We also ordered the pineapple fried rice, it was good but missing some umami flavor, it could've used a little more kick. The service was quick, and the server and chef (owner?) also checked in on us. I would return to try more dishes and especially the fries again, and hopefully sit outside this time. read more

Blink and you will pass the Sisters Restaurant. This unassuming Thai restaurant should definitely be included when the Thai food craving hits. The inside decor is eclectic. Looks kind of like a tarot card reading place but trust. It's worth it! Also be careful getting in and don't fall off the big step at the entrance. We ordered the special tom yum pho (5:5), pad kee mow (5/5), shrimp larb (4/5), and cheesy dumplings (4/5). All were tasty and full of flavor. My favorite dish was by far the tom yum pho. It was perfect and satisfying. I also really enjoyed the pad kee mow and cheesy dumplings. The only comment I have on the shrimp larb is that it needed much much more sauce. The lychee coconut mocktail (3/5) was just so-so. We wanted to try but I'd pass next time. Service is attentive and friendly. The restaurant could be a bit cleaner too. But hey for the food and overall experience I'd definitely return. Parking in the small lot can be full during peak time. I had an appointment with the eye doctor at Sam's and read a lot of good reviews on Yelp and decided to try it out, since I was at Sam's club. Got there and the parking was pretty empty total they have about 8-10 stalls to share with another business and there is also street meter parking. Enter through the front door and there is a slight incline walkway and when you enter it is level with the same colored green artificial grass, but there is a at least a 5 inch drop from this platform we're ever you step off from. Please be careful or use the entrance the back entrance from the parking lot instead from the road facing Sam's and Walmart. Good thing I didn't fall and get injured! I ordered the jerky pork and my wife ordered the Pad Thai noodles. The Pad Thai noodle was on the sweet side, not like the Pad Thai I had at different restaurants, but it was okay. The jerky pork was very good and the brought it out with some sweet chili sauce. I asked the waitress serving us if I could have the spicy sauces and some ice, because they served all the water without ice. The waitress was very nice and friendly and according, like they advertise like going to visit family. The restroom were clean We also tried a Guava covered Macadamia nut that they were selling and displaying in the restaurant, so we purchased one to try and it was on the stale side with no crunch and the guava was only a light taste, I know it is not their own product, they are just trying to help out a friend by displaying and selling it for her. read more

I love curry but can't take too much heat, so I opted for a "no spice dish" of minced meat (you select your protein-I chose chicken) with sweet basil, and a side of jasmine rice (if not included in your dish, then jasmine or sticky rice is an add on). My friend's peanut curry was less spicy than my "no spice" stir fry...maybe they used the chili oil? Not sure. My co workers tasted it and said, uh oh, you should have gotten the curry, lol! First bite and yikes! However, it was so yummy and savory that I "powered" through it and drank a lot of liquid. Our server felt bad and brought a powerful Thai coffee with the condensed milk to help cut the "burn". My meal was a generous serving of stir fry, and I took what I couldn't finish for another lunch;)! Everyone enjoyed their food-the creamy peanut curry was delish, (I didn't try the spicy green curry), the seafood salad was laden with a variety of seafood items, and the rice salad had several whole chilis on it that another co worker loved! We took out some powerful Thai tea (one has to dilute hers from her water glass), and two of us had ice cream. Sadly they were out of their haupia chia, so maybe we'll visit again during happy hour (see photo $6 specials from 2-5pm). The care that went into their colorful decor was evident, from paintings and postcards-and yes, even their restroom had a large painting in it! We really wanted to love this place and support it often especially since we live nearby. We shop at Sam's Club and Walmart all the time and noticed this new Thai restaurant, so we were excited to try it. We actually visited twice, even bringing friends along... hoping to find dishes we'd truly enjoy. Between the two visits, here's what our group of seven tried .... Braised Pork Leg Over Rice - My friend was told this dish is premade, kept in the freezer, and reheated to order. She also asked for extra pork skin but was told it couldn't be added since it's portioned ahead of time (understandable and we appreciated the honest explanation). Unfortunately, the flavor was very plain, not the salty-sweet depth we usually expect from this dish. For taste alone, we'd give it a 2 out of 10. Whole Fried Fish - The menu photo looked amazing but what we received was two separate fried pieces, which seemed like it may have been frozen and re-fried. Even with the salad dressing served alongside, it didn't quite come together in flavor. This one left us a bit disappointed especially for the price. Tom Yum Shrimp - The broth was mild in every way: light sourness, light sweetness, light saltiness. It wasn't bad but it didn't have the bold Thai herb flavors we were hoping for. Grilled Pork Salad - We ordered it spicy, but it arrived without heat. The server explained it was mild, which is fine but even so, the flavors didn't quite hit our preference. We understand this is Thai fusion and we know everyone has different tastes. Other guests might absolutely love these dishes but for our group, these didn't pass our personal taste test. That said, we haven't tried everything on the menu, so there may be other items that are great. Service & Ambience - Service was friendly and staff were open and honest in answering our questions. The bright yellow exterior makes the restaurant easy to spot and it has a cheerful, inviting vibe. We hope the restaurant takes this as constructive feedback because we'd genuinely love to return if the flavors are adjusted. We were returning home from shopping, and as we passed The Sister Restaurant I casually mentioned to my wife that it's a Thai restaurant. She suggested we try it once, so we stood out front and surveyed the brief displayed menu. Not being familiar with Thai food, we couldn't make up our minds, so we entered. Fortunately, there were a few tables still open. Most of the tables were occupied, and folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. The menu the server brought over had a much more detailed list of options. We decided to try three dishes so as not to base our experience on just one. We ordered: * Tom Yum -- medium spicy with tofu * Red Curry with pork * Summer Rolls When the food arrived, we could immediately tell that it was more than we could finish, so close to our previous meal. The first dish was placed on the table, and I had to ask which one that was. By "curry" we mistakenly imagined something thicker (as with local- or Japanese-style). This resembled a soup. But the soup (Tom Yum) came next. The summer rolls were more familiar to us, both in appearance and taste, our having had the Vietnam version many times before. We were so focused on tasting and comparing that I forgot to take photos until the dishes were already mixed and partly eaten. The server was very good, accommodating our questions and requests. I came with my friend who is Thai and she said the food is really good. We had the green curry and she could tell they make their own curry paste. It was light and so flavorful with lots of veggies. We had the pork salad and it was so fresh with citrus flavors. Everything we had was light and not heavy and so fresh tasting. The spring rolls were good too. This place was really really great! We went for lunch and found parking with ease, but I'm sure parking gets hard to find because they really don't have a parking lot. It's across of Walmart and Sam's Club so that's the area you would need to find parking at. With that being said the atmosphere is so neat, cool and cultural! I had a quiet lunchtime meeting with a good friend at Sister. Catching up on things over some pad see ew and pork jowls. Time flew as we tried to fill each other in on what happened in two months into an hour. Sister Restaurant was the right place that day. The decor was cheerful and very interesting. You could spend some time just checking out the decorations. The food was good. The medium spicy had some kick to it. I'm guessing the Thai hot spicy would be a bit more than I could handle. You have control over how spicy you can eat. Our host was very friendly and helpful. There was a slight language gap, so we tried our best to be understood. It's BYOB and a small corkage fee. Very standard Thai food! We got the wings, pad Thai, and drunken noodle. The food was all piping hot and pretty good. (A little bland in my opinion) it wasn't the best Thai food I had, but it was good and convenient. The restaurant is behind the Walmart but the ambiance is nice- cute interior and exterior. The standout, however was the service. We ordered Thai tea and my husband didn't receive it when we went to pick it up. We called the tell them, and they were quick to correct the problems no questions asked. So Maris, Jason & I went yesterday 2/28/25 to The Sister Restaurant and Cafe for lunch because I was craving Thai food. Bottom line: food was just ok. Green curry chicken ($18.99) was soupy, not like the typical gravy-like stew dishes served everywhere else. Accordingly, the dish wasn't full flavored. Basil stir fry with pork ($17.99) was decent, however, it didn't have the zing that pad gra pow (the Thai name for this dish) has. It was served with rice but no fried egg. The ground pork was a little burnt. Beef pad see iew ($17.99) was bland. We had ordered everything medium but this had no kick whatsoever. Maris ordered it with extra noodles as she usually does but it didn't not come with more noodles than typical. And the noodles were cut, not long. We weren't charged for extra noodles, so I think our waiter forgot to order that. Jasmine rice ($3.99) was ok. Hard to screw up this one, and it was fine. What was not fine is that the basil stir fry included a portion of rice larger than what I paid for as a side. And the waiter should have said that dish had rice served with it so I didn't have to order the side. Thai pork bread ($14.99) was a little oily. I didn't really care for it but Maris liked it. The beef tom yum pho noodle (Thai Pho) was the best tasting dish. It is normally a $14.99 menu item but is advertised as $9.99 during the "Special Grand Opening". However, I was charged $6.00 for "extra beef" without ordering extra, so I paid $15.99. The flavor of the broth was great, and the beef brisket cubes were really flavorful. However, if there was extra beef in this dish of five small cubes total, I would certainly question the amount in the dish without the "extra" beef. We also had two Thai Iced Teas ($3.95 each) and a Coke Zero ($3.99). We also tried to order dessert, and of the three desserts listed on their menu, only one was available. Our waiter, Ping, who is also the manager, never brought the dessert we ordered but that's ok cause I wasn't charged for it. I think Ping needs to write down the orders, since he forgot to bring out the dessert, needed to be reminded to bring out my Coke Zero, didn't include the extra noodles in the pad see iew, added extra beef to the tom yum which wasn't ordered, and when tallying up our bill kept looking over to our table to visually remind himself what dishes we ordered. I had to leave for an appointment but Maris and Jason boxed up the leftovers, and got a tour of the back structure where the restaurant operators will run a karaoke bar with purported live music venue. They haven't obtained their liquor license yet (Ping said it's been two months since they applied) but they supposedly had a soft opening last night 2/28/25. The back bar's name is Pink Bunny, which is somewhat consistent with the Kaimuki big sister's name Red Elephant. And Ping said they will be changing their hours to open at 10:00 starting this week. My Yelp buddies Nadine C. and Donna O. apparently really liked The Sister because they gave it 5 stars. But Nadine didn't eat the Thai food. So maybe the non-Thai food is what to order if you go. In summary, decor and ambiance - decent, new, and inviting. Food - a little disappointing, although Thai food is never really bad here in our State. Service - maybe needs a little work. read more

As this Sister Restaurant & Cafe does so as well whether you're here for their Thai food that's available for dinner which is 5pm to 9pm I guess but I was here quite early so it was breakfast only at 8am to 3pm which is a much smaller and simpler menu though for a teaser they do seem to have some appetizers as well. Not really a waffle person so it was the sandwiches which there's five to choose from and decided on the "Ham and Cheese with Egg Salad" all sandwiches comes on a choice of Sourdough or Croissant and is topped with mixed greens, tomato, cucumber and red onion and though it wasn't worded sandwich it's what I imagined which it actually isn't...more a toast. The presentation is quite stunning as my Sourdough on a beautiful plate is topped with spring mix, tomatoes and cheese with warm ham slices and mushrooms it all was very tasty and fresh I appreciate the red onion and sprouts on the side which isn't my favorite but as challenging it is to consume this work of art it went down quite easily as this light and refreshing toast was hearty enough to satisfy my cravings. This Hot New Business popped up on the Yelp app. Our friend, Donna O. had called our attention to it and even was First To Review: The Sister Restaurant & Cafe Located on Sheridan Street, across from the Walmart/Sam's Club building, The Sister Restaurant and Cafe has its own parking lot - just look for the colorful wall mural with the tall rabbits! There's also street parking: one side of the street has meters and the other side is free. The interior of the restaurant has interesting decor. The shelving unit has figurines such as bunnies! There's a fish bowl with a lone Fighting Fish in it! There are live orchid plants; paintings of sea creatures and birds; and artificial flowers on the walls. There's bar seating as well as tables with chairs. I ordered the Eggs plate... scrambled. It included asparagus, sourdough toast with a layer of pesto, crisp seasoned baby potatoes, mushrooms, and bacon. Everything was delicious! We even got a complimentary serving of Baby Potatoes with lemon zest! Thank you! Service was polite, friendly, and efficient! Went here craving hot food after a long, tiring day of sight seeing. We ordered their Pineapple fried rice and Panang curry both of which were good. I did find that the rice did not have enough pineapple pieces for my preference & was also a bit heavy on the egg but it still tasted really good. The veggies in the curry were my absolute favourite. They were all done really well and special mention to how crispy yet soft the tofu was. The curry was also a bit more peanut-y than other Panang curries I've tried but overall that didn't bother me. I liked how the restaurant had traditional decor, fish and handmade items. They have big tables and an outside seating area too. The food came out pretty quickly and was good. I forgot the names of the food we ordered because it was some time ago. I forgot to do this review sooner. We were served by a Korean lady and she was nice. So overall I would say the service is good. We were sat outside. It was very peaceful since they were not busy. I would definitely recommend the outside seating if you are going with a bunch of friends it's very relaxing and comfortable. The food was very good. The curry had too much of the peanut butter flavor , but other than that everything tasted great! The only thing is their prices are very high.... But portions are fair. The Sister restaurant and café serves Thai Fusion food is location right next to Walmart and Sam's club in town. They do have a few parkings that they share with the other business. That is not enough parking at all. (But luckily, you can park at Walmart and walk over. We cannot enter from the front door along the street, we have to walk to the back of the restaurant to enter. I don't know why they are doing that. We arrived early on a weekday evening around 5:20pm, we are the only customer in the restaurant, the staff was friendly, we ordered three items, Hainanese Chicken Rice, it is not like the normal Hainanese chicken that we had before with two sauces, it only comes with on sauce, it is not what we expected, I will give it a 6 out of 10. We ordered the Pad Thai Noodles with beef; it is more on the "wet" side. Taste good, 8 out of 10. We don't know why the soup came last (usually people serve the soup first), the Tom Yum soup with shrimp we ordered was VERY VERY salty. So salty that I decided to take it home, add water and drink it the other day. I don't know what happened to the cook that evening. Don't get me wrong, the soup is tasty but just way too salty when compared to all the other Tom Yum soup. They do offer 4% discount if you pay cash which we did. You might want to let them know before they bring you the bill. The male toilet looks a bit run down. My wife suffered a stomachache right after dinner and have to rush home to go to the bathroom after we left. I saw The Sister Restaurant & Cafe's instagram page the other day and decided to check it out. I thought they were only opened from 8am until 3pm, but they are open for dinner from 5pm-9pm and last call is 8:30 pm. It's been about a week since they opened, and had a limited menu. The breakfast/lunch menu was mainly brunch items with some Thai appetizers. I just had lunch with a friend and wanted to order some appetizers to take home, but decided to dine in. The restaurant is directly across the Walmart parking entrance on Sheridan St. There was an opening banner in front of their mustard colored building. Parking was available in their lot on the side or street parking. There was another building on the lot, but I'm not sure what they have plans for that building. The entrance door to the restaurant had a step up and a step down into the restaurant. Perhaps the back door can be for wheelchair access. It had a bright interior with colorful painted red, lgreen and pinkish purple colored walls! The shelvings was painted green with figurines and vases displayed. There was a bar area with bar sitting with a tv monitor. There are several tables of four seating and a longer table of five. Brunch is from 8am-3pm and they reopen for dinner at 5pm-9pm. Right now they are serving Thai Style Pho during dinner hours and later planned to serve Thai food. I learned they are the same owners as Red Elephant Thai Cuisine. I've eaten there before and many loved their Thai food, so I can't wait to try more Thai food from here. Service from "Mint" was excellent! She was sweet, helpful and efficient. I enjoyed the Thai pork bread and the Kra-Pow chicken wings. I wanted to try something different. The Thai pork bread was crispy and delicious! It had savory minced pork on crispy & fried little square toasts with crushed cilantro on top. It might be a little greasy for some, but I totally enjoyed it and it came with sweet chili sauce and thinly sliced pickled cucumbers & red onions on the side. I admit it can be a little addicting, but managed to saved a few pieces to bring home. The Kra-pow chicken wings was a little spicy but flavorful. It was soak in the sauce so it was a little crispy. There was about 5 pieces of chicken wings. I can't wait to try the Thai Style Pho at Dinner and more of their Thai dishes. They do have a few desserts and some specialty drinks. I and my husband are so happy to find another Thai place around this area. Note that they have free parking as well. The place was clean. Foods were awesome and tasted great. Staffs were nice. They served us with a smile. We're so thrilled to try their breakfast. Highly recommended! read more

TWO things better watch out for at this place...ONE, that big drop of step after walking into its front door...and...TWO, that little red jar of dynamite on the table! Suddent craving of Thai food hit me so went with a good friend. Both of us are first timer to this join and we had no idea wahtsoever besides I might see it on IG from some local foodie about it. We went close to 1pm and had the whole place just us. Was a little worry about all those IG might just be hypes from influencers. But...to our surprise, this might just be the best Thai I have had so far. It's just a quick lunch, and since it's first visit, we did not go crazy on our ordering. But everything were delicious. Ordered Thai style instead of Laos for papaya salad becuase I prefer lime instead of fish sauce, THAT proofed to be a good call. Beer marinated fried pork was a bit over fried, but that Jaew sauce was amazingly good. Drunken noodles was very tasty and not overly crazy with peanut or sauce. It's the best I have had for far on this island. Friend like spicy food, so asked our waitress for hot sauce. Our very friendly waitress came back with a caddy that has crushed peanuts, dry chilli flaks, fish sauce and some others....plus a jar of chilli oil. A dab...REALLY just a spoon tip of that oil....lit both of us sky high. First few seconds we were okay then next my friend started to turn red and I started having hiccups... we went both like WHAT THE...@#$% So fair warning...be careful AND mindful of that stuff. LOVE this restaurant! The food here is excellent, tasty, well seasoned, fresh, good portions and it has a traditional/authentic flare but with a slight twist of street fusion meets unique flavors. Hidden in plain sight on the ewa side of the street across from WalMart Keeaumoku, this delightful yellow restaurant spot boasts friendly service, delicious cuisine and great value. I love how everything is so delicious. May faves have been the pad thai noodles, panang curry and the fried rice salad. What's interesting to note, is I think people don't really know about this spot so it isn't really busy. When I have gone sometimes there is one or two other tables but that is it. They seem to try to add new things to broaden the menu and perhaps make it more appealing to more people, so they have added on brunch, happy hour, new fusion type dishes like potstickers covered in cheese and served in a curry. But what I really love is the flavor and the freshness. It isn't like some thai restaurants where its half bean sprouts and no flavor, this is impeccable. The interior is very thai inspired with wooden tables and chair, nice cool ac and soft touches like fish bowls and flowers everywhere. They usually just have one girl waiting tables and it is very intimate. But it is so good. A must try! No frills just delicious thai food!! read more

I went a couple weeks ago so I don't really remember the names of the dishes I ordered... -I really enjoyed the appetizers -The waffles were a little too... basic? -Employees were very kind! Next time I definitely want to try their pho... Now that they have dinner service, I'd definitely come back and try more dishes! read more

Driest fried fish I've ever had but at least the sauce was good. Worst flavorless crab fried rice with the driest old tasting pieces of crab I've ever had. Sausage was also driest I've ever had. There's definitely a dry food trend here. Service was good though read more
