I've heard such rave reviews that when I got my sandwich and (sub side of) soup today for about $20+ to go, I was a little disappointed. The bread (Dutch Crunch) was very good, though, as was the soup (Chicken Tortilla). But the sandwich wasn't even "full" of meat, and (possibly thanks to my request of no horseradish sour cream) was rather dry. However I appreciated the tortilla strips included in my to go box and apparently a sweet complimentary brownie bite. I did like the parking and the ambience. Will probably try again. read more

Excellent gourmet style food. Great menu selection of unique sandwiches. Definitely recommend them for a delicious fresh lunch. My only criticism is; They are no longer open for dinner. I was in Fallon to get my car serviced at the dealership, and my fellow yelpers helped me to select a great spot for a quick lunch. I was there four minutes after 11(when they open), and there were already three other parties in the room, that's always a good sign. They had an interesting special on the chalkboard, but opted for the Rueben, and I was not disappointed. I had a choice of sides, but the Rueben called for a salad side, and the waitress suggested the house poppy seed dressing. I've learned that when the waitress makes a suggestion, it's good to listen, and so I did. There service was good, and there was a lot of it. The place is about the same size as an In-N-Out, but they were prepared for the lunch rush with plenty of help. I was never without water, the help was thorough, friendly and efficient. In a nutshell, when I go to Fallon, NV again, this will be on my list. read more

Probably one of the best meals I've had in my life and I will never ever forget this. If I'm ever driving through NV I will go out of my way to stop here. I'm not a professional critic but treat this review like I am. For the love of goodness. I ordered the special the flat iron steak sandwich and curry acorn soup. First the sand which was made on fresh baked bread!!! And it was fluffy but had a beautiful whole flavor. And the steak was cooked perfectly!!! PERFECTLY! It was an amazing cut and all. The soup was home made as well. I couldn't have enough. It had a good texture. Not so pure it was smooth but almost. It was topped with a cream swirl. My girlfriend with me ordered a meal bowl size and one to go. Ended up eating her to-go order before we left. Lol! The iced tea is very strong well brewed !! Just a quick review of the quick lunch I had. I went in with just a half an hour allotted for my lunch. I was in and out with 2 minutes to spare! I asked the gal to bring me their best sandwich, I'm not picky and was feeling adventurous. She brought the cottonwood. It was excellent. The hot sandwich hit the spot just right. -Turkey breast, roasted garlic salsa, melted dill Havarti cheese, avocado, tomato, and mayo. I'm not a soda drinker so I asked if they could make me an Arnold Palmer. The BEST I've ever had! Don't be fooled by the small looking exterior, this building must have been built by snoopy. Passing through Fallon and saw this 5Star review on yelp. You won't be disappointed. The steak salad was delicious. Meat cooked perfectly and greens so fresh. My husband had the pastrami sandwich. Best he's ever had. The jalapeños sent it over the top. Oh and I can't forget the cream brûlée. You'll have a hard time finding a better one at most restaurants. Staff was wonderful and efficient. The Porch has been one of my favorite lunch spots for years now. Thursday's lamb burger special is not-to-be-missed! The sandwiches and burgers on the reguar lunch menu are always great too. They do everything right, from the way they cook their burgers, to the shoestring fries, or the house-made salad dressing. Oh, and if you're in the area on Friday or Saturday night, they are open for dinner. The menu changed fairly often, but you'll get gormet meals that would challenge the quality of any big city restaurant. I popped into Fallon for a work event and needed a place to grab some lunch. The Slanted Porch absolutely did not disappoint. It's a cute place off the main drag with maybe 10-15 tables, a very friendly staff, and a great selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich (they had a fancy name for it, I can't remember). They had a selection of breads, and I chose the French crunch (great choice). The chicken salad was solid...more of a standard chicken salad (no grapes, pecans, etc). The sandwich also came with lettuce and tomato on it, which I love with a CS sandwich.The sandwiches are also served with house made chips, which were delicious. My buddy I was with ordered a turkey panini, and I think that's what I would try next because it looked so good! It has melted cheese, and avocado spread, and salsa on it. Stopped in today for lunch and had an overall great experience. I was greeted immediately and was asked if I would like to sit at the bar since the dining room was full. The waitstaff were very attentive and pleasant. I ordered the cheeseburger which arrived within 15 minutes of placing my order - not bad considering the restaurant was slammed. The burger was cooked to medium rare and was very flavorful. The fries were seasoned perfectly and tasted very fresh. The taste and presentation I would liken to a more gourmet version of In N Out. The complimentary dessert brownie was wonderful. My only complaints include parking - the parking lot is gravel and it's difficult to get in and out, and the pricing. I spent $20 for lunch, while delicious, is way more than I would spend at a fancier establishment in Reno. read more

Hands down one of the BEST lunches I have ever had. I got their special of the day, which was Crispy Shrimp Tacos. The shrimps were big and the taco was so flavorful. My side salad had a sweet poppy seed dressing, which, again, was delicious. My grandpa got a burger. It looked amazing and he said it tasted great. Then! Here comes the best part.... after we declined dessert and paid the check... she brought out little individual brownies. Most places give you a chocolate or mints THEY GIVE YOU A BROWNIE!!! Best. The best place to eat in Fallon without a doubt. Actually it would be a great place to eat in any town. "The art of the sandwich" is well put, their sandwiches are the best I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The ingredients are fresh. The bread is wonderful, just like a grandma is in the back baking it. I love the paintings displayed in the restaurant by local artists. The hours are limited but that is understandable because this town is so small. When we've had the homemade potato chips to-go they were soggy, I think if they were served in a paper bag that would have solved that problem. The french fries were ok, maybe its cause it was close to closing but I'd rather have had fast food fries over what we got. A glass of orange juice is $4 dollars, that is expensive to me, not like its fresh squeezed as far as I know. The vinaigrette with the poppy seeds is too sweet for my taste, and I've had it more than once so it's consistent at least. The side salad is small. All in all great place, I think it should be featured in a show like "Diners, drive-ins, and Dives". I didn't expect any restaurant in Fallon to be this amazing, its a diamond in the rough. read more

Thanks to some awesome fellow yelpers, I had lunch at this Absolutely adorable little house/cafe/hot spot in Fallon Nevada. (who knew?). I knew I was in the right place when I saw the parking lot full of cars~ Always a good sign. I felt like I was visiting my grandma's house for a home-cooked meal. Except I was surrounded by military flight suits. No Maverick or Goose sightings though. Darn it!! Fresh locally grown delicious food and wonderful,friendly warm service make this a great choice if you live in or need to travel through Fallon. I ordered the half and half combination with the soup and sandwich option. The soup of the day, Potato bacon was not too thick, almost brothy, the smooth, fresh flavors of the potato, leeks, and the not too salty bacon left me scraping my bowl. It was a nice lighter version of potato soup, perfect for a summer lunch. I also had the 1/2 Stillwater Sandwich, a garlic lemon chicken salad sandwich with toasted sourdough. This was delicious and different than most chicken salad sandwiches I've had. The brownie!! or Fudge!! or brownie? ... oh whatever it was it was house-made and absolutely decadent!! it was so rich, moist and dense, I really had a hard time finally deciding that this was in fact a brownie. The fifth star was given for the wonderful service I got throughout my visit, from the seating host to the table service and particularly for when I got my check and found the owner's business card attached. I've never seen a restaurant owner do that. That is impressive...What a great, easy gesture to make sure I know my business is important to them. Bottom line up front: I am a fan. The sandwich is fresh, decor is quaint, and is probably the best restaurant in Fallon. Cleanliness: Very. Somewhat modern furniture but still with a home-feel to it. Food: Ingredients are fresh! I had the Taylor Turkey Sandwich. Having tried other restaurant's sub-standard food, this food probably tasted better for just being average to above-average, when compared with those other restaurants. Today I had the Monet (avocado toast) and a side salad. Both were so delicious! The avocado toast was seasoned and full of texture. The salad has the best house dressing that I wish I could take a bottle home with me. The waitress/hostess was kind and warm. The young men were polite and never stopped cleaning or working. This place is SOO GOOD. It is the literal definition of a great lunch. I got the Stillwater which was a chicken salad sandwich and it was amazing. I got a side salad and the ranch was phenomenal and obviously home made. My party of 4 all enjoyed their meals as well. Everything was fresh and I left feeling light and happy, yet full. It was the perfect balance of flavor and portions. I wish I lived closer to The Slanted Porch so I could eat there more frequently and treat my tastebuds more.
