    Hyde Park, February 17.

Serendipity! Today's Adventure Friday was to Hyde Park, an area where once upon a time I spent a great deal of time and wanted to revisit. My daughter had the day off, a holiday; Hyde Park Holiday was born. We had barely parked the car and my daughter spied a food wagon, we scurried over and each ordered a slider, 3 for 9.00. Mine was a Cuban slider, can you imagine how fabulous this was? There was just a bit of heat which made it interesting. As we walked around we realized Hyde Park was a veritable mecca of food trucks, we had stumbled upon enough food trucks to be able to pick choose. All this in the middle of wonderful Hyde Park? Life is good. And even better with a slider.

Two baby bacons and a Gouda

This was stop #1 on my Burger Crawl a few weeks ago. We actually had a completely different plan for our Burger Crawl, until my husband found The Slide Ride on Twitter. We changed our plans 180 and made this stop numero uno. I'm soooo glad we did because this was definitely our favorite stop of the day. The line was pretty long, but it just meant more time to decide. All of them sounded so good, but we decided on two Baby Bacons and a Gouda. The baby bacons were so yummy. They had some sweet mustard, perfectly grilled onions, topped with a mild bacon taste. The bun was soft, yet still had a little crunch-- likely from being toasted. The gouda had brussel sprouts on it, so we weren't sure what to expect, but I dove right in. I didn't taste the scary aftertaste that makes me despise brussel sprouts but they did give it an interesting texture. It also had the same mustard and bun that I loved from our bacons. The gouda had such an addicting flavor that I could have got right back in line and ordered 3 more of these. The burgers were so juicy and cooked to perfection. My biggest complaint about a lot of burgers is that the toppings overwhelm the actual taste of the meat. This wasn't the case at all. They really have the combinations worked out to make the meat the star of the show. For the first time too, they came out and said they actually prefer credit cards to cash, because they don't have to worry about making change. Not sure if it was just that day or in general, but have no fear if you only have a card. You can still try these divine mini burgers!

Been meaning to try this place following many positive write ups (top 10 Chicago food trucks etc). That can be a curse because expectations are high. Between 2 of us, tried a few different ones. They come 3 for $9 so that would be your best bet. And also you can mix and match. Note that some are a better value for the 3 bucks. Chicken slider is shredded (not a whole breast) and they give you a lot .. It's messy, but delicious. I ordered the Cheeseburger and the Bacon Burger. The meat is delicious and fresh so no qualms. Didn't care for the garlic aoli sauce on the cheeseburger (should have just called it mayo). Bacon Baby Burger was good. One thing going against them is these have to be very hot to get full enjoyment out of them. We walked 5 min or so to find a decent indoor place to sit and they cooled a little. Also, know it's probably a challenge, but really wish fries were an option (or Onion Rings) instead of the bag of chips. I will go back, but my favorite food trucks are by far Happy Lobster and Tamale Spaceship.

Always get a little excited when I see the Pink food truck down at the end of the street. For some reason, my case of the Mondays seems to go away when I see the tweet that The Slide Ride will make a second stop at Clinton & Lake. So maybe I stalk a little, but really, once you stop by for your first sack o' sliders, you probably will too. So anyways, today I picked up lunch for myself and my coworker, who has really been humoring me and my love of Chicago Food Trucks, and what a wonderful lunch it was. The philly was fantastic as always. The desert heat was tasty as well. Both had fantastic filling to bun ratios and the corn salsa on the desert heat was fantastic. The highlight of lunch had to be the Sriracha Buffalo Chicken. Sooooooooooooooooo yummy with just the right level of heat. The side of ranch is the perfect addition to take this one right over the edge. We are now probably one of the few offices in downtown Chicago anxiously awaiting Monday to roll around again!!!

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!

I got the veggie version of the Little DMK and the Lazy Refresher mocktail. *I ordered fries for us to split, which is when the waitress warned me about the fries. I really appreciated the call out, but was surprised it wasn't on the menu itself. Husband got the patty melt and noted that the beef tasted very peppered. Both burgers were fine.
