Overall, the best BBQ in 3 states! I have literally planned vacations around BBQ restaurants in SC, NC, and GA. I felt pretty dumb when I found the best one right here in Anderson, SC! It isn't just that their BBQ Ribs, Pork, and Chicken are the best around, it is that they do everything else better as well! Ribs: dry or wet, they are spectacular. I prefer the dry just because they aren't as messy and let the flavor of the meat shine, but found the wet ribs freeze and thaw better (and still were some of the best ribs ever!). Chopped Pork: so flavorful and juicy. No sauce needed. Brunswick Stew: the best I've ever had. I drank a quart of it straight from the styrofoam cup. That's why I bought 2 quarts... I bought this entire meal to go, froze the leftovers for 2 weeks, thawed them, and just had a BBQ feast that noone else could touch! Now, on to the appetizers - their potato crisps, nacho chips, and cheese sticks are ridiculous. The portions are over-the-top, and they taste better than anywhere else. Italian and Mexican restaurants have nothing on these! Then you get to the fish and shrimp. Surely a BBQ restaurant can't do seafood well, right? Sadly for the local seafood places...Creekside does it better again! You will never have a tastier piece of fried catfish or shrimp than right here. And that is coming from me after a 20 minute drive home - if I ate it at the restaurant, I'm not sure I could stand it. Everything I've gotten at Creekside has been well above my expectations, no matter how many times I go. This includes their great customer service, as well. I will admit, I've never tried any dessert or anything "green" here, as the BBQ, sides, and seafood are just so good I don't want to waste room on sweets or veggies. If I want a dessert, I'll pour a little bit of their sweet BBQ sauce on a piece of brisket, and the Brunswick Stew has tomatoes, corn, and onions - all the veggies I'll ever need! My ordered: pretty basic and pretty simple * chopped Brisket sandwich (served fatty and sliced not chopped) After picking all the fat off the sandwich I had to drown it in BBQ sauce just to allow myself to endure it * Baked BBQ Beans: Basically Bush's Baked Beans from the can with a dash of their sticky BBQ sauce and some brisket * Sweet Potato Soufflé was burnt. Not sure what I was really eating * Banana Pudding: this was the biggest joke of the entire meal: it look like they took Nabisco Nilla Wafers added a sliced up banana and covered it with Carnation instant pudding and topped it off with Sprayed Ready-wip whipped topping. Service was okay but still sub par... perfect example...she held my glass of ice tea from the rim with 3 fingers covering the top of the glass where one would normally put they're mouth to drink. The BBQ is WAYYYYY better than Smoking Pig's. More flavor (smoke pig is dry and lack flavor, we have had it many times. This was not and was WAYY~cheaper~!), huge portion sizes, more sides. GREAT service from the hostesses and servers. Best in a while!! And ambiance was 10/10! Loved the decor and music!! But my husband is a huge bbq guy who knows taste. He said the most important thing to it is sauce being that bbq is dry by nature and most people love sauce regardless. Maybe switch the bread with cornbread or rolls, or toast it more. The sauce was disappointing. The vinegar base mild is our most favorite, and the flavor was not there for any of the sauces. (Stranger taste) If the sauces get upgraded, it will be a 5 star place! something that's being put in it was giving it the wrong flavor. We wish they had potato salad (very popular item), but having corn and slaw does make up for that. Overall tasty and you should definitely come here! Really good BBQ. The place is interesting, it's inside a building that looks to have almost burned down. I like what they have done with it. It's got some character. Nice atmosphere. The BBQ is excellent. Not fatty. No gristle. Nice smoke ring. Good smoke flavor. Moist. Perfectly cooked. That's good enough for me right there. Good sized servings... I had Brunswick stew and baked beans with my pulled pork. Bothe were just fine. The iced tea was great. Gotta have good tea with BBQ. We shop at Publix nearby and I have to admit that the smell of that BBQ hits you in the parking lot of Publix... it's almost irresistible. Good place. I ordered online via Bite Squad. I ordered the brisket plate with Mac and cheese, cole slaw and homemade chips. It was the worst bbq I have ever experienced. The Mac and cheese was tasteless. The so called meat was a huge lump of fatty greasy and unrecognizable something. If you are expecting nice slices of brisket like the other bbq places you will be disappointed like I was. Really, and I mean really, solid place. Solid BBQ. Outside it's a half burnt down building but inside, a really cool old wood style restaurant. Pleasant people to seat you, and the owner is around the tables asking how things are. Already, two thumbs up. They have two different styles of ribs, wet or dry. Mine were a little on the dry side, when I got the dry, but the wet were very good. I would say still both above average, giving 3.5 and a 4.5 respectively. I thought the brisket was really good, not the best but good. 3.5. The sides are really fantastic, fries, mac and cheese and slaw all top notch. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful, definitely 4 star. On Friday nights they do a special where either it's a beef rib or steak. I really want to check this out, hopefully I will soon. The owner is a fantastic guy, very passionate about his business. great to talk to. This may be my new go to place, I thought all around the food was fanstastic. Horrific Wedding Catering DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!! Ever since the old owner sadly passed away, the new owner is AWFUL. She is not only rude, but she treated my wedding meal like it was a joke. I have never been so disappointed in a service in my entire life. I should have known it was a bad sign when she refused to provide an official contract for me, which she neglected to tell me until AFTER I paid the $500.00 deposit, but I tried to give the local restaurant the benefit of the doubt. There is a list of problems below that this ridiculous excuse of a restaurant did ON MY WEDDING DAY. 1. Arrived later than discussed the week of and discussed the day of. Should have been there at 5:00, but showed up at 5:45. (She'll say we changed the time "like 5 times," but in actuality the time took MUCH figuring out because they blatantly refused to come at 3:30 like we asked. They wanted to come at 4:30, but that would result in them driving by the ceremony space during the actual ceremony, so 5:00 was the decided time.) 2. No water was provided even though it was discussed that tea AND water would be provided. (They showed up too late for us to know there was no water, so we had no water for wedding guests and 3 children.) 3. Their tardiness delayed the reception by at least 30 min., which resulted in 3 events of my wedding being cancelled due to the event ending before we could do everything. 4. Rotten food (potato) was served to wedding guests - shown in photos. 5. A Creekside employee stopped answering her phone when we were worried about where they were when they didn't show up. They intentionally ignored us until we had a random groomsman call her. She answered not knowing he'd be from our wedding and she informed him they'd arrive within 15 min., when they hadn't left the restaurant yet. The Creekside employee then proceeded to ignore the groomsman's call after that. 6. Ran out of some food (paid for 95 people to be fed, but 95 were not at the wedding so there should have been more than enough food). 4-5 tables (about 32-40 people) were only served 2 of the 5 dishes as the other 3 dishes ran out. 7. Did not have sauce for BBQ when they arrived. Had to go back to main road of venue to pick up from another employee. 8. Servers were not aware they needed to serve when this was previously discussed. They came dressed in t-shirts and jeans. Servers were extremely apologetic because they said it was a "mad house" when they got to Creekside. It was obvious the employees were told nothing about the event they were catering. The boys didn't know what they were doing. A senior member of the "business" should accompany all important events to ensure everything is done properly, but Creekside threw it all on 2 teens/young adults who thought they were setting up and leaving. 9. Salad ran out, so plain lettuce was pulled right out of the bag and served to wedding guests without toppings. 10. When the servers were finished with plating food, they took the rest of the food that was left with them back to the restaurant as well as the tea and ice. The tea was the only non-alcoholic drink option (since they didn't bring water), which left us with nothing kid friendly for over 2.5 hours for the rest of the evening. The tea and food should have been left in disposable containers considering we paid for all the food to be provided and left at the venue. We had to file a claim with the credit card company to issue a refund for $500.00 due to promised services that were not rendered since the owner refused to offer ANY refund. We did this the day after the wedding on 10/24/2020. Bank of America mailed a claim notification to the owner, but instead of handling it the correct way, the owner decided to FRAUDULENTLY charge the credit card again on 11/12/2020 for the $500.00. I went to the restaurant to discuss things with the owner, and upon seeing the owner the first thing out of her mouth was, "We're a little busy right now with a catering event, how can I help you?" This was said with full attitude and sarcasm. I let her know that I had filed a police report for her fraudulent transaction, and all it led to was her denying ANY responsibility and then stating that she would come for my job because I am a teacher. I won't lie, I did call her a "b*****" on my way out of the restaurant when she told us that she would no longer talk to us, but wouldn't you if your wedding was ruined due to a negligent caterer and all she did was deny responsibility? read more

This place was the only thing open on a Sunday near Clemson. The environment was warm and inviting, and the complimentary Texas toast dipped in BBQ sauce was great! Only writing this review bc we love creekside and hate to see decline. Last order several weeks ago, brisket plate, was not fit to eat. Brisket was entirely too fatty, throughout the meat. So today we go back and got a bbq pork sandwich plate. Stew was good, as always. Mac n cheese wasn't done. Very soupy and just not eatable. Pork was just ok. My husbands words is that it was a C -. With so many good bbq places in the area, I'm not sure we are willing to give it another chance. Sad to see this happening to one of our favorite places. read more

This was honestly the worst bbq I've ever eaten in my life. Me and my wife ordered the 4 meat combo to split. Ribs brisket pulled pork and chicken. Each one we tried was worse then the other. The pulled pork was absolute mush, the brisket was like a soaking wet noodle. The Brunswick stew was supper bland, Mac and cheese inedible and the fried okra was just ok making it the best thing we were served. We ended up hardly eating much of it at all with our stomachs turning it was so bad. The service was, well pretty non existent. we had to ask for napkins, silverware, bbq sauce and refills. I politely asked for the manager which made it very clear to me that she could care less how I felt. She never offered any kind of hospitality whatsoever not even an apology. As much as I've loved this restaurant in the past, I have to say in the last year the quality has suffered greatly. Portions are about half what they once were and service has gone down as well. Three of the last 4 times I've been, they forgot to put the pork on my plate. Two of my visits I didn't even get a refill. First, I want to say the hostess was very sweet and that our server was great and attentive. Now the bad news... the brisket sandwich was so dry and the pieces were very thick and difficult to chew though. My collards were inedible as they were very very salty and bitter. I love collards and order them whenever I can but these were the worst. My husband's pulled pork plate was also a disappointment. The pork was dry, the baked bean were also dry and tasted as if they had been reheated several times. Cole slaw was mediocre. This was first and last visit to Creekside. read more

Ok, where do I begin? Me and my Mama went here this past Saturday(5-24-14), in the early afternoon around 2-3 and it wasn't busy at all when we got there. My mama ordered the catfish basket, I didn't order anything b/c I wasn't that hungry. We waited an unbelievebly long time considering that it wasn't that busy and we only ordered something simple. My mama was getting very impatient b/c she was hungry and then when she finally got her food she was very DISAPPOINTED b/c A.) there was only 1 piece of fish, B.) the piece of fish wasn't big at all especially for the price she paid, C.) she said that it wasn't good at all! Also, IN MY OPINION, the way that they take your to go order isn't "business efficient" adding to the inconvenience of the amount of time to wait. However, I probably would give it another chance the next time I'm in Anderson simply b/c I didn't eat, and would want to experience the bbq and the fact that our hostess was very nice and welcoming...that goes a long way for me. read more

I have to let you know how I tried Creekside for the first time.......I may have never tried them if not for a holiday between Christmas and New Years when one of my favorites was closed but Creekside was not and am I glad. I have reviewed a couple of Bbq restaurants in the Anderson area. Some better than others and some were very good but I have finally found what I believe to be the best in the area if not the state or beyond. So far I have only tried Creekside as carryout but I have to tell you that they KNOW BBQ. They even have burnt ends, if you have never tried them you should. They have a sauce for every taste and desired meat of choice. The owner of this restaurant, Kurt cooks on wood fires only, one of very few that do. I have tried the pulled pork, and the brisket (they have both fatty and lean on the brisket) be sure to ask the difference if you dont know. Dont leave without having desert, either of them. I'm partial to the Bannana Pudding.... The carryout service was excellent, from the front desk to the food that I took home, by the way Kurt took my order and filled it.....to me that IS customer service. I havent tried the sides yet but I will be visiting the restaurant in the near future for dine in service...I will update after that visit. read more

Great smoke flavor and huge portions! My wife got the the brisket plate and I had the chicken & ribs plate. Between the two plates we had more than we could possibly finish. All the meats were tender & juicy. For sides we had coleslaw, baked beans, and brunswick stew. The slaw was pretty much your typical slaw, nothing outstanding there. The beans were great - loved the flavor. The stew was a bit different than we are used to. It was pureed but I prefer to have the different components in their original form. The texture was hard to get used to but the flavor was excellent. My only minor gripe was the slow service. There was only one person eating there besides us, so I would have expected much more attentive, quick service. read more

I really wanted to like this place as I live 5 minutes down the road but the BBQ here is lacking. The sauce I had from here tasted like the just put vinegar in the bottles and a good BBQ sauce is a necessity at a BBQ joint! I also wanted to say that the waitresses were all carrying the bill folder thing in the back of their pants without having a shirt tucked in or anything! I thought that was kind of gross I don't want to touch other peoples butt juices when I'm paying lol. They weren't knowledgeable on their portion sizes either I tried to ask multiple times on portion sizing since I haven't been here before and the lady had no clue. I honestly was most disappointed in the food (besides the fried pickles those were delicious!!) We have been there many times and visits have never been without the owner coming out and personally checking on quality of the food and making sure everything else was up to or better than expectation!
