I have to thank my Boss/Friend for introducing me to this fabulous place. I ran an errand for my Boss during the holidays and it was to the Soap Kitchen. I was so amazed at all the variety of scented soaps they offer and loved that they actually have the kitchen in the location. The service was amazing and so super friendly. Well, not only did I get the errand I was suppose to get but I ended up picking up several soaps for myself. They have my favorite.....Sandalwood & Pachouli. Wow, I love this soap! I was given a few bars from a friend of mine and honestly I was going to regift them. I've always used Dial soap, period. hand made soaps these days are novelties and you cant always find them. im glad i found this place it was the perfect stop for my co-workers babyshower and mothers day. all organic/vegan they use the methods of old time of using fats but not animal fat instead its olive oil as the base. fragrant and amazing one thing though due to the low lighting it looks as if its closed but go to the door. read more

Loved this cute little store! When you walk in, you are greeted by a medley of lovely scents and warmly greeted by the lady who was working there. She told us they make everything on site, and she showed us some ingredients, many of which people use at home when cooking or baking, like cocoa powder, rosemary, and olive oil. I love supporting small businesses, especially ones like the Soap Kitchen where everything is made and managed on site. I've used products from Lush until I found this place. The Tea Tree face bar is fantastic--gentle on skin and lightly scented. Using it with a konjac sponge is so addicting. I bought the Black Gold bar for my boyfriend, and he's obsessed with it. I love love love love this place! it's a local, natural, female-owned business that makes wonderful soaps and lip balms. I don't live in LA any longer but order their lip balms and soaps by mail i love them so much. This place is awesome. My friends and I just went to this place today and the lady that was working their was so sweet to us. (Definitely not use to this kind of treatment especially since we are teenagers). I was the only one who purchased something but she gave my friends and I all free sample tea tree peppermint soap bars. It was pretty big too! We asked her a few questions about soap..one thing led to another..and we ended up in the very place where she makes her soap. I saw The Soap Kitchen featured on a tv show, so when I was in the area I made a point to stop in. Waaay better than I expected. The owner was gracious with her time (even gave us a glimpse of the kitchen) and superbly knowledgeable on all her products. I'm a recreational person so I picked up a Tea Tree Wake Up soap for acne and oily skin, and now I'm hooked. I was actual anxious when my bar faded away because it worked so well! Thankfully, the website had what I was looking for (and probably everything else too). It's tough to genuinely discern what's legitimately organic these days, but when I walked in the store, there was nothing perfumy or chemically overwhelming. All I know is that I paid less than other stores, the owner was fantastically helpful, and the product worked amazingly.... Yep, they've got a customer for life. read more

Stumbled upon this place while in Pasadena on business and stopped in to pick something up for my wife. The lady that helped me, presumably the owner, could not have been sweeter. She showed me around the store to find exactly what I "needed" and didn't harass me into buying anything I didn't "need" (tough to use the term need in a sentence about soap). I was looking for a birthday gift and stumbled upon this store in Old Town. They make their own soap in the back kitchen! I bought a set of 4 bars of soap, not thinking much of it. I couldn't smell that day due to my sinuses. The owner rang me up and gave my sister and I samples of the Green Tea Cubeba soap. I tried it in the shower the other day and it smelled so good! (Obviously, I got my sense of smell back.) I'm about to go back to get some soap for myself, maybe something with shea butter. I did knock off one star for the price. It's kind of expensive for soap- $1.75/ounce. I believe each bar is about 4 oz. However, it is handmade with no preservatives, so you do have to pay for quality. read more

I LOVE THE SOAP KITCHEN. This is the cutest and the friendliest shop around. I make my own soaps at home and I go to The Soap Kitchen for inspiration. People often think because I make my own that I don't need to buy any more soaps -- wrong! I have bought more soaps from this lovely shop since I started making my own. The soaps are very in high quality, with generous portion of olive oil and other natural oils. My favorites are Green Tea Cubeba and Rosemary Peppermint. I can easily drop my week worth of paycheck here with no regrets. Once you start using the all-natural soaps, you will never go back to the mass produced kind. I love the soaps here! I just started using the shampoo bars and fell in love with them! I was skeptical at first because I've tried others in the past and my hair felt awful after.  These bars leave my hair soft and clean!  They work best after clarifying with apple cider vinegar.  :) Dali and her mom are so helpful and sweet. Amaaaaaazing!!! This concluded our Melting pot tour and I learned that the Soap Kitchen is owned by one lady who graduated from USC and makes all of these soaps with olive oil! It is a sensory overload (in a good way) and knowing that what you put on your body is healthy and all natural is a plus. I bought a couple of soaps and hope they last long because any time you take care of your body it costs a little more. She leaves the glycerin in the soaps too that most soap companies take out. Really love the soap collection here! I love how everything is made naturally with no harsh chemicals. They're dog friendly too so you can easily bring your pup with you while you're shopping around. We were here for a good 20 minutes and the strong smell of soap really gets to you after awhile so you do need a breather. They're excellent and explaining to you the different soaps they have and what they're good for. They'll give you a sample as well! read more

I have been going to The Soap Kitchen for years after finding them on Huell Howser's California's Gold show. I use their tea tree oil soaps on my face as my daily cleaning ritual. I'm the kind of nerd that plops down in front of the rack of candles at the gift shop and sniffs every single one. So much so that people stare. According to Hubby, I am annoyingly obsessed with smell, so imagine my delight when we happened upon The Soap Kitchen! It was like walking into a perfectly climate controlled aromatic wonderland...mmmm. The shop is great for gift shopping--we were on a Mother's Day mission and found the perfect pressies here. There are tons of block soaps that you can have handcut or pre-made gift boxes of various sizes with assorted elements like mini loofahs, wooden soap dishes, and soaking salts. Best yet, the shop keepers were super nice when we inquired if you could choose the soaps for the gift basket we picked out--they helped us make up a new basket right on the spot. 10 points for unique kinds (citrus/eucalyptus/peppermint or geranium/rose petal). They even have block shampoo soaps (a concept which kind of confounds me, but it's probably the sort of thing men like for some reason--they always seem to be washing their hair with things that aren't shampoo). The soaking salts were really nice, too--eucalyptus and lavendar and then a muscle relaxing blend which we got for my mother-in-law since she runs a lot. Best yet? The aromotherapy for the products is cooked up right in the back of the shop! The Scent Technician/Soap Master/Laboratory Goddess behind all the yummy smells was putting together essential oils and herbs right where you could watch her do so, thus treating us to a constant aromatic heaven. I would highly recommend this store if you are having dry skin problems. I have tried different soaps and skin lotions for years but since buying my first bar from the Soap Kitchen earlier this year I have not had itchy skin. I couldn't recommend just one soap as they are all good. There is a large assortment to choose from. Yes, they are more expensive than other soaps but they actually work in helping your skin. It feels great to purchase a fantastic product from a small company whose owner takes great pride in her product! read more
