    Sweet Delicious

If you are looking for a place where we can fulfill the desire of sweet tooth taste you will definitely find @ The Social Blend. The Social Bleed is located inside Scarborough Town Centre (STC) in Scarborough, ON is a lovely place to be. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city in spite of being in the city . There's ample parking space around the building. The place has the nice indoor seating arrangements and the seating arrangement is super comfortable. The staff is really nice, friendly and explains everything in detail.Pricing is decent, good value for money and the place is more suitable for a group of people.

One of my favourite spots for macaroons in the city! I'm a huge macaroon lover and I've to say the flavours that The Social Blend comes up with every month, has to be the best in town. Literally all of the ones that I've had till now tastes good and I'm left with craving for more, always!

I got my first encounter with the macarons from The Social Blend today! I tried out the injeolmi and double raspberry flavours. I personally hate the taste and texture of cream so if you are like me I'd recommend the injeolmi flavour over the double raspberry flavour. I did find it a bit lacking in the flavour taste. Macarons shells are made with basically 100% sugar so I'd say they nailed that. The staff there were super friendly and personal.

I've been dying to try Social blend for some time so was ecstatic when they opened up a location at Scarborough town center . Unfortunately my expectations exceeded the reality . Aesthetic wise , A+. I'd definitely give it a solid 4. The Korean macaroons looked so mouthwatering and scrumptious! Taste wise , it was honestly nothing special , so I'd give it a 2. I might return to try some of the other desserts but likely only for the pics

Personally like the green grape macaroon more, taste a bit refreshing, perfect for the summer. The blueberry cheesecake is good as well. The staff was nice, ambiance.. well it's inside a mall by the food court, so it's don't expect much

I was so excited to try this place after seeing amazing photos online. At first glance, the macarons were a lot smaller than I expected, though they were all super gorgeous. I ended up getting a box of 5. They were quite pricey for the size but comparable to other macaron places. I got the tiramisu, milk chocolate, injeolmi, blueberry cheesecake, and the matcha KitKat. I was especially excited about the injeomi since it's unique and showcases the Korean flavour, however it was quite bland. The injeomi didn't really come through, and it just tasted like cream. The other flavors were also very muted and didn't pack quite a punch like other macarons I've tried from other places. Overall, definitely something to get for instagram, but I'd rather opt for a cheaper macaron for the same quality.

Went in and found it is a regular Chinese bakery. (Should have checked on yelp first as several others mentioned this in the past.) It's a small bakery, with wear and tear showing its age, but still had a number of offerings. We got six buns (not pictured) including red bean pineapple bun, pork bun, luncheon meat with egg buns, curry beef bun, and hotdog bun. We also got two cakes, chocolate and red bean&white chocolate cake. Total came to under $30. When we got in (around 2:45pm), the lady was on lunch break on the phone. We were already waiting up at the cash, trying to tell her our cake order but she was still on the phone for a while longer. She bagged the buns while on the phone. The cakes were not bad, the chocolate cake being a bit too dark for my daughter's liking. We enjoyed the lighter red bean and white chocolate cake. She did tape the cakes down in the box but they still ended up rolling around anyway, I guess from our drive/handling.

Nothing to do with Japanese bakeries at all, so keep that in mind coming to pick up treats. Due to their niche, most of their cakes are light, airy and not too sweet. No heavy flavors here. We tried a selection of their single cakes and shared one of their sponge cakes. The standout of the bunch was the coffee or the chocolate cake. Both are still mousse-based but has a stronger flavor. Great price at only around $3 each! Perfect with a cup of tea for an afternoon snack.

I actually wanted to bake one, but my decorating skills are not that advanced! I was intrigued by the good reviews of Sugar Peony, and knowing chestnuts are a family favorite, I went with the 6" French Chestnut cake. I placed the order over the phone with Linda (48 hours is required) and she assured me it would be fresh. I purchased a Groupon for a 6" cake at $28.80 and redeemed it with no problems. It seems the majority of people use a Groupon to purchase the cakes or macarons. I personally could not see myself paying the regular price of $58 + tax, so it was a good deal. I arrived just when the boutique was opening at 12 noon and met with Linda. She explained how she used fresh chestnuts and I was quite surprised because the majority of cakes, even from high-end patisseries uses chestnut puree. Linda said the puree would make the cake too sweet, so I was excited to taste it! The cake was fresh, moist and decorated beautifully. We are not fans of super sweet desserts, so if you are looking for a cake that is very low on the sweetness scale, these types of cakes are perfect. While the chestnut flavor was not predominant, the caramel flavored Callebaut "crispearls" added a nice textural crunch. The other flavors of cakes may be interesting to try next time.

From the sign in large letters outside, to the displays of macaroons by the counter, to the brightly painted interior, it is literally like a shining beacon in the middle of nowhere. The owner herself is also such a lovely lady - I could tell by her patience when I was placing my order (telling me all about the cake flavours, the ingredients, when and how to pick up, etc.) how dedicated she is to what she does. And it clearly showed in the dessert itself. I first chanced upon this store on Yelp, which mentioned a Groupon that offered a heavily discounted price - so of course I had to look into it. Using that (about 50% off) coupon, I ordered a chocolate élysée cake for Mother's Day. The cake came out even more beautifully than I expected, and was an absolute delight to eat. The varying layers of chocolate - the slightly bitter frosting, the richly sweet inside, the chocolate pieces decorating the top and sides - all blended perfectly, as did the textures, smooth and velvety throughout until you get to the wonderfully crunchy bottom. It was a feast for our eyes, too, as my mom commented that it was almost a pity to cut the cake apart - and the packaging is probably one of the prettiest I've seen (or maybe I just like the pink colour. Lol). Why 4 stars (instead of 5)? Well, I did come here on a Groupon...and the original price of $58 for a 6 inch cake is just WAY too much. If ever I need a specialty cake for an occasion, though, this place is on my radar. :)

Perhaps it's because of the colourful display from the moment you step inside, or the seemingly endless list of flavours on the wall staring back at you, or maybe it's because the moment you swing open the door, a friendly storeowner readily appears at your service? Hm... what will I have today? Pro tip: as the store owner would tell you, wait a few min for the ice cream sandwich to thaw before biting in. About 5 min is good and enough time to take Yelp pics. The only unfortunate thing for me is that they're downtown and I'm uptown! Regardless, I always make an effort to drop by whenever I can. Their opening hours are not too friendly though... But I guess you can say that adds to their appeal. This little shop could really use more publicity. I believe we have to get more people eating macaron ice cream sandwiches this summer.
