I was desperately looking for somewhere for my 50 person group to go because the Benson Hotel could not take a group this large. It suddenly dawned on me that Big Pink has a beautiful tree we could pose in front of instead. I drove over to make sure they put up a Christmas tree this year and passed by this AMAZING pop up Christmas bar! Errrr..... (my car brakes) I parked and went in to talk to the manager. Yes, they could handle a group our size. Yay! This meant we had a go-ahead for stop #2. So, after taking photos at Big pink, we all crossed the street and came to Social Soup. Like the manager promised, there was room for us upstairs and adequate staff to order all the crazy-fun drinks and food (if we wanted to). We all got a cool drink (or 2) and stayed about 90 minutes, taking photos of the explosion of Christmas decor. To get out of the regular patrons way, we went upstairs and took over a lobby area, which had tables and seating. We had so much fun here and the staff was EXCELLENT! Thanks to them, they saved my hotel lobby Christmas tree crawl! Hopefully they will do this again next Christmas. Woot woot! read more

Went for the Sippin on Santa pop up and it was super cute! The restaurant is so cutely decorated; they went all out! There's many different areas to sit, each with its own vibe. I got the non alcoholic seasonal drink and it was yummy! I also got the elote salad, which was also good. You can buy the cute little festive cups that the drinks come in too. I recommend going if you're feeling particularly in the spirit this year. I'm personally on a Christmas bar pop- up crawl myself. read more

This place was ok. I went for the "Sippin Santa" pop up thing they did, I think that's what it's called, and enjoyed some things. The place looked well decorated and the cocktails were interesting but the prices were high and the cocktails were meh. Nothing I would order try again. They were super understaffed as well. Poor server was running around everywhere and didn't ask us for our first drink for like 40 minutes and then we had to bug him for a check an hour later. read more

What the... ?! OK, walked in just now at 10:10am, sat at the bar since I was alone. 1 lady working there was making a drink, avoiding eye contact. A busser came out with clean glasses, and then an actual server came out, made herself a drink and... left, then came back and asked a guy who came in 5 minutes after me what he wanted. We walked past this place, only to find the restaurant we had planned on going to was closed for the evening. So we hesitantly decided to give it a try. There were 2 people at the bar. The remainder of the restaurant was empty. The menu looked acceptable. Limited choices to mostly sandwiches and salads. They did have a steak frite and fish and chips that, by description sounded good. Prices were reasonable for downtown. Our server was pleasant and quick to welcome us. We both got something off the sandwich list and were pleasantly surprised. Burger was cooked to order. Fries were really yum with a side of jalapeño ranch. Side salad was a huge portion. Drinks were great. Definitely would recommend. Happy hour menu looked good as well. read more

Sunday Brunch or Silent Vigil? We walked into this place on a Sunday morning expecting a brunch crowd and instead found a ghost town. After a brief existential wait to be acknowledged, we were told by someone to "sit anywhere." Apparently, "anywhere" included the first table we chose, which came with a complimentary pile of floor-trash underneath. After a quick relocation and a 10-minute meditation session waiting for a menu, things finally looked up: our server Nathaniel was actually fantastic--attentive, friendly, and engaging. Unfortunately, the hospitality couldn't save the menu: * The Coffee: In Portland, serving "un-drinkable" coffee is practically a felony. This was a crime. * The Food: Mediocre at best, yet priced at a bold $20-ish per plate. * The Vibe: There was no music. It was so deathly silent that I felt like I should be delivering a eulogy instead of eating eggs. Honestly, I could have gone to Starbucks for a latte and a scone, saved $10, gotten an hour of my life back and enjoyed a much livelier atmosphere. If you're looking for a somber place to mourn your appetite, this is the spot. Otherwise? Pass. I would have given one star but gave two because Nathaniel saved it from one star. First time in Portland. This is my first stop. Waiting here for a friend whose flight was delayed ::: shakes fist at O'Hare Airport ::: what a vibe! Super appreciative at the fact that they are open early and serve breakfast. Had eggs and sausage sourced locally (all about that). It's the vibe for me! Great art. Reasonably priced dishes and hospitality is too notch. Mimosas are great. I appreciate a sidecar of grapefruit juice! Sidebar: Entrance is in Oak street through the Marriott hotel. The venue boasts two floors. Second floor has a lounge feel to it with a bar station in the corner and speaker so there is evidence of a turn up! I do love the outdoor feel inside and games available if you want to hang a while. Like, what I am doing now. Jeffrey is excellent! He gave me the skinny about Portland and also the story behind the awesome art. I truly appreciate a venue that supports its local artists by showcasing their work! It's my first day here so I will do a follow up on some tips. But a great stop in and there is WiFi so you can multitask, study, work, chill out - whatever. Can't speak on dinner at this time because they will close at 2PM and set up for dinner at 4PM. I'm digging this place. I recommend it. Also the art is for sale. Get into it! read more

Stayed for the weekend at the Marriot decided to check this spot out for breakfast on Monday. Food took literally over 40 minutes to get to our table. People sat after us, got their food and ate before we did. All we ordered was the breakfast sandwich and the donut holes. Extremely frustrating experience, do not recommend this place. read more

Honestly ... no , I stayed there over the weekend . Decided to check it out since I get $10 off being elite Marriott. I really wanted to like but ... the bartender there must of been having a bad day , was rude . $16 for mediocre wings , very pricey for subpar food . No one ever there I see why ... don't waste your time and money there read more
