Top Tier of Tea Service (2 person)

We went for the holiday tea service- 3 adults and 3 kids. We were a little disappointed that our table was in the main restaurant instead of the library/study area. Our server Tina was nice, but seemed like she wasn't feeling good- she seemed off. We had to asked for things several times- cocktail menu, napkins (one of the kids's hot chocolate was served with hot chocolate all over it), water, etc. We had to wait a long time to get our glasses of champagne. In years past they have offered a separate/different kid friendly option for the kid's tea service and this year that was not the case. I did appreciate that they offer a kid's price option though. My mom's gluten free tea service had mostly sweets and little savory options as in previous years. We were surprised by the 3% credit card recovery tax which was almost $10. Overall we had a great time, it just wasn't the same experience as years prior.

I had not been to the Heathman in eons so I had not experienced the new 'Tavern'. White Bird performance tickets get some deep discounts at a few local restaurants, including this one. A friend I was going with chose this spot. I have some varied memories of the Heathman. As a teen, a huge group of my friends (which included several mohawks and/or Liberty spikes) would gather for hours of loitering over loaves of bread and water at the 'long table'. We were terrible and gee, for some reason they later discontinued the $1.25 fresh loaf of bread with butter off their menu. Years later they served a friend a $20 'scallop'...as an appetizer on a platter level plate with a ridiculous painting of sauces. It was so over the top - especially because the scallop was ridiculously small and not even cooked that well. This is a whole new thing and was experiencing a whole new restaurant. I started with the house pinot noir which was amazing. If you are seeing a show next door, I highly suggest that you get their fixed menu because it is a great deal and experience. The first course is shared smoked salmon topped with roe with salt and vinegar chips. It was some hefty heat which is not usually my thing but this did have an incredible flavor. The next course was a salad with a ridiculously great champagne vinaigrette. I was a bit disappointed at their coq en vie interpretation, but it is hard to compete with the ones I have had elsewhere. Honestly, it was heavy handed (unnecessarily) with pepper and if they just served it as a roasted chicken, it would make more sense. The best thing about their fixed menu is that you can opt to have your dessert after the show. This is brilliant since most people will order at least one more drink. I loved that we were able to just casually leave the show, walk next door and have a great talk about the performance over a delicious dessert. I got the white chocolate tart with strawberries plus a raspberry kamikaze served up. It was a lovely conversation and we were seated in the bar area as they closed down the larger portion of the restaurant making it more intimate. Such a great end to a nice evening.

Fun!! We ended our night after listening to Tower of Power and the Oregon Symphony . What a great combo. We walked right next door to grab an after hour drink and appetizer. The hostess was a bit overwhelmed, but he quickly adjusted to the crowd and everyone was very nice. He sat us down and hand us a menu. Our server was quick to bring water, take our drink order and appetizer. It was packed. We ordered the Meat and Cheese platter along with a Porter and a Martini Espresso. Everything was simply delicious after a great concert. Recommend for Spirits after a musical event. Tower of Power band actually came through the bar. We'll definitely come back!!

We were going to an event at the Schnitz and decided to come in here for dinner first. Great decision! We were on the restaurant side as we weren't drinking. The decor is modern and classy. Casual or formal fits here. We started with the smoked salmon dip. The chips are homemade and really tasty. The dip was addicting. Wasn't sure at first, but we all really liked it. Our friends had the salmon and smoked chicken - both loved their meals. My wife ordered their house pasta. It is slightly spicy with lamb meatballs. Amazing! Really good! I decided to try their burger. OMG! This is literally a perfect burger. I added bacon, which was great. (I'm not sure it was needed, but it was good.) High-quality meat, great cheese, great sauce, and I think homemade pickles. Just a phenomenal burger! We'll come back as everything was good- but I can't wait to get another burger here!

Best bite of the trip. Yoghurt and granola made on the premises.

The food, service and ambience does not get better than this tavern adjacent to the Heathman hotel. Our breakfast was beyond the pale delicious. The salmon hash with an egg on top was wonderful. But even better was the yogurt made on the premises with a little bit of honey, and mango purée homemade granola (so much better than my own) and freshly cut, peaches and nectarines. This is what dreams are made of.

High Tea was perfect. Madeline was awesome! Delicious assortment of Smith Teas. Such a fun and festive place during the holidays, warm, cozy and inviting. And Gluten Free options as well.

    Smith as silk!

Great ambience, location, quiet room last night. Just a great treat. We had the best after dinner cocktails while having a great conversation at the bar. So grateful to have a restaurant back here. Highly recommend!

    Crab Benedict

Came in for breakfast after an awesome night stay at the Heathman. We had the crab Benedict, the toast, some fruit and a corned beef hash. Everything was fantastic. The restaurant is also very beautiful. Complements to the chef and our lovely waitress Connie.

Cutest date night spot! This is a newer restaurant and everything on the menu sounds great! Ive tried many things on the menu and I've had breakfast and dinner here and it did not disappoint. I've tried the salmon hash, the French toast and the breakfast sandwich. All so good! The dinner menu is definitely upscale. But i stepped out of my comfort zone and i was so glad i did. My favorites had to be the salmon appetizer, the chicken, steak and the salad! Everything tastes so fresh. The presentation is also 10/10. From the meals to the dessert and even the drinks. The service is also amazing and my water glass was never empty.

Miss the flowered teapots and teacups

Nice hotel, was under construction during our stay! Resort fee felt odd. Bar and food were just okay, nothing too impressive.

Bartenders kick ass. The hotel needs to give them more support! Drinks are punched out and are good but no follow up and asdistance.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

But as soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is beautiful, with a stylish central bar that immediately catches your eye. Although they do serve food, I wasn't very hungry, so I decided to just enjoy a couple of drinks. There are a few dining tables inside if you're planning to have a meal as well. The bartender was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with me after I asked for a few recommendations. The drinks were excellent, well-balanced, flavorful, and actually tasted like proper cocktails instead of just juice. They definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol either! I'm really glad I chose this place to celebrate. It ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion.
