Our waitress was pleasant and prompt throughout our dinner. On our first visit my co-diner ordered the fried scallops, and thought they were very tasty. So, on this visit we ordered: * 2 - Fried Scallop Baskets (one with regular fries, the other with sweet potato fries) * Chicken Wings Side with BBQ Sauce Our order arrived quite quickly, and I immediately sampled a sweet potato fry. Tasty! Hot, crispy, and nicely cooked. The same could be said for the regular fries. It's unfortunate so many restaurants are French fried challenged, with fries that are served too cool and limp. Kudos to Juicy Seafood for great fries. The scallops were also tasty, with or without the bread crumbs (which come off very easily). They were fresh tasting, very hot and very juicy. However, the chicken wings were not good, they were overcooked, overloaded with sauce and difficult to eat. I wouldn't recommend those. Overall, we were happy with our dinner and would be delighted to return.

The best thing they made was the tuna tar tar, ironically. Then to top off a not great 200.00 experience for 2 people, it took the waitress 15 more minutes to bother to come back and run the card. Maybe drinks and apps on the deck only. Very dissapointing. Lesson learned which I knew... don't get seafood so far from the coast.

Nice for entertaining - and that is where the party was. It can easily fit about 20-30 people. We had cake for the birthday and people ordered drinks at the bar. The bartender was very friendly. Looks like a neighborhood bar where people know each other. They have some bar food like pretzel, hot dog - the hot dog was only $3 which is unbelievable! Anyway we all had a great time- played some corn-hole too!

We had reservations for 6 on a Friday night at 9pm. We, being a bunch of guys in town for the weekend to celebrate the impending wedding of one of our good friends, showed up and were told to hang out in the bar which we did. We ordered a few drinks and were then told our table was ready so we headed to a great 6 top at the very back of the restaurant. When the waitress showed up we ordered another round of drinks and tons of apps for the table. The waitress was an older lady who took her job (waaaaay tooo) seriously and carded all of us as hard as she could. Since we are all around 40 it was kind of comical but we let it go. Then she asked who was driving home. "We have a car picking us up at 10:30," She proceeded to give me a high five for having foresight and then walked off. Literally we were all complimenting the food, the drinks, and the table we were given in semi-isolation where we could make a few toast. What a great place! Good Job! At this moment our waitress walks back over and tells us there will be no more drinking as she's (this is the real quote) "afraid for our safety" if she were to serve us another round. What?! Ok- most of us had only had a single drink. To say that she understood what was going on would not be the truth. In retrospect I think it was the NYC id's we all have because that's where we live, but she wanted us to leave even though there had not been a single incident. I hadn't even finished the only drink I was going to be served and she's "Worried about my safety?" At that point we had all already ordered our main course and she asked if we wanted to leave due to the service situation. We all still needed to eat and it was 9:30 or so.... we said yes and waited for our food. It didn't come. And then we waited some more.... didn't come. She eventually walked over and asked us if we were sure we didn't want to leave. Honestly we would have at that point but where would we go? We were starving. She put our orders in finally but the truth is they didn't want us there. Whether it was prejudice against out-of-owners, good ol' Massachusetts puritanism, or just a plain misunderstanding- they did not want us and we're happy never to go back. read more

We were greeted by a big, cheesy, inflatable crab draped over the entrance. Our party of four went with the intention of talking over dinner. We were told it would be a half hour wait, and we accepted. 10 minutes later, they seated us in the bar. Had we known, we would have asked to keep waiting for a table in a dining area. Bar was so loud and crowded we ended up not really talking. Since we had to shout. My cocktail was superb, that's how they got an extra star from me. My lobster bisque was bland, underseasoned, and had been reheated too harshly so all the bisque-ness was gone. Just slop. It had some very nice pieces of meat for a garnish. Such a shame. Our waiter did take notice that I hadn't enjoyed it and was kind enough to comp that. My swordfish was slightly overdone but the blackened seasoning was nice. Boring mashed potatoes and overcooked zucchini and squash were reminiscent of my work cafeteria. My partner's broiled scallops were unseasoned and overcooked. Again, a shame. My friend across from me had opted for spinach. It was a mess. The stems were left on and it was overcooked and.... you guessed it! Underseasoned. We weren't wowed. Dishes here are not a good value. We appreciated that it was quality and we weren't made sick but I feel that the bill was about $20 more than it should have been for such a mediocre experience. read more

The lobster bisque was the best. Our waitress, Amelia, was the sweetest person - the restaurant is lucky to have her be a part of their team. She was so patient with us because we took light years to decide on what we wanted, provided our party with the best service and made sure all of our glasses were full throughout our entire meal. My boyfriend and his brother were adamant about offering her a job to handle their customer service department! Unfortunately, Amelia would have to relocate to California so the guys didn't get to propose the idea to her, lol. We ordered 4lbs (2lbs per plate) of the stuffed lobster. The lobster was topped with scallops and the scallops were lightly battered and cooked to perfection. The hard shell lobsters were delicious, meaty and fresh. I was looking forward to the Ora King Salmon plate but it was a big let down. The salmon was overcooked and wasn't worth what previous reviews have hyped it up to be. I recommend sticking to the lobster dishes here at the Sole Proprietor. The fresh oysters here were great. It came with several sauces, some seemed to be house special sauces that complimented the oysters really well. The Sole Proprietor would be a great place for a date or birthday dinner - the ambiance was really nice and Amelia, our waitress was seriously, Boston's angel. read more

I was heading to a pizza place across the street and stumbled across this place. They had a huge parking lot so I figured I would just go eat here. The interior was very nice and the service was very friendly. I ordered the salmon with asparagus, calm chowder, cherry oyster and the apple crumble with ice cream. The cherry oyster was amazing. It tasted fresh, chewy and I could taste the saltyness. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It pretty much melted in my mouth with the crispy skin on the outside. It was done really well because I didn't have any burnt taste. The claim chowder was somewhat light. It really didn't have a strong taste and not much claim meat. I could have done without the claim chowder. The apple crumble was ok. The apples and the ice cream were good but the breading was too much. Overall not bad. It sacked that they put me alone in the corner with all other tables open but I guess that's to the only table for 1? I would have like to be put in a booth so I can people watch lol. read more

Zero stars (unfortunately, I had to choose at least one star, but one is a big lie). These people do not care about the customer or experience. They are only in it for the money. I've personally witnessed their discrimination and absurd rude behavior and because of that, I believe their business should be shut down. I can also say for sure that their executives (managers and whatnot) are the worst of them all. I watched them actually put in an effort to make people's days worse. If you want to enjoy fresh seafood, I'd say check out the coast. Because these landlocked idiots sure do NOT know what fresh really is. I don't know where their sense of righteousness comes from, but it definitely is not warranted. Have a horrible days Sole Proprietors. Never again will I come near your disgusting establishment. read more

I've lived in Worcester for 23 years and every once in awhile someone wants to go to the Sole. I am not a fan, but they do so much advertising that a friend or family member who has never gone picks this place as our meeting spot. In short, the food is overpriced, the staff act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to be there and I always feel like I wasted my time and money on the place. As a "Worcesterite" i definitelly feel the owners pay much more attention to the other 2 places they own...It takes more than nice decorating and ample parking to please me, maybe it'sme, but I like to enjoy the food when I go out to eat... read more

i tend to go 3 to 4 times a year i always like their food always fresh tonite went for mothers day with my wife and kids they were busy but not crazy busy service was way below what i was used to ,we had scallops shrimp tuna tow orders of n.y steak and i asked if they can do shrimp scampi the waitress said they can even though it wasn't on the menu after a long wait to my shock a long hair in my spaghetti and to my surprise the response from both the waitress and the manager as if it was not a big deal but it it was because i wit home hungry i am giving them 2 stars for previous visits read more

For restaurant week, I went to the Sole with my cousin for lunch. I'm a huge seafood fan, and I have to admit, this was delicious! I had the dinner offer for lunch, which is similar to chop 111 but with crab cakes instead of lobster. The crab cakes were crispy, with moist crab parts compacted together, but they tasted fluffy and light despite their compact density. With each chew, the steak was perfectly cooked, medium-rare but smooth and melted in my mouth. Just before restaurant week, the prices are reasonable. It comes highly recommended. read more

With a smaller, more homey feel, this restaurant is like Legal Seafood. New, delicious seafood combined with flavors and sides that are gourmet-inspired, with a warm, social atmosphere and the prices to go with it. If you don't make reservations, you might end up waiting a long time, depending on the day and time. There is a loud bar in the front, but once you walk through it, you can find a lovely dining room. Ordered Scallops and fillet with stuffed shrimp. Scallops were good but, fillet was over cooked - well done instead of medium rare. Server was nowhere to be found. I ate what I could. After waiting way too long, we decided to cut our evening short and went home early. The Sole was off the list because of past experiences. A $5 Firecracker Sushi roll (lobster meat, crispy sweet potato strings, and avocado rolled into a beautiful sushi roll...for $10, you can get TWO!) would astound you. . I love their $5 kettle pots, and even though their lobster roll is one of the tiniest I've ever seen, it's a bargain at $5. We've never spent more than $60 for two people imbibing $5 martinis while enjoying this limited-time-offer on food items, but we've still rolled out fat and happy. read more

Five star if you are willing to pay for it. My friend and I had a nice dining experience here. Had a bottle of wine, absolutely great wine, and some mussels that were so yum. Mussels were made fresh, I think, not frozen because they were very tender. Top of the line service and atmosphere, which you would expect from a place like this. Not a fan. I have NEVER had an outstanding meal at the Sole. EVER! The seafood is fresh and good - but not memorable. If I have to meet someone in this area of Worcester, I'll go here for a drink in the bar and a few oysters, but will not dine here anymore. The Sole has been the place in Worcester to get seafood for years. I've probably dined there over a hundred times and have only been disappointed once or twice. I'm surprised more people haven't discovered that The Sole is also a great place to go late at night. You can get great food at the bar after midnight. read more

Unfortunately that's were the positives end. The restaurant in unbearably loud. They start you off with bread and unseasoned oil which is weird, no parmesean, chili flakes, oregano? Nothing, just olive oil. We started with calamari, which was mostly tenticles, I don't mind this, but my wife only likes the rings. My wife ordered the surf and turf, I ordered the FraDiavlo. The food came out in decent time. Which can be added to the good column. Upon delivery the first thing we noticed is that the chef cut the steak in half. This caused the juices to run out leaving it dry, the surf was 3 shrimp, which seemed like they are precooked and used for either cocktail or this dish as they were chewy. My guess is they are precooked, chilled and brushed with oil and herbs before broiling to warm them up. The FraDiavlo lacked any hint of chili pepper and I had to request chili flakes just to make it edible. It consisted of 2 scallops, 4 shrimp and 2 chick lobster pincher claws. In summary, under seasoned, over cooked food in a place where you can't hear yourself think. Plans on spending upwards of $200 if you want wine or dessert. We won't be returning as there are far better restaurants in the area.

Once inside, the lighting shifts to a nicely dimmed atmosphere that still feels comfortable and easy to navigate. We had a separate area for our group, and it was spacious enough to move around and mingle without feeling cramped, which I really appreciated. We had a three-course, set menu, and I started with the chicken soup. It was light and comforting, a great way to warm up the palate, especially since it was cold out that night. For my entrée, I chose the chicken parmesan. The chicken itself was crispy and not overly breaded, which I liked. I did wish there was a bit more sauce on the pasta, but overall it was still a solid dish. Dessert was cheesecake, which was nicely moist and topped with fresh berries. Our dinner also included complimentary drinks, and the service throughout the evening was very good. The staff was attentive and answered questions easily which was great for this larger dinner. Overall, Via Italian Table is a great option for company dinners or group events, but I'd also stop back in on my own even if just for a light drink at the bar.

Other people go drinks and just before we left bartender walked up and asked if we were eating. said yes, got menus. Waited, watching as others get drinks while bartender (not intentionally?) ignored us. Took dinner order from the other couple, and he turned around again. That was enough. Yes, bar was busy but that's a management problem. Saw no floor manager at front desk or at bar or...anywhere. Three stars because the restaurant is good, but hope management sees this as constructive feedback.

The food overall has always been consistently good, they've never changed; not even their spicy mayo and I love that so much!! All of the appetizers, entrees, sushi & drinks are phenomenal. They never miss. The staff is always so nice and attentive, even if the place is busy. They have 2 small parking lots, one in the front of the building and one out back. They're also on DoorDash now. Out of all the sushi places in Worcester, Kai's is top notch for me. Argue with your mama!

Once they announce it, you need to call immediately or get shut out. My observation about the place itself. The U shaped bar is gigantic for the space. It's a bar-bar too not like a sushi counter. This seems to draw a crowd of local drinkers rather than the normal sushi crowd. You feel like you walked into a sports bar. The place was really loud and it was hard to hear the chef explaining everything. Once seated... it's the chefs carving the tuna off to the side. There were 2 bar tenders making drinks and like 3 chefs cutting tuna.... other than that, no waitstaff. Which is really odd. You have to grab the manager who was running around helping to get your Wasabi refilled. Not to mention they gave zero place settings for about 8 of us, until we asked. The bar tenders seemed to pass over my empty drink until I asked for a refill too. It's a more chaotic event than I would have liked for $120 per person. It also takes time to carve the tuna so if you arrive hungry be prepared to not get your first tiny bite until 45 minutes after the start. The star was Chef Timmy. Honestly he was awesome. The tuna.... so good. You end to with only 3 pieces of Nigiri which was a little disappointing but the sashimi part was unlimited. Of course you have to take your plate up and ask for some. They only put about 6 small pieces of the various cuts per trip. I think I went up 5 times for sashimi alone. The tuna handrolls you can make yourself or ask the chef nicely. Those were really good. Probably best I ever had because it's so fresh. There is a limited amount of the highly prized (and highly priced) Kamatoro, but you can experience it here as it's included in the experience. That's a hard cut to find. The finale was a shot of tuna spinal fluid. My first time with that but it's not bad. You're probably looking at $150 per person unless you order alcohol than it's alot more. The fresh cut tuna is amazing. I'm glad I did it. The chaos and the setting made it less than ideal. I don't think I would go again to this location for it. One and done. It's a bit weird that you're paying $120 for this and you're still intermingled with local patrons just there to grab some beers after work and watch the game. Because of the massive bar it is impossible to create a space secluded to do it. They also should have a roaming waiter at least taking care of the 30 people who came for this experience.
