Throughout the process Strategic Air Services bent over backwards to make it right and that dear reader, is who you want servicing your HVAC. Chad and his supervisor came out multiple times, including after hours, to keep me comfortable and get to the bottom of the problem. They brought a floor AC unit, ran diagnostics on the outdoor board, corrected previously installed improper wiring, and ultimately replaced the first outdoor Daikin unit late on a Friday night. They rep Daikin because the company is Houston‑based and parts are readily available -- and thank goodness, because otherwise I might still be without AC. Yes, the first Daikin unit had a bad board, that happens in the world of manufacturing. What counts is how a company handles such situations. I was given every consideration, and their attitude, Professionalism, and commitment to making it right was impeccable. I'll continue relying on them for all my HVAC needs.

We hired QLS to install a mini split for us in our pool house in 2017, we had a few issues taken…read morecare of by other companies throughout the years. Nothing was ever noted that installation was done poorly or incorrectly, as you can't see into the wall to know until after what happened as that could not be seen. Fast forward about 5 years, and the unit on the back of the house fell off the wall, causing damage to the electrical wiring and copper tubing. We contacted QLS for service to look at the unit, determine why it had fallen and to see if it could be repaired. QLS did come out this time and re-hung the unit, stating it wasn't bolted into any studs and only the siding and the OSB. The technicians couldn't get the unit working on the first visit. They dropped off the disconnect breaker at the door to my kids and said they didn't have one. I was able to test the breaker and determine it was functional and opened the cover for the electrical wiring and found the supply wiring was not visible as it pulled into the flex conduit coming from the disconnect to the unit. I re-terminated the wiring and the unit powers up but won't blow cold air. I let QLS know what I found and they said they would come back out. The tech on the second visit ended up fixing the unit letting us know the copper tubing was crushed and all the refrigerant had leaked out, was able to un-kink the tubing and recharge the system. They later sent an invoice for $811, without ever confirming the estimate with us prior to fixing the unit or even giving us a clue as to what it might cost. We would NOT have approved of that cost. We would have said we do not need the unit anymore, we already have a window unit in there from the other times it did not work. We feel this should have been communicated better and honestly feel taken care of by the company, not because they had to or it was under warranty. Obviously, it wasn't by this time. But more to do with the fact that properly installed units do not just fall off walls for no reason. It wasn't neglect or even an accident on our part. Even QLS admits that units do not just fall off the wall, and they provided some pretty wild hypotheses as to how a motorcycle driving through our yard knocked it off the wall, while not physically damaging the units frame or coil fins, not even a scratch on the paint. (We do not own a motorcycle, the marks the tech saw were clearly from mowing the area so that the tech could access the unit). If the owner would have really analyzed the images we sent, he would see that it's technically impossible for the unit to have been hit due to placement and tracks. Well played QLS, doing some questionable work in hopes that by the time anyone notices, you can technically and legally claim it's not your problem anymore.

Something happened to the thermostat and it wasn't working. I called QLS on a Friday and they told me to call Honeywell as their techs don't reprogram the thermostats. I found out then that Honeywell outsources troubleshooting to Resideo. Resideo call center keeps regular office hours so I did not have AC for a weekend. Since the Resideo Tech and I could not get the thermostat to work, I called QLS again who sent a tech out, and he replaced the old one. I called Resideo back and they helped me reprogram the thermostat. I've had no more problems with it. QLS didn't charge for that visit. In October, I was having trouble with the heater. I called QLS and a technician came out. He looked over the system and had to replace the circuitboard. I asked him if I could pay the bill and he said there would be no charge as the part was under warranty. Later in October, I received a text message that I owed for the service. I called and Vanessa said she would check into it, I assumed everything was taken care of. Today I get another text message that I owe for the visit back in October. When I called in, I was told that while the tech was here, he did a semi-annual checkup on the unit and that's what I'm being charged for. I was very upset because I'd been told by the tech I didn't owe for of the visit- had he told me I owed for a check up, I would have paid it during the original visit. When I called in back in October to the office, I assumed everything was fine because I heard nothing back for a month. QLS is extremely responsive to calls, and their texts are professional and friendly. But beware of communication issues and charges.

Every root cause was from something done incorrectly during install. We have damaged and unrepaired siding from install, water damaged drywall and paint from the follow on issues. After multiple attempts to extract my brush, frustrated by tight quarters and a poorly placed HVAC condenser, they were able to extract my poorly executed tool (Important Homeowner Maintenance Tip 1: pay the professionals for this relatively routine stuff instead of trying to DIY when you don't have the proper tools or time to!). We haven't been able to clear the blockage yet (Important Maintenance Tip 2: Clean your dryer duct more than once every two decades!), but they've given me some professional perspectives, options, and worked their collective butts off to clear the obstacles.
