From the decor to the bakery items, I would say this place is a five star because you can see the care and the homemade aspect of each item but I love is the variety of cookies and pastries and of course people talked about the strawberry cheese danish, which is pretty delicious, but you have the variety of danishes from berries to apple and actually got a small crumble pie there. The Solvang Bakery was our last stop before heading out. During busy weekends this little shop is so crowded that we've avoided going inside. Today was a perfectly slow day that we found ourselves the only customers in the late afternoon. We were able to take our time browsing every shelf and display. The gingerbread houses were amazing. Everything looked so tasty, especially those Danish buttercookies beautifully boxed and wrapped with ribbon. I found myself going back to them until finally giving in to buying a couple to share with family. The type and shape of the buttercookies is slightly different in each box. Decent bakery but I happened to try the peanut butter brownie and that's obviously not their thing. I'm a sucker for chocolate and peanut butter so I thought it would be great, but the brownie was too dense and fudgey and the peanut butter was a weird frosting that I ended up scraping off. I did also get some butter cookies which I liked because they were buttery and not too sweet. Perfect with tea or coffee. I'm sure if you come to get some of the items that all the other reviews say to get you'll leave happy, but I went against my Yelp instincts and paid the price. I like the Sarah Bernhart cookies here the best. It's got a good almond cookie base, small ganache and chocolate top. Just the right balance, nothing over powering other parts. Also has apple strudle for breakfast, they can warm it up for you if you like. I saw small birthday cakes, great when you only need it for 2 or 3 people, as opposed to getting a giant 8 inch cake.
