Since everything is crap and upside down bc of c0vid I feel that this could easily be a four star location. But, I can't do it. At least not yet. Blame it on the c0vid. You can't sit anywhere! I ordered a gelato - which was excellent btw - but was reduced to finding an open slot machine (hard) nearby to eat it between the plexi glass sides. #awk Service was very unremarkable. To be expected. I'll for sure give it another shot next time I'm at Chumash. The cakes/muffins looked pretty good. PRO TIP: if you're looking for the Starb it's right "next" to this place. I often find myself going out of my way to make a quick stop at Grains and Grounds inside the Chumash Casino when I' m wine tasting in the Santa Ynez valley! Food: Desserts offers are an evolving, extraordinary beautiful and colorful selection of luscious gourmet cupcakes, desserts, gourmet pies, cakes, dessert bars, cheesecakes, dessert brownies Service: Excellent, quick, efficient and very knowledgeable! Not at all surprise that Grains and Grounds is a place I'm going to rave about! It's truly one of my favorite bakery stop in Santa Ynez. This little bakery is located inside Chumash Casino and I get more excited about this pastry shop than the actual resort. Not only are the desserts aesthetically pleasing, they are simply WOW! A different array of desserts are presented each month depending on season or special events. And don't forget about their in house made Gelato Bar. Yummy! Personal favorites are the cake pops and specialty cakes. The cake pops are dangerously delicious and the art, along with the distinctive flavors in their cakes are just astounding. Need something a little bit more filling? Grains and Grounds also serves fresh, pre-packaged salads and inviting sandwiches. A healthier fare that will tie you down until your next meal. Craving Starbucks? This shop also has you covered with some of your favorite Starbucks coffees and drinks. Masks are required for service and social distancing is enforced. Small bakery inside the casino but close to the self-park entrance/exit doors. The cakes are delicious and our favorites are the flourless chocolate cake, cheese cake and carrot cake. They have small size cakes that are not overly sweet and perfect size for a treat. Cake designs are intricate and classy too. Open 24/7. Haven't found any cakes better than theirs! Availability of cake flavors can be limited at times and you may find they run out of small cake selections towards the night not unlike pre-covid when they had more out on display. Cake designs can vary too so that may throw you off when looking for your favorite flavor. Just a heads-up, there is no seating at this place and you will have to enjoy your treats somewhere else. Casino is also a smoking location and can be difficult to handle when all you want to do is get yourself a nice sweet treat. read more

My wife and I decided to try this place after we found all the other coffee joints had closed at 5pm in Solvang. The YELP photos looked legit and the location was up the road, within a short driving distance. Boy were we hoodwinked by this place! We ordered two coffees and one of the deserts that decorated the display case. The coffee was a tragic watered down liquid, even a CSI would have difficulty finding the presence of caffeine. The desert repelled our plastic fork, dense, old and sad. I wanted my sugar rush and like an addicted gambler I was determined to strike gold. So I ordered a chocolate cupcake and a lemon meringue desert. The only thing that came our way was Deja Poo, the cupcake was old, vintage 90s old and the lemon meringue was sour, old sour. We complained about the old desserts that we were given, these were NOT desserts from the display case but were from the old pile behind the counter. Their response was to offer us more old desserts. We responded with an assertive "No Thank You!" Upon leaving the premises and people exiting the casino with ice chests, I decided to call customer service and offer them my opinion. Veronica the customer service person kept repeating to me that I was calling the wrong department and if I wanted to file a complaint that I needed to file it online. My response was: "Look Veronica I'm doing you guys a favor and I'm doing this because I'm embarrassed for you guys, there's no way that I'm wasting my time and going online." "If you care about your job and the future opinion of your casino then I would suggest that you at least write something down and share it with someone that does care!" My take away impression was that history does repeats itself and failed businesses continue to live in a paradigm of Paul Revereism, not heeding the warning call because they're too busy gambling with their reputation! There's a reason most people dislike flies, typically they don't bring a good experience. They definitely need to change their name to the Shoofly Casino. So if you dislike bad experiences, just keep driving to a place that cares. read more

It's a bummer when you lose $ at the casino AGAIN!! Ugh! I was disappointed, but I saw something sweet that can make me feel better. A chocolate cake!! Chocolate marquise ($3.99): chocolate cake, layered with mousse, very thin fudge, topped with sugary chocolate icing and a dark cherry on top. I could really taste the chocolate and it wasn't too sweet. Non chocolate lover would even eat this cake. Starbucks coffee is also available at the bakery. Super friendly and helpful workers. Got their breakfast sausage muffin. Well-rounded sandwich for sure. Proper girth on the protein and it had a nice peppery finish, reminiscent of peak jimmy dean. They don't skimp on the cheese, but in the spirit of compact "on the go" sandwiches, this can be a little problematic with how messy it is. Recommend as a stationary meal. English muffin was a nice texture. Solid 7.5 out of 10 from me on the sandwich. 10 out of 10 on the experience. read more

This little bakery (not really a cafe) serves Starbucks and yummy ice cream; limited selection of ice cream but extra large serving size. They also have an array of prepared deli-type sandwiches and a huge selection of upscale pastries. The service is wonderful, pleasant and accommodating. Recently The Sweet Stop underwent a renovation. Not only of the shop but the bakery offerings. The mediocre fare has been replaced with high quality baked goods and sandwiches. The pastrami sandwich is a work of art and so delicious. I bought the chocolate mousse cake today for a party. Everyone raved over how delicious it was and it was enough for 20 people. Kudos to the bakery chef for making these much needed changes. read more
