We came in this morning for the first time. We had been wanting to for a while now, but they're closed on the weekends, and that made it hard for us. But I am so glad we did come in! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We bought 2 BECs on everything bagels, a dozen bagels with their rosemary honey butter and plain whipped cream cheese. The flavors we picked were dark chocolate sea salt, jalapeño cheddar, pretzel, asiago, everything, sesame. I was surprised that didn't have a couple of tables and chairs. We brought our breakfast home. I'm from Long Island, NY, so my bagels and cream cheese, as well as my BEC, standards are pretty high. I wasn't impressed with the BEC. The bacon is more like bacon crumbled Into the eggs, but it's supposed to be strips of bacon under the egg, with American cheese over it. Their everything bagels basically just have sesame and poppy seeds on them, missing the onion, garlic, and kosher salt. Bit of a let down. HOWEVER! The bagel texture is out of this world! Pillowy, soft, chewy. Absolute perfection. We also had a dark chocolate sea salt bagel with rosemary honey butter and it was so delicious! That butter and that flavor bagel? Both winners on their own, and incredible together. So while my BEC wasn't up to snuff for me, I am a tough grader. Everything else was so divine, we'll definitely be back asap! read more

Excellent bagels, without a doubt the best in town. They serve bagels and a limited selection of sandwiches. Drip coffee. Portions are generous, tubs of cream cheese Service has been uniformly great. I routinely order ahead of time and have reliably gotten the bagels, still warm, with generous amounts of cream cheese. I just wish they were open on weekends! read more

Hooray for this great addition to downtown Billings. The bagels, the same as sometimes found at the Farmers Market (if you're early enough) are now available from this shop. If you haven't tried a bagel from Sourdough Bagels before, then try now. They're everything a classic bagel should be: not too big, chewy, dense, and with just the right crunch when you bite into it. They have several flavors, but not everyday, or so I overheard her explaining to the customers in line ahead of me. A few are available every day, and the others are on a rotation. That's to be expected, I guess, given that Sourdough Bagel has only recently opened, and these bagels take a couple of days to make using the traditional recipes. By the time I made it to the shop, there were only 3 flavors left and I chose the dark chocolate and the everything. I opted for bagels without any of the various cream cheese flavors, although given some of the choices, I might have to stop being such a purist. The dark chocolate bagel was incredible. There wasn't so much chocolate to overwhelm the flavor and the baked-on salt on the top crust was the perfect foil for the sweet. I nearly turned around to get a dozen of those to go. The everything bagel had more of the "everything" toppings than I've seen before. As difficult as it was to share my dark chocolate bagel, the half of the everything bagel still made it a win. A sweet and a savory. . Don't make me choose again. Don't wait too late in the day to stop by . . . they'll close early when they sell out. read more

Great sourdough bagels! I got the three little figs sandwich on an everything bagel but subbed the mustard butter in place of the honey rosemary spread. It was really good but pretty sweet even with the substitution so stay away if you want a savory breakfast sandwich. The coffee was solid and prices were cheap. Only one little table outside so have a backup spot to eat your bagel. I got there around 9am and they were out of some bagel types so if you want a good selection make sure you get there early. read more

I heard about this place through a friend, and I'm so glad I did! This is a great takeaway spot downtown. I just ordered some bagels to go, but they have a delish-looking bagel sandwich menu--including the likes of a ham and fig, lox, avocado toast, and a regular bacon and cheese. I am really looking forward to trying these! The bagels themselves are delicious! Each is fragrant and crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside--just like any good bread product. They have a great selection of savory and sweet, so you really can't go wrong. I also recommend the rosemary honey cream cheese! It's the perfect combo of herbaceous and sweet, without detracting from the bagel itself! 10/10 I can't wait to try this place again! It's overall priced well and the bagels are top notch. read more

I really don't want to give this bagel shop a review because I don't want anybody else to know about it. It is the absolutely best place in Billings for bagels. I want them to make more every morning because every morning I crave. I work just down the street and I think I went three times in one week or had my coworker pick me up some that same week. The best so far I've had is the sea salt because it was so crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside and usually prefer them toasted but at this place I just want them plain with the red onion and chive spread oh my goodness. I usually want another one as I am finishing the last bite of the first and then I think to myself that is gluttonous but I would still do it if there was one waiting for me. read more

Sweet ladies working there put it way over the top and it's just a cool place with a fun minimal vibe. We were craving a bagel so drove down here to try this place out. The service was good, the ladies were nice but I'm rating this purely for the food itself. The bagels were chewy and stale tasting and there wasn't anything special about the cream cheese. Both of us wished we just bought some from Albertsons because it would have fed our cravings better than these bagels here (that we ended up tossing out anyway). Confession: I am a New Yorker. And the bagels sold in Billings, and most other places in the Midwest, West and South are disappointing -- more often like hamburger buns than real bagels. Well, now there is a Billings shop, The Sourdough Bagel at 219 N 29th in Billings, that sells wonderful bagels. That means an inside that is chewy but not too doughy. Not carbon copies of traditional NYC bagels. As the store's name implies, owner Bonny Perkins and her crew use a sourdough recipe that I love and reminds me of the finest bakeries in San Francisco. I'm told sourdough is also healthier than traditional yeast dough, and that helps relieve guilt over the calorie count of all bread, including bagels. The accompaniments, mostly flavored cream cheeses such as Red Onion & Chive and Rosemary Honey, are delicious. And the smoked salmon reminds me of some of the best lox I enjoyed back in my NYC days. Best of all Bonny and her staff at the Sourdough Bagel will have you laughing, even if you are getting there sleepy eyed at the store's 7:30 am opening, Bonny and her crew are also some of the nicest people I've met during my two years in Billings. I always leave the shop feeling happy - and the bagels are much cheaper than therapy. read more
