Have been in Ames for a week and this place is in one of the conference buildings. While the menu is somewhat limited you can customize your order and the plus side is they give big portions. They have daily specials also. There are a lot of tables and outdoor seating. After you place your order and pay your order is put on the screen and you can see how long it takes and where your order is in regards to in progress or ready.

I liked this place. I had the daily special which was a sandwich, advertised as a burger with fries seasoned with Old Bay. I liked fries, they had the right amount of Old Bay seasoning. The entree was the daily special for Thursday which was advertised as a pork belly burger, that I feel was a missed opportunity. The burger had no patty but instead, two or three pieces of seasoned pork belly with a sweet barbecue sauce. Not bad, just not as advertised. I was looking forward to enjoying the pork belly with the burger, not instead of a burger.

Ahh the space bar. Hours are: 11am-7pm, M-F *yelp is wrong even through I've submitted the correction numerous times Here's the low down on the food: Sandwiches, burgers, daily specials (gyros, fish tacos, poutine, etc), and pub food favorites such a as fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, chicken fingers Truffle fries and the Philly cheesesteak are my go-tos Drinks: Full bar, about 8 taps that rotate-- and yes they have beer flights, coffee espresso type beverages (mocha, cappuccino, latte) Fun Facts: *No liquor is served till 4pm, but beer at lunch is ok *Thur/Fri is all day happy hour pricing on adult beverages (pitcher of craft beers go down to $8/12) *Last call is 6:30pm for food, 6:45pm for drinks *separate lines/paying for food vs adult beverages/coffee *extra sides of sauce (to dip fries in) are requested/added at the register *uber can come on base to space bar *nasa wifi reaches to the space bar walls, so a working lunch is possible :)

Hot dogs (grilled not boiled), grilled cheese and fabulous crispy French fries with truffle oil are what we ordered.

Meat had so much flavor, many crispy brown bits, guac was perfect and leaned to the salty side, which I actually prefer (almost tasted like tomatillo guac with a little something extra?), and the tortillas were substantial. I wish they'd given a little more radish, but I'm a radish fiend so that's not a knock. Chicken regular burrito was also so, so good, and I would never normally order chicken (but FH does frequently). It had a really nice grilled flavor and the burrito had enough meat and filling to be satisfying for lunch. The slight miss for me was the al pastor quesadilla. Too much cheese (I know... is there such a thing? Yes, there actually is) and the al pastor was crisped to the point that it was dry. It still tasted good with the included guac and crema, but I would either reheat this in a skillet upon receipt next time, or skip it. Would come back time and again for the carne asada though - I've been trying to find a place that did it well, and after trialing several of the taquerias in MV, this is the winner. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and pretty in line with every other taqueria around. Would happily come back here - this place has just replaced Los Altos Taqueria as our new go-to close to home.

Mountain View still has quality Mexican food. Friendly service and a great value. Thanksread more

I remember going to my Freshman and Sophmore years in HS with the girl whose family owns this place. I try to return when I am in downtown Mt View, Back in the 1990s when I lived nearby on Calderon I would come in here all the time, it was a quick walk, like 50 yards, if even. The place is spotless like usual, very friendly and attentive staff. I like all the decorations that they have up. Makes you feel like you are in Mexico somewhere. We arrived early and the outside and main dining area were jammed packed. I took pictures of the back room where the rest rooms are so you can see the great art work. By 7pm, it was complelty full. Had the Mole Enchilladas and it was very good. By the time you have the tortilla chips and chile and whatever you are drinking, you get filled up. Anyways as always...Gracias to La Fiesta and to you...Buen Provecho!

It had been a hot couple of days and by the time we halfway through our chips and salsa, the lack of air flow was becoming apparent. They use ceiling fans and only the ones on the opposite half of the restaurant were running full speed, the one directly over head was barely moving. Too frantic. Everyone moved top speed. The second they thought you were done, plates were being taken away. Forget leisurely contemplation on having that last chip or two. Attentive service is one thing, this was another. The food, unfortunately, did nothing to move any of the negatives into the positive. No return visit required.

The restaurant is well decorated, feels lively, and is very dark. Maybe a bit too dark - we had to use our flashlight on our phone just to read the menu. We ordered a few items: - Guacamole 3.5/5 , tasted fresh but needs salt. - Ceviche 3/5 , A bit on the sweeter side than we would like - Verde Carne Asada Burrito meal: 4/5, pretty solid actually just wish the portion was a bit bigger for $24 - Steak Fajitas.... 1/5. My mother usually orders fajitas when we go out to eat at mexican restaurant, but we did not see it on the menu, so we asked the server if they had it and he said yes! Now we know why it's probably not on the menu... The meat was SUPER oily, I mean like drenched in oil, if you put a flashlight on the dish, you will quite literally see a puddle of oil at the bottom of the bowl. Second, the meat is very very tough and dry, similar to some meat you would reheat in the microwave after leaving it in the fridge for a few days. This dish is literally unacceptable and the worst part is the fact it costs $29. DO NOT ORDER THIS. Since, this was a dinner for an early mother's day. We did not want to cause any complaint or trouble to the restaurant as it was super packed. We just won't be coming back here anymore. The server himself was friendly, but man did the service suck. We had to flag down someone every time to bring water, chips, and the check. There was no staff check in ever. In fact, they actually lost my credit card and we were waiting around 10- 15 minutes to just get our check back. Everything took forever and the service was super slow. It was a lot of sitting and waiting for each thing. Losing my credit card and having us wait 10-15 minutes to get it back is unacceptable for a professional restaurant that is not on the lower end of things either.

SERVICE: 10/10 The nicest staff to stumble upon. We were helped by 3 different people, and each of them was so kind and attentive. AMBIANCE: 10/10 Their ambiance is everything, whether it is inside or outside. Outside, there is a lot of nice seating to enjoy the weather. I can only imagine how it looks at night with the twinkle lights on. Inside was so beautiful and eye-catching. There was color everywhere, and I truly loved their rainbow-pattern theme, papel-picados and mariposas displayed all throughout the restaurant. The mixed colors and patterns of chairs per table were beautiful. Their bar area looked so cute and fun to be at. They definitely had so many different types of tequila brands displayed, which makes sense, but I thought it was nice. Parking was fine, thankfully, but it was very small. I wonder how it would be at night or when it gets packed. Overall, this is a great place to stop by!
