When my regular grocery stores didn't have what I was looking for, I took up to yelp to see where I can find some spices. I found the Spice Rack and took a quick drive over to Chestnut Hill. I entered the shop and spent quite a bit of time looking over everything in the store. Trying to add inventory to my brain of things I've never seen before and things I want to try later. I bought what I was looking for and then I started talking to the owner, Shannon. He showed off some of his paintings and we spoke for quite a bit about various topics. He made a great personal connection to me that probably made me a customer for life. I can't say that I'll be there all of the time, but it's a place I'm going to for more supplies. I did pay the meter to park and was a little nervous that we chatted so long, but next time I'll throw an extra quarter in so I'm not rushed at all. read more

Come here if you can't cook that well or if you are a master chef. Either way, you'll find plenty of new blends you can use to make your food taste incredible. I plan on shopping here for Christmas since I know relatives in every cooking category. Due to supply chain issues with the pandemic, they may be out of some spice blends but honestly, I feel like you could walk in with a blindfold, pick some jars and still win. What a lovely little store! Right in chestnut hill along the cobblestone streets. I called looking for strawberry extract and they had that and many other hard to find extracts. You name it, they got it. While I was there Shannon recommended the chipotle rub for the salmon I wanted to bake. Perfect! Shannon is also an artist and throughout the store he had his oil paintings everything. So it was a spice store and an art exhibit in one. Shannon is gifted, friendly and such a pleasure to speak to. Plus they have all types of spices, rubs, marinades, olive oils and extracts. It's a must that you check them out if you're in the area. read more

Great place, very helpful owner. Bought some fennel seeds there yesterday. Toasted them up and wanted to attach some pictures of what I did with them. Made some zucchini boats stuffed with fenneled minced pork. Turned out outstanding and you could really taste the fennel. read more

We were walking around Chestnut Hill on a sunny Sunday and found this gem of a store. First off it smells delicious from all the spices. They have a lot of blends for different uses so, like me, if you don't know what spices go well together you do not need to worry about it. The woman who helped me, it may have been the owner, was very helpful in giving me recipe ideas. There also was a nice selection of flavored sea salts, oils and balsamic. read more

Amazing variety of upscale olive oil, vinegar and spices. The owner is a passionate artist and is extremely accommodating with samples and advice. Visiting PA, roaming around Chestnut Hill, the owner said to come on in and enjoy the AC so I did. I was in need of some spices and found what I needed as well as some new varieties to try. I have gone here with my wife several times, and i really like the employees. I feel they went above and beyond to explain everything, they genuinely seemed excited about the products and knew much more about the items than I expected. I felt like they had the energy of a good friend who was excited about something and they wanted you to experience it too. I was offered samples of the products, everything was explained out, and I didn't feel pressured into buying anything more than I wanted. Absolutely LOVE The Spice Rack. Was meeting up with a girlfriend for dinner in the area. I had a little time to kill so I wandered into this place. I was immediately impressed. The shop is so clean, well-organized and had a nice layout. The owners were so friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about their products. I was floored by how many blends, oils and rare, hard-to-find, exotic selections they offered. I bought the Bourbon Molasses rub, the Carolina BBQ Rub, the Apricot Ginger Teriyaki Sauce and the Tuscan Lemon Herb Marinade. All of them were delicious! I was also able to special order some spices for my award-winning cheese dip and it only took a few days to come in. Foodies and cooks, this awesome little shop is a must visit!
