I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the medical care I received from Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel, who performed a neck lift surgery on me, followed by two revision surgeries. This letter reflects my personal experience and concerns about the quality of care, the surgical outcomes, and the handling of my postoperative issues. My initial neck lift showed visible problems immediately after the procedure. I returned to Dr. Spiegel's office with concerns that my neck appeared uneven and that there was significant loose skin. He recommended a second surgery as a corrective measure. I reluctantly agreed, hoping the issues would be resolved. Unfortunately, the revision surgery did not correct the problems. The appearance of my neck still included loose skin and asymmetry, and in my personal opinion, the results looked worse than my natural neck before surgery. I was then advised to undergo a third surgery, which would require me to pay additional fees. I was also told that the doctor had already performed a face-lift/deep-plane/neck lift "to the best of his ability," yet the issues remained. Because I was increasingly concerned, I sought a second opinion from a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York. After an in-person evaluation, that surgeon stated that the work performed on me did not appear consistent with standard technique, and that I still had significant loose skin. I was told the procedure would need to be redone, and at a higher cost, because it involved correcting previous work. I have repeatedly requested a refund from Dr. Spiegel's office so that I can pay for proper corrective surgery elsewhere, but my request was refused. I finally decided to have electrolysis done on my face and take care of unwanted hair. I chose the Spiegel Center because of how they describe their process and because of very successful prior procedures I've had there. I've had several sessions, one of which was "large volume electrolysis" - 8 hours with two technicians. Dr. Onir, Dafina Sinani, who is my care coordinator for aesthetics and skin care, and the electrolysis technicians - Aisha and Kim - are wonderful and the quality of care is exceptional. Numbing injections and pain management were handled effectively and efficiently by Dr. Tower and Dr. Goslawski, in addition to Dr.s Onir and Spiegel. I had a deep plane facelift, upper bleph and laser resurfacing with Dr Tower. Everything went REALLY smoothly; it was much nicer than what I would have experienced in a hospital setting. The nurses and anesthesiologist were top notch and my care coordinator was checking in both before and after surgery to make sure I had everything I needed. The results are still a work in progress (residual swelling and bruising still apparent, but hardly noticeable at 2.5 weeks) but even then, I still look way better than pre-surgery. I had a negative experience here with IPL + Morpheus 8 which left me scarred on my forehead. Dr Onir was both aggressive and brusque in her approach to the treatment, which left me scraped and scabbed in several areas. They did offer to see me again and re-treat the scarred areas with IPL, but unfortunately I am still left with a permanent mark right in the center of my forehead, even after the second (corrective) IPL treatment + 5 months of mederma + sunscreen. When I came back for the follow up, they seemed to be more focused on selling me a monthly subscription for IPL than anything, which was a bit tone deaf on their part. I'd say avoid this practice for laser treatment, Morpheus 8 in particular. I have not had fillers or injections from Dr Onir so I cannot speak to her abilities there. Dr Spiegel is great, but unfortunately I cannot recommend Dr Onir and will not be returning. read more

This place DESTROYED my face & my life. They have two pages on Yelp my guess is for nefarious reasons. They did Morpheus8 on me which i wanted for my facial scar & they quoted me for my whole face so I assumed it was standard procedure. It's not they were greedy. Now they have scarred every inch of my face except the area under my eyebrow & thats the only skin left of the face I once had. It aged me DRASTICALLY basically overnight- once the inflammation went down & I could see the damage. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars & THOUSANDS of hours trying to figure out how to fix it & it will never be truly the same & I know it. I hate these people. Then they gaslight you & try to tell you that you look better or that the new damage was already there. I had to bring a friend with me because I knew they were gonna do that so there was someone else there to vouch for the fact that NO IT WASNT & NO IT DOESNT! I will add pics when I have more time but the industry is very much waking up to the fact that this is one of the worst machines ever invented. There are countless videos about the damage it causes on YouTube and thousands of comments from victims and Reddit stories galore. Yet they play dumb and act like I'm the first person in the whole world that they have ever heard has had the fat melted in their face from too much heat being applied, severe volume loss, lots of elasticity, drooping, huge open pores, orange peel texture skin, thinned skin on my forehead, so my forehead beans are constantly bulging out, indentation under my eyes, my neck looks like a Sharpay, I went from looking like I was in my 20s to looking like I need a facelift, and now because of all my open floors I have a severe sweating problem and I am pouring sweat all summer. I dread the heat now. I am in a support group for people This machine has damaged. It's on Facebook called "facial damage from radio frequency and laser." Don't do it. It's the biggest regret of my life & that's saying a lot. I would pay anything to fix it but there's nothing that can get your subcutaneous fat back once it's gone, not even a fat transfer bc that's deeper. Keep looking! read more

I had two FFS surgeries with Dr. Spiegel a long time ago and, sadly, I think he did a rather mediocre job on both of them. His work is okay if you need extremely minimal changes. But, should you require more serious bone work... he's not your person. Poor rhinoplasty work (which has resulted in major scar tissue), pre-surgery I had a rounded hairline which, post-surgery, was squared off, and I don't feel as if he was honest about the chin work he claimed he was going to do. Okay, the trach shave was fine. At the time I went to him there were few alternatives--not so now. You can do better than Spiegel. read more

I recently went in for a Botox update and was railroaded into spending more than twice what I planned for an additional procedure (filler) which has shown absolutely no difference in my appearance but cost $1,200. This was down from the proposal to sell me twice as much filler. I went to the appointment feeling good about treating myself to a procedure on my birthday and now just feel like a gullible fool easily parted from my money. Be prepared for a hard sell to agree to more than you want or need. Have 2 vials of under eye Fillers w Dr. Onir and looked like an alien for mths until I had it dissolved by another doctor. It cost $1400 plus $500 to dissolve. First pic is after it was dissolved and I had ONE vial of Restalyne done by the doc that dissolved it 2 weeks later. The next 2 pics is how I looked 2 mths after I was overfilled. They look like 2 shelves under my eyes. Why wouldn't an injector just do one and then have youcome back to see if u need another vial is beyond comprehension to me. read more

I wish I'd done more research before coming here. I too was taken in by the online accolades and proclamation of seeing new England's best injector. This ended up being the most expensive mistake I ever made. Everything I got done here, I had dissolved and redone (except my temples). I went back a couple times to get my lips partially dissolved before I had them redone somewhere else. I left the under eye in for over a year. Saw a new doc, and he saw immediately without my prompting that my under eye was overfilled still over 1 year later. I had to pay $500 to dissolve. Update: when I went to get it refilled the other doc let me know I didn't even need tear trough filler. The worst part was I used to like to smile but between the bags under my eyes and lumpy lips I started hating my smile. The overfilled under eye actually started creating some wrinkles in the inner corner for me. Ironically, they were so insistent I needed to come back every 6 months to touch up- when I was still overfilled in my under eye 1 year later. This was my first filler experience and my worst by far. But the true worst part is that I was worried and anxious for help after I noticed the overfilling qnd lumpiness. I followed up too much for them, and my contact emailed me complaining about me by accident. They apologized for it but they made me feel terrible for wanting to correct things that others could clearly tell weren't looking great. read more

GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE YOUVE HAD A STROKE. Seriously, I'm not an internet troll, I'm a yelp elite because I give authentic reviews and truly love to rave about genuine businesses. This review is specifically for Dr. Onir. I came to her for lip filler because I was impressed by her numerous "accolades" online. I thought that she knew the mouth well (being a dentist) and was probably "good with her hands". Boy, was I sorely mistaken. She begins by numbing your mouth (dentist-style). Then she uses the "cannula" technique. She made a hole with a needle then couldn't find it with her cannula and proceeded to jab my lips for 2 minutes with a hard cannula until she used the needle 2 more times to widen the hole and shove the cannula in. "This usually goes in like this..." she murmurs. It was far from finessed. After injecting Versa (the filler), she proceeded to squeeze my lip with the force of 1000 men. I have had filler done many times before and have NEVER had someone squeeze it hard, maybe a tiny pinch. When she took her hand away I asked for a mirror and literally was speechless. My lip was huge and completely misshapen. It was hanging over my teeth and looked like I had a stroke. (I'm an ICU nurse and see stroke patients not infrequently). I literally said out loud "I look like I had a stroke!" And she quickly shut the door so no other clients could hear me. She quickly had me sign a consent for the hyaluronidase (to dissolve the filler) and tried to dissolve it. I sat in her office almost in tears, afraid to look in the mirror. After icing for 20 minutes she told me I could go and that it should go down over the next few days. I had to stop in my way out the door to pay in full for my stroke face. I wanted to throw up. I've been so traumatized by this experience and hope this discourages others to go to her. DO NOT GO HERE. I had tear trough filler here about 6 months ago and I'm STILL trying to correct it. I looked like an alien. I still look like an alien! 6 months of crying. 6 months of not going places where I can't wear sunglasses because I'm so botched and embarrassed. I don't know how they can still be allowed to do this to people. Dr Onir should stick to dentistry. Maybe spend less on tacky decor, photo shoots, fake yelp reviews and fake accolades and invest in more education on filler. I've since been told by 3 actual accomplished injectors, that I am not a candidate for tear trough filler AND the placement of my 2 syringes is horribly done. Not to mention the JACKED UP PRICE! 2 syringes of filler does not equal $2400 but somehow the Spiegels think it does. When I went back for my 2 week appt, I expressed how unhappy I was and her response was... guess what.... MORE FILLER, CHA CHING. I said no I'd rather dissolve it and revisit it at a later date. She quickly injected the dissolvent, had me squeeze a tissue on the area around the sides of my nose and left the room. There is so much filler still left. If I wanted to fix this mess I had to pay... again. The trust was immediately lost. I wouldn't trust Dr Onir with my dogs teeth, never mind MY FACE, ever again! I've never felt more taken advantage of. I'm not a complainer, by any means. Im also not an avid yelper but I feel like she needs to be held accountable. If I can stop 1 person from feeling like this I will be happy. Go somewhere else for your filler. I PROMISE YOU, you will see how clearly these people are after one thing and one thing only...The almighty dollar. They don't care if you leave looking worse than when you came in. I am a transgender woman who has gone to Dr. Spiegel for various surgeries since 2009. I've had pretty much every FFS procedure they have invented through him, and would recommend him enthusiastically to anyone looking to feel more comfortable in your life and career. Before I did FFS, being trans was constantly a difficult factor in my life. After it, it literally never comes up unless I disclose with people. As with all plastic surgery, it's important to have reasonable expectations. Some procedures with him have been more successful than others. Some have had very long recovery times. Some have had complications. This is par for the course with any plastic surgeon. FFS is essentially about incremental improvements that add up. A smaller jaw will make you look 15 percent more feminine. Brow bossing another 10 percent, a lip lift maybe five percent. Dr. Spiegel cannot take away the trauma or transphobia that all of us face, but he can help reduce the markers testosterone creates in your facial structure. For me personally, the jaw reduction, voice surgery and scalp advance are the three I would recommend most strongly. All had very long recovery times, but were worth it in the long run. I also have to mention his office, which has never treated me with anything less than respect and humanity - something you cannot say for many healthcare providers. When I first started working with Spiegel in 2009, he was one of a handful of FFS surgeons in the country. In the decade plus since, he has helped train a ridiculous number of FFS surgeons in the United States - over 80 percent. Two years ago I noticed hooding of my upper eyelids which really started to bother me. I decided then that I wanted an upper blepharoplasty and started saving. I would like to add that 'Dr' Spiegle made my throat so small that when I went for FFS, NOT with that hack, my new Dr could NOT incubate me and had to do the surgery under general anesthesia! I get food stuck in my throat all the time. I am convinced I'm going to die because something gets lodged in there. I have told my family and friends if I drop dead that that's probably the reason why. If anyone wants to start a class-action law suit I'm IN! This place is absolute trash, they are mutilating patients!!! read more
