Horrible service. Sat for 15 minutes without even a hi from wait staff. Looked at hostess to let hwr know we havent been served. She then decided it was a good time to take a break. Waited for a drink at end of bar 3 bartenders walked by no one acknowledged me until I asked to get a drink. Ordered off of happy hour menu chicken bits . Order came out half cooked and half raw! I opened the bits to see the uncooked portion and when the bartender came to ask how Weber thing was I explained some were raw and some were cooked she replied awwwww . !? She then Dumped them in trash and that was that. No sorry I'll tell the cook so this won't happen again or nothing .... terrible service , looks like a good local place but I will never eat here again. read more

We were passing by and stopped in for a quick dinner. The specials that night included Irish stew. The portion wasn't tremendous but the price and taste were so good I ordered a second helping. Overall satisfied, and we would eat there again if we were in the area. read more

They have good food depending on what you order. We tend to stick to the cheese fries and chicken/steak kabobs, which have sometimes been a hit or miss. I do really enjoy their ladies night, but they have horrible service!! I have been here plenty of times with a group of my co-workers and various other times with my family and these people will blatantly ignore you. I went today, it was almost a ghost town, my kids and I waited forever to even get a hello, or an I will be right with you. Well we got neither and eventually left without ordering a thing and will not be returning. read more

I very much enjoy this place. It's called "the spot" for a reason. It has yummy food! The prime rib is amazing, the margarita pizza is wonderful, and the lobster mac and cheese is brilliant. I also reccomend the lobster grilled cheese. Everything I've had so far was good from here. Everytime my family comes to Groton, we come here. It's close, the food is good prices and the bar/dinner scene is nice. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I went Saturday (after going 3 days in a row, shows how much my family and I like the place), and they messed up our order. We got take out, and the waitress was VERY rude. She claimed the lazy man's lobster was NOT $18, and charged us $25 even though it said on the menu online that it was $18. She grabbed the phone from my hand and showed the owner who sat at the bar. She was VERY rude and did not make the experience nice. We just ordered the casserole on Friday night and they charged us $18 and I had no complaints, now she was saying they don't even serve the lazy mans lobster and that it was a mistake. Thank god the owner was there and charged us $18, honored the price that we showed them online. I would go back only if the rude waitress was not there. read more

This is the first time I have been to The Spot and I was not disappointed. The table got the Texas cheese fries and were they amazing. Our waitress was extremely nice and checked on us regularly even though she was only one of two waitress working the lunch shift, a friend and I both ordered the steak bomb, which is an open faced sandwich and it was to die for, I will most definitely be going back again soon. read more

VERY POOR service. We asked the hostess for an outside table, but she said it was unavailable because they were shutting the outside tables down shortly. Before we left, we saw two families seated outside, and we were very disappointed. Apparently serving guests outside is too much of a hassle for their staff. I had a negative dinner experience with my family. The waitress was lukewarm. The margarita chicken was covered in salsa. The children's meals didn't include a healthy side item, and juice & milk were extra. The waitress assumed we didn't want dessert, bringing the bill until we asked for the dessert menu. They ran out of the kids' 99 cent ice cream cups, so we requested a scoop of ice cream instead. Then the waitress tried to charge us more money. For the icing on the cake, the waitress didn't clear our dinner plates before serving dessert. Overall, a D+ experience. read more

Went for dinner and had the fish sandwich. For a place right on the shoreline I would have expected fresh fish. Nope, it was a frozen fish stick. The slaw that came with was warm and unflavorful and the tarter sauce was bland. The baked potato was luke warm. I ordered a pino grigio and it was very weak. I pretty much struck out at this visit unfortunately. The servers were nice and attentive but they could have had a bug zapper on the deck as I got bit up pretty bad. I can clearly say that with all the options down there to find fresh seafood, I wont be coming back. read more

Ive been here 3 times and the first time was a good experience. The food is really good... when they get it right. Drinks are extremely WEAK!!! The last time we came in, two separate people took our orders, the drinks tasted like juice, we never got our appetizer so you can imagine my face when the table on the side of us ordered apps 30 mins later and got them before us, they got my order wrong so i had to wait to eat while my boyfriend was eating, which u can also imagine how awkward that was. Our waitress was nowhere to be found and the poor hostess had to deal with the "wrong." This place is extremely unorganized. If you just want beers during happy hour, thats your best bet.. just go to the bar, don't get waited on! read more

The Spot used to be one of my favorite places to eat it does have very good food at a very reasonable price. i always thought it was also a good sports bar. after tonight not so much. tonight it's the red sox yankees game i sit down, the game is on one of the main TV's where everyone can watch. All of a sudden at the end of the 1ST inning the OWNER of all people comes over and change the TV over to RUKU to put on of all things ROLLER DERBY which i thought was extinct years ago. his bar is right in the middle of reds and yankees fans and the only tv's with the game on now is in the corner by the restrooms. Which only a few people can watch. lucky for us there was booth open so we asked to be moved. which they complied for us. Only one problem the people sitting at the bar blocked our view. So we finished our drinks and left. Bottom line if you want a good meal nice place. but if your going there to watch your favorite team play. You may as well find somewhere else to go because the spot doesn't care if your team is playing or not. if someone wants to watch roller derby and your watching one of the one of many sports teams in this area you lose. they could care less about our sports in New England. roller derby over Red Sox Yankees game REALLY that's all you need to know about this sports bar. Things have gone downhill since I was here last. The environment seems more lively now though. It was a Saturday around 7pm. I ordered a coke, prime rib, and mozzarella sticks. You can no longer pick your sides on the prime rib, you can no longer pick the size, and it is no longer seasoned. It is just a bland over cooked piece of meat now with sides that taste like buffet food. The mozzarella sticks were under cooked. The coke was good and the service was fast. In fact, it was so fast, I didn't even get a chance to say I needed steak sauce before the server ran away. I had to ask another server for the steak sauce because my server had disappeared for some time. Also, the same prime rib is $19 on Friday, but $11 on Saturday. I would have been very upset to pay the Friday rate for the meal I got. Maybe the other food items are better. I will try one more time, but my old favorite is gone and quantity does not make up for poor quality. read more

I went to this cafe because their sign advertised whole belly clam strips...which I wasn't served. There was plenty of parking and then the experience went down from there. I was greeted at the front door by a large bucket of cigarette buds and beer bottles. The hostness was nice but the three menus we were given (one which was a poor photocopy of the specials) was too much. Also, there were no drinks, not even soda, listed on any of the menus. Our server didn't introduce herself. Also her shorts were too short. Two of the servers were wearing incredibily short shorts which are very inappropriate for a cafe setting. We sat outside and it was decorated with beer logo items - so tacky. Even the waitress's apron had a beer logo on it. The bar stools were so old and worn. The footrail of the bar looked like it was rotting. Oh, and there was bug spray in the table condiment caddy! So I wanted to whole belly clam strips and one of the menus made it seem like they served a combo of clam strips and clam bellies. I was served the clam strips. Ok, I like clam strips, but not these clam strips. They did not taste freshly made (go down the street to that little clam shack, those strips are fresh), I would guess they were frozen clam strips or severly over fried. I was very disappointed, which my server didn't pick up on, but from the other conversations I overheard at other tables with their servers I'm not surprised. One woman told her server she was still waiting on her drink (I guess she got a drink menu) and the server didn't apologize she said "You ordered that from me?" It doesn't matter who she ordered it from, she ordered it, the server should have apologized and got her the drink. read more
