Really enjoyed my time at The Spot! Great atmosphere, good hookah, and the service was what really made the experience stand out. The manager/owner came over and replaced my hookah without any hesitation and made sure everything was perfect. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. I work in hospitality with Wolfgang Puck Catering, so I really notice when service is done well, and they definitely nailed it. It's not every day you get that level of attention. The atmosphere is nice and the service is good. However, they don't always let you choose where you want to sit, and the music can be extremely loud. How did I not leave a review here sooner? I've been coming here for over 20 years and this place is just legendary. So many memories are tied to this spot. I always enjoy coming here late-night --the atmosphere is amazing, the energy is flowing, the music is great, the food is delicious and the hookah gives out that awesome fruity smoke that you want. Out of food, I love their kubideh beef plate with shirazi salad. The ground beef skewers are so well marinated and are perfectly juicy and tender when served. The beef also comes with a grilled tomato and the shirazi salad with citrusy dressing is very light and refreshing. Out of drinks, I love their Persian-style tea that is served with this awesome little, fried dough honey-flavored treat called bamiyeh. Absolutely delicious. The Spot, being a hookah lounge, definitely has a huge selection of hookah flavors, sorted by tobacco and a few other categories. One of the newcomer flavors to the scene is the Luka Hooka, cause we know our boy Luka Doncic likes his hookah in the off-season. What a great way to commemorate Luka and the tangerine flavor tobacco used in it is just so refreshing and smokes very well. I will give 2 measly stars. Why? Good setting, good ambiance, chill area. Food is bad. Salmon kabob is super mid. I ordered it, it tastes dry, fishy, flaky, burnt edges. Not juicy. Dried. Extremely dry. The only thing saving it is the rice. And that is because rice always tastes good, especially with mounds of butter. The tomato is also good., but, even a toddler can prepare a tomato. The salad. Man. They drench it in dressing and choose the oldest dead saddest looking greens. Also, 8 bucks for doogh is crazy. At least make it yourself. I think the salmon is frozen. I really wanted to like this place, but it is truly abysmal. The first time I came here, I ordered the "chicken tenders," which were really just a chicken breast cut up into chicken strips and breaded/fried to be presented as chicken tenders. No matter, they were still tasty enough and my friend ordered the tortilla soup which was pretty tasty as a supplement. However tonight, I came here with a couple friends after a night out since this place is open till 5 AM. We were having a low-key decompression session after our night out and ordered some food to end the night. After our orders were placed with our server, a thin, bald man approached our table to say that we were "scaring people." LMAO, what? We were a group of 3 women decompressing after a night out, at a place that seems to pride itself on being open until 5 AM. We were talking at a normal volume, or as normal as could be expected to be able to hear one another over the sound of the ambient music. He didn't elaborate on what he meant by "scaring people." Also, I am a 4'11" Asian woman, so to be categorized as someone who could potentially "scare people" is honestly a radical compliment in my opinion. (And certainly a first in my nearly 40 years on this planet.) We immediately asked for our check and a box for our chips and guac so we didn't continue to "scare people." The Spot has been around through all of my teenage/high school years so I've visited on multiple occasions but my last visit Jan. '24 was fun. I don't know that I would consider it an upscale Hookah lounge but it's fun. The food however, is always fresh and made to order. I ordered the cornish hen dinner, served with Mediterranean rice and salad with grilled tomatoes. I was pleasantly surprised at how seasoned, juicy, and tender the cornish hen were. My friends enjoyed their fries and snacks but I was the only one with a real meal. They also seemed to like the hookah. Service was ok, the host gave us a hard time about taking the large table because two of our people weren't there yet so she sat us at a very tight table. Where do I start?! I was here last Wednesday having some Armenian coffee while I was doing a zoom interview. That coffee was so strong, that it kept me up until the cows came home. I used to come here a lot in my 20's, stopped by a decade later and we ordered all the 3 different kebabs, hummus, rice, salads etc. Could not believe the place was still in business and packed. Service was great quite frankly. Unfortunately that's pretty much where it ends in the positive. The food is alright, it's edible but it does not fit the price. The tortilla chips were quite overly hard, salsa was bland, and my tacos were very poor. I did try the spot burger as well and it was fine but nothing to write home about. I got a coconut water and there was chunks of coconut shell that were in it that I had to spit out. The French fries were very good that had came with my burger plate. I wanted the Beef Soltani but I made the very good mistake of ordering the macho nacho tater tots adding steak which was so large it filled me up, and I must point out most places skimp on the quac but The Spot is your place if you love the green stuff. There was plenty of cheese, jalapenos, and sour cream. The Soltani had to come home as a great late night snack. My partner had the grape leaves, lentil soup and a salad and most of that had to come home with us too. The menu is quite large so it will take some time to get through it all. We usually come here for hookah, but the service is always disappointing. As deaf customers, it's already not easy for us to communicate and make reservations. Still, when we arrive, the waiters are not friendly or understanding of our situation. One time, we asked for a table inside, but they refused to let us sit--even though the table was empty--because it was "only for 6 people" and we didn't have a reservation.
